Mrs. Taylor
Former Lampasas resident Dorothy Doggett Taylor, 77, of Buchanan Dam died May 12, 2007.
Funeral services are May 15 at 2 p.m. at Buchanan Dam Church of Christ with Brothers Willis Jernigan and Elvis Fisher officiating. Burial is at Watson Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Llano, to James King and Ethel Jones Smedley.
She retired after a 30-year career as a dental assistant in Civil Service at Fort Hood.
She married L.R. Taylor Jr. on June 25, 1994, in Lampasas, and moved to the lake area of the Hill Country the same year.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of Buchanan Dam Church of Christ and Broad Street Church of Christ in Lampasas.
Survivors include her husband of Buchanan Dam; nieces, Kay McCann, and husband, Fred, of Lampasas, Joyce Birkelbach, and Duane Hand, of Giddings, Judy Felan, and husband, Victor, of San Antonio, Lisa Baker, and husband, Vernon, of Lampasas, Betty McDougald, and husband, Joe, and Anne Knott, and husband, John, all of Houston; a nephew, Johnny L. Smedley, of Houston; a stepdaughter, Sue McCombs, and husband, Wayne, of Buchanan Dam; a sister, Joann Morgan, of Lampasas; a sister-in-law, Dessie Smedley, of Pasadena; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sherman Doggett, on Aug. 7, 1988; by a brother, J.W. Smedley; and sisters, Syble Nelson and Gene Syzdlik.
The family requested memorial memorials be made to American Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Warner
Edith Gene Warner died May 8, 2007, at her residence. She was 73.
Graveside services were May 11 at Warner Family Cemetery at Lake Victor with Jerry Don Sanders officiating.
Mrs. Warner was born Oct. 14, 1933, at Bend, to Harvey William and Jessie Bailey Stinnett.
She was a member of Lake Victor Church.
Survivors include daughters, Jeanie Warner, of Round Rock, and Joy Shelbourn and Nelda Hanson, of Wichita Falls; a son, Nolan "Pop" Warner, of Lake Victor; brothers, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy Stinnett; and four sisters, Myrtle Brown, Gladys Hill, Rosa Coley and Gayle Chambers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd A. Warner; by brothers, Billie Stinnett, Willie Stinnett and Johnny Stinnett; and a sister, Mary Jo Iverson.

Mrs. Brooks
Former Lometa resident Edna E. Brooks, 94, died May 29, 2007, at Regent Health Care Center in Waco.
Visitation is June 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas. Services are June 2 at 2 p.m. at Lometa Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Lometa City Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks was a resident of Lometa since she was 4 years old and moved to Waco in January 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of Lometa Church of Christ.
Survivors include children, Ruth Drew, Jack Brooks and Nelda Kelly; grandchildren, Linda Guess, David and Charles Drew, Jeffery and Brian Brooks and Charles and Chris Kelly; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Lee Brook, and by four sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Jones
Funeral services for Wayne Jones, 72, of Lampasas are June 1, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Barnard officiating. Burial will follow at Naruna Cemetery in Burnet County.
Mr. Jones died May 29 at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple.
He was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Gatesville, the son of W.T. and Jennie Sims Jones.
Mr. Jones grew up in Turnerville and Naruna.
He married Edie DeShon on Aug. 15, 1972, in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years with tours of duty in Greenland, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. After retirement, he was an electric lineman for the U.S. Civil Service at Fort Hood for 20 years.
Mr. Jones was a member of Naruna Baptist Church and a life member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; daughters, Alvina Marie Johnson, and husband, Reggie, of Leander, Theresa Diane Lindsey, and husband, Tim, of Round Rock, and Mendy Clevenger, of Austin; sons, Robert Wayne Jones, of Naples, Fla., Jeff Jones, and wife, Debra and Brian Clevenger, both of Lampasas, and Scott Clevenger, of Round Rock; a brother, Billie C. Jones, and wife, Rose, of Lampasas; a sister-in-law, Glenda DeShon, of Lampasas; a brother-in-law, George DeShon, and wife, Georgia, of Kokomo, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jessie Springer; and by a brother, T.J. Jones.

Mrs. Bailey
An outdoor celebration of the life of Lucy "Mae" Bailey, 99, will be held at her home, 104 Bass Circle, Buchanan Dam, on June 3, 2007, at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Bailey died May 20.
She was born Dec. 12, 1907, in May Pearl, the daughter of William Lee and Alice Shumake Roberts.
She married Charles Middleton Drayton, a pilot, in 1922, and he died in an airplane crash in Mexico, where they were living.
Mrs. Bailey later moved to Houston and worked for several years at Foleys.
She married Ray Elliott in 1944. She later attended the University of Houston and graduated from the School of Business and found employment with Casual Corners, a clothing store.
In 1971, Mrs. Bailey moved to Buchanan after her retirement. In 1973, she married Ross "Bud" Bailey, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Mrs. Bailey left her body to the Science Department at Baylor University.
She was preceded in death by a sister, who died at age 2.
Survivors include many friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Houston
Wandah Mae Broyles Houston, 81, of Marble Falls died May 26, 2007, in Kingsland.
A memorial service is June 1 at 1 p.m. at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel in Llano with the Rev. Grady Roe officiating.
Mrs. Houston was born June 13, 1925, in Cherokee in San Saba County, where she was reared and attended school. The daughter of Ben L. and Esther A. Broyles, she graduated from the Cherokee Independent School System.
She then attended Draughn Business School in Dallas for training in bookkeeping and office management.
Later, Mrs. Houston took courses in real estate. Her business career included office work at Camp Bowie, General Telephone Co., private businesses, Thompson-Hayward Chemical Inc., Buttery Hardware Co., Southwestern Cattle Inc., and in real estate.
She spent most of her adult life in Llano and Burnet County area.
Survivors include brothers, Lester Delworth Broyles, and wife, Virginia, Alton E. Broyles, and wife, Bertha, Billie R. Broyles, and wife, Clara, and Ben I. Broyles; a sister, Ida Jo Holley; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. "Tuckum" Houston; and a brother, Tom Lewis Broyles.
The family requested memorials be made to the church or charity of one's choice.

Mr. Clark
Edward Earl Clark, 94, of Lampasas died May 20, 2007, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
No service is planned. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Clark was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Batesville, Ark., to Elijah and Mary Clark.
He was a plumber and a member of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include sons, Danny Clark, of Leakey, Roger Clark, of Victoria, Windell Clark, of Nordheim, and Wayne Clark, of Killeen; and daughters, Linda Clark, of Bandera, and Joy Clark, of Leakey.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Clark.

Mrs. Deorsam
Funeral services for Fern Deorsam, 92, of Killeen were May 24, 2007, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen with the Rev. Jack Husung officiating. Burial was at Killeen City Cemetery.
Mrs. Deorsam died May 21 in a Killeen hospital.
She was born July 17, 1914, in Boaz, Texas, to Orbie and Annie Atchison. She was reared in the Antelope community before Fort Hood came to be.
Mrs. Deorsam was a sales associate and a buyer of ladies clothing for various businesses including Bearden's Army Store, Stokes Brothers, Style Shop and The Cedar Chest.
She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and Skyline Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bob" Deorsam and Randy Deorsam, both of Killeen; three daughters, Virginia Ann Reddig, of San Antonio, Sue Phillips, of Lampasas, and Nita Booras, of Killeen; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Deorsam Sr., on Jan. 15, 1999; and by a sister, Melba Wood.
The family requested memorials be made to Skyline Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mrs. Rogers
Ava Fay Rogers, 81, died May 16, 2007.
Memorial services were May 19, 2007, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Brother Steve James officiating.
She was born April 20, 1926, in Temple, to James and Annie West.
Mrs. Rogers moved to Lampasas in 1971 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by children, Leta Beyer and Paul Rogers, both of Lampasas, and Jerry Rogers, of Palestine; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Rogers.
Mr. Waldeck
Gene Lee Waldeck died May 20, 2007, at age 74 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Carnegie, Okla.
At the age of 4, Mr. Waldeck contracted polio, but was determined to live life to the fullest. He was a computer consultant and a member of the Episcopal church, Masonic Lodge and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his wife, Joe Ann Brook, formerly of Lampasas; a brother and his wife; five children; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Interment of remains will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
