Monte Jack Howard, 51
Graveside services for Monte Jack Howard, 51, of Austin, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today in Macomb Cemetery in Whitesboro. The Rev. Joe Patterson will officiate.
Mr. Howard died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001.
He was born Dec. 9, 1949, in Plainview, the son of Darrel George and Ellouise Howard.
He is survived by his mother, Ellouise Howard of Austin; one brother, Rex L. Howard of Madill, Okla.; and two sisters, Georgia Watley of Austin and Dana Pounds of Commerce.

H. Wayne Bennett, 65
Hubert Wayne Bennett of Campbell died Nov. 3 in Hopkins County. There will be a graveside service at a later date at Greenview Cemetery followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall at the cemetery .
He was born March 26, 1936, in Cumby, Hopkins County, son of Henry Hubert and Bertha Snow Parris Bennett. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1954 and from East Texas State University in 1960. On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Wynema June Cooper Bennett in Dallas County.
He earned rank of staff sergeant and an honorable discharge from the Army National Guard, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Bennett also received appreciation from the U.S. War Office for service in the active Army during a time of crisis in 1961-62.
His career began with Temco Aircraft Corp. of Greenville on Oct. 17, 1960, and continued through company changes of Ling-Temco-Vought Inc., then E-Systems, Inc. Mr. Bennett retired in 1991 as a structural engineering manager. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
The Willed Body Program at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas has accepted him for medical teaching and research purposes.
Surviving are his wife, June Bennett of Campbell; sisters Ovelle Cagle of Sulphur Springs, Norma Jean Ford of Greenville and Betty Ann Bickham of Clute; brother-in-law Billy R. Ford; nephews Brett Bickham and Mark Bickham; nieces Lynne Torchelli, Mary Crismore, Sue Manley and Carol Bickham; six great-nieces and two great-nephews and several great-great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Belinda Savage and brothers-in-law Bernard Cagle and Maurice Bickham.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity or church of choice.

Faye Echart, 91
Faye Echart, former resident of Commerce, died Friday in Hondo. Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until the service time Monday at Pemberton Funeral Home. Shane Carrington will officiate at the services.
Echart was born in Enloe, Texas, June 8, 1910, the daughter of P.V. and Ruby Eddington Carrington. She married Thomas Vester Echart in Hunt County on Nov. 20, 1926. She moved from Commerce to Hone in 1982 to be near relatives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. She was formerly an employee of Oak Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by daughter, Yvonne Nations and her husband, Robert, of Hondo; brother, Reese Carrington and his wife, June, of Colleyville; sister-in-law, Arreta Echart of Commerce; two grandchildren, Tobin Nations and Libby Schatz; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Vester Echart, Sept. 2, 1962; one infant son, Thomas Vester Echart, Jr.; one daughter, Sara E. Walsh; three brothers and one sister.

Willie G. Dawson, 80
Willie G. Dawson of Pecan Gap passed away Monday, Nov. 5 at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital-North in Paris.
Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. at the Pecan Gap Methodist Church with Walter Zimmerman of Sulphur Springs and David Yunker of Pecan Gap officiating. Interment will follow in the Pecan Gap Cemetery under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
Dawson, a resident of Pecan Gap all her life, was born in Windom, Jan. 2, 1921. She was the daughter of George William and Corrie Rodgers Woodard. She married Joe Leeman Dawson on Dec. 16, 1941. She retired from Hennington Publishing after working for 35 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pecan Gap.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Dawson of Pecan Gap; two daughters, Billie McCarrell of Rowlett and Barbara Finley of Cumby; brother, Joe Woodard of Henderson; five grandchildren, Kevin McCarrell, Kayla Plumlee, Jana Stancil, Darla Williams and Kristen Finley; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer McCarrell, Corey McCarrell, Jessie Plumlee, Kellsie Plumlee and Seth Williams. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Stancil in 1991; a sister, Christene Perry; and a brother, Malcom Woodard.

Troy Eugene Mantooth, 66
Funeral services for Troy Eugene Mantooth of Ore City were held yesterday, Nov. 6 at Pemberton Funeral Chapel in Commerce. Rev. Tony Pierce officiated and intermenty followed at Rosemound Cemetery. He died Nov. 4 at UT Health Center in Tyler.
Mantooth was born in Commerce, April 19, 1935, the son of Leonard Lee and Daisy Browning Mantooth. On May 25, 1953, he married Mattie Ashley. He had lived in Ore City for 20 years and was a carpenter by trade and Pentacostal by faith. He moved there from Mesquite.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Mantooth of Ore City; sons, Odis Gene Mantooth of Hughes Springs and David Joshua Mantooth of Springtown; dauthers, Mariena Dvorak of Azle and Jana Hicks of Boyd; sister, Naomi Singleton of Ore City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd Dale Mantooth.

Sam Wiley Cunningham, 65
Sam Wiley Cunningham, 65, of Oakridge, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, in Commerce.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Oakridge Church of Christ with Joe Wishard and Marvin Page officiating. Interment was in Oakridge Cemetery under the direction of the Delta Funeral Home.
Mr. Cunningham was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Fannin County. He was the son of Sam H. and Jewel (Wishard) Cunningham. He married Dortha Hicks Nov. 16, 1957. He was a truck driver and member of the Oakridge Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Dortha Cunningham of Oakridge; two sons, David Glynn Cunningham of Oakridge and Stephen Wiley and his wife, Arliss, of Caddo Mills; one daughter, Rhonda Kay Shinpaugh and her husband, John Ed, of Oakridge and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kevin Carder, Johnny Emerine, James Reel, Ed Pickard, Sammy Watson and Mitchell Hicks.

Rose Langione, 91
Rose Langione, 91, of Commerce, died Oct. 28, 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Calvary Hill Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment was in Calvary Hill Mausoleum.
Mrs. Langione was born July 12, 1910, in Providence, R.I. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Thomas Langione.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Graham and her husband, W.D. "Dub," and Joan Clare; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities.

Patsy Bell, 56
Patsy R. Bell of Greenville died Thursday at her residence. There was a graveside service at 2 p.m. yesterday at East Mount Cemetery with Rev. Vernell Nelson and Rev. Joyce Patterson officiating.
Daughter of J.C. Hampton and Laura Milne Hampton, she was born Dec. 7, 1944, in Corsicana. On July 26, 1985, she married Gerald Bell in Greenville. Bell was a nurse's aide and was a member of First Pentecostal Church of God.
Surviving are her husband of Greenville; her father of Greenville; three sons, Jay Jones of Greenville, Jerry Jones of Royse City and Jeff Jones of Wolfe City; daughter Janice Bumgardner of Wolfe City; a brother, Jimmy Hampton of Kansas; two sisters, Wanda Foster of Greenville and Shirley Butler of Charlottesville, Va., and six grandchildren. Her mother preceded her in death in 1996.

William Douglas Bowen, 80
Funeral services for William Douglas Bowen of El Paso, formerly of Cumby, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumby. Rev. Richard Deteau will officiate. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery with Howard Lee Strickland, Leon Higginbotham, Claude Higginbotham, Joe Higginbotham and Billy Claude Strickland serving as pallbearers. Bowen passed away Oct. 21, at El Paso Hospital.
Bowen was born March 8, 1921, in Cumby to Lee and Callie Douglas Bowen. He was a retired RCA television repairman. Bowen served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Cumby Funeral Home, I-30 North Service Road, 903-994-2229.

Lena Hamric, 85
Lena Hamric of Campbell died Oct. 24, in Sulphur Springs Nursing Home. Funeral services were held yesterday at Pemberton Funeral Chapel, with intermenty at Horton Cemetery.
Born Nov. 14, 1915, in Hunt County, the daughter of Jessie Ben and Martha Willingham Redman, she married Hubert Lonzal Hamric in San Angelo, Texas, June 7, 1957.
Hamric graduated from Cumby High School. She moved to Campbell from Greenville 27 years ago. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Greenville.
She is survived by daughter, Martha Busby and her husband, John, of Campbell; daughter, Della Elmore and her husband, Sammy, of Campbell; daughter, Margie Quisenberry and her husband, Wayne, of Campbell; daughter, Lucille Petry and her husband, Russ, of Cumby; sisters, Lizzie Lou Teel of Sherman, Frances Fouse of Horsthorn, Okla., and Opal Coffman of Commerce; 32 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Alvie Lee Nelson and Hubert Lonzal Hamric; five sons, Jessie Lee nelson, Billie Dean Nelson, John Earl Nelson, Joe Thomas Nelson and Donald Gene Nelson; one grandson, Donald Vincent Nelson; two great-grandsons, Russell Dewayne Skeen and Alvie Thomas Ross; and one sister, Margie Brookshire.

Frances Walker, 90
Graveside services for Frances Walker of Campbell were held yesterday at Brigham Cemetery in Campbell with Rev. David Hougham officiating. She passed away Jan. 20 in the Greencrest Nursing Home in Greenville. Pallbearers were Jacob Richardson, Josh Richardson, Jeremy LaCook, Jamie Morgan and Roberto Gudino. Cumby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 22, 1991, in Fort Scott, Kan., she was the daughter of John and Millie Eva Ogden. She married Ed Walker in Sherman, Texas. A homemaker, she was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Walker is survived by daughter-in-law, Lena Richardson of Campbell; brother, Jack Gramas of McAlester, Okla.; two sisters, Catherine Baker of Burbank, Calif., and Goldie Bice of Tulsa, Okla.' three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; son, M.K. Richardson; two brothers; one sister; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Dr. Alma McGee, 95
Funeral services for Dr. Alma McGee of Commerce were held yesterday at First Presbyterian Church, with graveside services following at Gray Rock Cemetery in Winfield, Texas. Rev. Elisha Paschal officiated at the services arranged by Pemberton Funeral Home. She died Jan. 19 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
McGee was born in Franklin County, Texas, the daughter of Marion Francis and Annie Lou Talbott McLemore. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1924 and received a teaching certificate from East Texas Teachers College and taught elementary school in East Texas before World War II, then worked for the government during the war. She received her bachelor's degree in science from East Texas Teachers College in 1940 and her PhD degree in science from Texas Woman's University in Denton in 1958. She moved from New Boston, Texas, to Commerce in 1958. She taught home economics and later became Home Demonstration Agent in Madison and Bowie County. McGee then taught homemaking for 19 years in Commerce and retired in 1976. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Delphian Club, Bridge Club and Shakespeare Club in Dallas.
Survivors include her son, Marvin McGee and his wife, Beverly, of Mesquite; two granddaughters, Yvonne Hall and her husband, Stan, of Mesquite and Renee McGee of Mesquite; and two great-grandsons, Peter and Daniel Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas.

Charlie Clark, 90
Graveside services were held Jan. 18 at Rosemound Cemetery for Charlie Clark of Commerce. Pemberton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She died at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce Jan. 16.
Born Feb. 26, 1911, in Hunt County, Clark was the daughter of John C. and Leana Loftis Rowe. She had been married to Paul "Buddy" Clark. Clark was a longtime resident of Commerce. She was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was a former member of a square dance club.
Clark is survived by several sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, March 13, 1988; one brother and one sister.
