Zoie Tucker, age 76, of Terrell, Texas, passed away Jan. 11, 2008. She was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Fall River, Mass., to Simon and Amelia Sweet. Mrs. Tucker was a homemaker and member of St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Forney.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy and wife Gerri, of Sulphur Springs, Steve and wife Vickie of Cumby, and David and wife Linda of Rockwall; a daughter, Terry McBeth and husband Jackie of Terrell; brothers Eddie Sweet of Shoreham, N.Y., and Ernest Sweet of Warren, Mich; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harley Tucker; and brothers Emil, Mayer and Mitchell Sweet.
Funeral services under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Robert Crisp officiating.
Horace Isom Jr.
Horace George Isom Jr., 65, of Campbell died Jan. 13, 2008, in Tyler. A graveside service was scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce under the direction of Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.
Born July 2, 1942, he was the son of Horace George Sr. and Betty June Meeks Isom. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Isom was a retired engineer.
Survivors are son David Isom and wife Shannon and grandchildren Riley Isom, Emma Isom and Levi Isom, all of Campbell.
His parents preceded him in death.
Earl Prince
QUINLAN — Earl Prince, 68, resident of Commerce, died Jan. 14, 2008, at Oak Manor Nursing Home. His memorial service was held at 7 jp.m Jan. 18, in the Quinlan Funeral Home chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Prince was born May 20, 1939, in Campbell, son of Charley Peterson and Maggie Rebecca (Henry) Prince. He was a carpenter.
Mr. Prince is survived by his daughter, Linda K. Haynes of Cooper; two sisters, Betty Fouse and Nita Shaver of Commerce; two brothers, Harold Prince of Commerce and Calvin Prince of Sulphur Springs; two grandsons; stepdaughter Sherry Williams, and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Alvin Prince; and a brother, Raymond Prince in 2005.

Dr. Billy Webb
Dr. Billy Ray Webb, 78, of Campbell died Jan. 17, 2008, at his home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Commerce with Brother David Gibson officiating. Burial was in Delight Cemetery in Delight, Ark.
Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce was in charge of arrangements.
Son of G. Claude and Pinkie Mae Barker Webb, he was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Billstowne, Ark. He married Jane McCorkle in April 1955 in Nashville, Ark. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received his BSA and MS from the University of Arkansas and earned his PhD at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb. He retired as a professor from Texas A&M University-Commerce, earning professor emeritus status.
Dr. Webb enjoyed mission work. An elder of the Church of Christ, he did mission work in India for more than 14 years which involved 10 trips to India.
He was owner and operator of the snow cone stand in Commerce on the corner of Park and Maple and was known to many children as the snow cone man.
He was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, a past president of Lions Club, held membership in many professional organizations and was a member of the Nickel Coffee Club. Dr. Webb was head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Texas A&M-Commerce for 16 years and was instrumental in developing social work and criminal justice programs.
Surviving are his wife of Campbell; two children, Kelly Ray Webb and wife Lisa of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Ava Sheree Turner and husband Gary of Wylie; grandchildren Zach Turner and Marindia Turner, both of Wylie, and Kelsey Webb, Makayla Webb, Makenzie Webb and Jakob Webb, all of Prairie Grove, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Helen Webb of Benton, Ark.; nieces; nephews and a host of friends.
His parents; a brother, G. Kelly Webb; and a sister, Lois Vale, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Mike Anderson, Roy Childs, Leon Summerlin, Joe Davis, Howard Lambert, Phil Nichols and Todd Martin. Members of the Lions Club and Nickel Coffee Club were honorary pallbearers.

Carolyn Mahon
PARIS — Carolyn Elaine Mahon, 59, of Paris died Jan. 14, 2008, at her residence.
Carolyn was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Commerce, daughter of William Leslie and Willie Ethel Lawson Stroud. She was a health care provider.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky Canup and Michael Canup; grandchildren Chad, Brandi Canup, Krissy Pate, Shandi Bannister and Rebecca Tanner; great grandchild Isabella; and a sister, Regina Kay Stooksberry.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m., Jan. 17, in the Dodd City Cemetery in Dodd City with Rev. Terry Holley officiating.
Pallbearers were Ed Handley, Johnny Ballard, Kendall Atwood, Derrell Atwood, and Marty Hicks.

Carolyn Beck
TERRELL — Carolyn J. Beck, 62, of Terrell left this world to be with God on the afternoon of Jan. 12, 2008, in Tyler at the Hospice of East Texas.
Carolyn was born to Vaughn M. and Jennie (Benskin) Beck on Sept. 18, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan., and grew up on a farm in Bucyrus, Kan. After graduating from Spring Hill High School, she attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan. She later moved to California where she completed a bachelor of arts degree in music education from California State University at Long Beach in 1968. She married and moved to Commerce where she later earned a master of science degree with a music major and minor in radio/TV in 1982 and a master of science degree in counseling and guidance in 1984, both from East Texas State University. Carolyn began her professional career in higher education as a counselor, first at Prairie View A&M University in 1988, then at San Jacinto Community College in 1989. She later was an academic counselor for Trinity Valley Community College in Athens in 1994, and in 2002 moved to the Kaufman campus to become the nursing counselor, where she remained until her retirement in August 2007.
Carolyn touched so very many lives during her career and lifetime, and she made a difference in the life of every student with whom she connected. She enjoyed working outdoors, was an avid gardener, a collector of antiques and appreciated art and music of all kinds. She took great joy in nature, movies, playing with her grandchildren and the Kansas City Chiefs! She will be missed more than words can say, but will always be with us in our hearts.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Christina Duncan and husband Rob of Castle Rock, Colo.; her son, Damon Yates and wife Emily of Commerce; grandchildren Sarah, Beck and Cate Duncan of Castle Rock, Colo.; brothers Leon Beck of Olathe, Kan., and Bruce Beck of Peculiar, Mo.; former husband Ron Yates of Dallas; and numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Carolyn’s life was held at 2 p.m., Jan. 27, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell.

Leonard Jordan
WINNSBORO — Leonard J. Jordan, 79, of Winnsboro died Jan. 18, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Beaty Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Richard “Nub” Brown officiating. Burial followed in Leesburg Cemetery.
The youngest child of the late George W. and Callie Coe Jordan, he was born on April 5, 1928, in Pittsburg. He served 18 months in the U. S. Navy, and he married Patsy Mitcham on July 14, 1951, and they moved to Winnsboro.
He was a retired oil field worker for Delhi Oil Company and was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Pat Jordan, on June 21, 2000; his parents, George and Callie Jordan; seven brothers and sisters; grandson Justin Nelson; great-grandson Terrance Hughes; and son-in-law Michael Hunter.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debra King and husband Ricky of Winnsboro, Janie Lamm of Commerce and Vickie Monday and husband David; 14 grandchildren, Kristin Fuller, Kimberly Nelson, Mitcham Nelson, Jennifer Baker, Jordan Baker, Jay Hunter, Jessica Hunter, Jonathan Hunter, Adam King, Kailey King, Kaden King, Matthew Monday, Miranda Monday and Michael Monday; six great-grandchildren, Tori Fuller, Keaton Light, Kaista Light, Payton Baker, Crissy Alsobrook and Victoria Fuller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bill Rex Mitcham, Robert Mitcham, Steve Parker, Ronnie Jordan, Ronnie Shurr and Dickey Shurr. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky King, David Monday, Mitcham Nelson, Jay Hunter, Jonathan Hunter and Alan Barker.

Dennis Padilla, 62, of Commerce died Jan. 21, 2008, at his home. A memorial service was scheduled at 3 p.m. Wednesday at New Covenant Fellowship in Emory with Tony Clawson, Jim Knewburg and Terry Bryan officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Morrison Cemetery in Rudy, Ark. Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of arrangements.
Born Sept. 18,1945, in Albion, Mich., he was the son of Isabel and Petra Fonseca Padilla. Mr. Padilla was a subcontractor, painter and tape and bedder.
Survivors are his wife, Rebecca Padilla; children Dennis Padilla, David Pitti Padilla, Billy Padilla, Angela Russell and Israel Padilla; brothers and sisters Jose Padilla, Juana Gomez, Miguel Padilla, Isabel Padilla, Yolanda Emerline, Marcela Pizano and Betto Padilla; 10 grandchildren; his father-in-law, Jim McDowell; and many beloved nieces, nephews and other family members.
