He was born Friday to Steve and Jamie Henslee of Farmersville.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, Hunter Henslee of Farmersville and grandparents Joyce and Garland Phillips of Farmersville and Donna and David Best of Cransfills Gap.
Vera Ivey
MESQUITE " Vera Bell Ivey of Terrell died Sunday. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park.
She was born March 12, 1919.
Surviving are children Buddy G. Ivey Jr. of Palestine, Billy M. Ivey of Athens, Linda K. Gragsone of Terrell and Rex A. Ivey of Terrell; a sister, Geneva Williams of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Grover Ivey Sr., daughter Carolyn Ann McCarter and grandson James D. Gragsone.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home.
Don Mitchell
GARLAND " Don Q. Mitchell, 73, of Garland, has died. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel, 1910 Eastgate Drive, with Rev. Brad Strand officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
Mr. Mitchell was employed by Southwestern Bell for 34 years until his retirement in 1980.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Tommie Mitchell; sons Larry Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell and Bill Mitchell; daughters Linda Fitzgerald and Phyllis Buchholz; a sister, Teddie Mae Spradling; a brother Fred L. Mitchell; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Bobby H. Mitchell, preceded him in death.
Benjamin Rothman
PITTSBURGH, Penn. " Benjamin B. Rothman, 91, of Sugarland, formerly of Pittsburgh, Penn., died Sunday. A service is scheduled at Burton L. Hirsch Chapel in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Burial is in Temple Sinai Memorial Park in Plum Boro, Penn.
Mr. Rothman is survived by a daughter, Susan Chetlin of Greenville; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Rothman and a brother, Saul Rothman.

Aline Shanks
LEONARD " Funeral services for Aline Shanks, 79, of Celeste are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Leonard, with Rev. James Ralson officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
She died Monday at Leonard Nursing Home.
The daughter of Dee Witt Smith and Lucy McDaniel Smith, she was born Dec. 31, 1921 in Wetumka, Okla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste and was a housewife.
Surviving are a daughter, Lucy Ann Gibson of Celeste; a sister, Pauline Archer of Frankfort, Ohio; a brother, W.A. Smith of Calgary, Canada and two grandsons.
Her husband, W.A. Shanks, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mabel Biffle
Mabel Biffle, 90, of Greenville, died Sunday morning at Greencrest Manor. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Grodon Grammar and Rick Henslee officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Biffle was born on Aug. 19, 1910, in Merit to Mack and Eva Pugh. She married Herman Biffle in Greenville in 1957.
She worked for a number of years at Henson-Kickernick and was a member of Southside Church of Christ.
Surviving are grandsons Bart Calahan of Greenville and Chris Calahan of Missouri; great-grandchildren Corey Calahan, Shane Calahan, Jennifer Calahan and Heather Calahan; and sisters Jessie LaFavers of Celeste and Stella Sampson, Maxie Gilmore and Alma Jones of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Dorothy Calahan and a sister, Alvis Roden.
Pallbearers are Wayne Gilmore, Steve Gilmore, Eddie Stonestreet, David Bolton, Larry LaFavers and Robert Yancey.
Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
James Hawthorne
James Ennis Hawthorne, 75, of Greenville died Saturday evening at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Riley Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1925, in Princeton to Everett Walker and ArDena Evans Hawthorne. He married Bobbie Martin on May 24, 1947, in Royse City. Mr. Hawthorne was an area sales representative for R.J. Reynolds and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, Odd Fellows, Masonic Lodge and Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife; sons James Hawthorne and Tim Hawthorne of Irving; grandchildren Cynthia Hawthorne of Greenville, James Leon Hawthorne Jr. of Cedar Hill, Corbie Neal of Dallas and Dereck Ann Hawthorne of Irving; sisters Noveline Watson of Mesquite and Maurine Sampson of Dallas and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers will be James Hawthorne, Jerry Watson, Gerald Jones, James Leon Hawthorne Jr., and Bill Ball.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Chapel.
Lurlene L. Long
CARROLLTON " Former Hunt County resident Lurlene L. Long died Jan. 24. Graveside services were at Sparkman Hillcrest Friday with Rev. Danny Calk officiating.
She was born in Cash on Nov. 25, 1903, the oldest of five chilren of F.L. and Maggie Pace. She was married to J.C. Long who preceded her in death. She lived in Greenville for many years and then in a Lake Tawakoni retirement community near Lone Oak before moving to Dallas four years ago.
Surviving are three children, Barbara Joan Conroy, Betty LaRue Ross and Larry LaRue of Dallas; two grandchilren, five grandchildren and a brother, Lisco Pace of Montgomery, Ala. Also preceding her in death were two sister, Lorene Sockwell and Lolita Roberts, and a brother, Lionel Pace.

Lawrence Pannell
COMMERCE " Lawrence Pannell of Commerce died Friday at Oak Manor Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with burial Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce. Rev. Harold Pannell will officiate.
Mr. Pannell was born in Sulphur Springs on Dec. 20, 1926, to Roosevelt and Verter Pannell. He married Mattie P. Fagans on April 29, 1950, in Sulphur Springs. He was a member of Bethel Temple Church of God In Christ.
Surviving are his wife; sons Najeen Pannell, Ernie Pannell, Melvin Pannell and Cedric Pannell of Commerce, David Pannell and Norman Pannell of Dallas and Lawrence Pannell of Port Arthur; two daughters, Mary Dean and Nora Blair of Commerce; three brothers, Horace Pannell of Commerce, James Pannell of Wolfe City and Eddie Pannell of Euless; six sisters, Princella Johnson, Louise Adair, Maxine wilson, Rosella Smith and Earnestine Drennon of Commerce and Reba Harper of Euless; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Perry Pannell, Eddie Pannell, Courtney Dugan, Darron Drennon, Cerry Pannell and Clarence Gould.

Leota Rogers
WOLFE CITY " Leota Myrle Rogers, 76, of Wolfe City, died Saturday evening at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Owens Funeral Chapel with Elmer Smalley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
She was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Washington, Ind., to Thomas E. and Hazel Greenwood Chapman. She was a member of Full Gospel Evangelical Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Marticia Rogers Lamb of Wolfe City; a son, Robert Allen Rogers of Texico, New Mexico; grandchildren Brian A. Rogers, William A. Rogers, Amanda R. Heinrich, Thomas A Lamb, James A. Lamb and Carrie R. Lamb and a great-grandson, Kyle Blake Heinrich. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

J.B. Ivy
GLEN ROSE - J.B. (Jay) Ivy, 80, of Glen Rose, died Saturday at his residence following a long battle with cancer. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Glen Rose. Burial will be at Squaw Creek Cemetery.
Born Feb. 8, 1920 in Celeste, Mr. Ivy served in the U.S. Air Force in 1940 and married Abbie Lee Coker April 10, 1940 in Merit. They moved to Glen Rose in 1941.
He is survived by his wife of Glen Rose; three daughters, Sharon Wiley of Granbury, Judy Gibson of Granbury, and Angie Edwards of Glen Rose; one brother, Billy Joe Ivy of Greenville; five grandchildren; one great grandson; and 6 step great-grandchildren.

Charles Weatherly
Charles Lee "T.C." Weatherly, 32, of Greenville died Thursday at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m.today at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Nance and Rev. Lloyd McKinney officiating. Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Adams, Ruben Rodriguez, Chad Cox, Ray Barker, Jamie Hubert, Donny Drummond and Stan Morrow.
Born June 2, 1968, he was the son of Charles Dan Weatherly and Wilma Jean Weatherford Weatherly.
Mr. Weatherly was a receptionist at Super Cuts in Mesquite. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by his parents of Greenville; two sisters Carolyn Drummond of Emory, and Cindy Qualls of Greenville, two nephews, and a niece.
Charlie Burnside
Charlie S. Burnside, 95, of Greenville died Friday morning at Briarcliff Health Center. No public services are planned.
Born Sept. 2, 1905 in Greenville, he was the son of Charles S. Burnside and Emma Turner Burnside. He married Elisabeth Wood in Commerce on Oct. 28, 1933. Mr. Burnside was a retired paint contractor.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sandra Burnside of Austin; a daughter, Claire Burnside of Little Elm and grandchildren Mary Elisabeth Burnside of Austin and John C. Burnside of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993 and sisters Winnie Smith, Chrystal Shine, Madolyn Moore and Mable Thornton.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Dr. Mary Childress
LONGVIEW " Dr. Mary E. Ragan Childress died Thursday. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church in Longview at 10 a.m. Monday.
She was born Jan. 25, 1915 in Duncan, Okla. and grew up in Greenville. She graduated with honors from Texas College of Optometry, now known as University of Houston College of Optometry. In 1939 she married Raymond C. Childress, O.D. in 1939 and moved to Longview.
A pioneer in the field of optometry, she specialized in the treatment of vision and behavioral abnormalities from strabismus and high astigmatism to brain injured and attention deficit hyperactivity disordered individuals.
She held numerous positions in the optometry field associations including president of East Texas Optometric Society. She was a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, College of Optometrists in Vision Development and Southwest Contact Lens Society.
Dr. Childress received many awards including "Noteworthy Practitioner," Betta Sigma Kappa, "Honorary Life Member," American Optometric Foundation, "Who's Who in American Women" and the "World Who's Who of Women," "Optometrist of the Year Award," TOA, "Optometric Recognition Award," AOA and "G.N. Getman Award for Excellence in Optometry," College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
She lectured nationwide to colleagues and students of Optometry and many of her scientific contributions were published.
Dr. Childress was a member of the First Baptist Church in Longview. She was also two-term president of the Zonta Club and secretary of the Aaron Burleson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Surviving are daughter Mary Louise Coughlin of Plano; son Dr. Carl Childress of Longview; three brothers, Howard and Richard Ragan of Duncanville and Bill Ragan of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Charlotte Stricklin of Chandler and Joyce Dawson of Greenville; five grandchildren; one stepgrandchild and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and seven brothers and sisters.

Irene Swinson
COMMERCE " Thelma Irene Swinson, 75, of Wolfe City died Thursday at Smith Nursing Center in Wolfe City. A graveside service is set at 11 a.m. today at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie with Rev. Clifton Julian officiating.
Daughter of W.J. Johnson and Rhodie Hardin Johnson, she was born Aug. 21, 1925 in Commerce. Mrs. Swinson was a retired cafeteria server at MSC at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University-Commerce). She was a member of Durham Baptist Church.
Mrs. Swinson is survived by her husband, Charles Wayne Swinson of Durham Community; a son, Junior Eudy of Commerce; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Thelma Ford in 2000 and a sister, Gladys Ivy.

WOLFE CITY " Jessie Mae Compton, 72, of Dallas died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas following a three-week illness. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Terry Blankenship and John Dean officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The daughter of Gilbert O. and Elsie Mae Hagen Bagley, she was born March 28, 1928 in Center, N.D. She married Ernest Alvie Compton Jr.
Mrs. Compton was a hair stylist.
She is survived by a son, Mark Allen Compton Sr. of Dallas; a brother, Guy M. Bagley of Templeton, Calif. and two grandchildren, Mark Allen Compton Jr. of White Pegeon, Mich. and Jessica Marie Compton of Middlebury, Ind.
Pallbearers are Eddie Gillis, Steve Gillis, Vincent Bell, Corey Collier, Cody Collier, Brian Vestal, Matthew Conger and Aaron Conger.

Born Sept. 8, 1942 in Ponca City, Okla., he was the son of William and Fannie Long Price. Mr. Price worked in real estate sales.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Price of Quinlan; a son, James Price; two daughters, Sherry Dunn and Donna James; two brothers, Bill Price and Jerry Price and seven grandchildren.
