BONHAM - Services for Lewis B. "Sonny" Almon Jr., 71, of Mabank are scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eubank Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Teague and Rev. Steve Glosup officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow at Cedar Creek Memorial Park in Van Zandt County. He died Nov. 23 in Dallas following a sudden illness.
He was born July 21, 1929 in Campbell to Maurine Hudson and Lewis B. Almon Sr. A former Dallas resident, he was a 1948 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.
Mr. Almon was a Korean War veteran and held dual membership in the Jewel P. Lightfoot Masonic Lodge 1283 AF&AM and Cedar Creek Lake Masonic Lodge 1431 AF&AM. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Almon was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Dallas Power & Light before choosing the US Postal Service for a career. He transferred with the Postal Data Center from Dallas to Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. in 1973 before retiring in 1979.
Surviving are his daughter Catherine D. Stringer and husband Kenneth of Mabank; a sister, Elizabeth Marshall of Garland; two granddaughters, Cynthia Bailey of Mesquite and Stephanie Stringer of Mabank; grandson Scott Stringer of Kilgore; two great-grandsons, Robert and Brandon Bailey of Mesquite and numerous other relatives.
A sister, Geraldine Lake, preceded him in death.
Naoma Armstrong
Naoma Armstrong, 76, of Commerce died Saturday at a Denison hospital. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wolfe City with Rev. Wayne Aimes officiating. Burial is in West Chapel Cemetery in Newsome.
She was born Jan. 12, 1924 in Pittsburg to James and Cobella Irving. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wolfe City.
Surviving are three sons, Bobby Armstrong of Wolfe City, Marshall Armstrong of Plano and Joe Armstrong of Florida; a daughter, Neomi Mott of Rockport; brothers Jimmy Irving and Will James Irving, both of Pittsburg and Glenn Irving of Wichita Falls; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, one brother and one son.
Pallbearers are grandsons Alton Armstrong, Greg Armstrong, Bruce Armstrong, Don Armstrong, Charles Armstrong, Eugene Turner, Tyrone Turner, and William Mott.
Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home in Greenville.
William Evans Jr.
PITTSBURG, Texas - William "Will" Evans Jr., 18, of Caddo Mills died Monday at his residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Hargest and Rev. Charles Thomas officiating. Burial is in the Pittsburg Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born March 17, 1982 to William Lloyd and Ora Faye Evans. He attended Caddo Mills High School.
Surviving are his mother of Caddo Mills; father of California; brothers, Wesley Evans, Randal Evans and Thomas Evans, and James Rogers of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers are Barry Mosley, Urike Bates, George Bates, Damien Porter, Kenneth Bates and Nicomi Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Julius Neal, Ricky Neal, Micheal Pondexter Jr., Donald Veasley, Robert Crowder and Bobby Crowder Jr.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Grundy Funeral Home in Greenville, which is in charge of arrangements.
Ova Hamilton
LEONARD - Funeral services for Ova Deel Hamilton, 95, of Leonard, are at 11 a.m. today at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elmer Miller officiating. Burial will be in Leonard Cemetery.
Mrs. Hamilton died Thursday in Bedford.
The daughter of John M. Deel and Mary Anderson Deel, she was born Sept. 29, 1905 in Leonard. On Sept. 22, 1928 she was married to Hubert Warren Hamilton in Leonard.
Mrs. Hamilton was a housewife and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Patsy Burgin of Colleyville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.
Charlie Mayberry
Charlie Mayberry, 40, of Dallas died Monday at Mesquite Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Richland Baptist Church of Point with Dwight Smith officiating.
Mr. Mayberry was born May 16, 1960, in Sulphur Springs; the son of Charley and Aretha Mayberry.
Surviving are his mother; brothers, Sammie Williamson, Edward Dial, Audrey Mayberry and Stevie Mayberry and sisters, Loretta Payne, Annie Cotton, Beverly Brown, Sheila Chisum and Bonita Givens.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carmel Saenz
COMMERCE - Carmel R. Saenz, 65, of Greenville died Thursday morning at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville of complications of Parkinson's disease. A funeral mass is at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Williams Catholic Church in Greenville. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born July 16, 1935 in Celeste, she was the daughter of Marcelina Rodriguez and Jesse Rodriguez. She was a graduate of Celeste High School and East Texas State Teachers College, now Texas A&M University at Commerce.
Mrs. Saenz taught school for many years in the San Isidro Independent School District before her family returned to Greenville where she was employed by Rubbermaid, Inc. for more than 16 years before having to take a medical retirement.
She was a long-standing member of St. Williams Catholic Church and a member of the Hunt County Professional Women's Club where she was chosen the Woman of the Year for 1987-88 and 1997-98. She also served on the Greenville Electric Utility Systems Board of Trustees in 1996.
Mrs. Saenz and her sister Teresa started a Parkinson's Support Group in Greenville in 1998.
Surviving are children Steven M. Saenz and wife Kimberly, John M. Saenz and wife Kristi of Greenville and Cindy A. Lucero and husband Cesar of Pflugerville; her mother; sisters Teresa and Mickie Rodriguez and brother Modesto Rodriguez, all of Greenville; brothers Joe Rodriguez of Fort Worth, Jesse Rodriguez Jr. of McKinney, sisters Mary Pacheco of San Antonio and Tommie Moon of Bedford; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Parkinson's Disease Association.
There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. today at St. Williams Catholic Church.

Eunice Green
Eunice Trotter Green, 82, of Greenville, died Tuesday morning at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. There is a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating.
She was born Dec. 16, 1917 in Celeste; the daughter of Guy and Sara Trotter.
Mrs. Trotter retired from the photo finishing business after 28 years and moved to Greenville. She was a volunteer for Women In Need. She was a Methodist.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Marie and Tim Lindsey of Greenville; a brother, Charles Trotter of Greenville; sister Mildred Williams of College Station and one grandson, T.J. Lindsey of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and eight sisters.

Mildred Swafford
Mildred Fay Swafford, 83, of Garland died Sunday at her residence. Funeral services are at the First Church of the Nazarene, Greenville, at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Darrell Keith officiating. A graveside service is at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
Born Oct. 30, 1917 in Hunt County, she was the daughter of William T. O'Hara and Elizabeth Ramsey. On Oct. 24, 1953 she married Marvin Swafford Jr. in Dallas.
Mrs. Swafford was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are a son, Dan Ford of San Antonio; a daughter, Shelia Reid of Garland; brother Herman O'Hara of Fort Worth; sisters Inez McKay of Greenville, Margaret Jones of Mesquite, Frances Gillespie of Vandalia, Ohio; Barbara Rockwell of Poolville and Martha Darnell of Roanoke; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 10, 1995; two daughters, Patsy Ford and Linda Ford and three sisters.
Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
