Jo Lynne Kizer
COMMERCE " Services for Jo Lynne "Jody" Kizer, 57, are at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with Dr. Mike House officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington, Kans. She died Thursday at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas following a battle with cancer.
Ms. Kizer was born Sept. 16, 1943 in Junction City, Kans. to Harvey J. and Ruth Elizabeth Schmidt Riffel. She grew up in Kansas and later owned and operated the J Bar P Western Store in Herington, Kans.
She moved to Commerce in August, 1985, and on April 28, 1990, she was married to Roger Kizer.
Ms. Kizer began her employment at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University-Commerce) as a graduation advisor in the Registrar's Office in January, 1986. She transferred to the President's Office as an administrative assistant in January, 1989. She retired from the university in 2000 because of health reasons.
Surviving are her husband of Commerce; children, Cary Eugene Bryant and wife, Beth, and Mitchell James Bryant and wife, Jennifer, all of Hope, Kans., Michelle Kizer, Theresa Kizer, Vernon Kizer and wife, Mendy, all of Commerce; grandchildren, Kristy Kay Bryant, Ty Eugene Bryant, Cole Augustus Bryant, Chelsea Kay Bryant, Shelby Lynn Bryant, Brody James Bryant, Morgan Michelle Turner, Chase Dylan Kizer and Sarah Megan Kizer; father and stepmother, Harvey and Dorothy Riffel of Salina, Kans.; sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Ed Farry of Colorado Springs, Colo.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vernon and Maggilen Kizer of Commerce; sister-in-law and husband, Beulah and Truitt Gilbreath of Corsicana; nieces and nephews, Christopher Farry, Caitlen Farry, Jeff McMullen, Joel McMullen, Heather McMullen Baldwin and Teri Gilbreath.
She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Karen Riffel McMullin.
Pallbearers are Conner John, William Haddock, Ronny Anderson, Buddy Farrell, Gene Lockhart and Larry Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Glenda Anderson, Sharon Crump, Betty Davidson, Linda King, Loretta Shaffer, Lisa Blackwell and Dr. Jerry Morris.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pemberton Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Floyd Miller
EMORY " Floyd Miller, 71, of Emory, died Thursday at his home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy D. Shedd officiating. Burial is in Hopewell Cemetery in Gilmer.
Born in Upshur County on Aug. 12, 1929, he was the son of John Calvin and Connie Gaston Miller. He married Mary Edmonds Miller in New Mexico in 1950.
Mr. Miller was a self-employed dirt contractor. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Emory; his mother, Loucinda Miller of Quitman; two sons, Robert Miller of The Colony and David "Max" Miller of Dallas; daughters Rhonda Wilkinson of Sulphur Springs and Vickie Seres of Austin; two brothers, Dale Miller of Brackettville and Jerry Miller of Germany; sister Hazel Garrison of McAlester, Okla.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and six brothers.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gerald Cranford
COMMERCE " Gerald Bryan Cranford, 65, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Commerce, died Wednesday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike House officiating. Burial is in Rosemound Cemetery.
Born June 26, 1935 in Kemp, he was the son of Albert Bryan Cranford and Helen Pippen. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1951 and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from East Texas State University.
Mr. Cranford was commissioned through the ROTC program and served at Ellington Air Force Base in San Antonio. He represented Texas in the American Pavilion in 1958 at the World's Fair in Brussels, Belgium.
Mr. Cranford lived and worked overseas for more than 40 years; the last 35 years were with the University of Maryland Overseas Campus Program on military bases.
Surviving are two brothers, Bill Cranford and Skip McHam. both of Houston; sisters and brother-in-law Judy Summers Burns of Rogers, Ark. and Jean and Duaine Appleton of Plano; two nephews and wives, Dee and Sue Appleton of Allen and Brian and Gina Summers of Coral Springs, Fla.; niece and husband Julie and Craig Campbell of Austin and five great nieces and nephews, Alex and Kristy Appleton of Allen, Duncan Campbell of Austin and Tye and Sierra Summers of Coral Springs, Fla.
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the Circle of Life Hospice, 610 East Emma, Springdale, Ark. 72764.

Robert Fell
COMMERCE " Robert F. Fell, 48, of Greenville died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. A memorial service is set at 2 p.m. today at Park Street Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. Tommy Weems officiating.
The son of Tom Fell and LaVerne Jordan Fell, he was born Aug. 13, 1952 in Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. Fell was a self-employed press operator. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church, Greenville.
He is survived by his father of Dallas; his mother, LaVerne Hogue of Dallas; daughters Delaina Knorr of Dallas and Kristy M. Fell of Greenville; mother of his children, Linda S. James of Greenville and a sister, Ann Fell of Dallas.
Memorials may be made to Robert F. Fell Estate Trust Account, American National Bank of Texas, P.O. Box 822, Greenville, 75402.

Katie Geesey
Katie Mae Geesey, 86, of Longmont, Colo. died Tuesday in Boulder County Hospice Care Center in Lewisville, Colo. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, Greenville with Rev. Stone Risinger and Dr. Raymond A. Boulter Jr. officiating. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 21, 1915 in Greenville, daughter of William Oscar Smithers and Vallie Sue Dove Holder Smithers. On Oct. 27, 1936 she was married to Forrest Geesey in Greenville.
Mrs. Geesey was secretary at Central Christian Church for 25 years and she was a member of Central Christian.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Pattie and Chris Williams of Longmont, Colo. and Genie and Art Moeller of Tool; a brother and sister-in-law, W.O. and Diane Smithers of Tyler; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sep. 29, 1991; a grandson, Steve Hulsey in 1998 and son-in-law George Hulsey in 1997.
Pallbearers are Bill Burnett, Larry Parisey, Charles Jaco, Tim Wooten, Robert LyBrand and John Mobley. Honorary pallbearers are Members of Master Builders Sunday school class at Central Christian Church.

Pat Low
Pat A. Low, 61, of Greenville, died Thursday morning at her residence. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
The daughter of P.H. Elam and Maurine Scoggin, she was born Aug. 11, 1939 in Fannin County. She and James R. Low were married Aug. 13, 1960 in Iowa Park.
Mrs. Low was a homemaker and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of Greenville; two daughters, Darla Wallace and Twyla Oliver; brothers Jerry W. Elam, Earl Elam and Tom Elam and three grandchildren.
A sister, Evelyn Allison, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Oben Minyard
Oben Eugene Minyard, 80, of Greenville died Wednesday at Rockwall Nursing Home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Born Aug. 5, 1920 in Indianola, Okla., he was the son of Albert Ossie Minyard and Goldie Shropshire. He married Patricia Agnew on Nov. 3, 1950 in Lawrence, Kan.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Minyard was an insurance sales representative. He was a lifetime member of D.A.V.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons Ron Minyard and Stephen Minyard of Greenville and Randolph Minyard of Celeste; a daughter, Nelda Moates of Garden City, Kan.; two brothers, A.O. Minyard of Tulsa, Okla. and James R. Minyard of Oklahoma City, Okla. and two grandchildren.
His parents and a grandson preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elmer Ragland
Elmer E. Ragland, 60, of Campbell died Wednesday morning at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. There is a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Simmons Cemetery with Tommy Weems officiating.
He was born May 30, 1940 in Bedford, son of Powell B. Ragland and Margaret Rhodes.
Mr. Ragland was a produce truck driver.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Lowhon of Campbell; a son and daughter-in-law, Elmer Ray and Brenda Ragland of Campbell; a daughter, Teresa Mask of Cumby; brother Robert Edward Ragland of Campbell and four grandchildren.
His father preceded him in death.
Pallbearers are Robert Mask, Darrell Ragsdale and John Graham.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Carol Robinson
ROWLETT " Carol Robinson, 53, of Rowlett died Thursday in Dallas. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel with Rick Flowers officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park, Greenville.
The daughter of John David and Carol Pursley Huff, she was born Sept. 3, 1947.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Mesquite.
Surviving are her husband, Jodie Robinson of Rowlett; sons Russell Wells of Greenville and Darrell Wells of Garland; two daughters, Rhonda McFarland of Greenville and Raina Hill of Copeville; mother and stepfather, Carol and Michael Byrne of Greenville; sisters Gail Inman of Graham, Sherry Davidson of Greenville and Sheila McMullin of Red Oak; two brothers, Larry Huff of Wylie and Jeffery Huff of Garland and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Sammy Huff.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maurine Webb
LEONARD " Funeral services for Maurine Webb, 92, of Garland, formerly of Leonard, are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Casey Ingold officiating. Burial is in Valley Creek Cemetery near Leonard.
Mrs. Webb died Thursday at Baylor Hospital in Garland.
She was born Feb. 25, 1909 in Valley Creek, daughter of William Alexander Steele and Susan Grace Tucker Steele. On May 4, 1929 she was married to Bennie Leon Webb in Valley Creek.
Mrs. Webb was a member of the Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite. She was a caregiver at Golden Acres Nursing Home.
Surviving are sons David Leon Webb of Garland, Teddy D. Webb of Rowlett and Gene C. Webb of Seagoville; a brother, Billy J. Steele of Valley Creek; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1983.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Franklin Gholston
Franklin Eugene Gholston, 45, of Seattle, Wash. died July 25. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah Temple Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. Harold Pannell officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.
He was born in Commerce on June 19, 1956, son of Thomas G. and Georgia Mae Reynolds Gholston. He married Linda Whitten in Seattle in 1982. Mr. Gholston worked in apartment management. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are his father of Dallas; his mother of Commerce; a son, Franklin Gholston Jr. of Seattle, Wash.; daughter Anette Gholston of Seattle; two brothers, Thomas R. Gholston of Dallas and Robert Gholston of Portland, Ore. and a sister, Nora Diane Bowser of Dallas.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Kennie Champion, Ronnie Wilson, Greg Jackson, Eric Clayton, Barry Pannell, Arron Massey.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home of Greenville.

Wilson Alverson
COMMERCE - Wilson W. "Bear Tracks" Alverson, 78, of Cumby, formerly of Commerce, died Sunday in Sulphur Springs. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Ditmar officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cumby.
Son of Avery Lee Alverson and Della McComic Alverson, he was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Boswell, Okla. On July 21, 1957, he married Dora Vinson in Commerce. A longtime resident of Commerce, he had lived in Cumby for the past 18 years. He was raised in South Sulphur and attended Neyland public schools. He was employed with the City of Commerce for 28 years as a meter reader until his retirement in 1986.
Mr. Alverson was a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in Battery B 152nd Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion in the United States Army. He was a longtime member of the VFW.
Mr. Alverson is survived by his wife of Cumby; a daughter, Donna Bench of Cumby; twin brother and sister-in-law Walton and Peggy Alverson of Greenville; sister and brother-in-law Modell and Travis Ramey of Greenville; sisters Opal Candler and Robbie Woodruff, both of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, I.D. Parmer and a sister, Ende Estelle Alverson.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Martinez, Ernest Holley, Valton Holley, David Holley, Buddy Ferrell, Tommy Parmer, Stanley Walls and Louis Jackson.

Vitula Chandler
COMMERCE - Vitula Thurman Chandler, 89, died Wednesday at Regent Care Center in The Woodlands following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. There was a graveside service Monday in Commerce.
She was born May 1, 1912, on Greenville to George C. and Lillian Harper Thurman. The family moved to Commerce shortly after her birth.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret C. Williamson of Williamsburg, Va. and Martha C. Martz of The Woodlands; a son, H. Harry Chandler of Anacortes, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace H. "Spike" Chandler, and an infant daughter.
Memorials may be made to the Commerce Public Library, 1210 Park Street, Commerce, TX. 75428 for the purchase of large print or audio books or to a local library.
Pemberton Funeral Home of Commerce was in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Marney-Taylor
CADDO MILLS - Gladys C. Marney-Taylor, 99, of Quinlan died Friday in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Salvation Army Chapel, Greenville, with Major Jackie Toland officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Wichita Falls.
Daughter of W.T. Blackwell and Josephine Gunsolus Blackwell, she was born Jan. 29, 1902, in Morgan Mills. She was a member of Kemp Eastern Star and the Salvation Army.
Surviving are a son, Ralph Cal Taylor; a daughter, Ouida Taylor Harrill of Quinlan; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Marney, in 1939; her second husband, Robert Floyd Taylor in 1971; sons Frank E. Marney in 1982, Paul Charles Marney in 2001 and Leo Ray Marney in 1993; a stepson, Thomas Cazrel Taylor in 1985 and grandson Seth Ray Black in 1994.
Rentfrow Funeral Home of Caddo Mills is in charge of arrangements.

Alba Moore
GRAND PRAIRIE - Alba Moore, 80, died Saturday in Arlington. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Restland Wildwood Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Ogle officiating. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park. Restland Funeral Home in Dallas is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Tussy, Okla. She was a loving wife and mother.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband of 44 years, Henry "Hank" Moore; sons, Robert Wayne Reneau and Bruce Allen Moore; daughter, Mary Dennistoun; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
An open visitation is scheduled for Monday morning before the service.
Chris Dennistoun, Ben Martin, Arik Logan, Michael Forbes, Ronnie Moore and David Moore will serve as pallbearers. Austin Reneau will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
