Kenneth M. Stewart, Lt. Col. (Retd.), 79, of Greenville, died Thursday at his residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Layman and Rev. Bobby Renfro officiating. Burial will full military honors will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 28, 1922, he was the son of Francis Gray Stewart and Luella Miller Stewart. He married Ellen Russell in Lawton Okla. on Oct. 13, 1951. He retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service and then worked for E-Systems in the accounts payable division for 20 years. He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
While in the Army, Stewart belonged to several military organizations, including the 35th Infantry Division in Germany, the 13th Army Security Field Station in England and the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
He also was the recipient of a dozen military awards, including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Russell Stewart of Greenville; son Kenneth W. Stewart and wife Margie of Caddo Mills; daughters Michelle Zboralski and husband Dan of Manitowoc, Wis. and Debbie Stewart of Arlington; sisters Mary Jane Petrash and husband Eddie of Thousands Oaks, Calif. and Beatrice Railing of Scottsburgh, Ind. and grandchildren Alina and Mallory Stewart of Caddo Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will include military. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Coleman Sunday School class.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Highland Terrace Baptist Church
Visitation is scheduled from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
Vesta Elmore
Vesta E. Elmore, 89, of Malakoff died Thursday evening at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Sexton officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born May 1, 1912, in Sulphur Springs, she was the daughter of Albert D. Lawhon and Winnie McGee Lawhon. She was married to Orland Clifton Elmore on Aug. 30, 1930, in Hunt County. She had worked as a saleslady at Howard Discount Center. Mrs. Elmore was a member of First Baptist Church of Campbell.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Billie Nadine and Jerry Tustison of Malakoff; grandchildren Jim Tustison of Chandler and Karen Lynch of Malakoff; great-granddaughter Lee Ann Tustison of Chandler and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 3, 1997, three brothers and five sisters.
Wayne Maples
COMMERCE - Joseph Wayne Maples, 84, of Commerce died Thursday in Paris. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. Melvin Ray and Rev. Joel Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Born May 18, 1917, in Wolfe City, he was the son of Thomas Lee Maples and Maude Nelson Maples. He and Melba Lynn Middlebrooks were married Dec. 28, 1941, in Rockwall. He was a lifelong resident of Hunt County and received his bachelor's degree in industrial arts from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. Mr. Maples was manager of the ARA Food Service at Texas A&M University-Commerce until his retirement. He was a chaplain at the Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville and taught Sunday school at Oak Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Maples was a deacon and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Susanne Dougherty of Sulphur Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law Rick and Sandy Maples of Mansfield and James "Mike" and Kim Maples of Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Helen Hardcastle of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 6, 1994; two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Commerce.

Rachel Terry
LEONARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Viola Terry, 93, of Leonard will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elmer Miller, Randy Rather, chaplain, and Jerry Shaffer officiating. Burial will be Leonard Cemetery.
Mrs. Terry died Friday at the Leonard Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 19, 1908, in Leonard, daughter of Michael Joseph Shaffer and Laura Etta Felmet Shaffer. She married Rainey Bailey Terry. Mrs. Terry was a homemaker and she was a Baptist.
Survivors are a daughter, Kay Neeley of Dallas; a sister, Louise Minchey of Leonard; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Von Beane
KILGORE - Funeral services for Von Rhea Beane, 85, of Kilgore, formerly of Greenville, were Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore with Rev. David Hampton officiating. He died Saturday at Good Shepard Hospital in Longview.
A native of Greenville, he was a 1934 graduate of Greenville High School and then continued a college football career at Wesley College in Greenville and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Beane received undergraduate and graduate degrees at East Texas State University and Southern Methodist University. He received an honorary doctorate from East Texas Baptist University after 24 years of active service on their board of trustees.; he also received the ETBU W.T. Tardy award for outstanding service to the school.
Mr. Beane served in the U.S. Army as a master drill sergeant.
He began his professional career as a teacher and coach and in 1949 he entered the field of educational administration. He served as a high school principal in Lampasas, Waco and Texarkana and later became superintendent of schools in Mineola and Marshall. He was appointed by the Texas Education Agency as the first executive director of the Region VII Education Service Center in Kilgore.
He was a member of numerous professional organizations including life member of Texas Congress of Parent-Teacher Association; Texas State Teachers Association, National Education Association and American Association of School Administrators. Mr. Beane was active in Boy Scout work and received the Silver Beaver and Good Shepard awards. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher and served on the board of Deacons.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Charline Hawkins Beane; three sons, Jerry Beane of Dallas, Mike Beane of Kilgore and Bobby Beane of Kilgore; a brother, Edward Beane of Greenville; sister Maurine Young of Richardson; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kilgore Building Fund or the Von Rhea Beane Scholarship at Brookhill School in Bullard.

William Roth
ROYSE CITY - William R. Roth, 76, of Royse City died Saturday in Dallas. A graveside service is scheduled today at 2 p.m. at Royse City Cemetery. Dr. Aubrey Patterson will officiate.
He was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Ohio to William F. and Ester B. Houck Roth.

Floyd Ausburn
McKINNEY - Floyd Wilson Ausburn, formerly of Celeste, died Saturday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bellew Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pecan Grove Cemetery.
He was born in Celeste Dec. 30, 1918. Mr. Ausburn was a resident of McKinney for 50 years and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He worked for the City of McKinney and retired from the Job Corps of McKinney.
Mr. Ausburn is survived by his wife, Lillie McIntyre Ausburn; daughter Carol Ausburn Grimes; a brother, Charles Ausburn of Rockwall; sisters Gladys Stapp of Leonard and Opal Latimer of Greenville; two grandchildren, Lori Joan Carico and Steven Floyd Grimes and wife Kay Geers Grimes and three great-grandchildren, Christopher Wilson Grimes, Brittany Nicole Grimes and Michael McIntyre Grimes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Gussie Ausburn and a daughter, Joan Ausburn Martin.

Rosa Caldwell
FARMERSVILLE - Rosa Maybell Caldwell, 102, of Farmersville died Tuesday at Hinton Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Farmersville with Rev. Maurice Martin and Rev. Bart Barber officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Born May 1, 1899, in Nevada, she was the daughter of Tipton and Laura Noles Denton. She and John Bryant Caldwell were married in Copeville in 1918. She was a homemaker and she was a Baptist.
Surviving are daughters Christine Stevens of Boyd and Dorothy Tate of Farmersville; sons J.T. Caldwell of Copeville, George Caldwell of Garland, Raymond Caldwell of Leonard, Bill Caldwell of Princeton and Jack Caldwell of Garland; a sister, Lela Lanier of Farmersville; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Inez Compton
McKINNEY - Inez Swafford Alvey Compton died Sunday at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bellew Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Hobson officiating. Burial will be in Pecan Grove Cemetery, McKinney.
She was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Hunt County to Robert Lloyd and Elizabeth May Swafford. She was the former owner-operator of a hair salon.
Survivors include her husband Emmett Ray Compton; children Fonda Gayle Brooks and husband Dennis of Arlington, Tony Alvey of Princeton, Russell L. Alvey and wife Victoria of Princeton; a sister, Gene Fuller of Garland; grandchildren Leigh Ann Jusits of Arlington, Laura Alvey of McKinney, Jason Alvey of Princeton and Ian Alvey of Princeton; great-grandchildren Darrell, Aaron Danielle, Jamie and Rianne and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Frank Alvey Sr.

Anna Ferguson
IRVING - Graveside services for Mrs. Anna Kelly Ferguson, 80, of Irving, formerly of Greenville, are at 3 p.m. today at the Avery Cemetery in Avery with Rev. Clay Arnold officiating.
Mrs. Ferguson died Monday morning at Ashford Hall Nursing Home in Irving.
She was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Avery to James and Olah O'Bannon Kelly. She was married to Horace Ferguson in October of 1938 in Dallas.
Mrs. Ferguson is survived by three daughters, Stella Holder of Irving, Linda Gail McCall of Irving and Mary Nell Smith of Greenville; two sisters, Mary Rogers of Avery and Cleo Fuller of Irving; two brothers, Roy Lee Kelley of Avery and Ray Dell Kelley of Freeport; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death.

Bobbie Joe Hockett
Bobbie Joe "B.J." Hockett, 70, of Greenville, died Sunday night at Baylor Health Care in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kirk Jones and Rev. Bobby Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
Son of Joe Hockett and Melba Lee Johnston Hockett, he was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Farmersville. He married Billie L. Hilliard in November 1990 in Bonham. Mr. Hockett served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Raytheon as an assembler. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bonham. Mr. Hockett was a Mason and he was president of his senior class of 1949.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; daughters Hillary Calderon of San Antonio, Gay Poole of Greenville and Heather Warden, Kelli Whitford and Cobbi Turbeville, all of Austin; an aunt, Helen Johnston of Greenville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.

James Hamilton
DALLAS - James M. Hamilton of Merit died at his home Friday. Funeral services are at 3:30 p.m. today at Restland Funeral Home-Wildwood Chapel with Chris Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
Mr. Hamilton was born Aug. 21, 1918, in New Salem. He worked in the oil fields. He was a member of Merit Baptist Church.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife Eddie Estelle Hamilton of Merit; son and daughter-in-law James L. and Noi Hamilton; brothers O.R. Hamilton and Billy Earl Hamilton; grandchildren Michelle Newman, Neil Hamilton and wife Jentre and Ramona Hamilton and great-grandchildren Jessica Newman, Jordan Newman, Katland Campbell and Chase Hamilton.
A son, Eddie Dean Hamilton, preceded him in death.
Albert Isham
Albert Dee Isham, 74, of Campbell, died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born October 21, 1926, in Hunt County, he was the son of Samuel Roy Isham and Nannie Amanda Ussery. He married Mary Frances Bryant in the Tidwell Community on March 18, 1950.
Mr. Isham was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy, and was an auto mechanic by trade. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife of Campbell; one daughter, Mary Elaine Evans of Sulphur Springs; six sons, Michael Wayne Isham, Eddy Merle Isham and Larry Jim Isham, all of Campbell, Albert David Isham of Greenville, Kenneth Mark Isham of Point, and Bryan Keith Isham of Lone Oak; three sisters, Louise Baker of Floyd, Ellen Deaton of West Texas, and Pearl Lessa of Daly City, Calif.; one brother, Jessie Isham of Floyd, 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Isham was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
James Moon
James H. Moon, 81, of Lone Oak died Friday afternoon at his residence. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rick Henslee officiating.
Born in Winder, Ga., on March 9,1919, he was the son of James Henry Moon. On June 27, 1959, he married Doris Ellen Butler in Oklahoma. Mr. Moon served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired mechanic.
Survivors include two sons, James David Moon of Nokesville, Va. and Gary Moon of Germany; a daughter, Jerry Fontana of Fife Lake, Mich.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993; his parents; two brothers and one sister.
