Elna Crowell
WOLFE CITY - Elna Wachtendorf Crowell, 83, of Port Neches, longtime resident of Wolfe City, died Monday at Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur following a lengthy illness. There will be a memorial service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday with Dr. John Grisby officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Wolfe City, daughter of Hubert and Willie Moore Henslee. She was married to Emil Wachtendorf in 1943; he preceded her in death in 1973. Later she married George Crowell who died in 1990. She was a retired hairdresser. Mrs. Crowell was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wolfe City.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Freddy and Brenda Wachtendorf of Port Neches; a granddaughter, Brandy Wachtendorf of Port Neches; a grandson, Troy Jordan of Dallas and two sisters, Wildene Rowland of Richardson and Sue Brooks of Monroe, La.
R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Johnston
EMORY - Helen Johnston, 93, of Emory died Tuesday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital . There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Emory City Cemetery with Rev. David Dillar officiating.
Daughter of W.W. and Lillian Berzett, she was born June 10, 1908, in Emory. Mrs. Johnston worked as a secretary for the government for many years. She was a Methodist. Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Emory Volunteer Fire Department, a Texas Life Member of the PTA, Senior Citizens and Pre School.
She is survived by two nephews, Bob Crouch of Houston and James Crouch of Orlando, Fla. and a stepdaughter, Jo Ann Musso of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Johnston, in 1978; two sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers will be Fred Hunter, David Traylor, Jim Felton, Ed Emig, Paul McMerrill and Randy Traylor.
Memorials may be made to the Emory Volunteer Fire Department.
Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory is in charge of arrangements.

Hubert McKinney
Hubert L. McKinney, 84, of Greenville died Monday morning at his residence. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Memoryland Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at Park Street Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Dr. Marvin Mosley will officiate.
Born in Como on June 29, 1917, he was the son of Walter Ross McKinney and Lucia Cowser McKinney. He married Mlldred Harvey on Dec. 26, 1942, in Greenville. He was a painter and retired from E-Systems. Mr. McKinney was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and the UAW.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; a daughter, Marsha McKinney of Arlington and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Tom McKinney and Raymond McKinney; a sister, Lucille McKinney Charles and infant sister Inez McKinney.
Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mable Smith
ARDMORE, Okla. - Services for former Ardmore, Okla. resident Mable Joy Smith were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith died Sept. 1 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
Daughter of Thomas Lyto Carden and Mabel Arminta Scott Carden, she was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Greenville. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore, Okla.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynda Joy Verduzco of Granbury and Kathy Ann Beckham of Austin; a sister, Jane French of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Billy James Smith on July 12, 2001; her parents and a brother, Thomas Carden.

Larry Young
EMORY - Larry Alton Young, 36, of Emory died Sunday at his home. Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home is in charge of cremation. No services are planned.
He was born April 19, 1965, at St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas, son of James Russell and Pauline Fay Coats Young. Mr. Young was an auto mechanic. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Young is survived by his mother of Emory and sisters Erma Young of Emory and Terry Lewers of Alba.

Kimberly Arredondo
MESQUITE - Kimberly Buchanan Arredondo, 42, of Mesquite, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday. Services are at 2 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Billy J. Deaton officiating. Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Arredondo; a son and fiancee, Ross van Huss and Lydia Sappington of Mesquite; her mother, Francis Deaton of Greenville; her father and stepmother, Glenn and Carol Buchanan of Greenville; six brothers, Jimmy Buchanan of Commerce, Tommy Buchanan of Plano, Billy Deaton of Irving, Jerry Deaton of Greenville, Chuck Buchanan of Fort Worth and John Deaton of Garland; two sisters, Joy Denault and Cindy Guerrero of Garland; a stepsister, Debbie Luce; her two dogs, Mr. Bo Jangles and Renegade and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Claude Deaton and her stepfather, Bill Deaton.

James Evans
COMMERCE - James "Maurice" Evans, 91, of Pecan Gap died Saturday at Heritage Place Nursing Home in Grand Prairie. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at D-FW National Cemetery with Rev. John Reynolds officiating.
He was born March 9, 1910, in Horton, Delta County, son of V.O. Evans and Ruby Glossup Evans. Mr. Evans was a private in the Army Signal Corps from September 1940 to May 1941. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Evans is survived by a daughter, Sarah LaVerl Foley of California; three brothers, Earl and Ernest Evans, both of Grand Prairie and Carl Evans of California and a sister, Allie Ramer of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by a brother, O.R. Evans, and a sister, Mildred Stoykle.

Darrell Brumley
Darrell Wayne Brumley, 59, of Greenville died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Pastor Butch Bruton officiating. Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mr. brumley was born June 21, 1942, in Gail to Rayburn Conally and Alvilda Stewart Brumley. He married Kay Carroll Lilly. He was an auto body repairman and a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Bobby Brumley of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Trey Latte of Greenville; two brothers, Mark Brumley of Lubbock and Don Brumley of New Deal; a sister, Jane Brumley of Fate and two grandchildren, Layne and Coy Latte of Greenville. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Pallbearers will be Tim Puryear, Doug Johnston, Chester Levassar, Kenneth Maroney, Jack Stewart and Mike Peoples.
Visitaion is from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Ima McKenzie
Ima Jean McKenzie, 63, of Greenville died Saturday. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rentfrow Funeral Chapel in Caddo Mills. Burial will be at Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mrs. McKenzie was born May 19, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant to Joe and Victoria Dickeson Reynolds. She was married Feb. 23, 1956, in Greenville to Daniel McKenzie. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Ray McKenzie of Rowlett and Robert McKenzie of Garland; a daughter, Vicki McKenzie of Caddo Mills; six brothers, Jerry Don Reynolds of Pittsburg, Billy Wayne, Ricky Dale, Larry Joe, J.D. and Jimmy Reynolds, all of Mt. Pleasant; five sisters, Reba Barrett and Gladys Reynolds of Mt. Pleasant, Vicki and Cathy Reynolds of Naples and Patricia Reynolds of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and a grandson.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Aubrey Norris
CADDO MILLS - Aubrey D. Norris, 84, of Greenville died Friday in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Rentfrow Funeral Chapel in Caddo Mills with Rev. Johnny Touchtone officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Caddo Mills. Pallbearers are Lanny Blackwell, Danny Payne, Shorty Woodson, Michael Woodson, Jimmy Webster and Jeremy Quinn. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Payne, Joe Carol Johnson and Buel Ray Bentle.
Born Jan. 8, 1917 in Caddo Mills, he was the son of Tom Wesley Norris and Mary Fretwell Norris. He was married to Shirley Norris on June 30, 1976 in Greenville.
Mr. Norris was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Peniel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, of Greenville; one daughter, Shirley Thompson of Caddo Mills; one sister, Juanita Farmer of Caddo Mills; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Jeanette Duncan
LADONIA - Mrs. Jeanette Duncan of Ladonia died Thursday at the Heritage Care Center in Paris. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at the First Methodist Church in Ladonia with Walter Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Ladonia Cemetery.
She was born in Mannsville, Okla., on April 15, 1915, and had lived in Ladonia since 1932. On May 5, 1932, she married Albert Duncan. Mrs. Duncan retired from Fannindel High School where she worked as a librarian aide.
Survivors are a son, Robert Duncan of Ladonia; daughter-in-law Jeanette Duncan; a daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Robert Jovner of Ladonia; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Delta Funeral Home of Ladonia is in charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 15, 1998, and by a daughter, Doris Jean Duncan.

Marvin Johnson
Marvin Ray Johnson, 56, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Sept. 1. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Lone Oak with Rev. R. Martin and R.L. Price, superintendent, officiating. Burial will be in Rabb Cemetery in Lone Oak.
Born in Lone Oak on Feb. 5, 1945, he was the son of Opal Givens and adopted parents Jimmy and Mary Johnson. He and his wife Marion Jean were married Oct. 23, 1965, in Lone Oak. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Johnson was a computer technician and he was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, Anthony Ray Johnson of Ohio; two daughters, Chrystal Jean Johnson and Marva Ann Johnson, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers Virgil Givens, M.M. Givens, Leon Givens, Larry Givens and Frank Boyd; sisters Annie Johnson, Betty Givens and Anita Givens-Shaw and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His adopted parents preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Claude Winbush, Alikey, Vince Rhinehart, Sam Harris, Nelson Turner and Larry Hubbard.
Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Crawford
GARLAND - Larry Don Crawford of Greenville died Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Big Springs Baptist Church in Garland.
He was born Nov. 26, 1949. He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Crawford graduated from South Garland High School in 1968 and served four years in the U.S. Navy with a tour in Vietnam.
Survivors include his parents, Bettye and Gene Crawford of Garland; a brother, Randy Crawford, currently of Pakistan, and sons Joshua Crawford of Magnolia, Ark. and Zachary Crawford of Garland.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Home.

George Fudgen
George W. Fudgen, 58, of Greenville died Sept. 1. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clark Street Christian Church with Rev. David Campbell and Rev. W.D. Hines officiating. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park.
Son of W.P. and Carrie Fudgen, he was born May 12, 1943, in Greenville. He was an educator/teacher. Mr. Fudgen was a member of Clark Street Christian Church. He was a member of the NAACP and the O.W. Holmes Ecology Club.
Survivors are a daughter, Adrienne Fudgen of Carrollton; brother Dr. Wendell P. Fudgen Jr. of San Lenandro, Calif.; a sister, Mary Campbell of Duncanville and one grandchild.
His parents preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Rasul, Wayne Dixon, Dr. Toomer, Bill E. Conley, Bryon A. Conley and Keith Campbell.
There will be a wake from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home.
