BONHAM - Funeral services for Chris Jones, 46, of Denton, formerly of Bonham, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church, 701 N. Main, Bonham, with Rev. Kirk M. Jones, pastor of First Baptist Church of Greenville, officiating. Burial will be in Arledge Ridge Cemetery.
He died Thursday morning at Denton Community Hospital.
Son of Jess David Jones and Janice Sue Brown Jones, he was born May 1, 1955, in Dallas. He was a 1973 graduate of Bonham High School and a 1978 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. On May 30, 1981, he married Nancilou Poole in Little Rock, Ark. Mr. Jones was a member of First Baptist Church in Mesquite.
He was a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association. Mr. Jones coached track and football for more than 23 years and coached at Monticello High School, Monticello, Ark.; Plano East Senior High School, Greenville High School, Mesquite High School, North Garland High School, Crandall High School, Howard Payne University in Brownwood and Denton High School.
Survivors include his wife of Denton; a son, Aaron Michael Jones of Denton; a daughter, Ashley Michelle Jones of Denton; his mother, Janice Smith of Bonham; his father of Bonham; maternal grandmother Vera Brown of Bonham; three brothers, Kirk Jones and wife Marilyn of Greenville, Loy Jones and wife CarrieAnn of Fort Worth and Roy Jones of Bonham; stepbrother and wife Ron and Nancy Smith of Bonham; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Allen Rich, David Trout, Steve Halpin, Robbie Robinson, Jeff Hantes, Tim Eshleman, Mickey DeLamar and Josh Cannon.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wise Funeral Home, 219 West Sam Rayburn, Bonham.
Willie Nelson
Willie Lee Nelson, 43, of Mesquite died Aug. 18 in Houston. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Price Temple Church of God in Christ with Rev. W.C. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 3, 1957, in Greenville, he was the son of Willie Ray and Charlene Nelson. On Dec. 21, 1977, he married Betty Derrick in Rockwall County. Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Army. He worked in construction. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Mesquite; his father of Greenville; a son, Keithion Derrick of Dallas; one daughter, Kimberlee D. Nelson of Mesquite; six brothers, Johnny Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Charles Nelson and Edward Nelson, all of Greenville, Donald Nelson of Wolfe City and Joseph Nelson of Terrell; three sisters, Gloria Riley, Barbara Nelson and Felicia Wallick, all of Greenville and seven grandchildren.
His mother, grandparents and a brother preceded him in death.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

William Lee
DALLAS - William Albert "Pete" Lee Jr. died Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Hill Mausoleum Chapel with Sam Franklin, deacon, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Hill Mausoleum.
Son of Lee Sr. and Matilda Lee, he was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Josephine. He was raised in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. He moved to Dallas and married Marian Jean Dooley at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on April 10, 1937. He worked for Titche-Goettinger of Dallas for 44 years, retiring as executive vice-president of comptroller. Following his retirement, he worked for Sanger Harris for several years before retiring a second time. Mr. Lee was a member of Christ the King Church for more than 60 years.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Leslie Lee of Mexia and Lynn P. Lee of Tyler; a daughter, Lana Lee Mann of Dallas and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas.
David Rush
WOLFE CITY - David Ervin Rush, 92, of Wolfe City died Wednesday at Smith Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Larry M. May of Mesquite officiating. Burial will be in Camp Ground in Poetry.
Mr. Rush was born Nov. 6, 1908, in Arkansas, son of James R. Rush and Lydia Ann Wilson Rush. He married Katie Belle Bennett in Kaufman on Jan. 20, 1928. He was a retired ward attendant for a nursing service. He was a member of the Baptist church at South Sulphur.
Mr. Rush is survived by three daughters, Avis Williams of Dallas, Louise Rush of Cedar Hill and Pat Matthews of Flower Mound; former wife and friend Anna Rush of Gorman; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and three sons.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Opal Shaw
COMMERCE - Opal Hida Shaw, 91, of Commerce died Wednesday at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike House officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.
Daughter of Andrew Quate and Joyce Young Quate, she was born Jan. 19, 1910, in Pecan Gap, Delta County. She was married to Lee David Shaw on Jan. 26, 1929, in Cooper. Mrs. Shaw was a homemaker.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth Shaw of Commerce, Curtis and Wendel Shaw of Dallas and Benny Shaw of Arlington; a brother, Jess Quate of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Vern Baker of Clyde and Arbena Weakley of Dallas; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jerry Shaw; daughter Shirley Bankhead and granddaughter Marisa Bankhead.
Grandsons Kenny Shaw, Robert Shaw, Greg Shaw, Bradley Bankhead, Philip Bankhead and Chris Shaw will serve as pallbearers.

Iva Simmons
Iva Mae Denman Simmons, 75, of Dallas, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday evening at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Byrd and Rev. Allan Connor officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 5, 1925, in Covington, Okla., daughter of Roy Houston Guthrie and Christina Osban Guthrie. She was married to Verner L. Denman II in 1944 in Corpus Christi; he preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Elmer Simmons. Mrs. Simmons was a retired document clerk with E-Systems and she was a member of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Elmer Simmons of Dallas; sons and daughters-in-law Verner L. and Kay Denman III of Greenville and Jack and Connie Simmons of Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and David Earls of Commerce, Jean and Fred Talley of Dallas, Kay and Jim Hamrick of Dallas and Patti Jo and Allan Connor of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters and brothers-in-law Vera Milstead of Killeen, Bonnie and Byron Varner of The Woodlands and Christine and Bill Pool of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and her first husband.
Pallbearers will be James Handley, Dr. Fagg C. Sanford III, Daryl Marks, Jim Hamrick, Jack Simmons and Fred Talley.

Gary Taylor
Gary J. Taylor, 33, of Greenville died Friday. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Roy L. Price officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fort Worth.
Born in Fort Worth, he was the son of Mason Taylor Jr. and Cleesta Williams. He worked as a laborer and was a member of Price Temple Church of God in Christ.
Surviving are his mother of Greenville; his father of Fort Worth; stepfather John Williams, stepmother Beverly Taylor; grandmotehrs Anna Bell Taylor of Fort Worth and Lucy Williams of Greenville; three brothers, Mason "Nick" Taylor III of Greenville, Rodrick Lofton and Carlos Bratton of Fort Worth; sisters Kimberly Lofton, Monica Bratton, Pamela Taylor of Fort Worth, Romunda Williams, Tomunda Benford and Elunda Dixon of Greenville; three daughters, Brittneye Pitts, Kaszia Taylor and Demetria Taylor, all of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, two uncles and a great-grandmother.
Pallbearers will be Chad Pitts, Billy Kendrick, William Ashford, David Williams, Charles Ashford Jr., Willie Durham, Charlie Robinson and Ryan Rhoden.

Hubert Brigham
NEYLANDVILLE - Hubert W. Brigham, 86, of Neylandville died Friday at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. R.L. Richardson officiating. Burial will be at Grundy Memorial.
Mr. Brigham was born on March 26, 1915, in Neylandville to Bertie and Callas Brigham. He married Mary Jane on August 26, 1941. He was in the Army and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; a nephew, Hubert Morris Taylor of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Fayrene Gipson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Florence (Loatha) Taylor of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandchild and two nieces. He is preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Grundy Funeral Home is in charge.
Irene Dowler
LADONIA - Irene Rose Dowler, 76, of Ladonia died at her home. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ladonia with Roy Yates officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Ladonia.
Mrs. Dowler was born in Clarksville to Claud Rosie and Lorene McShaw. She married Willie Dowler in Roswell, N.M.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Ceaser of Ladonia and Roy Ceaser of Natchiteches, La.; one daughter, Glinda Ceaser of Ladonia; two sisters, Juanita Williams of New Mexico and Inez Edwards of Ladonia; a host of grandchildren.

Lorene Fenter
POINT - Funeral services for Lorene Fenter, 87, of Point are at 2 p.m. today at Woosley Baptist Church in Rains County with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Long Cemetery.
Mrs. Fenter died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
She was born May 20, 1914, in Hopkins County to Riley and Flora McQueen Bibby. She was married to Irwin F. Fenter in Rains County on Oct. 20, 1985. Mrs. Fenter was a homemaker and she was a member of Woosley Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband; sons E. H. Glasscock of Royse City, Tommy Fenter of Tyler and Martin Fenter of Marietta; three sisters, Dorothy Fox of Bonham, Arleta Ellis of Greenville and Christeen Hamilton of Dallas; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Bibby and Houston Bibby and two sisters, Aldene Lloyd and Irene Helton.
John Peoples, Errin Farley, John Fenner, Jackie Oler, Billy Trimble, Buster Rivers, Jerry Bibby and David Lloyd will serve as pallbearers.

Lucille Foster
Lucille Foster, 94, of Greenville died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ester Faye Lawson officiating. Burial will be in East Mount Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 21, 1906, in Sherman to Ed and Henrietta Blandon. She was a retired beautician and she was a member of Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Paula Carter, Sharon Ervin and David Reed, all of Greenville and Lowell Reed of Plano; six great-grandchildren and two nephews, Hobert Foster and Flord Foster, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and a sister.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Theedora Lee
Theedora Lee, 85, of Greenville died Friday at her home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Woodson officiating. Burial will be in East Mount Cemetery.
Born in Linden on Dec. 1, 1915, she was the daughter of Zecheriah and Hattie L. Tamplin Stanley. She was a housewife. Mrs. Lee was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lee is survived by a son, Overlin Mack of Richmond, Calif.; a sister, Sopora Stanley of Linden; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and two sisters.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Hubert Shields
Hubert Leon "Tubby" Shields of Euless died Sunday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Celeste with Rev. Marshal Engle Middleton and Rev. Ed Lee officiating. Burial will be in Hogeye Cemetery.
Born June 6, 1915, in White Rock, he was the son of G.B. and Edna Furlong Shields. Mr. Shields taught for 40 years, 32 of which were spent teaching agriculture at Celeste High School until his retirement in 1976, when he received a lifetime membership in the PTA. His previous teaching career was at Hogeye, Savage and Emory. Mr. Shields served on the board of the Hunt-Collin Electric Co-Op, was president of the Hunt County unit of the Texas State Teachers Association and was an active member of the Lions Club. He had a cattle ranch in Kingston.
Mr. Shields was a member of First United Methodist Church of Celeste.
Surviving are a daughter, Joan Shields Daniels of Celeste; son and daughter-in-law Ronald E. and Carla Shields of Euless; grandchildren Cindy Blackburn of Knoxville, Tenn., Lorri Shields Quinn of Highlands, N.C., Keith Daniels of Celeste and Suzanne Shields of Euless; great-grandchildren Waylon Daniels, Scherie and Ashley Dodd, Ryan and Meredith Blackburn, Matthew Shields and a sister, Ruth Shields Beard of Garland.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Tommie Jo Ewing Shields, and three brothers.

Perry Smith
Perry Tom Smith, 53, of Greenville died Friday at his home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Fort Worth to Jack and Nell Hudnall Smith. He was Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by an aunt, Anna Pearl Wilson; cousins, Chet and Kathy Wilson, Barbara and Bill Burchett and a number of other cousins and caregivers Michael Cole and Desi Smallwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Jerry Joe Smith.
