ATOKA, Okla. - John Randell Templeton OF Leflore, Okla. died Wednesday. Funeral services were a 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Fred Wells officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Armstrong, Okla.
He was born in DeQueen, Ark., on April 14, 1950, to John Carter Templeton and Ola Ruth Tarno Templeton. Mr. Templeton served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.
Surviving are his mother of Denison; a daughter, Tina Michelle Templeton of Oklahoma; sisters Pat Streetman of Greenville and Glenda Ruth Brown of Atoka, Okla.; brothers Michael Wayne Templeton of Denison and Kendall Bradley of Sherman and one grandson.
His father preceded him in death.
Geraldine Edge
QUINLAN - Geraldine Francis Hobson Edge, 74, of West Tawakoni died Friday in Mesquite. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Quinlan Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Burris officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 21, 1926, to Preston Jack Hobson and Ethel Lee Pitts. On July 8, 1963, she married J.D. Edge in Houston.
Mrs. Edge managed commercial properties. She was a member of Am-Vets, the VFW, Am-Vets Ladies Auxiliary, Tawakoni Civic Club, Tawakoni Library and the Tawakoni Chamber of Commerce. She was Methodist.
She is survived by her mother, Ethel Lee Hobson, of Dierks, Ark.; son, Richard Cross of Forney; sister, Ellavee Swift of Texarkana, Texas; grandchildren, Richard Cross of Forney and Sherri McCall of Emory; great-grandchildren, Jake Cavla, Brooke, Jena and Judd. Mrs. Edge was preceded in death by her husband and her father.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

FARMERSVILLE - Cora Lillie Jones, 61, of Quinlan died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hurst's Fielder-Baker Chapel in Farmersville with James West officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville.
She was born March 5, 1940, in Farmersville to James E. and Willie Faye Allsbrooks Prather. She married Harlon Lee Jones of Quinlan and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband; daughters, Debra Gatlin of Crandall, Colleen Rickard of Mesquite, Donna Maben of Sarasota, Fla., Lisa West of Princeton, Jennifer Sun of Garland and Joy Polnac of Watuaga; son, Harlon D. Jones of Nevada; sisters, Sarah Fields of McKinney, Martha Hall of Blue Ridge and Betty Hall of Mesquite; brothers, Ronnie Prather of McKinney; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Marjorie Patterson
Marjorie Lee "Bobbie" Patterson, 77, of Greenville died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Coker-Mathews Chapel with the Rev. Dan Williford officiating. Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Merrick Community to Charlie Jacobs and Willie Sammons. She married Jerral Patterson on Aug. 22, 1942, in San Diego.
Mrs. Patterson was a beautician who owned and operated Bobbie's Beauty Shops in Emory and Point. She also co-owned Patterson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Mineral Heights Baptist Church and the Altrusa Club.
She is survived by her son, Randy Patterson and his wife, Tammy, of Emory; daughter, Sandra Allen and her husband, Gary, of Greenville; grandchildren, Angie and Tim Moore of Blue Ridge, Rod and Melinda Allen of Greenville, Amy and Jay Manning of Lone Oak, Kim and Jeremy Jackson of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Stephanie and Shane Samples of Wolfe City; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters, Jessie Feagin, Hazel Moser, Faye Williams and Ruby Nalls.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rod Allen, Tim Moore, Jay Manning, Bart Nalls, Don Carter and Harold Williams will serve as pallbearers.
Carol Shipman
Carol "Corky" Marie Shipman, 73, of Greenville died Thursday at her home following a short battle with cancer. No services are planned.
Born Jan. 24, 1928, in Buffalo, Kan., she was the daughter of Charles and Una Thomas. She was married to Hershel R. Shipman on March 29, 1958, in North Hollywood, Calif. Mrs. Shipman had lived in Greenville for seven years and had worked as a sales clerk at an office supply store. She was a member of the Newcomers Club.
Mrs. Shipman is survived by her husband of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Lance A. and Karen Shipman of Redlands, Calif.; two grandsons, Lawrence A. and Hershel H. Shipman of Redlands, Calif.; four sisters; two brothers and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Addie Hawkins
Addie Lura Hawkins, 89, of Lamesa, formerly of Greenville, died Thursday afternoon at Lamesa Health Care Center. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Henslee officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born Feb. 17, 1912, in Smithfield, she was the daughter of Thomas M. Barton and Mary Ann Dowd Barton. She was married to Dorce O. "D.O." Hawkins on Oct. 30, 1912, in Haskell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by a brother, T.W. Barton of Rochester; two sisters, Edith Greer of Lamesa and Lorene Vance of Shallowater and several nieces and nephews.
Inez Craig
DALLAS - Inez Elizabeth Speck Craig, 81, of Quinlan died Thursday. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Restland of Dallas-Greenville at Restland Road.
She was born Dec. 10, 1919.
Surviving are her husband, Bob Craig; daughters Flo Brannan of Quinlan, Yvonne Bishop of Burleson and Jerri Lewis of Kaufman; a son, Eugene Letson of Seagoville; a sister, Carnell White of Jasper, Ala; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Martha Newland
GARLAND - Martha Newland, 75, died Wednesday. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Orchard Hills Baptist Church in Garland with Jay Kennedy and Ronnie Schrick officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
She was born May 24, 1926, daughter of C.J. and Dona L. Daugherty Jackson. She retired from Rockwell International and she was a member of Orchard Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Alice Newland; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Larry Brothers; brothers Bill Jackson, Bobby Jackson and Johnny Jackson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Edward Sponberg
Edward Titus Sponberg Jr., 78, of Greenville died Thursday at his residence. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Houston.
He was born to Hattie and Edward Titus Sponberg Sr. on July 12, 1923, in Austin. Mr. Sponberg graduated from the University of Texas in Austin; he was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the infantry during World War II.
Mr. Sponberg worked in the oil industry for 30 years before starting his own business in the oil industry in the Houston area. He was a member of Unity Church of Houston. After his retirement he moved to Sedona, Ariz., then to Greenville lin 1994.
Mr. Sponberg is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sponberg of Greenville; two sons, Edward T. Sponberg III of Houston and Mark A. Sponberg of Conroe; two sisters, Valene Slaid and Doris Ellis, both of Houston and two grandchildren.
His parents and one brother, Wilber Sponberg, preceded him in death.

LEONARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Thomas, 95, of Leonard will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Leonard with Rev. Elmer Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery near Edhube. Mrs. Thomas died Thursday in the Leonard Nursing Home.
Daughter of William Walter Tarpley and Nellie Biggers Tarpley, she was born June 2, 1906 in Edhube. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Leonard.
Survivors include a daughter, Nell Tanner of Port Arthur; a son, Billie Joe Thomas of Fort Worth; sisters Ruth Apple of Dallas, Nora Mae Jones of Bonham and Ruby Nell Wilson of Randolph; brothers Carroll Tarpley of Richardson and Wendell Tarpley of Austin; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Frank Bass
MIDLAND - Frank R. Bass of Midland died at his home Monday night. Services were at 4 p.m. Thursday at Fist Presbyterian Church of Midland. Burial is at 4 p.m. today in Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Worth.
He is survived by his wife Lynn of Midland; a daughter, Rebecca and husband Paul of Houston; son Randy Bass of Dallas and an aunt, Marie Bass Bentley of Caddo Mills and one grandson, Travis.
Hazel Denton
Hazel L. Denton, 88, of Greenville died Tuesday afternoon at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Tarrant officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born July 1, 1913, in Hopkins County, she was the daughter of Quinton Young and Jessie Evans Young. She was married to Leonard Denton on Oct. 13, 1934, in Campbell. Mrs. Denton was a seamstress, retiring from Henson Kickernick. She was a member of Dixon Baptist Church and was a deacon's wife and a children's Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Rita Denton of Lone Oak; daughter and son-in-law Sarah and David Flinn of Fredericksburg, Va.; a sister, Mildred Norton of Greenville; grandchildren and spouses Jerry Jr. and Toni Denton of Lone Oak, Sherri and Dave Eaves of Greenville, Diane and Bob Rivera of Virginia; Davetta and Bill Rinehart of Virginia and Dana and Scott Gromen of California; and great-grandchildren Chris and Patrick Rivera, Benjamin, Taylor and Andrea Rinehart, Emily and Dalton Eaves, Trevor and Devin Gromen and Maci, Josh and Jordan Denton.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two infant grandchildren, Cathy and David Brian Flinn.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Denton Jr., Josh Denton, Dave Eaves, Larry Norton, Skeet Norton, Bobby Fannin and Dean Fannin.

QUINLAN - Charles Wilder Gilliland of West Tawakoni died Tuesday in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Quinlan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Minx officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Park.
Son of John Henry and Mary Wilder Gilliland, he was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Russelville, Ark. He married Mary Jo Offutt on Dec. 1, 1956, in Dallas. Mr. Gilliland was a Baptist and he was a Teamsters member.
Mr. Gilliland is survived by a son, Charles Michael Gilliland of Irving; two daughters, Kim Charisse Chitty of Canton and Debra Ann Sawyers of Farmersville; sister Jean Sallas of South Carolina and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Miller, Michael Gilliland, Christopher Gilliland, Joshua Chitty, Nathaniel Sawyers and James Chapman. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Joseph, Pat Horne, Frank Schrimpshire and teamster brothers.

VAN - Edna Clifford Overby, 92, of Whitehouse died Wednesday in a Whitehouse nursing home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memoryland Memorial Cemetery in Greenville.
She was born Aug. 5, 1909, in Hunt County. She moved to Whitehouse from Canton in 1989. Mrs. Overby was a Baptist and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Norman D. Overby of Tyler; two daughters, Virginia Anne Erwin and Joy Drummond of San Antonio; four brothers, Aubrey Stephens, Raymond Stephens and J.D. Stephens of Greenville and Edward Stephens of Farmington, N.M.; two sisters, Adele Lyan of Greenville and Marcele Hise of Prattville, Ala.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Durwood Overby in 1959 and two sisters, Elon Stephens and Dorothy Stephens.
