LAWTON, Okla. - Daniel "Dan" David Ellis, 21, of Oklahoma City died July 29 in Midwest City. Services were Aug. 2 at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home in Lawton, Okla. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Okla.
He was born Sept. 24, 1979, in Honolulu to David Dale and Jane Ellen Ellis. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Commerce.
He is survived by his father, Col. David Dale of Honolulu; stepmother, Judy Kay Ellis of Honolulu; his mother, Jane Ellen Ellis of Lawton, Okla.; sisters, Emily Jane Ellis of Fayetteville, N.C., and Laura Elizabeth Ellis of Honolulu. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, B. Dale Ellis and John Winfred Roberts.
Mark Fenter
EMORY - Mark Fenter, 30, of Point died Friday in Quitman. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Emory with David Baker officiating. Burial will be at Lone Star Cemetery in Point. He was born Nov. 11, 1970, in Greenville to Ronnie Fenter and Nancy Wade Fenter. Mr. Fenter was employed by Raytheon in Greenville. He was a member of the Emory Church of Christ and the Sheriff's Association of Texas.
,He is survived by his mother, Nancy Wade Fenter of Emory; sisters, Connie Mills of Emory and Amy Wallace of Emory; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wade of Emory; and grandmother, Ola V. Fenter of Emory. Mr. Fenter was preceded in death by his grandfather, Averal Fenter.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Woodrow Merrell
CELESTE - Woodrow Wilson Merrell, 84, of Gober died Saturday at Sam Rayburn Memorial Center in Bonham. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Celeste Cemetery with Charles Wrenn officiating. Burial will be at Celeste Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Celeste to William Henry Merrell and Martha Mae Rogers Merrell. He married Velma Mays on Dec. 10, 1955, in Weatherford. Mr. Merrell was a farmer and a veteran.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Hazel Nance of Decatur; sisters, Malie Key of Mustang, Okla., and Sue Grisham of Savoy; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Clifford Ray
EMORY - Clifford C. Ray, 97, of Emory died Friday. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Saturday at Memoryland Memorial Park with the Rev. Clay Arnold officiating.
He was born Feb. 12, 1904, in Decatur, Ill,. He retired in 1967 from Union Terminal Railroad in Dallas.
,Mr. Ray is survived by three sons, Carl Ray and his wife, Patti, of Greenville, Charles Ray and his wife, Jolyn, of Leesburg and Bruce Ray and his wife Terry, of San Antonio; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Charlton Thomas
SULPHUR SPRINGS - Charlton E. Thomas, 61, of Flower Mound died Friday at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Davis officiating. Burial will be at Long Cemetery near Cumby.
He was born March 21, 1940, in Hunt County to W.B. and Hattie Lee Hannah Thomas. Mr. Thomas graduated from Wolfe City High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Denton County resident for 20 years. Mr. Thomas worked in computer sales.
He is survived by his son, Maury Thomas of Fort Worth; daughter, Melissa Lory of Frisco; brothers, Sam Thomas of Sulphur Springs, J.E. Thomas of Commerce; Herbert Dale Thomas of Mesquite; W.B. Thomas of Poteau, Okla.; sister, Mary Elizabeth Fraga of Dallas; and four grandchildren.

ALBA - Marie Hass, 81, of Alba died Saturday at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Parker and Earl Kernes officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrim Rest No. 1 Cemetery in Emory.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Wood County to O.L. and Bessie Thedford Harvey. She married Thomas Jefferson Hass. Mrs. Hass was a lifelong Alba resident. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by her son, T.J. Hass of Shelbyville; daughter, Betty Lyles of Alba; sister, Willie Mae Hass of Dallas; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hass was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Leon Harvey and Junior Harvey; sisters, Tina Sherwood and Peggy Brummett; and granddaughter, Laura Hall.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ron B. Day, 55, of Wills Point died Thursday in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Ratliff officiating.
Son of Charles Lee Day and Flora Mae Parish Day, he was born July 1, 1946, in Fairview, Okla. On Sep. 2, 1988, he married June Chenoweth in Terrell. He worked for Raytheon as a machinist.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife of Wills Point; daughters Shelia Day of Oklahoma City, Okla., Millie and husband Richard Usser of Yukon, Okla. and Tracie Longman of Norman, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Kyra Dixon of Mesquite; three brothers, Charles Day and George McNitt of Liberal, Kan. and Johnny Day of Odessa; sisters Linda Reinhart of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Ida Rowe of Bethany, Okla.; brother-in-law Loren Chenoweth of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister-in-law Sue Pope of Norman, Okla. and grandchildren Kendra Longman, Ashley Longman, Devin Usher, Justin Day, Taner Day and Cody Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Hughan and a brother, Theo Day.
Billie Steele
LEONARD - Funeral services for Billie J. Steele, 80, of Valley Creek will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Valley Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Ingold, Rev. James Henry and Todd Higgs officiating. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery.
Mr. Steele died Wednesday at his residence.
Born April 27, 1921, in Leonard, he was the son of W.A. Steele and Susan Grace Tucker Steele. He married Opal Taylor on April 26, 1939, in Leonard. Mr. Steele was retired from Stratoflex and he was a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Valley Creek; two daughters, Janice Higgs of Fort Worth and Patricia Lehrer of Spokane, Wash.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Martha Coker
Martha Meeks Wicker Coker, 85, of Houston died Tuesday at West Houston Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home of Greenville with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born in Murray, Ken., on March 6, 1916, she was the daughter of Cary Wicker and Lillie E. Meeks Wicker. She was married to L.O. "Jim" Coker on Nov. 9, 1939, in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker, seamstress, cook and caregiver. Mrs. Coker was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the A.L.R. Sunday school class in Greenville.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Jimmye Sue and Russell Clem of Houston and Karen Hunt of Houston; grandson Grady Hunt of Houston; granddaughter and husband Carrie Clem and Stephen Martin of Houston; great-granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Martin of Houston; sisters-in-law, Alyne Landrum Coker and Margaret Coker Loving, both of Greenville and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; a sister, Mary E. Philpot and brother Cary Wicker.
Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund.

EMORY - C.E. Collins, 83, of Winnsboro died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Clifton Cemetery in Emory with Daryle Hester officiating.
Son of Cleve C. and Lizzie Anderson Collins, he was born Sep. 7, 1917, in Ellison, Tenn. On Aug, 7, 1940, he married Helen Ely in Rains County. Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Bell Helicopter. He was a Mason.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife of Winnsboro; a son, Gene Collins of Fort Worth; brothers Earl Collins of Charleston, S.C. and Clifford Collins of Point; sisters Imogene Owen of Fort Worth, Wanda Crump of Emory and Peggy Jones of Chilicothe, Ill.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bill Bates of Arkansas will be honorary pallbearer.

Jessie A. Ramsey
DALLAS - Jessie A. "Jack" Ramsey, 84, died Tuesday at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at The First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills with Rev. Roger Ratliff and Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Memorial Park, Route 2, Dallas at 1 p.m.
He was born in Tuscaloosa County, Ala. on Oct. 7, 1916, son of James Early Ramsey and Susan Roberts Baggett Ramsey. On March 18, 1937, he married Myral Louise Sudduth. He served in the U.S. Army, First Calvary, during World War II; this was the Last Horse Calvary. Mr. Ramsey served in India, Burma and China for the Chinese Defensive and was awarded several medals including The Asia Pacific Theater Operation Medal.
Mr. Ramsey was a glazier and retired in 1981 from Oak Cliff Mirror and Glass. He was a member of the Painters and Glaziers Local Union 53 for more than 30 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills. He was a deacon for 50 years, first at Circlewood Baptist in Tuscaloosa, Ala., then Colonial Baptist in Dallas and First Baptist in Caddo Mills.
Survivors include a son, Byron Boyd Ramsey and wife Becky of Rowlett; daughter Alma "Tina" Allen and husband Henry of Caddo Mills; four grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Faith Rushing and Doris May of Northport, Ala.; and a brother, Dr. Charles Ramsey of New Orleans, La.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years in August 1999; his parents and a brother, Edwin Murrell Ramsey, Tallahassee, Fla.

Floyd Scroggins
Floyd Leon Scroggins, 84, of Greenville, died Tuesday night at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Funeral services are at 4 p.m today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Wieland Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 10, 1917, in Rains County, son of Tom Scroggins and Emma Lynch Scroggins. He married Glenna Mozell Carter on Dec. 23, 1939, in Greenville. Mr. Scroggins was a mechanic. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Scroggins is survived by his wife of Greenville; two sons, Billy W. Scroggins of Cumby and Duwain Scroggins of Fort Worth; daughter, Rhonda Scroggins of Boyd and foster daughter Debbie Clark of Greenville; two sisters, Betty Foster of Quinlan and Ravenna Bowers of Hughes Springs; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Scroggins and two sisters, Alene Flores and Oleta Roddy.
Pallbearers will be Bill Scroggins, Duwain Scroggins, Chris Castor, Tommy Bell, Wade Scroggins and Brian Jones.
Maggie Sellers
QUINLAN - Maggie Sellers of Quinlan died Tuesday in Greenville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Quinlan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born March 22, 1924, in Conway, Ark. She was a homemaker and she was a Baptist.
Surviving are a son, George E. Sellers of Wolfe City; a daughter, Georgia M. Bowen of Quinlan; two sisters, Mamie Rickett and Mable Robertson; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George H. Sellers and two sons, Vaughn Sellers and Guy E. Sellers.

Floyd Daniels Sr.
Floyd H. Daniels Sr. of Austin, died Monday at the V.A. Hospital in Temple. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Clark Street Christian Church in Greenville with Rev. Floyd Daniels III officiating. Burial will be in Center Point Cemetery.
Son of Charlie and Mollie Daniels, he was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Midway. Mr. Daniels served in the U.S. Navy. He was a school teacher and educator for 42 years. He was a member of Clark Street Christian Church.
Mr. Daniels is survived by sons Floyd Daniels Jr. of Dallas, Robert Daniels of Austin and Jason Daniels of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters Carolyn Duffie of Garland, Rita D. Madkins of Garland and Wendy Richardson; a brother, Gerald Daniels of Houston and one sister, Ella Polk of Dallas.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Madkins, Cameron Madkins, Robert Daniels II, Doby Daniels, Marcarlas Daniels, Marcus Daniels and Elbert Madkins II.

U.S. Stephens, 83, of Farmersville, died Thursday. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Galloway Memorial Church of God in Christ in Farmersville with Rev. Willis officiating. Burial will be in Houston Cemetery, Farmersville.
Son of Grant and Lela Stephens, he was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Dalby Spring.
Survivors include a son, James Smith of Terrell; three daughters, Frances Taylor of Shallowater, Mary Stephens of Farmersville and Jeanette Washington of Dallas; sister Rosie Lee Stephens of Farmersville and many grandchildren.
