PINK HILL - Services for Andrew Alfred Korioth, 67, of Pink Hill, are at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. He died Friday at his residence.
A mechanical and industrial engineer by profession and a rancher-farmer by avocation, he had spent most of his life in Grayson County.
Born in Paris, Texas, on Dec. 29, 1929, he was the son of Andrew and Elenora Korioth. He attended St. Joseph's Academy in Sherman, Sherman High School and graduated Texas A&M University with a degree in mechanical and industrial engineering. Commissioned into the U.S. Army Ordnance as a Second Lieutenant, he graduated from Werner von Braun's Missile School at Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.
He was transferred from Red Stone as an Ordnance Liaison Officer to the Army Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth, N.J., where he also worked as a director of the Missile School as a First Lieutenant. After his three years of service during the Korean War, he returned with his family to live and work in Sherman.
Korioth worked in his engineering business in the same location as his father's and grandfather's machine shop for over 30 years. After the death of his father, he became a project engineer for ICI Americas and retired in 1995 after eight years as a senior engineer for ICI in North America. For the past three years he had done consulting engineering for many North American companies.
Korioth was married to Doris Coffey of Sherman in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman on April 11, 1953 by Monsignor McCullough in the first mixed Catholic-Protestant marriage performed in St. Mary's Catholic Church by a Dispensation granted to the couple by Pope Pius XII.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, and their children Andrew Korioth of Sherman, Ellen Miles of Sherman, Sue Korioth and husband Randall Riecke of Dallas and Jim Korioth and his wife Jean of Austin. Also, five grandchildren; Matthew and Sarah Miles of Sherman, Thomas and Jenny Riecke of Dallas and Elsa Rose Korioth of Austin. He is also survived b y his aunt, Mrs. C. C. Cook of Sherman and a cousin, Tony Korioth of Austin.
Pallbearers will be William Davis, Boyd Covey, Matthew Miles, Ted Coffey, John Coffey and Randall Riecke.
Visitation will be at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday.
William Corley
MALAKOFF - William L. Corley, 77, of Star Harbor died Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Malakoff with Rev. Casey Perry officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Brigham Cemetery in Camel.
He was born Aug. 28, 1920 in Hall Summit, La., to William Lyn and Margaret Breedlove Corley. Mr. Corley was a veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Malakoff.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Corley, of Star Harbor; children Michael Corley of Greenville, Robert Corley of Corsicana and Susan Brown of Sherman; two sisters, Ruth Morgan of Vivian, La. and Gladys Alexander of Rodessa, La. and eight grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alice Procter
DALLAS - Alice Louise (Bunny) Johnson Procter of Dallas died Sunday. Services are at Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City at 2 p.m. today. Family and friends will meet at Webb Hill Country Club in Wolfe City after the service.
She was born April 8, 1933. She worked in the apparel industry before joining the MBNA America Bank organization where she worked in community relations.
Surviving are her mother, Martha Johnson McAlexander; a brother, R.E.L. Johnson Jr.; two sons, Rick Marek and Marc Procter; two daughters, Martha Beresford and Mindy Cranston; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert Slemmons
Robert Ross "Bobby" Slemmons of Cumby died at his residence Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Nance officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Son of E.J. Slemmons and Wilma Mae Ross, he was born in Lone Oak on July 3, 1933. He married Mildred Slemmons on Jan. 1, 1985 in Greenville. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Mr. Slemmons was manager of production services at E-Systems. He was a Baptist and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Greenville.
He is survived by his wife Mildred of Cumby; his mother, Wilma Martin of Greenville; a son, Robert Keith Slemmons of Royse City; two daughters, Connie Slemmons of Sugarland and Lei Ann Starling of Asheville, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Robin Gunter of Greenville and Elizabeth Ann Walden of Sulphur Springs; a brother, E.J. Slemmons of Greenville; a sister, Jean Ann Turner of McKinney and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Slemmons in 1984; his father; and his stepfather, D.R. Martin.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
E.C. Buford
EMORY - E.C. Buford, 73, of Alba, died Sunday at his home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory with Rev. Albert Clark officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Alba.
Son of Bert and Lois Weatherby Buford, he was born in Hopkins County on Jan. 10, 1924. He and Reba F. Keen Buford were married in Rains County on Sept. 29, 1949. Mr. Buford served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God.
Surviving are his wife of Alba; three sons, Kenneth Buford of McAllen, Bobby Buford of Sulphur Springs and Roger Bryant of Emory; a daughter, Ava Gaby of Alba; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Maurice Bryant, Boyd Parmer, Ken Brown, Harl D. Hass, Michael Newland and Bobby Ivie. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bill McGahee and James Latham.
James Marzilli
QUINLAN - James "Lucky" Campbell Marzilli, 45, of Lone Oak died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Quinlan.
He was born in Dallas on Dec. 8, 1952 to William and Mary Newby Cambell Sr. He married Lorraine Marzilli. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Marzilli worked as chef at Willie's Restaurant in Quinlan.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jaymie Campbell of Farmers Branch; two brothers, Bill Campbell of Virginia and Harold Blackman of DeSoto and a sister, Loucretia Needles of Hot Springs Village, Ark.
Ples Brown
Ples S. Brown, 87, of Greenville died at Presbyterian Hospital Greenville Friday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Dr. David Stubblefield officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mr. Brown was born on July 28, 1910, in Mount Vernon; the son of T.B. and Tennie Clepper Brown. He married Cleo Ezell on June 1, 1932 in Texarkana, Ark. He was a retired inspector with the Texas Department of Transportation, a former member of the Army Corps of Engineers, member of the Golden K and Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Darla Brown of Greenville; one sister, Lenora Gaddis, of College Station; three grandchildren Corey Brown of North Richland Hill, Jay Nation, of Greenville and Leigh Thomas of Oakland, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gloria Brown Nation in1977; brothers Floyd Brown, Robert Brown and Morris Brown.
Pallbearers will be Billy Craig, Bill Harvey, Durwood Nalls, Henry Black, Jerald Tredway, Terry Petty. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Carter, Jack Turner, Bill Thompson, Jack Mason, Joe Cullen, Kenneth Klutz, G.L. Hall, Glen Fry, Luth DeBerry, Joe McDowel, Jimmy Ayers and Felix Frazier.

Lois Butler
WOLFE CITY - Lois C. Butler, 84, of Wolfe City died Saturday at Smith Nursing Home in Wolfe City. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. today at Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Gardner officiating. Burial is in Gober Cemetery.
Mr. Butler was born March 22, 1913 in Hunt County; the son of William and Savana Wagner Butler.
He was a retired farmer and veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert and Jack Butler of Wolfe City; one sister, Ima Mae Lansford of McKinney.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Vertie King
MCKINNEY - Vertie Evans King, 96, of McKinney died Saturday at McKinney Health Care. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Danny Buster officiating. Burial is in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Mrs. King was born May 28, 1901, in Hunt County, the daughter of Thomas and Lottie Ophelia Hitten Stevens. She married Robert Lee Evans in 1915 in Nevada.
She was a homemaker and was employed as a candy wrapper at Harben Candy Factory in Farmersville and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmersville.
Surviving are one son, Robert Lee Evans Jr. of Greenville; two daughters, Mary K. Thompson of Arlington and Maxine Wilder of McKinney; three brothers, Oliver Stevens of Celina, Sares Stevens of Sherman and H.L. Stevens of McKinney; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Lester Evans, William H. Evans and Clarence I. Evans; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Edna Jackson
WOLFE CITY - Edna Earl Jackson of Sachse died Saturday at Garland. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday in Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eldon Chester officiating. Burial will be in Shirley Cemetery in Sulpher Springs.
Born in Hopkins County on October 9, 1926, she was the daughter of Sam L. and Zella Mae Tatum Johnston. She married James Jackson. Mrs. Jackson was retired from the used auto business.
Surviving are one son, Sunny Kimbrell of Plano; five daughters, Carol Swindle of Rockwall, Tommy Woody of Wolfe City, Jamie Nguyen of Garland, Ann Welsh of Garland and Shannon Autrey of Sachse; one brother, B.C. Johnston of Emory; two sisters Jimmie Herring of Wolfe City and Annette Robinson of Conway, Ark.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday before services.

Wanda Clotile Jones, 78, of Greenville died at Presbyterian Hospital Greenville Saturday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Rev. Mike Wyatt and Rev. Melvin Ray officiating. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.
Born on July 3, 1919 in Hunt County, she was the daughter of John and Nannie Shipp Evans. he married Dale Wright Jones on Feb. 19, 1938 in Cooper.
She was a homemaker and a member of Park Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons James Jones of Greenville and Bill Jones of Rowlett, and seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband; one son, Bob Jones and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Bill Jones, Matthew Jones, Thurman Adams, Sam Beetes, Cody Bettes and Jeremy McClanahan
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Ella Virginia Leach of Greenville died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. No services are planned at this time.
She was born Dec. 6, 1915 in Warrenton, Va., daughter of Watson and Lula Haley. She married Ralph T. Leach Sr. Mrs. Leach was a homemaker. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene V. Burks of Greenville; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband, a son and a daughter preceded her in death.

Edna Akers
Edna Ray Akers, 97, of Winsor-Care Nursing Home in Terrell died Wednesday. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Odom officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Daughter of Lindsey Sandlin and Izora Whitaker, she was born in Hunt County on Oct. 22, 1900. She married John Akers in Greenville on Nov. 29, 1919. Mrs. Akers was a housewife. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of Terrell; a son, John Akers of Terrell; a daughter, Wilma Quattlebaum of Terrell; a brother, Peak Sandlin of Ft. Worth; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son and three brothers.

Roscoe Anderson
Roscoe R. Anderson of Dallas died Sunday at his home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Church of God in Christ in Greenville with Bobby Crosby officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
He was born in Greenville on June 1, 1930, the son of Johnnie and Minnie Lee Graham Anderson. He was an employee of Dallas Market Hall. Mr. Anderson was a member of Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include four brothers, Elder M.G. Anderson, Thomas Anderson of Dallas, and Louis Anderson and Robert Anderson of Greenville and three sisters, Frances Foster, Emma Anderson and Louise Younger, all of Dallas.
Preceding him death were his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
