Melvin "Tuggie" Davis of Greenville died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at Mount Elem Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Ronald Davis officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
The son of Jessie Lee and Beulah Robinson Davis, he was born May 15, 1911 in Greenville. He and Essie Brigham were married in 1934 in Greenville. He was a retired concrete contractor. Mr. Davis was a member of Mount Elem Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Davis and Gerry Bruce Davis, both of Greenville; a daughter, Nadine Lumpkins of Dallas; three brothers, Charles Davis of Greenville and James Davis and Abe Davis, both of Dallas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son and a sister.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Cecile Harbuck
Cecile H. Harbuck, 75, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Greenville, died Monday at her residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel of Greenville with Rev. Rick Blue officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born in Yowell on Jan. 21, 1922 to Hastill Steward and Jesse Hughes. She married L.C. "Jack" Harbuck on Aug. 21, 1942 in Greenville. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Harbuck was a Baptist.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Ottwell of Tempe, Ariz.; three sisters, Virginia Steward of Houston, Julia Pope of Big Spring and Joyce Thompson of Hilton Head, S.C. and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, one daughter, Carole Sorensen, and one brother.
Vera Hopson
Vera Louise Hopson, 81, of Greenville, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. No funeral services are planned.
Born in Indiana on April 12, 1916, she was the daughter of Harley H. Byrd and Laura Sink Byrd. She was a factory worker in the Wire Company. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Susan Hopson of Greenville; a brother, Rex Byrd of Huntington, Ind.; a sister, Neva Fluke of Huntington, Ind. and two grandchildren.

Bobby Martin
FARMERSVILLE - Bobby J. Martin, 68, of Wills Point died Wednesday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brinwood Shores Clubhouse in Wills Point with John Connors officiating.
He was born in Dallas on June 23, 1929 to William Lee and Katie Jones Martin. He married Stella May Land on Nov. 21, 1947 in Dallas. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Martin worked for Jet Sheet Metal.
Surviving are his wife of Wills Point; two daughters, Claudia Gaule of Farmersville and Cynthia Moses of Carrollton; two sons, James Martin of Garland and Robert Woody of Oak Cliff; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Lonnie Murphy
McKINNEY- Rev. Lonnie Murphy, 62, of Trenton died Wednesday at Northeast Medical Center in Bonham. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at North Baptist Church in McKinney with the Revs. Walter Allen, Phillip Smith, Bob Collinsworth and Joe Pendleton officiating. Burial is in Ridgeview Memorial Park.
Son of John W. Murphy and Esther Riley Murphy, he was born Jan. 31, 1935 in McKinney. He married Wanda Hart in McKinney on Jan. 21, 1956. He was a graduate of Decatur Baptist College, now Dallas Baptist University. He was a Baptist minister who pastored numerous churches in Collin, Hunt and Fannin Counties. Rev. Murphy was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. He also worked for Fisher Controls for 17 years.
He is survived by his wife of Trenton; two sons, Lonnie Glenn Murphy of Trenton and Virgil Dale Murphy of Westminster; a daughter, Pam Howell of Trenton; four brothers, Bill Murphy of Albuquerque, N.M., Dorisey Murphy and Joe Murphy, both of Wylie, and Buddy Murphy of Lucas; three sisters, Tress Campbell and Sarah Knight, both of Trenton, and Louetta Wilson of Branch; two grandsons, Tim Howell and Wesley Murphy, both of Trenton; two granddaughters, Irene Capehart of Bonham and Misty Howell of Trenton; one great-grandson, Jordan Capehart of Bonham and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred Mathis
FORT WORTH - Mildred Mae Mathis, 52, of Fort Worth died Sunday at a local hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Clark Street Christian Church in Greenville. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park.
She was born May 19, 1945. She had lived in Fort Worth for nine years and was an inventory puller for Radio Shack for eight years.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene Mathis; two daughters, Tanya Jones and Janita Rhoden; two brothers, Franklin Smallwood and Boone Smallwood; four sisters, Billie Daniels, Patsy Davidson, Irene Robinson and Marie Perkins; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Melenda Morel
Melenda Sue Morel, 24, of Greenville died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Graveside services will be at East Mount Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating.
Born in Mississippi on Sept. 6, 1973, she was the daughter of Jerry Roberson and Martha Sue Roden. She was a former cashier at Church's Chicken. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her mother, Martha Sue Anderson of Greenville; her grandmother, Gladys Roden of Greenville; three daughters, Melissa Kimberlin and Susan Kimberlin, both of Greenville, and Melody Morel of Tennessee; and a sister, Serina Krause of Irving.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation is 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Alyne Smith
ROYSE CITY - Funeral services for Alyne Kuykendall Smith, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. George McCain officiating. Burial will be in the Royse City Cemetery.
She died Tuesday in a Dallas hospital.
A lifelong resident of Royse City, she was born there on Aug., 28, 1906, daughter of James Able and Mary Ellison Kuykendall. On Dec. 3, 1929 she was married to J. Roy Smith, who preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a retired bookkeeper. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church since 1918 and she was a member of the Martha Bible Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Annagene Temple of Dallas and Myra Dell King of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bradley King, Steve Rogers, David Temple, Jonathan King, B.L. Temple and Robert Temple.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Royse City.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Royse City Funeral Chapel.
Pauline Craigo
Pauline E. Craigo, 88, of Celeste, died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Celeste with Rev. Bob Layman and Rev. James Ralson officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born in Farmersville on Aug. 5, 1909, daughter of Thomas A. Logan and Mary Etta Thompson. She married Robert A. Craigo on July 11, 1925 in Soper, Okla.
Mrs. Craigo was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Logan and Darlene Craigo of Haughton, La.; a sister, Elsie Mason of Antlers, Okla.; four grandchildren, Paula A. Craigo-Lieske of Chicago, Ill., Robert A. Craigo of Baton Rouge, La., Jana C. Holdsworth of Haughton, La. and Mary E. Craigo of Haughton, La., and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955 and three brothers.
Pallbearers are Doug Armstrong, Don Armstrong, Johnny Myers, Clifford Clark, Ralph Evans Jr., and Russell Compton. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Lacy, Lee McCorstin, Billy Elam, Ralph Evans Sr. and Albert Granberry.

Robert Morris
CADDO MILLS - Robert Allen Morris, 85, of Caddo Mills, died Monday in Rowlett. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Caddo Mills with Rev. Steve Shipley and Rev. Tray Lancaster officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
He was born in Celeste on July 3, 1912 to Henry Washington Morris and Cora Lee Attebery Morris. He married Laura Menefee on Jan. 21, 1942. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Morris was a farmer. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of Caddo Mills; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry "Buddy" and Eunice Morris of Mesquite and Ronald Lee and Diane Morris of Dallas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Allen and Terry Boren of Garland and Debbie and Jim Schmuck of Corinth; a sister, Eunice East of Fate; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Henry Morris, Terry Boren, Ronnie Morris, Jim Schmuck, J.C. East and Johnny Weatherly.

FARMERSVILLE - Rolene Stroup, 87, of Farmersville died Monday at Hinton Nursing Home in Farmersville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at the First Methodist Church in Farmersville with Rev. Dee Martin, Rev. Gene Gordon and Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Burial is in the Farmersville I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
The daughter of Rad and Rolene Cantrell, she was born in Cowskin on Aug. 3, 1910. Her first husband, George Wilcoxson, died in 1982.
She married Paul Stroup on July 26, 1983. She was a homemaker. She was a Methodist and a member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband of Farmersville; a daughter, Patsy Johnson of Rockwall; a son, Jerry Wilcoxson of Wills Point; two stepsons, Sidney E. Stroup of Farmersville and Paul H. Stroup of McKinney; two sisters, Willie Bostick of Greenville and Geneva Compton of Greenville; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
James Carter
WICHITA, Kans. - James A."Tony" Carter of Wichita, formerly of Greenville, died Thursday at Wesley Hospital. Funeral services aree at 1 p.m. Thursday in Wichita at the Jackson Mortuary.
He was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Gilmer to L.J. and Dorothy Carter. Mr. Carter had lived in Kansas for over 25 years.
Surviving are his mother; two sons, Jason Carter and Tony Carter, both of Wichita; a daughter, Trinia Kudjo of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Billy Carter and two sisters, Dorothy Evans and Monica Jackson, both of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Rev. James Benson
Rev. James E. Benson of Greenville died Sunday in Commerce. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James C. Nance officiating. Burial is in Simmons Cemetery.
The son of Fredrick Benson and Zelma Long Benson, he was born Nov. 1, 1926 in Dallas. He married Lottie Mae Worcester in Farmersville on Dec. 28, 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Rev. Benson was a major and chaplain of the Civil Air Patrol, and he was a lifetime member. He was also a lifetime member and chaplain of the VFW. He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Ronnie Benson and Perry Benson, both of Greenville, and Alfred Benson of San Antonio; a daughter, Michelle Shook of Commerce; a brother, Darrell Benson of Gatesville; two sisters, Barbara Huffaker of Kemp and Beth Cleveland of Greenville; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on July 31, 1989 and a daughter, Linda LeVier on March 21, 1997.
Pallbearers are Mark Bedford, Johnny Benson, Eddie Benson, Tony Pineda, Albert Cleveland and Randall Huffaker.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mattie Casey
Graveside services for Mattie R. Casey, 76, of Greenville are at Memoryland Memorial Park at 10 a.m. today with Herman Sargent officiating.
She died Saturday at Greencrest Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Casey was born in Floyd on May 4, 1921, daughter of Pearl Finley. She married Ozie Joe Casey on May 20, 1950 in Greenville. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Hillside Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Joe Allen Casey of Greenville; two daughters, Linda Waid of Greenville and Betty Curry of Greenville and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; one son, and two sisters.
