James Glover Jr.

James Alvin Glover Jr. of Greenville died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Gordon Grammer officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

The son of James A. Glover and Jennie Nowell Glover, he was born Nov. 21, 1909 in Cabot, Ark. He married Sally Mae Byrd on Aug. 30, 1936 in Mercedes. Mr. Glover was owner of a grocery store. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ.

Surviving are a son, James A. Glover of Sherman, a niece, Ann Glover of Greenville and a cousin, Melba Murray of Corpus Christi.

His wife preceded him in death in 1983.

Pallbearers are Bob Briscoe, Simon Copeland, Danny Myrick, Billy Howard, Olen Gilmore, Waldon Krodle and Chuck Wood.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Penny Gray

QUINLAN- Penny Gray, 35, of Quinlan died Friday in Dallas. There will be a graveside service in Sayre, Okla. at 1 p.m. Saturday.

She was born in Hobbs, N.M. on July 19, 1962. She was the daughter of Clyde L. and Beverly Berry Gray.

Surviving are her father and a sister, Kim Gray Megahan of Garland.

She was preceded in death by her mother on Jan. 6, 1985.

Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hubert Holland

McKINNEY - Hubert Lee Holland, 87, of Greenville, died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel and a graveside service is at 4 p.m. at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. Rev. Mark Mullins and Rev.Tony Ross will officiate.

Mr. Holland was a member of Bible Missionary Church in Greenville and was a farmer for most of his life in the Oklahoma area.

He is survived by his wife, Elnora Holland of Greenville; a daughter, Glenda Rask of Farmington, N.Y.; sisters, Bernice Setser and Winnie B. Zimmerman, both of Carlsbad, N.M.; three grandchildren, Cheri McCauley and Tamera Bradbury of Farmington, N.Y. and Scott McWilliams of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dora Holland; his first wife, Nellie Holland in 1991 and a brother, Otis Holland.

Belew Funeral Home of McKinney is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lewis

EMORY - Mary Grace Lewis, 65, of Point died Sunday at her daughter's home in Rains County. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at the Emory United Methodist Church with Rev. David Diller officiating. Burial will be in the Emory City Cemetery.

She was born March 26, 1932 in Red River County to Van Minter and Grace Beaird. She and Dan Wallace Lewis were married April 1, 1949 in Borger. Mrs. Lewis was a mother and housewife. She was a Methodist and was a Doe in the Elks Lodge.

Surviving are a son, Jerry Dan Joslin of Farmersville; two daughters, Diana Fleming of Point and Sharon Burdette of Gilmer; two brothers, Wayne Minter of Farmers Branch and Milt Minter of Annona; two sisters, Murlene Cheyne of Annona and Jean Ogletree of Farmers Branch; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991 and by five brothers.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Vaughn

Mary Lee Vaughn, 81, of Greenville died Sunday at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Arnold and Rev. Louise Welch officiating. Burial will be in Brigham Cemetery.

She was born in Campbell on Nov. 24, 1916 to Anderson D. Ethridge and Lillie White. She married Willard C. Vaughn in Sulphur Springs on Feb. 11, 1941. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of Campbell United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Leslie Dean Vaughn of Garland; a brother, Sam Ethridge of Greenville; a sister, Myrtle Ethridge of Greenville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; a daughter, Linda Sue Vaughn in 1956; brothers J.D. Ethridge and Willis Ethridge; a sister, Thelma Frazier and half-brothers Roy Graham and Ernest Graham.

Pallbearers will be Sean Vaughn, Jason Hamilton, David Frazier, A.J. Frazier, G.E. Vaughn and A.D. Ethridge.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Quentin Cutler

EMORY - Services for Quentin Ray Cutler, 79, of Emory, aree at 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul Anderson officiating. Burial is at 3 p.m. in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. He died Friday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Bellingham, Wash., he was the son of Harvey Sylvanus and Althea Regina Taylor Cutler. He married Nancy Jean Perry in 1946. After her death, he married Gladys McGuire in Arlington on July 7, 1979.

He retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1961, after 20 years of service. During World War II, between 1943 and 1945, he took part in the Africa-Middle East Campaign, including Sicily and Italy. He served in the Japanese Occupation and from 1950 until 1953 in the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the military, he joined the Department of Defense, retiring in 1974.

He was a Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, of Emory; his daughters Valerie McDaniel of Houston, Pamela Bolen of Ogdensburg, Wis. and Claudia Moss of Dallas; his brother, Lee C. Cutler of Sacramento, Calif. and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 until 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Scott Hall

VERNON - Services for Scott Lee Hall, 29, of Greenville, are 2 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church of Vernon with Dr. Isaac Butterworth and Dr. Charles Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park. A memorial service will be in Greenville at a later date. He died Friday in Hunt County.

Born in Amarillo on Feb. 9, 1968, he was the son of Alvin Lee Hall of Vernon and Marilyn McCrary Jackson of Dallas. He married Dawn Gearld in Fort Worth on Aug. 25, 1989.

He lived in the Dallas area most of his life and in Greenville with his wife and children. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vernon. He had served in the U.S. Navy from 1988 until 1996 as a Petty Officer Second Class. He was employed at Raytheon/E-Systems as a test engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Hall of Greenville; one son, Chris Hall of Greenville; one daughter, Ashleigh Hall of Greenville; one sister, Betsy Jackson of Dallas; his parents, Alvin Hall of Vernon and Marilyn Jackson of Dallas; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCrary of Vernon and Mrs. Capper Hall of Vernon. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Capper Hall.

Pallbearers will be Ray Gearld, Richard Gearld, Mark McCrary, Shane Heald, Len Woodard and Jon Borttorff.

Visitation is scheduled from 7 until 8 p.m. this evening at Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, which is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Marshall

Services for Alice S. "Bobbie" Marshall, 85, of Greenville, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Johnson Street Church of Christ with Dale Duncan officiating, assisted by grandsons. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. She died Friday in Grand Saline.

Born in Fort Worth on July 2, 1912, she was the daughter of Coy and Clara Maples Stubblefield. She was married to O. B. Marshall in Bonham on Feb. 5, 1939. She was a clerk for the Hunt County Tax Office and a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Andy Marshall of McKinney; her daughter, Ann Duncan of Holly Lake Ranch; her brother, W. E. DeLoach of Rogers, Ark., nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.

Pallbearers are Jeff Duncan, Greg Duncan, Jason Duncan, Chad Marshall, Bobby Carlson, Kelly Carlson, Kurt Carlson, Gregory Duncan, Todd Dickerson and Blake Duncan.

Visitation is scheduled from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Glenna Carter

COMMERCE - Glenna Margaret Carter, 58, of Commerce died Thursday at Oak Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services were Thursday afternoon at Rosemound Cemetery.

Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 16, 1939, in Sulphur Springs; the daughter of Glenn and Margaret Schrocshrie Walls. She was married to Robert Carter in 1975 in Sulphur Springs. She was a Baptist.

Surviving are her husband of Commerce; two daughters, Mitzi Alderman of Rockwall and Suzanne Whittington of Portland, Ore; four sons, Buddy Carter and Chuck Cawthon, both of Commerce; Johnny Carter of Cumby and Steve Carter of Sulphur Springs; and grandmother, Porshie Faulk of Pickton.

Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Moffitt

QUINLAN - Mary V. Moffitt, 70, of Greenville died Monday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenville with Bishop A.M. Gomez officiating. Burial will be in Vansickle Cemetery.

The daughter of Lascar Brinkley and Minnie Mae Vann, she was born Dec. 27, 1927 in Hopewell, Va. She was married to William Moffitt on Feb. 6, 1947 in Newport News, Va. She was a housewife. Mrs. Moffitt was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-Greenville.

Surviving are her husband of Greenville; three sons, William David Moffitt of Roswell, N.M., Edward Dock Moffitt of Quinlan and Bedford Cecil Moffitt of Chandler, Ariz.; four daughters, Mary Anne Gonzales of Los Angeles, Calif., Della Mae Carpenter of New Jersey, Minnie Lou Miles of Mount Pleasant and Betty Jane Moffitt of Greenville; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Rosa White and Minnie Brinkley.

Pallbearers are Chris Moffitt, Michael Moffitt, Matthew Moffitt, Christopher Carpenter, Sammy Miles and Bill Jones.

Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the church. Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Smith

EMORY - James E. "Jim" Smith, 69,. of Emory died Thursday at his home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Emory Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Anderson officiating. Burial is in Emory City Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Shawnee, Okla.; the son of Delbert and Helen Shepard Smith. He married Irene Bone on June 12, 1971, in Plano. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a retired U.S. Government employee and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife of Emory; two sons, Jack Smith of Dallas and Michael German of Emory; three daughters, Janet Chamber of Emory, Nancy Grimes of Austin and Paula Carrell of Denton; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Danny Beasley, Allen Stuart, Ron Bone, Dempsy Bullock, Bill Beasley and Cass Cooper.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Bill Hicks

WOLFE CITY - Billie Dean Hicks, 56, of Greenville, died Tuesday at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Wolfe City. Burial will be in Celeste Cemetery in Celeste.

He was born May 26, 1941 in Celeste to Jessie Lee and Nellie Bradford Hicks. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hicks was a mechanic. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are three sons, William Dean Hicks and Curtis Hicks of Whitewright and Eric Hicks of Greenville; five brothers, Sonny Hicks of Celeste, Aubrey Hicks of Winnsboro, Lee Hicks of Arlington and Ray Hicks and Joe Hicks of Greenville; five sisters, Jessie Nell Childers of Greenville, Juanita Haskins of Longview, Movlene Hart of Scurry, Betty Jean McElwrath of Lake Tawakoni and Lenora Cline of Bonham and five grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary V. Moffitt

QUINLAN - Mary V. Moffitt, 70, of Greenville died Monday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenville with Bishop A.M. Gomez officiating. Burial will be in Vansickle Cemetery.

Myron Biester

LONE OAK - Myron Anthony Biester, 54, of West Tawakoni died Friday in Terrell. Memorial services were at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Bartley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Reese officiating.

Mr. Biester was born July 3, 1943, in Horton, Kans.; the son of Walter and Irene Biester Hunt . He married Starlet Harrington on Feb. 14, 1994, in Quinlan. He was a welder and served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife of West Tawakoni; mother of Topeka, Kans.; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and James Smith of Garland; brother, Mike Hunt of Medford, Okla.; sisters, Cheryl Schroeder and Goaia Hunt, both of Topeka; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
