Teresa Moore

@Normal: Teresa Kay Moore, 17, of Greenville died Thursday. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home with Grant Ludke officiating. Burial is in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Miss Moore was born January 19, 1981 in Terrell; the daughter of Terry Lee Moore and Melissa Timms Simpson. A high school student, she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving are her father, Terry Moore of Dallas; mother and step-father, Melissa and Mike Simpson of Greenville; grandparents, Margie and Clarence Dadin of Caddo Mills, Bobby and Patsy Timms of Terrell; Charles Simpson Sr. of Greenville and Lea Conway of Yantis; great-grandparents, Luther and Charlie Mae Meadows, Dorothy Collins and Houston Collins; brothers, Tony Moore of Terrell and Lance Simpson of Greenville; sisters, Kimberly Rowe of Greenville and Lisa Simpson of Sulphur Springs.

Others survivors are aunts, Cassie Timms of Rockport, Diana Dickerson and Jean Ann Fennell, both of Austin, Cheryl Timms of Coppell, Judy Simpson of Sulphur Springs, Jean Fennell of Austin, Belinda McKee of Pasadena, and Sharon Timms, Denise Douglas, Barbara Weirman Smith and Lisa Timms, all of Terrell; uncles. Terry Douglas, Lloyd Timms, Gary Timms and Bo Smith, all of Terrell, Bobby Timms of Rockport, Gus Venetoulias of Pasadena, Jack Simpson of Austin, Jerry Moore of Atlanta, Ga., Charles Simpson Jr. and Lesley Simpson, both of Sulphur Springs, and Dickie Timms.

Also, cousins, Michael, Matthew and Lacy Moore; Jay Doolin; Nathan, Jordan and Sarah Doolin; Clayton Doolin; Sheila Harrell; Diane Mosman; Davi Harbrough; Jerry Sanson; Carla and Will Bryant; Patricia and Tiffany Timms; Tiffany, Jonathan, Exie and Hannah Simpson; Kylie Timms; Amber and Christy Timms; Bobby Jr. III, Tyler, Amber, Margilea and Marjorie Simpson; Joseph, Joshua, Anna and Jeremy Douglas; Belinda and Jimmy McKee; Lloyd, Greg, Ariana and Aerial Timms; and Jennifer, Ashley and Brandon Powell.

Pallbearers are Tony Moore, Mike Burchell, Joshua Douglas, Gary Timms, Gus Venetoulias, Terry Douglas, Joseph Douglas and Bobby Timms.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Brutus Roberts

Brutus Ceazar Roberts, 90, of Emory died Thursday in Sulphur Springs. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Wyman officiating. Burial is in Hooker Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Roberts was born in Fate on Feb. 14, 1908, son of John George Roberts and Annie Mae Kemp. He was a farmer and a Baptist.

Surviving are a sister, Willie Dodson of Commerce and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were two sisters and three brothers.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Dexter E. Converse

Funeral services for Dexter E. Converse of Greenville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Louise Welch and Rev. Gene Welburn officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Mr. Converse died Wednesday.

He was born March 30, 1902 in Five Mile Prairie, Okla., son of Dexter D. Converse Sr. and Molly Mitchner Dunkin. He married Sarah "Sally" Frances Inabinette on July 15, 1922 in the Wieland Community. He was a car inspector for Cottonbelt Railroad. Mr. Converse was a member of Westview Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Katherine Converse of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Harold Bell of Dallas; sisters-in-law Oleta Inabinette of Greenville and Mary Nell Converse of Nederland; grandchildren Deborah and Everett Logan of Bedford, Sharon and Johnny Stubbs of Bethany, Okla., Brad and Vicki Bell of Dallas and Dean and Kim Converse of Greenville and great-grandchildren Ryan Richey, Joshua Stubbs, Chasta Logan, Crystal Bell, Natalie Bell, Nichole Bell, Trey Logan, Sarah Stubbs, Cody Converse, Jenna Stubbs, Courtney Converse and Brock Bell.

He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Edward Converse; two brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons: Dean Converse, Everett Logan, Brad Bell, Johnny Stubbs, Ryan Richey, Trey Logan, Joshua Stubbs, Cody Converse and Brock Bell.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charley Duncan

QUINLAN - Charley Earl Duncan, 77, of Quinlan, died Wednesday at Vencor Rehab Center in Dallas. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ben Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Park.

He was born July 19, 1920 in Tyler, son of William and Sarah Woodall Duncan. He was the owner, operator of a convenience store in Quinlan.

Surviving are four sons, Clarence Ray Duncan, Gary Earl Duncan, Doyle Gene Duncan and Billy Wayne Duncan; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

His wife, Ellen Marie Duncan, preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 1987.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ludee Mae Harrison

Funeral services for Miss Ludee Mae Harrison of Greenville are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

She died Wednesday at Briarcliff Health Center.

Born in Daingerfield, she was the daughter of J.H. Harrison and Fannie E. Long. She attended East Texas State University and graduated from Baylor University. She retired from the faculty of John Tyler High School in Tyler; she also taught in public schools of Ozona, Abilene and Sweetwater and a Kilgore College.

Miss Harrison was a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star, Baylor Heritage Club and State and National Retired Teachers Associations. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

She is survived by special friends Preston and Mary Moser of Greenville and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Elizabeth Harrison in 1983, Maude Harrison in 1964 and Pearle Harrison in 1982.

Charles Harzke

COMMERCE - Charles Hugh Harzke, 39, of Commerce died Tuesday. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sonora Cemetery with Rev. Edwin "Mutt" Wallace officiating.

Son of Henry H. Harzke and Barbara V. Moxley, he was born in Brenham on Feb. 8, 1959. He moved to the Commerce area from Winfield, Iowa in 1980. He attended Oakridge Baptist Church in Boswell, Okla.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Harzke of Commerce; his mother of Commerce; a son, Shane Kyle Harzke of Commerce; two sisters, Mary Kathryn Vance of Salem Iowa and Betty Sue Peters of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Howard Jackson Harzke, John Thomas Harzek and Bill W. Harzke, all of Commerce; several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1993; his grandparents and one brother.

Pallbearers will be John Harzke, Jack Harzke, Bill Harzke, Terry Vance, Nicky Wallace and Stanley Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Anderson and Gary Don Anderson.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Pemberton Funeral Home, Commerce.

Ethel Moton

Ethel Moton of Greenville died Wednesday in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Center Point Christian Church with Rev. Wilbert Fountain officiating. Burial will be in East Mount Cemetery.
Daughter of John and Dyras Clay Reed, she was born May 1, 1928 in Greenville. She married Alvin Moton on Dec. 27, 1946 in Greenville. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Moton was a member of Center Point Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, James Moton and Alvin Moton Jr. of Dallas and Tony Moton of Rowlett; three daughters, Debra Heard and Kathy Moton of Dallas and Beulah Robertson of Mesquite; two brothers, Harry James Reed of Los Angeles, Calif. and T.C. Reed of Greenville; two sisters, Jo Arthur Green of Greenville and Lena Barnett of Campbell; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be James Moton, Alvin Moton Jr., Tony Moton, Larry Robertson, Stanley Scroggins and Kevin Barnett.

Visitation is 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home Chapel.

Roy W. Roundtree

PITTSBURG - Roy W. Roundtree, 77, of Pittsburg died Tuesday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Price and Dave Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

He was born in Hunt County on Dec. 21, 1920, son of Lawrence N. and Clysta Alexander Rountree, and had lived in Pittsburg since 1962. He was a veteran, retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years, and serving in the South Pacific during World War II.

Mr. Roundtree was manager of the Chamber of Commerce in Pittsburg from 1962 through 1985; he was a founding member of East Texas Gulf Highway Association, an officer for Texas Good Roads Association, chairman for ten years of NETCOG Private Industry Council, member of the Advisory Board for Communities in Schools of Northeast Texas and a board member for Child Care Management Services.

He is survived by two sons, Don Roundtree of Sulphur Springs and Jim Roundtree of Burnet; three brothers, Bill Roundtree and Paul Roundtree of Wolfe City and William Roundtree of Dallas; a sister, Jeanine Lowery of Hopkins County; three granddaughters and two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Roundtree, on April 28, 1995, and a brother, Louie Roundtree.

James Todd

VAN ALSTYNE - James Arthur Todd, 98, of Gunter died Wednesday at Hilltop Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne with Bob Layman and Scott Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery.

Son of William Jefferson Todd and Nancy Ellen Shelley Todd, he was born in Trenton on July 12, 1899. He married Lillian Taylor on Oct. 8, 1920 in Gunter; she preceded him in death on April 25, 1947. He later married Ada Jeffress who died in August 1981.

He was a farmer and a truck driver and worked for the City of Gunter. Mr. Todd was a member of First Baptist Church in Gunter.

Surviving are five daughters, Jimmie Garner of Gunter, Lorene Grissom of Van Alstyne, Jessie Lou Burke of Dorchester, Wanda Lee Bartlett of Sherman, and Doris Jean Layman of Greenville; four stepdaughters, Rosa Jackson of Prosper, Jane Clark of Denton, Margaret Harris of Gunter and Helen Bland of Wenatche, Wash.; a stepson James Jeffress of Petersburg; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maxine Holder

Maxine Holder of Lubbock died Sunday. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Henslee officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

She was born June 1, 1914 in Beedeville, Ark. She attended Wesley College from 1926 to 1929; Abilene Christian College, 1929-1930 and East Texas State from 1926 to 1931. She married Floyd Holder on Dec. 12, 1932 in Durant, Okla.

Mrs. Holder was the former owner of Floyd's Restaurant.

Survivors include four sons, Floyd Holder of Lubbock, Dorman Holder of Dallas, Ronald Holder of Farmers Branch and Bobby Holder of Jacksonville; three daughters, Betty Mason of Albuquerque, N.M., Beverly Lyford of Dallas and Brenda Medford of Baycliff; a brother, James Thomas Barber; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988 and a daughter, Barbara Vervalin in 1996.

Fred Hughes

FORT WORTH - Graveside services for Fred Spencer Hughes, 66, of Greenville will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Cemetery. He died Monday at his residence.

He was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Fort Worth. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Hughes worked for Morton Foods for 17 years and worked as a salesman for the FortWorth Star-Telegram for 35 years.

Surviving are three sons, Fred S. Hughes Jr. of Latrobe, Pa., Terry L. Hughes of Mesquite and Audie R. Hughes of Greenville; two stepsons, Robert Forrester and Larry Forrester; two daughters, Helen Crumpton of Mascotte, Fla. and Cylinda S. Hughes of Groesbeck; a stepdaughter, Shirley Forrester; a sister, Doris Dittman of Haltom City; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice or charity of choice.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Mount Olivet Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Doris Jordan

JASPER- Funeral services for Doris Lovetta Jordan, 77, of Celeste, are at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Oaks Memorial Chapel in Jasper with Dr. Jerry Neff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Jasper.

She died Monday in Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.

Born in Sulphur Springs on July 4, 1920, she was the daughter of Edward Carl and Cordia Greer Roach. She married Dale Bradford Jordan in 1950 in Dallas. She was a longtime resident of Grand Prairie and Mineola prior to moving to Sulphur Springs earlier this year.

A shipping clerk, Mrs. Jordan retired from East Texas Motor Freight Company in 1976 with 30 years' service. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Mineola and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and was active in civic affairs in Mineola and Grand Prairie.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Brock of Celeste; a brother, Kelsie Roach of Lufkin; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs.

Ellyn Matheny

FARMERSVILLE - Ellyn Jones Matheny, 85, of Farmersville died Sunday in McKinney. Funeral services are at 2 p.m Friday at the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home with Jackie W. Tedford officiating. Burial is in Snow Hill Cemetery.

The daughter of Tolbert and Esther Dorrough Jones, she was born in Powersite, Mo., on Dec. 10, 1912. She and W.C. "Buck" Matheny were married April 5, 1963 in Brazoria County. She worked as a bookkeeper and a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband of Farmersville; a daughter, Virginia Tedford Piland of Kingman, Ariz.; four sons, Johnny L. Tedford of England; Tolbert D. Tedford of Seguin, Bobby Dean Tedford of Mission Viejo, Calif. and Jackie W. Tedford of Austin, Ark.; a stepson, Charles Matheny of Alvin; a sister, Myrtle DeForest of Rockport; two brothers, Tolbert Jones Jr. of Kerrville and Robert L. Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ardell Smith

LUBBOCK - Services for Ardell Smith, 82, of Greenville, are at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sanders Memorial Chapel, Lubbock. Officiating will be the Rev. Walter E. Allen. Burial is in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

She died Saturday at the Pythian Home for Aged Citizens in Greenville.

She was born June 23, 1915 in Quanah and moved to Lubbock in 1933 and to Greenville in 1994. She married Lee Roy Smith on Oct. 19, 1946 in Lubbock. She graduated from Quanah High School and attended Texas Tech University.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a former member of Second Baptist Church and a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville. She was a Pythian Sister and past Grand Temple Representative.

Surviving are her husband of Greenville; two sons, Robert C. Smith of Denver, Colo. and Harold Gene Smith of Midland; one stepson, James L. Smith of Lubbock and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Pythian Home Inc., Box 239, Weatherford.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock.
