Kathy Henderson

Kathy Jean Bray Henderson of Greenville died Friday in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services are at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood.

She was born Jan. 22, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Raymond and Juanita Bray. She married Michael Ray Henderson in September of 1976. She was employed by the United States Postal Service as a clerk, and was a member of the Baptist Church of Wylie.

Surviving are her husband of Greenville; her parents of Healdton, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Jennifer Henderson of Edgewood; daughters and sons-in-law Angela and Chris McCord of Kingwood and Lori and Scott Phillips of Honolulu, Hawaii; brothers Bill Bray of Norman, Okla., and Tom Bray of Healdton; a sister, Rebecca McLemore of Healdton; a grandmother, Ada Ratliff of Healdton, and five grandchildren.

Herschel LyBrand Funeral Home of Edgewood is in charge of arrangements.

Billie Jo Lyles

MENA, ARK. - Mrs. Billie Jo "Tic" Lyles, 81, of Hatfield, Ark. died Saturday in St. Edwards Hospital. Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. in the Hatfield First Baptist Church with Rev. Carter Lyles and Rev. Brad Justice officiating. Burial is in Six Mile Cemetery.

Born in Ector on Aug. 12, 1916, she was the daughter of Jess D. and Ada Henry Cotham. She married Rev. A.C. Lyles. Making her home in Polk County since 1968, she was a beautician. A pastor's wife, she was a member of the Hatfield Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Billie Faye McDuff of Fort Worth; two sons, Johnny Ray Lyles of Belle Plaine, Kan. and Jerry Wayne Lyles of Hatfield, Ark.; four sisters, Kathline Davis of Plano, Edith Rae Vinson of Leonard, Laura Mae Davis of Sherman and Virginia Wilson of Bonham; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, on June 19, 1996, and two brothers, Lumas Clotho Cotham and J.B. "Tooter" Cotham.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Hall Funeral Service, Inc. of Mena, Ark. is in charge of arrangements.

D.W. Martin

D.W. Martin, 82, of Irving, died Sunday at his residence. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Son of Hoyt Martin and Molly Cook Martin, he was born in Leesburg on Jan. 19, 1916. He married Hazel Brandon in Garland in 1948. Mr. Martin was a retired conductor with the Kansas City Southern Railroad. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Bobby G. Martin of Carrollton; two daughters, Peggy Newell of Irving and Nancy Hendrix of Pulaski, Tenn.; a sister, Ina Putman of Overton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 28, 1996; two sisters and four brothers.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Ridling

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Graveside services for William Ralph (Buck) Ridling, 95, of Sulphur Springs are at 10 a.m. today in Restlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Fred W. Lewis will officiate.

He died Sunday at his residence after a long illness.

He was born in Lamar County on Feb. 12, 1903, the son of William Justin and Mamie Lavinia Dunham Ridling. He married Mary Ann Chaffin in Sherman on Jan. 22, 1925.

Mr. Ridling was a longtime resident of the Fairlie Community in Hunt County prior to moving to Sulphur Springs. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs.

He is survived by a son, Gene Clint Ridling of Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 15, 1986; a brother, Harry C. Ridling and a sister, Ruth Ridling Braddock.

West Oaks Funeral Home, Inc. of Sulphur Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Luther Rowell

LEONARD - Graveside services for Luther H. Rowell, 87, of Leonard are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crossroads Cemetery near Desert. He died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

He was born June 10, 1910 in Whitewright, son of William Monroe Rowell and Martha Emma Tidwell Rowell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Leonard and was a retired car salesman.

Surviving are a sister, Lois Arnwine of Keller and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard.

H.A. Turner

WOLFE CITY - H.A. Turner of Huntington Beach, Calif. died Friday at Huntington Beach Convalescent Home. Graveside services are at Lebanon Cemetery east of Commerce at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. George Taylor officiating.

Mr. Turner was born in Commerce on Dec. 31, 1913 to Harrie A. Turner and Lucinda Mae Pope Turner. He was a contractor and painter. Born and raised in Commerce, he lived in California for 65 years. He was a Protestant.

Surviving are three nephews, Bill Williams of San Marcos, Calif., Charles Bishop of Commerce and Bobby G. Brackon of Ft. Worth; a brother-in-law, George Williams of San Marcos, Calif. and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Anzel Turner and two sisters, Martha Martin and Mary Williams.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City.

Joe Lee Cannon

QUINLAN - Joe Lee Cannon, 60, of Kaufman died Thursday in Dallas. Services are at the Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. today with Rev. John Blake officiating. Burial will be in the Quinlan I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 17, 1937 in Quinlan, son of Dalton and Susie Todd Cannon. He married Wanda Anderton. Mr. Cannon owned and operated Cannon Grass and Trees in Kaufman.

Survivors include his wife of Kaufman; two daughters, Pamela Morris of Kaufman and Andi Jo Blake of Kaufman; a brother, James Ralph Smith of DeSoto; two sisters, Inez Turner of West Tawakoni and Faye Shepherd of Mahaya and five grandchildren, Brandon Lee Hughes of Kaufman, Courtney Morris of Farmers Branch, Randall Morris of Farmers Branch, Dani Blake of Kaufman and William Blake II of Kaufman.

A son, Danny Cannon, preceded him in death in 1985.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hughes, James Earl Carter, Shannon Smith, Ronald Park, Leroy Elliott and Wendall Butler. Brandon Lee Hughes, grandson, will serve as honorary pallbearer.

John Cook

John Melvin Cook, 75, of Rockwall died Thursday at his residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Cook officiating. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.

He was born in Fannin County on June 24, 1922 to John Henry Cook and Maggie Margaret Barnard. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Cook was a retired electrician and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years. He was a Methodist.

He is survived by two brothers, Leeman Cook of Greenville and Harold Cook of Ft. Worth and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Mrs. H.A. Key and three brothers, Lonnie Cook, Ray Cook and Jack Cook.

Marvin Stephenson

COMMERCE - Marvin William Stephenson, 84, of Quitman died Friday in Quitman. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fuller and Marvin Keltner officiating. Burial is in Rosemound Cemetery.

Mr. Stephenson was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Commerce; the son od William A. and Nora Surratt Stephenson. He married Grace Lou Perkins on June 6, 1936, in Greenville. He was a longtime resident of Quitman and a former Commerce resident.

He was a conductor for the Cotton Belt Railroad and retired in 1978 after 41 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mineola and the UTU train man organization.

Surviving are his wife of Quitman; sons, Larry Stephenson of Lake Fork and Tommy Stephenson of Quitman; and a nephew and wife, Joe and Betty Cloninger of Houston.

He was preceded in death by one sisger, Jessie Mae Stephenson.

Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Delores Terry

PLANO - Delores "Dodie" Terry, 64, of McKinney died Sunday. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano with Rev. Don Underwood officiating. Burial was in Plano Mutual Cemetery.

She was born in Greenville on May 9, 1933. Mrs. Terry was the organizer of Memorial Elementary PTA, an advocate for MHMR, a preschool teacher, Sunday School teacher, youth group organizer and an individual caregiver.

Surviving are her daugher, Gail Jaynes of Plano, sons Doyle Terry of Dallas and David Terry of Austin; a brother, Charles W. Slaughter of Cedar Creek Lake; a sister, Carmel Kelly; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Ted Dickey Funeral Home of Plano was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Turk

Jerry Allen Turk of Greenville died Thursday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday at Patrick Cemetery in Waco.

The son of Frank N. Turk and Anna Bell Hixson Turk, he was born Oct. 5, 1954 in Waco. He married Darla Terancine McCraw on Oct. 27, 1973 in Waco. Mr. Turk was owner/operator of Rainbow Carpets. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church. He was a member of Oak Creek Country Club and the Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife of Greenville; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mario Avolio of Greenville and daughter Lindsea Turk of Greenville; brothers Ronnie Turk of Gatesville and Frank Turk Jr. of Elm Mott; a sister, Frances Fortenberry of Waco and a godson, Jack McNellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Charley Tarrant, Brian Gibson, Todd McNellis, Tim Dooley, Duane Hubbard, David Nelson, Adam Bell, Matt Chapman, Andy Holder and David White. Cousins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lou Denton

Mrs. Lou Denton, 87, of Garland, died Wednesday at Baylor Medical Center in Garland. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Blake Switzer officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

The daughter of Augustus P. Jared and Genie Hayes Jared, she was born in Leonard on Feb. 24, 1911. She and B.E. Denton Sr. were married Sept. 13, 1930 in Durant, Okla.

Mrs. Denton was a retired teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Garland and was a member of many organizations.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, B.E. Denton Jr. and Ann Denton of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Vic Sartoris of Garland; a sister, Mary Frances Purfurst of Houston; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 31, 1991, and six brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers are Lance Denton, Jason Denton, Vic Sartoris III, Guy Walker, Thomas Paul Jenkins and Earl Ragan Jr.

Ella Griggs

Ella "Hun" Griggs of Greenville died March 7 at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Douglasville at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Jessie Kinchen officiating. Burial is in Spring Hill Cemetery.

She was born in Douglasville on Sept. 25, 1910 to Joe B. and Merdis Richardson. She and Henry Griggs were married in Cass County. A homemaker, she was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, R.S. Griggs of Greenville, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. James Rampy

McKINNEY - Rev. James Marvin Rampy, 89, died Sunday after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valdasta Baptist Church. Graveside services are at Stony Point Cemetery.

Born in Nevada on Jan. 23, 1909, he was the son of Rev. James Robert Rampy and Lillian Octavine Currin. He was a longtime employee at the Adams Hat Factory and Goodwill Industries of Dallas. While at Goodwill Industries he acted as transportation manager and general manager of their stores in Greenville and McKinney.

He was first called to the ministry in 1929 but did not enter it until 1952. Over a career lasting 45 years he was pastor of Penile Baptist Church of Greenville, Honey Creek Baptist Church and Valdasta Baptist Church, where his father was also a pastor. He participated in numerous citywide crusades and rallies and led Bible studies and worship services at People's Nursing Home.

Survivors include brothers and sisters C.W. Rampy of Lewisville, Onyta Wilcoxson of Denton and Ruth Jenkins of San Antonio; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 60 years, Louise Rampy; a son, Jerry W. Rampy and a sister, Sarah Hendricks.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Belew Funeral Home of McKinney.
