Violet Ice
COMMERCE - Violet Vada Ice, 94, of Commerce died Friday. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pemberton Funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Tollison officiating. Burial is in Rosemound Cemetery.
The daughter of Henry C. Gill and Bethany Francina Wooster, she was born in Point on Feb. 23, 1904. She married Herbert V. Ice on Nov. 15, 1924 in Saint Jo.
Mrs. Ice moved to Commerce in 1956. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce.
Surviving are a daughter, Lura Dean and husband Charles of Commerce; two grandchildren, Don Hildebrand of Rockwall and Suzanne Newsom of Jasper; three great-grandchildren, Michelle Rector and James Hildebrand of Commerce and David Newsom of Jasper; and a great-great-grandchild, Whitney Rector of Commerce.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 15, 1991 and one brother, Raymond Gill.
Pallbearers are Danny Newsom, David Newsom, James Hildebrand, Dan Hildebrand, Wilson Weems, Dennis Anderson and Otis Horton.
Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
John Roderick
LADONIA -Funeral services for John Paul Roderick of Ladonia are at 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Ladonia. Bob Posey will officiate. Burial is in the Pecan Gap Cemetery.
He died Thursday at the Oak Manor Nursing Home in Commerce.
He was born June 6, 1921 in Delta County and was the son of John Roby Roderick and Lizzie Hemphill Roderick. He was a farmer and a mechanic who lived in the Ladonia area all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the D.A.V and V.F.W.
He married Imogene Honeycutt on June 5, 1943.
Surviving are his wife of Ladonia; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Roderick of Josephine; a sister, Cora Taylor of Roswell, N.M. and two grandchildren, Jana Roderick of Dallas and Scott Roderick of Carrollton.

Welton Walker
GARLAND - Welton Presley Walker, 84, a 19-year resident of Garland, died Friday at his residence. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Broadway Church of Christ in Garland with Jesse Beeson, Ken Hope and Jim Corner officiating. Burial is in Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington.
He was born Aug. 16, 1913 in Celeste. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. Walker retired from LTV Aircraft as a sheet metal worker after 22 years' service. He was a member of Broadway Church of Christ in Garland.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Walker of Garland; a son, Bill Walker of White Settlement; stepson, Earnest Roy of Garland; three daughters Linda Corner of Garland, Bettie Wyrick of Nevada and Ellen Wheatley of Quinlan; two brothers, Hillard Walker of Sherman and Lloyd Walker of Houston; three sisters, Velva Rouser of White Settlement, Flossie Fox and Elsie Perry, both of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Johnnie Drennon
Johnnie Faye Drennon of Colorado Springs, Colo. died April 17 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Neylandville with Rev. Vernon Minter officiating. Burial is in St. Paul Cemetery.
The daughter of Willie and Martha B. Waters Drennon, she was born March 22, 1934 in Wolfe City. She was a probation officer. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
Survivors include her stepmother, Eola Drennon of Dallas; six aunts, Ruth Waters, Erma J. Waters and Leola Waters, of Greenville, Ella Mae Drennon and Margaret Drennon of Dallas and Seritha Drennon of Fort Worth; an uncle, James Waters of Dallas and two cousins, Robert and Elizabeth Alexander of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Pallbearers are Robert Alexander, Bryant Alexander, Trevin Wilson, Marvin Drennon, Willie Drennon and Clemon Lee.
Samuell Najera
ROYSE CITY - Samuell Ross Najera of Royse City died Wednesday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Mack Scott officiating.
The infant son of Daniel Lee and Carol Renaye Wood Najera was born Wednesday.
Surviving are the parents of Royse City; brother, Daniel Najera Jr. of Royse City; and sister, Maria Najera of Royse City.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rentfrow Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
Patrick Moseley
WOLFE CITY - Patrick Moseley, 20, of Wolfe City died Monday in McKinney from a car accident. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home with Paul Colbert officiating.
Mr. Moseley was born June 30, 1977, in Alpine; the son of Dwayne and Michelle Schlichting Moseley. He was a student.
Surviving are his parents of Wolfe City; brother, Jim Moseley of Lewisville; sister, Kim Smith of Jacksonville, Texas; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Schlichting of Dallas.
John Brown
QUINLAN - John W. Brown, 81, of Mesquite died Tuesday in Terrell. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Ridgeway officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Park, Quinlan.
He was born in Athens and lived in the Mesquite/Rockwall area. Brown served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Ford Motor Co. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, James Brown of Mesquite; two daughters, Johni Briscoe of Rowlett and Shirley Williams of Leesburg; a brother, Bob Brown of Dallas; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Nancy, preceded him in death in 1994.

Billy Eaton
Billy Ray Eaton of Greenville died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
Born Oct. 25, 1940 in Duncan, Okla. he was the son of Ernest Arthur Eaton and Eula Mae Sealey. He and Virginia Faye Coberly were married in Lawton, Okla. on Jan. 9, 1970. He was a construction worker.
He is survived by his wife of Greenville; his mother of Lawton, Okla.; two stepsons, Elmer Lee Hoover of Garland and Ronnie Lee Hoover of Lawton, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Denise Bovard of Baker City, Ore. and Ruby Holley of Lawton, Okla.; two brothers, Dewey Eaton of Pittsburg, Kansas and Mickey Joe Eaton of Lawton, Okla. and two sisters, Sharon Brinlee of Wilson, Okla. and Carrol Henderson of Cushing, Okla.
His father preceded him in death.

Helen Holbrook
Helen E. Holbrook, 75, of Greenville died Tuesday in Garland Community Hospital. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at R.W. & Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Gordon Grammer officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Holbrook was born Feb. 23, 1923, in the Turkey Creek community to Fred and Erma Tucker Kelley. She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Greenville.
Surviving are a son, Grady Holbrook of Bridgeport; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Gladys Cranford of Morton; and five brothers, Al Kelley of Mesquite, Ebert Kelley of Amherst, Troy Kelley of Greenville, Truman Kelley of Beaumont, and Travis Kelley of Morton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Holbrook.
Pallbearers are Cody Stewart, Tot Robinson, Glen Gilmore, Duane Nicholson, Robert Briscoe and Ray Malone.

Timothy Lake
DALLAS - Timothy J. Lake, 42, of Dallas died April 10. There will be a service at 12 noon today at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas.
He was born Aug. 13, 1955 in Dallas, son of Jack Lake and Lola Darlene Meyer. Lake served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a restaurant manager.
Survivors include his mother; two brothers, Larry Lake and Rex Connally and a sister, D.J. Linton.

Amber Smith-Compton
Amber Dee Smith-Compton of Greenville, formerly of Dallas, died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at North Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
She was born March 6, 1907 in Tupelo, Miss., the daughter of Nathaniel Luke Morgan and Martha Faytina Thornton. She married Henry A. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1963; she then married Vernon Compton in Greenville. She was a retired presser for a clothing company.
Mrs. Smith-Compton was a member of North Baptist Church, a member of Eastern Star, and was a Pink Lady for several Dallas hospitals.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Compton of Greenville; a niece, Martha Lynn Fugitt-Hampton of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Smith of Dallas; two step-sons, James Compton of Lake Palestine and David Compton of Greenville; a step-daughter, Mary Thornton of Wolfe City; three sisters, Exie Fugitt of Greenville, Sedera London of Dallas, and Phatina McCullough of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and one infant sister.
Pallbearers are John L. Benesch, Todd Carpenter, Randy Smith, Charles William Fugitt, David Compton, and Kenneth Compton.

CADDO MILLS - Jettie Mae Farr, 84, of Caddo Mills died Saturday at her residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Rentfrow Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Priest officiating. Burial is in the Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
She was born May 14, 1913 in Greenville, the daughter of Steve Harvey Adams and Fannie White Adams. She was married first to Harland Norris, and then to Raymond Farr.
Survivors include two nieces, Beverly McDaniel and Nell Morris.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; brothers Luther Adams, James Adams, Albert Adams and Ernest Adams; and a sister, Lillian Newvillage.
Pallbearers are Adrain Tate, Jamey Rentfrow, James Rentfrow, Jimmy Rentfrow, Don Earl Williams and Rowdy Payne.
Frances Hart
Frances Hope Hart, 80, of Greenville died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Reagan officiating. Burial is in Wieland Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 5, 1917 in Alba, daughter of George and Flora Belle Cantrell Hazelwood. She and Lee Coleman Hart were married Oct. 3, 1937 in Hunt County. She was a retired inspector with Shirey Manufacturing. Mrs. Hart was a Methodist.
Survivors include two sons, George Hart of Quinlan and Jimmy Hart of Greenville; a daughter, Pamela Tippett of Grand Prairie; a brother, Roscoe Bob Hazelwood of Balch Springs; six sisters, Bernice Hogue of Edgewood, Georgia Belle Morgan of Wills Point, Betty Jean Miller of Quitman, Lamona Tippett of Arlington, Virginia Ruth Sanders of Greenville and Margie Ann Goin of Carrollton; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 26, 1992; two brothers, Frank Hazelwood and Billy Hazelwood and a sister, Clara Lee Pennington of DeSoto.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Gladys Hudson
Gladys Lorene Hudson of Rockwall died Thursday at Rockwall Nursing Center. There is a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Swisher Cemetery at Lake Dallas with Mike Davis officiating.
Born in Denton County on Oct. 12, 1909, she was the daughter of Alfred and Ada Hickman Shahan. She married Clark Gipson Hudson on Oct. 17, 1925 in Ada, Okla. Mrs. Hudson was a housewife. She was a member of Dixon Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Donald Hudson of Granbury; two daughters, Dorothy Tallant of Shamrock and Jean Cammack of Dallas; Lawrence Shahan of Lancaster, Glen Shahan of Topeka, Kans., Cecil Shahan of Sedalia, Mo. and Kenneth Shahan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Edna Prewitt of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Marie Welke of Fairfield, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Louise Lay; a brother, Alfred Shahan and two sisters, Mildred Brents and Juanitta Sansom.
