Hollis Brooks

QUINLAN - Hollis Lee Brooks, 51, of Quinlan died Wednesday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Arbala Cemetery.

He was born April 24, 1947 in Mesquite to Buster and Maggie Morris Brooks.

Surviving are a son, Johnny Brooks; three daughters, Peggy Brooks, Jenny Brooks and Ninta Brooks; two brothers, Johnny Brooks and Timmy Brooks; two sisters, Rose Roe and Peggie Butler and three grandchildren.

E.H. Luckett

EMORY - E.H. "L" Luckett, 78, of Emory died Thursday at his home. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. today at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Burial is in Smyrna Cemetery.

He was born in Emory on Oct. 3, 1919 to George W. and Florence Woodson Luckett. He and Elbertene Wade Luckett were married on Nov. 1, 1941. He was a rancher and was employed by Ivan Alexander. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of Emory; two sons, Wayne and Ronnie Luckett, both of Emory; two brothers, G.W. Luckett of Canton and Clifford Luckett of Emory; three sisters, Mattie Ivie of Emory, Dollie Trimble of Emory and Betty F. Black of California; 8 grandchildren and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Ivan Alexander, Bobby Kile, Larry Reed, Don McLeroy, Doug McClister, and Winston Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Potts, Mike Lanham, Don Valentine, Jim Mac Taylor, Lee Holt, A.R. Peal and A.C. Lawson.

Dalton Pearce

Dalton W. Pearce, 86, of Celeste, died Thursday at Leonard Nursing Home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Ralson officiating and assisted by Rev. Bob Layman. Burial is in the Celeste Cemetery.

The son of George Pearce, he was born in Hunt County on Dec. 24, 1911. He married Muriel Hackney on May 23, 1959 in Durant, Okla.

Mr. Pearce retired from the Greenville Independent School District in 1972 after 17 1/2 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste.

He is survived by his wife of Celeste; two sons, Frank Pearce of Dallas and Don Pearce of Hawaii; a daughter, Doris Jean Glasscock of Lewisville; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Pallbearers are Gene Martin, Jimmy Hackney, Lance Hackney, Gerald Williams, Jimmie Williams and Aron Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Hackney, Bo Lipsey, Guy Atherton, Ray Little and Guy Shields.

Annelle Blakemore

SANTA FE, N.M. - Annelle Frazier Blakemore, 80, of Santa Fe, N.M., formerly of Farmersville, died Sunday at the Casa Real Health Care Center in Santa Fe. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene.

She was born Feb. 27, 1918 in Farmersville. She and her twin sister were on a radio show on KGVL in Greenville in their teens. On. Aug. 30, 1941 she married William "Bill" Saunders Blakemore Jr.

She has lived in Los Angeles, Calif.; Odessa, Fort Worth and Santa Fe. She worked as a bookkeeper. She was a Baptist and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She is survived by twin sister Gaynelle Lipscomb of Greenville; a daughter, Sally Blakemore; a son, Paul Blakemore and three grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1983.

Hollis Brooks

James W. James

BLUE RIDGE - James Wilson James, 76, of Blue Ridge died Wednesday at Columbia Medical Center in Plano. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Blue Ridge Church of Christ with Mac LeFan officiating. Burial is in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 7, 1921 in Blue Ridge, son of Jerry A. and Dassie Wilson James. He married Adla Maynor James on Aug. 10, 1941 in Dallas. Mr. James worked for TU Electric. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife of Blue Ridge; a son, Gary James of Richardson; a sister, Isla Faye George of Dallas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.

Harriet Rubarts

LEONARD - Funeral services for Harriet Cunningham Rubarts, 97, of Greenville, formerly of Celeste, are at 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Celeste with Rev. James Ralson officiating. Burial is in the Fairview Cemetery at Savoy.

She died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

Born Nov. 3, 1900 in Kemp, Okla., she was the daughter of John Cunningham and Harriet Davidson Cunningham. She married Carl Rubarts on April 22, 1921. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1950; one daughter and two sons.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Buford Rubarts, Roy Don Rubarts, James Wallace, Delton Rubarts, Dennis Russell and Mike Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Jenkins, Buz Caldwell and John McCollum.

Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.

William Wood Jr.

FARMERSVILLE - William Gaston Wood Jr., 66, of Bedford died at his residence Wednesday. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville with Rev. Bill Fowlkes officiating. Burial is in Thompson Cemetery in Copeville.

He was born in Copeville on April 16, 1932 to William and Lois Craft Wood. He married Penny Koepp on June 21, 1969 in San Antonio. He served as a Marine, First Lieutenant, in the Korean War.

Mr. Wood was a graduate of North Texas State University in Denton. He was a purchaser for Bell Helicopter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Copeville.

Surviving are his wife of Bedford; two daughters, Lois Marie Holder of Haltom City and Christie Burton of Carrollton; his mother of Copeville; a sister Billie L. Wood Ficke of Dallas and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas William Wood.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Shirley Kelly

Shirley Ann Kelly of Greenville died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are today at 10 a.m. at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Riley Hamilton officiating. There is a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Clarksville.

Daughter of Joe Johnson and Ollie Hoover Johnson, she was born Aug. 2, 1937 in Red River County. She married V.A. Kelly on June 4, 1955 in Avery. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Survivors include her father of Clarksville; a son, James Kelly of Greenville; a brother, Leonard Johnson of Paris; one grandchild; three stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, her mother and an infant son.

Pallbearers will be Dale Tilley, Brian Graves, Glen Braswell, Rodney Blount, Chris Saunders and Clay Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Kelly, Oneal Davis, John McKenzie, Robert Wade, W.A. Craig and Alton Harber.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, or Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary McCullough

LAKE WORTH - Mary Helen McCullough, 84, of Fort Worth died Tuesday in Huguley Nursing Center. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at 3:30 p.m. at McWright Cemetery in Greenville.

Mrs. McCullough was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Rowlett. She lived in the Fort Worth area since 1962.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Rebekah and Jim Mercer of Fort Worth, and Linda and Tommy Bakewr of Frost; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Betty McCullough of Weatherford, Mike and Mary McCullough of Fort Worth and John McCullough of Fort Worth; several grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert McCullough, in 1959.

Henry Price

QUINLAN - Henry Newton Price, 62, of Quinlan died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at the Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home with Rev. Sidney Stone officiating. Burial is in Paterson Cemetery in Emhouse.

The son of Garvin and Lucile Mimms Price, he was born July 31, 1935 in Snyder. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Trinity Industries in Dallas. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Quinlan.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel F. Price of Quinlan; a son, Ricky N. Price of Alma, Ark.; a daughter, Onda Sue Brown of Quinlan; a brother, Melvin Price of Quinlan; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harriet Rubarts

LEONARD - Funeral services for Harriet Cunningham Rubarts, 97, of Greenville, formerly of Celeste, are at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Celeste with Rev. James Ralson officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Savoy.

She died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

Born Nov. 3, 1900 in Kemp, Okla., she was the daughter of John Cunningham and Harriet Davidson Cunningham. She married Carl Roberts on April 22, 1921. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1950; one daughter and two sons.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Buford Rubarts, Roy Don Rubarts, James Wallace, Delton Rubarts, Dennis Russell and Mike Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Jenkins, Buz Caldwell and John McCollum.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard.

Louise Seals

WOLFE CITY - Mary Louise Seals, 67, of Celeste died Tuesday at Smith Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Services are at the First Baptist Church in Celeste Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Ralston and Rev. Jason Cruise officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery near Greenville.

She was born July 6, 1930 in Wolfe City, daughter of Robert T. and Lillian Smithers Luttrull. She married Billy Joe Milner on May 26, 1948 in Hunt County; he preceded her in death in 1966. She married Arthur Seals in 1969 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She retired from the Celeste Independent School District.

Survivors include two sons, Jackie Milner of Wolfe City and Roger Seals of Celeste; three daughters, Annie Tipps and Elaine Smith, both of Greenville and Diane Milner of Wolfe City; her mother, of Wolfe City; two brothers, James Luttrull of Blooming Grove and Bobby Luttrull of Sachse; a sister, Linda Putman of Wolfe City; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Scott Black, Randy Black, Peter Black, Tony Warren, Randal Williams Jr. and B.J. Milner are pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Celeste.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City.

Walter Docker

LONE OAK - Walter F. Docker, 57, of Lone Oak died at his residence Tuesday after a long illness. Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. James M. Reese officiating.

He was born March 26, 1941 in Santa Barbara, Calif. to Walter H. and Ada K. Gross Docker. He married Michal Reese in Santa Barbara on Sept. 29, 1962. He was an electrical motorman and resided in Santa Barbara, Calif. for 42 years before moving to Lone Oak 15 years ago.

Surviving are his wife; parents of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter Wendy Michelle Docker of Lubbock; a brother, John Henry Docker of Santa Barbara and a grandson.

Visitation is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Bartley Funeral Home in Lone Oak.

Edna Keeble

COMMERCE - Edna Boone Keeble, 90, of Commerce died Tuesday. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Lam officiating. Burial is in Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.

She was born Dec. 3, 1907 in Fairlie, daughter of Tom Slaven and Belle Slaven. She and James T. Keeble were married on Feb. 13, 1932.

She earned her bachelor and master degrees from East Texas State University and taught for 40 years in Texas public schools. She retired from the Campbell Independent School District in 1969. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Commerce and she was a member of the national and local Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include cousins Dorothy and Bill Moore of Garland and Deweese and Laura Dee Lindley of Farmington, N.M. and nieces and nephews Jerry and Theta Keeble of Houston, Judy and Dennis Burns of Garland, Donna Henderson of Lewisville and Jimmie Joyce Bosly of Forney.

Her husband preceded her in death on March 9, 1970.

Pallbearers are Tony D. Keeble, Dennis Burns, Billy Julian, George Robinson, Joe Fred Cox and Harold Murphy. Julian Harvey, Winfred Dyer, Jimmy Sullivan and John McQuary are honorary pallbearers.

Ella Thornton

Ella V. Thornton, 82, of Lone Oak died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Lone Oak with Rev. Jacqueline Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery.

The daughter of Ed Thornton and Rebecca Miller Thornton, she was born in Lone Oak on Oct. 7, 1915. She retired from the cutting department of Henson-Kickernick. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lone Oak.

Surviving are nieces Patsy Regan of Lone Oak, Lorene Davis of Garland, Patsy Kenney of Paducah, Wanda Smith of Lubbock and Louise Helget of California and nephews Billie Wilson of Farmers Branch, Gene Walsh of Arizona, Dean Walsh of Oregon and Larry Wilson of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Great nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Mary Seals

WOLFE CITY - Mary Louise Seals, 67, of Celeste died Tuesday at Smith Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Services are at the First Baptist Church in Celeste Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Ralston and Rev. Jason Cruise officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery near Greenville.

Edward Toles

EMORY - Edward F. Toles, 87, of Emory died Monday at a Veterans Hospital. Funeral services will be at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory at 1 p.m. Thursday with Rev. C. B. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Daugherty Cemetery.

Born Nov. 26, 1910 in Rains County, he was the son of Edd and Lena Ward Toles. He married Ann McNeill on Sept. 7, 1985 in Emory. He serviced in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a rancher and a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of Emory and nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sherman Childres

Services for Sherman Warren Childres, 84, of Kingwood, are at 3 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Vowell officiating. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery. He died Friday at his residence.

Born in Van on Oct. 11, 1913, he was the son of Samuel Childres and Annie Dunkin Childres. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force, was a Latin teacher and was later self-employed as the owner of Childres Laboratories, an Aptitude Measurement firm. He was a Methodist.

He is survived by his son, John Charles Childres of Kingwood; a daughter, Mary Ann Childres of San Francisco, Calif. and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn Ross Childres and Gerald Don Childres; a sister, Edris Elliott and his second wife, Mary Byrd Childres, formerly of Greenville.
