COMMERCE - Rosary and Christian Burial services for Gaylen Jones, 41, of Commerce, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel in Rowlett with Rev. Stanley D. Corcoran officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. She died Friday at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas.
Born on Oct. 23, 1956, she was the daughter of Charles Jones and Dorothy Jones. She was a graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce where she earned a B.S. in Computer Science in 1980 and a M. Ed. in 1983. She had been enrolled at the university working on a degree in health and nutrition. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Commerce.
She is survived by her father, Charles Jones of Commerce; her sister, Anita Williams and a niece, Lacy, both of Cumby. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and Monday at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Garland.
Mildred McAnally
KLONDIKE - Services for Mildred Madeline McAnally, 82, of Klondike, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Guille and Rev. James Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Klondike. She died Friday in Klondike.
Born in Delta County on May 8, 1916, she was the daughter of Louis Robertson and Ella Nelson. She married Emmett O. McAnally in Hugo, Okla. in November of 1980.
She attended Cooper High School, received Bachelors and Masters of Education degrees from East Texas State University in 1953, taught first grade in Commerce and was a member of the Klondike Baptist Church and the Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Christa McCormack of Greenville and Amanda Seigler of Commerce; two grandsons Tom Harvey of Houston and Jim Harvey of Richardson and two great-grandchildren, Alex McCormack and Ian McCormack.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Clyde Heflin in 1973 and Emmett McAnally in 1992; one daughter, Mary Jane Seigler; one son, Mike Heflin and one grandson, Samuel Seigler.
Pallbearers include Jim Harvey, Gill Seigler, John McCormack, Gaston Dodd, Tom Harvey and David McAnally.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Mae Tingle of Celeste; three sons, Melvin Hartwell Smith of Lucas, "Mouse" Smith of Celeste and Herman F. Smith of Maud; two sisters, Marie Barnes of Kemp and Shirley Kissner of Bedford; three brothers, Walter M. White of Arlington, Jerry W. White of Waxahachie and Monte D. Thelma Benson
COMMERCE - Thelma Jo Benson, 62, of Atlanta died Thursday. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brigham Cemetery in Campbell with Rev. Ervin Cook officiating.
Born in Kilgore on April 5, 1936, she was the daughter of Walter Scarbrough and Erma Hannon. She attended Jefferson High School. She married Hugh Benson in 1951 in Jefferson. Mrs. Benson moved from Commerce to Atlanta in 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Lillian Anderson of Atlanta; two sons, Dennis Benson and Lonnie Benson, both of Greenville; three brothers, Charlie Scarbrough of Nash, Willis Scarbrough of McLeod and Adrain Scarbrough of Quinlan; four sisters, Louise Bartlett of Henderson, Alice Benson of Atlanta, Virginia Wood of Florida and Alma Bonner of Quinlan; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister, Lois Terry.

Dr. Herman Benthul
MINEOLA- Dr. Herman Benthul, 86, of Golden died Friday in a Tyler hospital. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Golden United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Stull and Dr. David Meadows officiating. Burial is in the Golden Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 22, 1911 in Celeste. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from East Texas State University, a master's degree from Southern Methodist University and a doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Texas, with post doctoral work at Columbia University in New York.
Dr. Benthul served as teacher and administrator in schools of Wood, Hill, Smith and Dallas Counties. In the Dallas Independent School District he served as a principal, instructional consultant and assistant superintendent for curriculum development. He was also Adjunct Professor at East Texas State University, doing research and writing while residing in Golden.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, former board member of the American Cancer Society, Hope Cottage and Executive Committee of the Dallas Health and Science Museum. He was a member of Golden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Taylor and Joyce Terrell, both of Golden; a brother, Clyde Benthul of Mineola; nine grandchildren and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Benthul on Oct. 31, 1988.
Pallbearers are Jay Barney Terrell III, Michael Forrest Terrell, John Christopher Terrell, Kevin David Taylor, George Harold Taylor Jr., Paul Edward Abrams, Craig Musgraves and Tony Pegues.

Mr. Maranda was born Feb. 5, 1961, in Mobile, Ala., the son of Marcel and Gloria Barron Maranda. He worked for the Albert P. Brewer Company.
Surviving are his parents; brothers, Gene Maranda and Morgan Maranda, both of Rockwall; and sister, Jeri Ward of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Yvonne Maranda.
Nolan McCannon
Nolan Major McCannon, 62, of Greenville died Friday at his residence. There is a graveside service at 2 p.m. today at Gaffords Chapel Cemetery near Sulphur Springs with Rev. Chris Ruwaldt officiating.
The son of Walter A. McCannon and Emily Ann Elkins McCannon, he was born Nov. 2, 1935 in Carthage. He married Wilma Rogers on May 8, 1989 in Pittsburg. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. McCannon was a truck driver. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pittsburg.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; three daughters, LaNea Hebert of Nueva, Calif., Barbara Calderine of Nueva, Calif. and Mary Jane Roeka of Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Opal McCannon of Greenville, Mable Applegate of Alba and Maurine Blythe of Ore City; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony McCannon; five brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers will be Rick Morgan, David McDowell John Tandy Jr., John Tandy Sr., Steve Webb and Steve Gilchrist.

McKINNEY - Amy Lynne Montgomery, 35, of McKinney died Thursday at Medical City in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Fairview with Rev. John Mark Caton officiating. Burial is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville.
She was born May 2, 1963 in McKinney, the daughter of Edgar S. Johnson and Glenda Miller Johnson. She married Brad Montgomery on May 13, 1991 in McKinney. She was owner of A New Look in McKinney. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairview.
Mrs. Montgomery was a member of the American Leukemia Society and participated in the "Walk of Life" in Anchorage, Ak. in 1997, completing the 26.2-mile walk in six hours and raising approximately $5,000 in contributions. She was to have been a coach this year.
Survivors include her husband of McKinney; three sons, Samuel Collin Montgomery of McKinney, Wesley Ryan Montgomery of Allen and Jonathan Montgomery of Allen; her parents of Farmersville; grandmother Mary Johnson of Farmersville; grandparents Glen and Louise Miller of Melissa; two brothers, Andy Glen Johnson of Plano and Jim Ed Johnson of Princeton; father-in-law and mother-in-law Dale and Vera Montgomery of Prosper; brothers-in-law Todo Montgomery and Scott Montgomery, both of McKinney and numerous others.

He was born March 6, 1918 in Nevada, son of Albert and Mary Mayo. He married Tessie F. Manasco on May 20, 1944. He was a railroad supervisor and was a member of the Copeville Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Rich of Nevada and Dianna Lynn Bright of Copeville; two sons, Don Wayne Mayo of Sachse and James Walter Mayo of Copeville; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Yvonne Tidwell May of Dallas; two brothers, Bobby Williams and Paul Omega Williams, both of Princeton and a sister, Jean Ernst of Seguin.

Mrs. Ball was born in Lamar County, the daughter of James B. and Julia Pirkle Smith. She was married to L.D. Ball in 1926 in Roxton.
She attended Howard Payne University and Southwestern Theological Seminary. A Sunday School teacher for many years, Mrs. Ball was a teacher of W.M.U. and the James Bible Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo and was formerly a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville.
Surviving are daughters, Bonnie Louise O'Brien of Amarillo, Kathleen Williams of Celeste and Jeanie Miley of Houston; a brother, Herman Smith of Odessa; a sister, Nora Beaver of Denton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Victor Sellars
EMORY - Victor Carol Gene Sellars died at his home in the Hogansville Community of Rains County Saturday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory with Rev. Jed Hampton officiating. Masonic graveside services are at Smyrna Cemetery.
He was born in Dallas on Nov. 30, 1929 to Rodney and Vera Sellers; he was a twin. He graduated from Carlisle High School, where he was a state contender in tennis. He was also an accomplished musician.
He married Barbara Jean Brown, Cotton Bowl Queen of 1954, on Aug. 28, 1954 in Waxahachie. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration on Aug. 13, 1958. He received a law degree from Baylor University in 1961 and a Juris Doctor of Law from Baylor University on May 13, 1969.
He practiced private law in Dallas, was Regional Counsel for Fannie Mae and was currently serving as County Attorney of Rains County. He served in the U.S. Air Force and flew F-80 recognizance flights over North Korea. He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Sellars was a member and Past Master of Yantis Masonic Lodge 382 A.F.A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Texas, member of the Sulphur Springs Chapter 63 Royal Arch Masons, Sulphur Springs Council 44, Royal and Select Masters and Knight Templar of Tyler Commandery, Hella Temple Shrine, and a charter member of Yantis Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife; a son Glenn S. Sellars; two brothers, Dr. Rodney Sellars of Caldwell and Dr. William Sellars of Dallas; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother.
Pallbearers are Buddy Isbell, Wendell Johnson, Marty Nolen, Mike Fuller, Billy Adair and L.M. Braziel.

Born in Rockwall on Sept. 13, 1913, she was the daughter of Gus and Beulah Sheppard Moton. She married Earl Buster Sherman in 1930 in Greenville. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Sherman was a member of Center Point Christian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip Sherman of Sulphur Springs and Don Sherman of Greenville; a brother, Morris Moton of Greenville; a sister, Mable Hurdle of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Copeville; the daughter of Oscar and Julia McSapdden Denton. She was married to James McDaniel in 1939 in Farmersville, then Darcel Cummings in 1957 in Rockwall. She was employed in the housekeeping department of Varo Corporation of Garland. She was a Baptist.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Estrada and Darlene Jones, both of Garland; son, Dwain McDaniel of Medford; sisters, Bobbie Mayhew of Duncanville and Mildred McCormick of Oak Cliff; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
