Minnie Robnett

WOLFE CITY - Minnie Leggett Robnett, 86, of Wolfe City died Wednesday at her residence. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Marck Gibson and Rev. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Mrs. Robnett was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Paris, Texas; the daughter of Daniel W. and Emma Williams Leggett. She was married to Tom Johnson in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1954. She was then married to Tom Robnett in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1985.

Mrs. Robnett was a retired public school teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sisters, Clara Wasson of Longview, and Opal Hampton and Mary West, both of Wolfe City; and two step-daughters, Carolyn Pinckard of Fort Worth and Beverly Brand of Lake Charles, La.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Pallbearers are James Wasson, Charles Wasson, Ricky London, Tim London, Billy West and Danny Leggett.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Icy White

Icy Alexander White of Greenville died at her residence Wednesday. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Avon Chandler officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery.

The daughter of Will Alexander and Rena Wilkerson, she was born Aug. 8, 1904 in Hunt County. She married Shelby White on Nov. 9, 1925 in Hunt County. She was a housewife.

Mrs. White was a charter member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. She later became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Surviving are nieces Janell Schwartz of Frisco, Sonya Hoffman of Whitewright and Marda Keith of Temple and special friends Avon and Bettye Chandler, M.L. and Peggy Travis and Rush and Winnie Mae Steen, all of Greenville and Sam and Lorene Denney of Amarillo.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 19, 1989; three brothers, Dalry, Dave and Leon Alexander and one sister, Katie Mae Alexander.

Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers are Bill Terrell, Oran Alexander Jr., Keith Bearden, John Wells, Jack Wallace and Bob Greaves. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Mathews, Rush Steen, M.L. Travis, Charles Dean, Sam Denney and Gordon Etheridge.

Pauline Coker

QUINLAN - Pauline Coker, 81, of Greenville died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Graveside services are at 10 a.m. today at Wieland Cemetery with Don Ridgeway officiating.

She was born June 3, 1917 in Minden, La. She was a member of Eastern Star.

Surviving are a son, Bill Bobo; a daughter, Louretta Rich; two sisters, Lois Underwood and Mary Mack; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Edmonson

SULPHUR SPRINGS - There is a graveside service at 10 a.m. today at North Hopkins Cemetery for Billy G. Edmonson, 68, of Sulphur Springs. Rev. Don Shaw will officiate.

He died Monday at his residence.

Born April 5, 1930 in Hopkins County, he was the son of Johnie Edmonson and Nona Radican Edmonson. He married Mary Helton on Jan. 3, 1953 in Dallas. Mr. Edmonson was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors include his wife of Sulphur Springs; sons Billy Don Edmonson of Tira and Joe Dan Edmonson of Sulphur Springs; daughters Sharon Davis of Fruitvale and Glenda Morrison of Tira; sisters, Jean Johnson of Houston and Hazel Glossup of Sulphur Springs; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of arrangements.

Elise Goodman

Elise Goodman, 71, of Greenville died Sunday at her residence. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Shaddox officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

The daughter of Alex Steffen and Gertrude Meyer, she was born Nov. 30, 1926 in Luxemburg, Germany. She and Cecil Goodman were married in 1954 in Olzhiem, Germany. Mrs. Goodman was a housewife and a Catholic.

She is survived by a son, Billy Goodman of Greenville; a daughter, Rose Marie Morris of Dallas; sisters Agatha Meyer, Anne Kumple and Marie Havenith, all of Germany and Rosy Very of Rhode Island and a grandson, Alex Morris of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 20, 1979; a son, Robert A. Goodman on May 22, 1977 and her parents.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ara Newland

COMMERCE - Ara Irene Land Weatherbee Newland, 91, of Commerce died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Tollison officiating. Burial is in Rosemound Cemetery.

She was born in Lindale on Dec. 24, 1906 to Ellis Land and Jodie Goodman Land. She was a housewife. Mrs. Newland was a member of College Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, George E. Weatherbee of Commerce; a daughter, Rita Weatherbee Robnett of Commerce; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, H.M. Weatherbee and Bill Newland; seven sisters, two brothers and a son, Ellis Weatherbee.

Jack Perkins

Funeral services for Jack Edward Perkins, 56, of Greenville are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott McManus officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

He died Monday at Medical Center of Plano.

Son of H.E. Perkins and Omie Gregg, he was born April 10, 1942 in Jacksonville. He married Nancy Garrett on Jan. 1, 1993 in Greenville. Mr. Perkins was a truck driver with North Texas Wholesale. He was a Pentecostal.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; stepmother, Minnie Lou Perkins of Diana; two sons, Frank Baker of Forney and James Merritt of Canton; a stepson, Jeremy East of Greenville; a daughter, Patty Carter of Grand Saline; a stepdaughter, Manya Hackney of Mesquite; three brothers, a sister and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and several brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers are Frank Baker, James Merritt, Roger Carter, Casey Carter, Rick Robbins and Don Garrett.

Bob Hames

WOLFE CITY - Services for Robert Earl "Bob" Hames, 78, of Wolfe City, are at 10 a.m. today at R. W. Owens & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eldon Chester officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. He died Sunday at his home.

Born in Wolfe City on Jan. 22, 1920, he was the son of Joseph Irl Hames and Jessie Lynn Kiser Hames. He graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1937 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force in World War II.

He received a bachelors degree from North Texas State University in 1951, where he played for the "Aces of Collegeland" which is now known as the "One O'Clock Lab Band". He also played for various well-known bands of the era such as Stan Keller and Jan Garber.

Hames was also staff guitarist for live productions at WFAA Television in the early 1950s and at one time was rated as one of the Top Ten Jazz Guitarists in the United States by Downbeat magazine.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wolfe City. He also worked for Texas Tag after returning to Wolfe City in 1957

He married Billye Mildred Goin, who preceded him in death in 1972 and later married Helen Juanita Ballard, who preceded him in death in 1993.

He is survived by one son, Dr. Bobby Hames of Fort Worth; one stepson, Joe Hodge of Wolfe City; three stepdaughters, Claudia Fulbright of Tool, Judy Matthijetd of Forney and Patty Hodge of Dallas; one sister, Mary Ann Lloyd of Greenville; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe Ray Hames.

Pallbearers are Don Monroe, Leonard Stanley, Ken Ballard, Steve Stidham, Brian Casey Boggs and Roy Boggs. Honorary pallbearers are Hal Mullins and David Manley.

Charlene Nelson

Services for Charlene Nelson, 63, of Greenville, are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Price Temple Church of God in Christ with Rev. Russell Willis officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park. She died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

Born in Greenville on June 14, 1935, she was the daughter of V. L. and Carrie Mae Scott Jones. She married Willie Ray Nelson in Greenville on May 19, 1957. She was a food packer and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Willie Ray Nelson of Greenville; seven sons, Johnny Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Edward Nelson, Donald Nelson and Joseph Nelson, all of Greenville, Willie Lee Nelson of Dallas and Charles Nelson of Farmersville; three daughters, Gloria Riley, Barbara Nelson and Felicia Wallick, all of Greenville; one brother, Rickie A,. Jones of Dallas; three sisters, Bobbie Hughes of Sherman and Gurtie Jones and Gloria Powers, both of Garland; and 27 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.

Pallbearers are Alton Nelson, Otis Holiness, Anthony Rollinson, Tony Nelson, Robert Clark and Larry Clark.

Visitation is from 7 until 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

John Raney

LADONIA - Services for John Franklin Raney, 51, of Ladonia, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church of Ladonia with Rev. Sam Bush officiating. Burial will be in the Ladonia Cemetery. He died Sunday in a Dallas hospital.

Born in Bonham on Feb. 8, 1947, he was the son of Franklin Doug Raney and Ruby Campbell Raney. He married Debbie Simmons on Oct. 6, 1970. He was a journeyman plumber and had served in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Raney of Ladonia; his father-and-mother-in-law, Robert and Jo Ann Jones of Mesquite; two daughters, Kim Raney and Kristy Raney, both of Ladonia; and two sisters, Frances Smith of Mesquite and Peggy Ellard of Grand Prairie.

Visitation is from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today at the Delta Funeral Home in Ladonia, which is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley Savage

IRVING- Services for Stanley Weeks Savage, 51, of Irving, are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at R. W. Owens & Son Funeral Chapel in Wolfe City with Dwight Gardner and Rev. Bobby Bryant officiating. Burial is in MountCarmel Cemetery. He died Sunday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs.

Born in Dallas on Oct. 26, 1946, he was the son of Preston Weeks Savage and Esther Lee Swinson Savage. He married Louella Marie Posey in Irving on July 2, 1977. He was a customer service manager for Bank of America and a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Louella Savage of Irving; one daughter, Stephanie Savage of Bedford; one stepdaughter, Karen Lewis of Irving; one stepson, Jack Lewis Jr. of Irving; his mother, Mrs. Esther savage of Wolfe City and two brothers, Gary Savage of Dallas and Van Savage of Belton.

Visitation is from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Doyle Herlocker

Doyle "Granny" Williams Herlocker of San Antonio, formerly of Greenville, died Friday at her home. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Greenville, with Rev. Donald H. Dinwiddie officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

She was born May 3, 1902 in Lumberton, Miss. to Doyle Douglas Dorsey and Jennie Elizabeth Wells. After the death of her father when she was two, she was adopted by her stepfather, James Walton Williams.

She married James Harry Herlocker on July 29, 1929, in Jackson, Miss. Mrs. Herlocker was a member of St. Paul's Church in Greenville for many years before moving to San Antonio in 1981, where she was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by daughters Doyle Herlocker Fugitt of Dallas and Julia Herlocker Gibson Schwartz of Greenville; a son, John Robert Herlocker of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren Eloise Herlocker Mitchell and William Travis Herlocker of Winnsboro, James H. Herlocker III of Mineola, Doyle Douglas Dietz, Julia Dietz Beckel, Jennie Wells Dixson and Katherine Fugit of Dallas, Rebecca Herlocker Hogge, Michael E. Herlocker and Joseph M. Herlocker Jr. of Austin, Laura Elizabeth Herlocker of San Antonio, John Robert Herlocker Jr. of Terrebonne, Ore., James Madison Herlocker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dorsey Herlocker Riddle, Katherine Herlocker Galway and Douglas R.B. Herlocker of Boise, Idaho, Kenneth W. Gibson Jr. of Longview and Harry L. Gibson of Greenville; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Herlocker was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather, two brothers, one sister, as well as her husband, James Harry Herlocker Sr., and two sons, James H. Herlocker Jr. and Joseph Madison Herlocker Sr.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Church in Greenville, St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio or a charity of your choice.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Van Mooneyham

QUINLAN - Van V. Mooneyham, 60, of Quinlan died Friday in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Quinlan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Combs officiating. Burial will be in the Wieland Cemetery.

Mooneyham was born in Calhoun City, Miss., the son of Charlie Van and Mary Weldon Mooneyham. He married Betty Vawter Mooneyham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was a welder and a member of the Quinlan Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mooneyham of Quinlan; a son, Michael L. Mooneyham of Fort Worth; four daughters, Cathy Hite of Richardson, Carla Payne of Quinlan, Crystal Russell of Wolfe City, and Debra Mooneyham of Fort Worth; two sisters, Barbara Ann Wynn of Quinlan and Mary Lavon Ward of Waco; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister Laura Jane Dyer.

Pallbearers are John Moore, Honorary; James Cruise, Ray Blythe, Tommy Payne, Todd Goodwin, Gene Cullum, and J. D. Previtt.

Dusty Williams

Dusty Williams, 17, of Greenville died Friday at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas following an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Riley Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Mr. Williams was born May 18, 1981, in Greenville, the son of Ronnie and Debbie Williams. He was a student at Greenville High School and a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents; his fiancee, Gini Cottrell of Greenville; an infant son; two brothers, Adam Williams and Zach Williams, both of Greenville; a grandmother, Lugene Robertson of Greenville; grandparents Ray and Oudia Bowers of Greenville and Bill and Wanda Nutt of Emory; five aunts, Marilynn Hutto, Dena Nichol, Regina Steinberg, Rexine Mayes, and Aungie Faughtenberry; and a great-aunt, Ann Robertson.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Rex Williams and Reagan Robertson.

Pallbearers are Chris Nichol, Mike Nichol, Jeff Ott, Jonathan Jeter, Bob Neyra, and Garrett Dollgener. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Arp, Chris Little, and Bobby Pickle.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.

Aubrey Campbell

BEAUMONT- Aubrey "Riley" Campbell, 63, of Beaumont died Thursday at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. There will also be a service at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Union Church in Ridgeway followed by burial in Ridgeway Cemetery.

A native of Emblem, he had lived in Beaumont for 44 years. He owned and operated Campbell's Chevron Service Station in Beaumont.

Survivors include his wife, Oretha Haddock Campbell; a son, Dale Campbell of New Braunfels; a daughter, Latresa Bryan of Lake Jackson; a brother, Leland Campbell of Lumberton; sisters, Pauline Jones and Helen Black of Tyler, Melba Adams of Hitchcock, Jo Ann Lindley of Weatherford and Mary Frances Daniels of Sulphur Springs; sisters-in-law Oleta Haddock Arrington and Patricia Haddock Belcher of Commerce and Margreat Haddock Clinton of Cumby and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brad Arrington, Monty Webb, Kenny Shaw, David Belcher, Clarence Clinton and Steve Speight.

Floyd Dickinson Sr.

PRINCETON, ILL. - Floyd W. Dickinson Sr., 87, of Rockford, formerly of Princeton, Ill. and Quinlan, died Friday in Rockford. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton, Ill. with Rev. Fred Meisenheimer officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Ohio, Ill.

He was born April 3, 1911 in Monroe Center, Ill., son of William and Clara Davis Dickinson. He married Alma Hawkins Anderson who died in 1954. He later married Fern Jackson; she preceded him in death in 1998.

He retired as a custodian from the Douglas Elementary School of Princeton. He was an active member of the Wesleyan Church and Men's Club when he lived in Princeton.

Surviving are a son, Floyd W. Dickinson Jr. of Batavia; four stepdaughters, Verna Salazar of LaSalle, Ruth Ramberg of Peru, June Applen of Quinlan and Janet Jones of Wills Point; three stepsons, Laverne Anderson of Princeton, Glenn Anderson of New Bedford and Jerry Jackson of Hendersonville, Tenn.; three sisters, Claribel Dickinson of Rockford, Bernice Duhigg of Davis Junction and Etta Finley of Loves Park; three brothers, Harold Dickinson of Berlin, Wis., Walter Dickinson of Winter Haven, Fla. and Glen Dickinson of Rockford.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Peters and Ruth Grothman; two stepsons and one stepgrandson.

Doyle Herlocker

FARMERSVILLE- Wanda Victoria Mason, 74, of Greenville died Thursday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home, Inc. Chapel with Rev. John Conner officiating. Burial will be in Cooks Falls Cemetery, Cooks Falls, N.Y.

Daughter of Claude and Cora Wormuth Peets, she was born in RockRift, N.Y. She married Vince McUmber who preceded her in death in 1965. She later married Henry Mason who died in 1985. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Thomas of Greenville; sons Claude McUmber of Farmersville and Paul McUmber of Forest City, Pa.; stepson Alvin Meagley of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sisters, Irma Felter of Fisher City, N.Y. and Inda Brush of Monticello, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Lilian Pyles

FARMERSVILLE- Lilian Mary Pyles, 78, of Farmersville died Aug. 28 in Preston, England. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Methodist Church of Farmersville with Rev. Doyle Henderson and Jim Highsmith officiating. Burial will be in Arledge Ridge Cemetery in Bonham.

Born in Bournmeouth, England on Nov. 25, 1919, she was the daughter of John and Emily Louisa Tanner Parkinson. She married Odell Pyles on June 27, 1944 in Preston, England. She worked for Varo Manufacturing in Garland. Mrs. Pyles was a member of First United Methodist Church in Farmersville.

Surviving are daughters Loretta Schultz of Greenville, Rita Adele Pyles of Farmersville and Patricia Michelle "Shelly" Pingsterhaus of Westminister; a son, Floyd Lee Pyles of Ladonia; a sister, Patricia McLeod of Preston, England; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home, Inc. in Farmersville.
