Leon Merritt of Royse City died Tuesday in a Whitewright nursing home. He was 83.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grundy Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Garrison officiating. Burial will be in Grundy Cemetery.
He was born in Idabelle, Okla., on Aug. 17, 1915, to Jesse and Mary Merrit. He married Anita Merritt on Nov. 17, 1977, in Rockwall.
He is survived by his wife; stepsons James Jones of Dallas, Charles Jones of Dallas and Willie Jones of Wylie; stepdaughters Joyce Jones of Dallas and Shirley Brown of Garland and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois Crow
COMMERCE - Lois Crow, 69, of Commerce died at her residence Tuesday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Tollison officiating. Burial is in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Born in Sulphur Springs on Nov. 10, 1928, she was the daughter of Fred Moore and Bertha Woods Moore. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Gene Crow of Commerce; daughters Peggy Sue Crow, Judy Currin and Annie Lois Ybarra of Commerce; sisters Ruby Cooper of Commerce, Julia Flanagan of Peerless and June Jones of Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Pallbearers are Don Talley, Wayland Dickerson, Robert Earl Smith, Mike Ross and Ray Hunter.
Visitation is at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. today.
Frances Lucas
QUINLAN - Frances Mae Lucas, 64, of Greenville died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. There is a graveside service today at 11 a.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Quinlan.
She was born in Quinlan on Nov. 11, 1933. She was retired. Miss Lucas was a Baptist.

Virginia Maddox
LEWISVILLE - Virginia Lee Griffin Maddox, 58, of Lewisville died Tuesday. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at First Assembly of God with Rev. Bennie Grissom and Rev. Carl Lambert officiating. Burial is in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
She was born May 3, 1940 in Southmayde to Alton and Virginia Griffin. Mrs. Maddox was a member of the First Assembly of God in Lewisville and served as pianist and organist for the church.
Survivors include her husband, Archie Maddox; son, Steve Randall Underhill of Henderson; four sisters, Patsey Ann Dotson of Waldon, Ark., Sandra Kay Earle of Campbell, Darlene Williams of Cleburne and Joyce Bellah of Highland Village; brother David Alton Griffin of Yellville, Ark.; parents of Lewisville; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Arthur Watson
WOLFE CITY - Arthur Wayne Watson of Garland died at his residence Monday. Funeral services were Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Garland with Dr. Steve Davis and Rev. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Wolfe City Cemetery.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Watson, he was born and raised in Wolfe City and attended school there.
Mr. Watson was retired from the Printing Department of Southern Methodist University. He was a member of the Sam's R.V. Club of Garland. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garland.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Barnette Watson of Garland; a son, Russell Watson of Austin; a daughter, Carmella Van Duzer of The Colony and a brother, Paul Watson of Garland.
Pallbearers were Howard Light, Garland Fielding, Max Bradford, Arnie Burke, Jim Bothwell and Bill Rankin.

George Motley
George Ronald Motley, 56, of Greenville died Monday at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Oles Pinson officiating. Burial is in Brigham Cemetery.
Born in Little Rock, Ark. on Aug. 27, 1942, he was the son of George Clarence Motley and Helen Warzel Motley. He married Anita Rowell on May 29, 1981 in Greenville.
Mr. Motley was vice president of Aero-Engineering for Raytheon Systems Co. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are his wife; his mother of Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Patrick Ronald Motley of Houston; daughters Nancy Miller of Birmingham, Ala., Tracey Shepherd of Greenville, Lori Snowden of Allen and Amy Hicks of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and John Sutton of Little Rock, Ark. and Carol and Herb Hoening of Union City, Ind.; 9 grandchildren and nieces, Jessica Sutton, Emily Hoening and Rachel Hoening.
His father preceded him in death in 1977.

QUINLAN - Jerry Lee Barber, 25, of Quinlan died Saturday. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Quinlan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Deets officiating. Burial is in Hooker Ridge Cemetery.
Born Dec. 1, 1972 in Dallas, he was the son of Dennis and Lana Sackett. He worked in construction.
Survivors include his parents of Quinlan; daughters Ashlea Barber and Chevanne Barber of Quinlan and one soon-expected infant; a brother, Roy Barber of Forney and a sister, Martha Daws of Quinlan.
A brother, Carl Sackett, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers are Eddie Black, Kevin Black, Chuck Crutcher, Tommy Anderson, Chris Epperson and Eric Kleiber.

COMMERCE - Hermon Reiber, 68, of Waskom, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday at Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, La. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce with David Gibson officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
The son of Perry Oliver Reiber and Winifred Hermon Reiber, he was born June 13, 1930 in Arlington, Calif. He and Donna Mae Gundrum were married Dec. 10, 1950 in Texarkana, Ark. Mr. Reiber served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and was a retired FAA inspector with Rockwell International. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Irving.
Surviving are his wife of Waskom; a son, Hermon Gary Reiber of Commerce; a daughter, Marcia Catheryn Melone of Lake of the Pines; sisters, Wilmeth Arlene Zech of Stuttgart, Ark. and Flora Mae Buntain of Logansport, Ind.; grandchildren, Gary Fulton Reiber and Megan Leigh Reiber of Commerce and Donna Catheryn Melone and Clarence Thomas Melone of Lake of the Pines and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest Edgar Reiber.

Robert H. Butler
WOLFE CITY - Robert H. Butler, 83, of Wolfe City died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Bailey and Rev. Roger Pugh officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Born Feb. 18, 1915 in Gober, Fannin County, he was the son of John William and Savanah Idella Wagner Butler. He married Mildred Tiffee on Feb. 5, 1936 in Wolfe City. He was a retired farmer and rancher.
Mr. Butler had been a member of the Aberfoyle Baptist Church in the Aberfoyle Community for 50 years and served as a deacon for many of those years.
Surviving are his wife of Wolfe City; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dale and Janice Butler of Weatherford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and David Hightower of Lenexa, Kan., Judy and John Silman of Cooper and Kathy and Steven Turner of Commerce; a brother, Cecil "Jack" Butler of Wolfe City; a sister, Ina Mae Lunsford of McKinney; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Frank Crawford
LEONARD - Frank Crawford , 92, of Leonard died Thursday in the Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial is in Leonard Cemetery.
Mr. Crawford was born Oct. 12, 1906 in Blossom; the son of Jack and Lillie Slaton Crawford. He married Lillie Dean on Dec. 14, 1924, in Detroit, Texas.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Grove Hill Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He served on the Leonard Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and was a mechanic and car dealership owner.
Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Crawford of Bedford and Geraldine Morton of Plano; sons, Billy Crawford of Leonard and James Crawford of Denison; sisters, Winnie Steele of Leonard and Ethel Jackson of Blossom; brothers, Raymond Crawford of Deport, Earl Crawford of Blossom, Marvin Crawford of Tyler, Clarence Crawford of Grant, Okla., Arthur Crawford of Hooks, Muriel Crawford of Blossom, John Crawford of North Richland Hills, Joe Lynn Crawford and Iris Crawford, both of Paris;, and Lee Mahan of Canton; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 31, 1994.
Leonard volunteer firemen are pallbearers.

Paul Fierros Jr.
QUINLAN - Paul Fierros Jr., 79, of Quinlan died at his home Tuesday. Mourners will meet at Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Saturday and then proceed to Hooker Ridge Cemetery for a graveside service. In case of rain, the service will be at the funeral home.
Born in Marlan on Oct. 27, 1919, he was the son of Paul and Cleofas Lopez Fierros. He married Tommie June McAllister.
Mr. Fierros was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a lab technician for Dal Tex.
He is survived by his wife of Quinlan; a daughter, Paula Lynette Fierros of Dallas; a sister, Minnie Garza of Dallas and one grandchild.
A son, Ed Buckhalt, preceded him in death on June 14, 1993.
Pam Nixon
QUINLAN - Pam Nixon, 50, of Quinlan, died Wednesday in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Tinsley officiating. Burial is in Hooker Ridge Cemetery.
She was born in Dallas on Jan. 19, 1948; the daughter of Loyd and De Alva Dupree Tidwell. She was a reporter and photographer for the Tawakoni News in Quinlan.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald Nixon of Quinlan; her mother of Quinlan; two sons, Randy Nixon of Leesburg, Va. and Michael English of Greenville; a daughter, Kimberly S. Nixon of Irving; a brother, Douglas Tidwell of West Tawakoni; a sister, Mona Price of Carlsbad, N.M. and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1993; an infant son in 1969 and a brother, Loyd Tidwell in 1975.
Donald Butts
There is a memorial service for Donald C. "Dutch" Butts, 67, of Greenville, formerly of Quinlan, at 2 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Farris Lack and Father Bob Poandl officiating.
He died Friday at his residence.
The son of John Butts and Doris Hayes, he was born May 13, 1931 in Neosho, Mo. He married Thelma Maye Frederick on Nov. 19, 1954 in Okmulgee, Okla. He was an upholsterer for 20 years.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Debra Butts of Winnsboro, Billy and Maria Butts of Mesquite and Fred and Rosemary Morrison of Seattle, Wash.; daughters and son-in-law Donna and Farris Lack of Greenville and Linda Morrison of Sturgeon, Mo.; two brothers, Glen Butts of Neosho, Mo. and Harold Butts of Diamond, Mo.; two sisters, Margaret Frederick of Claremore, Okla. and Beaulah Frederick of Okmulgee, Okla.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lee Butts.

Born in Ironhead, Fla. on Jan. 11, 1930, she was the daughter of William Thomas Holt and Lizzie Chewning Holt. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Ronnie Stewart of Oklahoma and Cary Yother of Mineola; two daughters, Wanda Stewart of Mineola and Sharon Stewart Agon of Mabank; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Davis
ALBA - Bonnie Davis, 79, of Quinlan died Tuesday in Rowlett. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel in Alba with Tom Rook officiating. Burial is in Colony Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 12, 1919 in Cleburne to Sam and Inez Annetia Latterman Orr. She lived most of her life in West Texas before moving to Hunt County in 1967. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Russell Davis and Joe E. Davis, both of Quinlan; a daughter Innettia "Sam" Moore of Cash; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Davis in 1989 and a grandson, Joseph Michael Davis in 1974.
Pallbearers are William Goode, Marty Caffee, Robert C. Moore, Robert Miller, Allen Miller, Rex Davis and Todd Davis.

LEONARD - Graveside services for James Daniel "Dan" Freeman, 79, of Bonham are at 1 p.m. Friday at the Willow Wild Cemetery, Bonham, with Rev. Houston Garner officiating.
He died Wednesday at the Wilson N. Jones Regional Health System in Sherman.
He was born June 23, 1919 in Leonard, son of John Freeman and Minnie Darst Freeman. He was a Baptist and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.
Surviving are a son, D.J. Freeman of Klondike; sisters Lucy Owen of Trenton, Eveleene McCoy of Maude and Lois Rasor of Savoy; brothers Rendell Freeman of Honey Grove and Wilburn Freeman of Sherman and four grandchildren.

John Mack
John Ester "Bigson" Mack of Greenville, died Saturday in a Mesquite hospital. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Elem Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. Ronald Davis officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
The son of Johnnie and Elsie Harrison Mack, he was born in Linden on Sept. 2, 1936. He married Bernice L. Abraham on Feb. 7, 1959 in Hunt County. Mr. Mack was a machine operator. He was a member of Mount Elem Baptist Church and he was a deacon.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; four sons, John A. Mack, Micheal E. Mack and Marlon D. Mack, all of Greenville and Cedric L. Mack of McKinney; two daughters, Kimberly Y. Mack and Melissa Mack, both of Greenville; a brother, E.L. Mack of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Lula Bell Traylor of Conroe; eight grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Rev. David I. McDonald of Greenville died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bethel AME Church in Greenville with Rev. Rodney Hood officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
The son of Davis and Daisey Mae Webb McDonald, he was born Oct. 24, 1920 in Jefferson. He and Viola Wilson were married in 1938 in Marion County.
Rev. McDonald was a retired minister and construction manager. He was a member of Mount Elem Baptist Church. He was pastor at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Detroit for 28 years and was also pastor at Baptist Hill Baptist Church in Ben Franklin and Haywood Baptist Church in Clarksville.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; two sons, Rev. William McDonald of Garland and Robert McDonald of Greenville; two daughters, Myrtle Jones of Sachse and Rev. Ella Brooks of Greenville; two brothers, Henry McDonald and Elmer McDonald, both of Jefferson; six sisters, Betty Higgs, Mattie S. Johnson, Terry L. Burton and Evelyn Payton, all of Dallas, Annie W. Brigham of Jefferson and Bessie Payton of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
