Richard Gibby

AUSTIN - Richard Lowell Gibby, 59, of Round Rock died Friday. Memorial services are at 2 p.m. today at C.D. Fulkes Auditorium with private graveside services at Palm Valley Cemetery.

Mr. Gibby was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Mercedes; the son of Earl Richard and and Edith Gibby. He began his teaching career in 1962 in Donna and taught for 32 years. He was currently an administrative assistant for the University Interscholastic League music office at the University of Texas.

Mr. Gibby was a member of TBA, TMEA, and a charter member of TMAA, Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha. He participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade in 1984 with the Round Rock High School band and in 1982, participated in the goodwill ambassadorship to Mexico.

After his retirement, he continued to serve as an adjudicator and clinician for various music contests in the state.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy, of Pflugerville; mother, of Greenville; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Marcus Gellner of Round Rock; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials may be made to the Lone Star Hospice, the band scholarship fund at Round Rock High School and the South Texas ALS chapter.

Services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home.

Hazel Douglas

FARMERSVILLE - Hazel Inez Douglas, 87, of Royse City died Sunday in Farmersville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fielder-Baker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clint Bratcher and Rev. Rick Ballard officiating. Burial is in Royse City Cemetery.

Mrs. Douglas was botn Jan. 13, 1911, in Nevada; the daughter of J.O. and Artie Myers Spearman. She was married to Weldon Douglas on Nov. 11, 1929, in Royse City.

She was a retired sales representative for West Texas Wholesale Drug Company and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Farmersville.

Surviving is a sister, Glenda Feagin of Farmersville.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lillie Lemisy

Lillie Mae Lemisy, 77, of Greenville died Friday in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Price Temple Church of God in Christ with Charles Craig officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lemisy was born April 29, 1921, in Richland; the daughter of John Kendrick and Minnie Johnson. She was married to Morris Lemisy in 1938, in Greenville. She was a member of the Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ.

Surviving are a daughter, Takola Ray of Dallas; brother, Floyd Johnson of Phoenix and sister, Ola Mae Anderson of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.

Pallbearers are friends of the family.

Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry Steen

POINT - Jerry Mack Steen, 53, of Point died Friday in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Buster Rivers officiating. Burial is in Hooker Ridge Cemetery in Lone Oak.

Mr. Steen was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Lone Oak; the son of Lloyd and Bessy Steen. He worked in the air conditioning business.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Point; daughter, Mary Lynn Steen; brother, Ed Steen; sisters, Malvin Herring, Mae Steen and Louise York; and one grandson, Christopher Steen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ben Steen and Allen Steen, and one sister, Joy Bailey.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Point-LyBrand Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Gay Cranmore

FARMERSVILLE - Gay Nell Cranmore, 35, of Farmersville died Saturday at North Central Medical Center in McKinney. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville with Bro. Rick Riddle officiating. Burial will be in Oklahoma.

She was born Dec. 22, 1963, the daughter of Cecil and Rosie Patterson Wigington. She was an assembler and a member of the Step of Faith Church.

Survivors include her mother, Rosie Wigington of Farmersville; three sons, Ritchie Cranmore of Farmersville, Jeffery Cranmore and Mitchell Cranmore both of Milburn Okla.; and three brothers, Chris Wigington of Salon Springs, Ark., Lofland Wigington of Shirley, Ark. and Lonzo Wigington of Hinton, Okla.

Ethel Martindale

Ethel Eva Martindale, 91, of Greenville died Friday at Greenville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Park Street Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Mosley officiating. Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Monday at Red Lick Cemetery near Nash, Texas.

Mrs. Martindale was born July 11, 1907 in Richmond, Ark., the daughter of John William Hawley and Rosey Ann Champain Hawley. She married Clarence Martindale on Sept. 24, 1936 In Texarkana, Ark. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Park Street Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

Survivors include a nephew and his wife, C. W. Hawley and Mary Hawley of Greenville; a niece and her husband, Hazel Thompson and Bill Thompson of Texarkana; and several great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 10 brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers are James Ervin, Rick Ervin, Buddy Ervin, Jerrel Tredway, Leo Bryant, and J. B. Blackshear. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Mays, Bob Parsons, Thurmon Helton, Willard Gandy, and Harold Green.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.

Von Miller

COMMERCE - Von Miller, 70, of Commerce died Thursday in Dallas. Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce with Rev. David Wood officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Memorial Park in McKinney.

Mr. Miller was born Oct. 16, 1828 in Farmersville, La., the son of Hugh Miller and Addie Pitts. He married Lynda Norris on July 21, 1957 in Greenville. He moved to Commerce in 1989 from Plano, where he owned and operated Miller Lumber Company for 25 years. He was a rancher and owned and operated his ranch near Commerce until his death.

Survivors include, his wife Lynda Miller of Commerce; daughters Vonda Miller of Commerce and Cathie Miller of Dallas; daughters and sons-in law Rene' and Kenny McKay of Temple and Melinda and Michael Pampolina of Plano; a brother, Hugh Miller of Ladonia; two sisters, Acile Camp of Greenville and Veta Brooks of Farmersville, La.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Miller and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Miller.

Pallbearers are Stanford Talley, John Talley, Curtis Fuller, Carl McGee, Billy Ritchie, and Lance Thornton. Honorary pallbearers are Earnest Hawkins, Sam Merrill, Harold Drake and Bill Ritchie.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jo Oxehufwud

LA GRANGE - Greenville native Josephine Phillips "Jo" Oxehufwud, 87, of La Grange and formerly of Kansas City died Friday evening.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church in La Grange with Rev. John Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in La Grange Cemetery.

She was born in Greenville on Feb. 6, 1911, to James A. and Virginia Katherine Ardis Phillips. She married Anders Oxehufwud in Houston and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in La Grange; president of the Fayette Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, member of the Friday Club and a supporter of the Festival Hill Institute at Round Top.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Barbro Caperton of Richmond, Va., and Elizabeth Smith of Lake George, N.Y., and two sisters, Ardis Phillips and Katherine Stought of La Grange.

Memorial contributions may be made ot the Festival Hill Institute at Round Top. Koenig-Peel and Strickland Funeral Home of La Grange is in charge of arrangements.

David Clayton

QUINLAN - David Clayton, 45, of West Tawakoni died Wednesday . Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Quinlan-LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel with Milton Spears officiating. Burial is in Lakeside Memorial Park.

Mr. Clayton was born Jan. 21, 1953, in Dallas; the son of J.W. and Dimple Barnett Clayton.

Surviving are his wife, Pamela Kay Clayton, of West Tawakoni; daughters, DeAnna Forsythe, Kacie Clayton and Amanda Clayton, all of West Tawakoni; brothers, Jimmy Clayton of Denison and Jerry Clayton and Don Clayton, both of Dallas; sister, Stacey Richards of Dallas; grandparent, Ina Barnett of Dallas; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both parents.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Zella Fields

POINT - Zella Irene Fields, 84, of Archer City died Thursday in an Archer City nursing home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Point-LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel with Lee Tillman officiating. Burial is in Lynch Cemetery.

Mrs. Fields was born March 17, 1914, in Bayson; the daughter of Elmer Alvin and Martha Ainsworth Cook.

Surviving are sons, Joe Fields, Jerry Fields, L.C. Fields, Carl Fields and Jimmy Fields; brother, Dewey Cook; sisters, Etta Mae, Vera Williams, Betty Hatley and Maria Lippincott; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pearlie Williams

Pearlie B. Williams of Wolfe City died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Beginning Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Wolfe City with Roy Price officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Daughter of Willie Bee and Ola Mae Gunner Hill, she was born March 29, 1928 in Fisher, La. She married Jessie Williams on June 16, 1941 in Greenville. She was a homemaker and she was a Jehovah's Witness.

Survivors include her mother, Ola Thomas, of Wolfe City; three nieces, Tommie J. Johnson of Wolfe City and Dorothy Sweet and Gertie Sweet of Dallas and four nephews, Thomas Sweet, Wayne Sweet and Howard Sweet of Dallas and Johnny Sweet of Crockett.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

Pallbearers will be Joe Jerigan, John L. Brown, Joe Don Wortham, Alfred Champion, Gerald Woodberry and Richard Crockett.

Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home of Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Williamson

Irene Williamson of Merit died Wednesday at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elmer Yates and Rev. Jeff Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Merit Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 20, 1919 in Edgewood to Thomas Rowe Cottingham and Vesta Elliott. On Feb. 27, 1935 she married Herschel Williamson in Waxahachie. Mrs. Williamson worked at Texas Instruments as an assembly worker and at Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a sales clerk. She was a Baptist.

Surviving are her husband of Merit; a son, Eugene Williamson of McKinney; a daughter, Carole Foley of Celeste; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Cottingham and a sister, Gertrude Pettus.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Marmon, Ronny Runner, Ronnie Foley, Jimmy Foley, Ralph Williamson, Paul Williamson and Jerry Don Goggans. Johnny Stephens and Gordon Allen will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Louis Hodge

AUSTIN - Louis Simon Hodge of Austin died Monday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Church of Christ in Austin. Burial will be in Cook Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Earc Lee Hodge; a daughter, Vernette Clark; a brother, Elroy Hodge Jr.; brother-in-law and wife Dewey Fitzpatrick II and Goldie of Greenville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

King-Tears Mortuary, Inc. of Austin is in charge of arrangements.

Estalee Rath

Funeral services for Estalee Rath of Caddo Mills will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Celeste with Rev. James Ralson officiating. Burial will be in the Celeste Cemetery. Mrs. Rath died Tuesday night at Green Acres Nursing Home in Emory.

Daughter of L.H. Compton and Annie Craigo, she was born Sept. 18, 1911 in Celeste. She married Rudolph Rath on March 19, 1960 in Greenville. Mrs. Rath was a housewife and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville.

Surviving are two brothers, Ray Compton of McKinney and Bobby Joe Compton of Celeste; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, David Eugene Wilkerson, Harry Charles Wilkerson and Phil Glen Wilkerson and two brothers, Glen and Hugh Compton.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Celeste.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home, Greenville.

Garland Shields

Funeral services for Garland O. Shields of Caddo Mills will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Rolen and Rev. John Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Shields died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.

Born in Hunt County on Feb. 28, 1912, he was the son of T.C. Shields and Zaddie Phillips. He and Veta Oneta Cunningham were married Aug. 17, 1935 in Greenville. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Shields was a member of Floyd Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Fred Willaby of Lone Oak; four grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 15, 1983; three sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Learned, Tracy Willaby, Steve Batson, Larry Bryant, Mike Parker and Don Watson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Marie Steward

ROYSE CITY - Marie Kenna Steward, 91, died in Rockwall Tuesday. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church of Royse City with Rev. Bettye Elledge officiating. Burial will be in Royse City Cemetery.

She was born north of Rockwall on Aug. 1, 1907, the only child of Alvin "Jessie" and Nona Buchanan Squires. In January of 1930 she married J.R. "Joe Bob" Steward of Royse City.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Sue and Robert Lowrie of Royse City; grandson and wife, Ron Steward and Jeanene Lowrie of Garland and two great-grandsons Jeff and Matt.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Robert Alvin, and another son, Billy DeWeese.

Memorials may be made to FUMC, 305 North Josephine, Royse City, Tx. 75189.

Rest Haven Funeral Home of Royse City is in charge of arrangements.
