Lois McMillan

Lois Ruth McMillan of Greenville died Dec. 12 at a Greenville nursing home. There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home with Rev. W.R. Harmon officiating.

The daughter of Sidney Simons and Jenny Hoover, she was born Jan. 30, 1910 in Commerce. She married Fred McMillan.

Mrs. McMillan was an accountant for the City of Cumby. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Cumby.

Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mary Hendershot of Greenville and Mary Sims of Muskogee, Okla.; a niece, Mary Margaret Campbell of Muskogee, Okla. and nephews John Simons of Tallahassee, Fla. and Charles Taylor Simonds of Cupertino, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, John McMillan and brothers Howard Simons and Morris Simons.

Manuel Ybarra

QUINLAN - Manuel Lopez Ybarra, 57, of Quinlan died Wednesday in an accident. There will be a Rosary today at 7 p.m. at Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel and a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Quinlan. Father Oscar Diez Jr. will officiate. Burial is in Lakeside Memorial Park in Quinlan.

He was born Sept. 16, 1941 in Austin, son of Francisco and Maria Lopez Ybarra.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Ybarra of Quinlan; four sons, Bobby Reeder of Dallas, Daniel Ybarra of Quinlan, Manuel Ybarra Jr. of Dallas and Felix Ybarra of Austin; five daughters, Pauline Pena, Vicki Ybarra and Vanessa Ybarra, all of Quinlan, and Rhonda Reeder and Mary Vargas of Dallas; six brothers, Francisco Ybarra and Joseph Ybarra of Austin, Bernardino Ybarra of Quinlan, Gavino Ybarra of Amarillo, Jesse Ybarra of Harker Hights and Alvino Ybarra of Dallas; four sisters, Hope Perez, Terry Krites and Judi Cerda of Austin and Petra Powell of Dallas and 17 grandchildren.

A brother, Faustino Ybarro, preceded him in death in 1996.

Della Bruner

FARMERSVILLE - Della D. Bruner, 71, of Greenville died Wednesday. Graveside services are at Ware Cemetery in Kemp at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Jeff Fisher officiating.

Born Nov. 21, 1927, she was the daughter of Ira N. Bruner and Ollie C. Farley Bruner. She worked in home health care.

She is survived by a brother, Neubron Bruner of Waxahachie.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.

Mary Ford

LADONIA - Mary Christene Ford of Ladonia died Tuesday at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Cedric Barksdale officiating. Burial is in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Born in DeKalb on Aug. 13, 1928, she was the daughter of Lummer and Clara Roberts Samuel. She married Harden Ford in Cooper on Oct. 31, 1963. Mrs. Ford was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of Ladonia; two sons, Roger Jones of Huntsville and Charlie Jones of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Ollie Scott, Joycell Oaks and Uretha Jones, all of Ladonia and Loretta Greer of Commerce; two sisters, Clara Yates of Ladonia and Gladys Cooper of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one daughter.

Pallbearers will be Albert Lee, Britt Greer, Nolan Greer, Doug Jones, Robert Scott Jr. and Rodney Cuba.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home Chapel, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Annie Smith

FARMERSVILLE - Annie Mae Smith, 98, of Farmersville died Monday in Harrisonville, Mo. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Ballard officiating. Burial is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

The daughter of Louis L. and Mary T. Wisdom Allison, she was born Nov. 16, 1900 in Farmersville. She was married to J. Bryan Smith. Mrs. Smith worked as a sales clerk. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmersville.

Surviving are a daughter, Ella Mae Klepyas of Garden City, Mo.; a brother, Burton Allison of Farmersville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.

Edward Strom

DALLAS - Edward K. Strom, 73, of Horseheads, N.Y. died Sunday at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, N.Y. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel,with Rev. Rick Huggins officiating. Burial is in Restland Memorial Park.

The son of David Strom and Martha Anderson, he was born July 3, 1925 in Chicago, Ill. Mr. Strom served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a retired machinist with Rockwell International in Dallas.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ruth Bennett Strom; son and fiancee, Edward C. Strom and Sherrie of Elmira, N.Y. and son and daughter-in-law David and Robin Strom of Greenville; a daughter, Rebecca Strom of Dallas; two daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Joe Austin of Richardson and Vickie and David Chapman of San Antonio; two brothers, Robert and Danny Strom; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandsons John and Randy Davis.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8111 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, 75251.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Martha Andrews

CADDO MILLS - Martha Lorene Andrews, 82, of Houston, died Sunday at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Rentfrow Funeral Home in Caddo Mills with Rev. Trey Lancaster officiating. Burial is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

The daughter of Dea Roa Cotten and Martha L. Maddox Cotten, she was born Oct. 9, 1916 in Van Horn. She married Johnnie Elmo Andrews on Sept. 23, 1932 in Oakwood.

Mrs. Andrews was a homemaker and was a Baptist.

She is survived by two sons, Roy C. Andrews of California and Bob Andrews of Houston; a daughter, Kay Benton of San Antonio; two sisters, Christine Shaull of California and Phoebe Aspenall of California; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Charles and three daughters, Laverne, Claudia Jean and Barbara Jo.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

J.R. Chafin

J.R. Chafin of Greenville died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Donald LaBrot officiating. Burial is at 2 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Born in Dublin on July 19, 1916, he was the son of Dilmus Franklin Chafin and Katie Belle Spencer Chafin. On Oct. 22, 1939 he married Helen C. Kennedy in Levelland.

Mr. Chafin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired office manager for Southwestern Public Service. He was a member of the First Assembly of God.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; a son, Roger Chafin of Dallas; a daughter, Kay Rogers of Richardson; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert Chafin, Jimmy Chafin and Dean Chafin and a sister, Thelma Underhill.

Pallbearers are Billy Abell, Mike Powell, Dan Creider, John Ross, Don Coppinger and Jerry Monk.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clyde Leggett

ABILENE - Graveside services for Clyde L. Leggett, 86, were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Albany Cemetery in Albany. Rev. John Tunnell officiated. Mr. Leggett died December 9 in an Abilene nursing home.

He was born in Greenville, Hunt County, to Fred and Effie Leggett and married Thelma W. Woodall in 1936 in Taylor County.

Mr. Leggett worked as a heavy equipment operator and moved to Albany in 1947. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife of Abilene; two sons, Fred Leggett of Midland and Butch Leggett of Abilene; three daughters, Linda Campbell and Melissa Dotson, both of Abilene and Delores White of Lavaca, Ark.; four brothers, Albert Leggett of Possum Kingdom Lake, Pete Leggett of Carlsbad, Arvil Leggett of Greenville and Burl Thompson of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Rosa Hataway and Faye Smith, both of Garland and Mary Williams of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Philip Sanders

Funeral services for Philip Keith Sanders of Dallas will be at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Dr. David Stubblefield officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

He died Tuesday at his residence.

The son of Robert Sanders and Ruth Green Sanders, he was born Feb. 25, 1967 in Greenville. He worked in quality control for Southwest Test, Inc. Mr. Sanders was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Surviving are his parents of Greenville; a brother, John Robert Sanders of Irving; grandmother, Mary E. Sanders of Greenville; uncles and aunts Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Sanders of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Sanders of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Perry of Dallas Mr. and Mrs. Elo Nohavitza of Bedford and Mr. and Mrs. C.I. Green of Lubbock; aunts Mrs. Jean Lightford of Hurst and Mrs. Mary Cook of Fort Worth; an uncle, Wayne Sanders of Greenville and a number of cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Green and D.F. Sanders.

Pallbearers are Rick Walker, Dewey Nelson, Rashad Black, Tommy Withers, Jimmy Sanders and David Sanders.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Polly Anderson

GARLAND - Polly Caldwell Anderson, 77, of Garland died Saturday in a Mesquite hospital. There is a graveside service today at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.

She was born July 1, 1921 in Wolfe City. Mrs. Anderson was a beautician and owner of Polly's Beauty Shop for over 35 years and a resident of Garland for the last 50 years.

Surviving are her husband, Bill Anderson, daughter Shirley Anderson, sons Ricky and Billy Anderson, all of Garland; and one granddaughter.

Williams Funeral Directors of Garland are in charge of arrangements.

Victoria Birzer

LEONARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Victoria Dorothy Birzer, 90, of Leonard will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. John Catholic Church in St. John, Kan. Burial is in the Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John. She died Monday at the Leonard Nursing Home.

The daughter of Anton and Martha Schoenthaler Kreutzser, she was born June 20, 1908 in Liebenthal, Kan. She married Nicholas P. Birzer on Aug. 31, 1936. She was a housewife and a Catholic.

Surviving are a daughter, Martha R. Lundsford of Harlingen; sons Cletus J. Birzer of Farmersville, Clement T. Birzer of Great Bend, Kan. and Austin N. Birzer of El Monte, Calif; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Evans of Aurora, Calif, Clarinda Campbell of Lufkin, Leontine Hamkin of Larned, Kan., Odilia Lasiter of San Angelo, Mathilda Miller of LaCrosse, Kan. Betrice Kohl of Chula Vista, Calif. and Eleanor Shinogle of Meade, Kan.; a brother, Raymond L. Krutzer of Carthage, Mo. and two grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1991.

Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Day

EMORY - Richard Day, 62, of Point died Sunday at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Emory Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Anderson officiating. Burial is in Emory City Cemetery.

Mr. Day was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Dike; the son of Delbert Wayne and Dorothy Shields Day. He married Joan Coker on Dec. 13, 1955, in Dallas. He was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a son, Richard Emery Day of Greenville; daughters, Cheryl Ray and Leslie Robertson of Rowlett; brother, Donald Day of Emory; sisters, Judy Phillip and Pansy Kinnard, both of Euless; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Eddie Jones, Roger Hooten, Don Spencer, Jack Key, Homer Robertson and Jerry Grogan.

Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.

J.R. Greer

J.R. "Shorty" Greer of Greenville died Saturday evening at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services are at 10 a.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Daugherty officiating. Burial is in Sullivan Cemetery.

Mr. Greer was born in Hunt County on July 31, 1919, to Lee and Amanda Dawson Greer. He married Bessie Elizabeth Arnold on Nov. 4, 1966, in Greenville. He was the owner of Shorty's Tire Shop and also raised cattle. He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Bobby Greer of Mesquite; daughters Georgia Shipp of Campbell, Linda Weeks of Mesquite and Nelda Hodgson and Myrtie Dunn of Greenville; a sister, Pauline Lunsford of Sulphur Springs; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael Greer and Edward Hodgson, and two sisters, Olla Mae Horton and Ollie Lee Jones.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Lillian Harris

Lillian Williams Harris, 84, of Holly Pond, Ala., died Friday at Cullman Medical Center in Cullman, Ala. There will be a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. today at Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating.

The daughter of Jessie Reid Williams and Martha Jane Thornton Williams, she was born Sept., 8, 1914 in Greenville. She married Leland "Buster" Harris on Dec. 14, 1940 in Hunt County. She was a retired admitting clerk from Citizens General Hospital. Mrs. Harris was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville.

She is survived by a son, Tommy R. Harris of Morganton, Ga.; a daughter, Sue Morris of Holly Pond, Ala.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961, seven brothers and three sisters.

Nephews are pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Library, Cullman, Ala. or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Latham

EMORY - Funeral services for James J. Latham, 78, of Point will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with G.D. Phillips officiating. Burial is in Woosley Cemetery. He died Sunday at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Born June 24, 1920 in Rains County, he was the son of Barney and Alice Lynch Latham. He married Alene Kelley Latham on June 12, 1943 in Comanche. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

Mr. Latham was a machinist with Lantex Hydraulic Company. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife of Point; a daughter, Laverne Redmon of Irving; a brother, J.B. Latham of Emory; sisters Juanita Jennings of Emory, Nina Wade of Emory, Villa Quirl of Burnet, Wauthene Reynolds of Denison and Vernice Seelye of Chico; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Odie Taylor, Curtis Taylor, Gene Wade, Tommy Wade, Bobby Redmon and Jerry Redmon. Honorary pallbearers are James Latham, Ronnie Fenter and Elmer Latham.

Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
