COMMERCE - Mason Arthur Fritz, 60, of Clear, Alaska, died Wednesday in Commerce. Funeral services are Monday at Allen-Melvin Funeral Chapel in Sterling, Ill. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
He was born in Sterling, Ill. on Dec. 18, 1938 to Arthur Herman Fritz and Vera Norlyn Montgomery. He was employed by Mason and Hanger Corporation of Clear, Alaska for 25 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Norlyn and Bob Quinn of Commerce and a niece, Angela Quinn of Dallas.
His parents preceded him in death.

Wylie Perry
HIDE-A-WAY LAKE - Wylie Thomas "Tom" Perry of Hide-A-Way Lake died Monday. There is a memorial service at 2 p.m. today at Hike-A-Way Lake Community Church.
The son of E.E. Perry and Lora L. Crockett Perry, he was born Nov. 29, 1923 in Floyd. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Perry was a member of Hide-A-Way Lake Community Church, Mount Sylvan Blue Lodge, Dallas Scottish Rite and Sharon Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Marie Perry; one son, Mike Perry of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Lisa Kincaid of Hide-A-Way Lake and Linda McKenzie of Spartanburg, S.C.; two brothers, Harold E. Perry of Denton and Herman Perry of Arlington and five grandchildren.
Mr. Perry's body was donated to South Western Medical Center in Dallas.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
J.E. Scott
WOLFE CITY - J.E. "Ed" Scott, 87, of Wolfe City, died Monday at Windsor House Retirement Center in Weatherford following a lengthy illness. There is a graveside service at Mount Carmel Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday with Dwight Gardner officiating.
Born July 11, 1911 in Tyler, he was the son of Edward Wesley and Lillian Maud Stone Scott. He married Elva Voss on July 9, 1933 in Commerce.
Mr. Scott graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1929 and received a bachelor of arts degree from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce.
After serving with the U.S. Air Corps as a ferry pilot during World War II, he moved to Wolfe City in 1948. A teacher and rancher, he served as Wolfe City postmaster for 15 years, retiring in 1975.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Masonic Order since 1941; a member of the American Legion, had a life membership in the American Red Cross, served on the Wolfe City Library Board for several years and was a member of the Wolfe City Chamber of Commerce.
He served as Justice of the Peace from July 1980 until October 1984. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, James Edward Scott of Aledo and Rodger L. Scott of San Antonio; a sister, Melba Graham of Grand Prairie; a brother, Joe W. Scott of Greenville; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers are R.J. Scott, Brian Scott, Cecil McPheeters, Joe Scott, Bernard Clayton and Andy McDonald. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Myrick, Cleve Hooe and Paul Roundtree.

Billy Young
DALLAS - Billy E. Young, 70, of Royse City died Wednesday from cancer. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel in Dallas with Roger Ratliff officiating. Burial is in Grove Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Young graduated from Plano High School and was retired from Southwestern Drug Corp. He was a member of Vansickle Baptist Church in Greenville.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Young; five children; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; parents Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. Young of Plano; one sister; one brother and nieces and nephews.
A son, Chuck Young, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, LBJ at Northwest Highway in Dallas.
Jim Coffey
Jim Coffey of Greenville died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Mount Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Davis officiating.
Son of Tugg and Martha Coffey, he was born Aug. 7, 1914 in Naples. Mr. Coffey was a general laborer. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include six nieces, Jo Ann Johnson and Sylvia Johnson of Greenville and Mary Caldwell, Martha Coffey, Laverne Coffey and Dorothy Coffey, all of Dallas and three nephews, J.W. Coffey, John L. Coffey and Arthur Coffey, all of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Grace Holley
Grace Holley of Greenville died Monday at Parkhaven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.
Born May 15, 1902 in Hunt County, she was the daughter of William Calvin Almon and Mary E. Bettie Jones Almon. She was married to Charlie Holley on April 18, 1920 in Campbell. She was a member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Holley was a charter member of the Prairie Valley Home Demonstration Club.
She is survived by a son, Charles Holley of Greenville; daughters Ellaweene Hilbun of Lone Oak, Juanita Tasa of Lone Oak, Durene Bryant of Greenville and Charlene Smith of Lone Oak; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 8, 1976 and two brothers, Fred and Calip Almon.
Pallbearers will be Gary Davidson, Ronny Bukkum, Eugene Head, Holley Tasa, John Hilbun Jr., Charles Husband, John Wayne Hilbun Sr. and Billy Moon.

Myron Holloway
QUINLAN - Myron Eugene Holloway, 80, of Quinlan, died Monday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Ratliffe officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Cemetery in Greenville.
He was born in Downs, Kan. on May 20, 1918. Mr. Holloway served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Retired, he had owned and operated a service station.
He is survived by a son, Mike Holloway of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Chris Lockwood of Raleigh, N.C. and two stepdaughters, Jan Saulters of Quinlan and Margaret Story of Josephine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ellen Holloway on Dec. 7, 1997.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Jewel Lewis
QUINLAN - Jewel Aliene Lewis, 87, of Terrell, died Monday at Country View Manor Nursing Home in Terrell. There will be a graveside service at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Quinlan at 2 p.m. today with Truman Stokes officiating.
She was born in Hunt County on Aug. 20, 1911 to Levi Newton Samuel Perry Green and Mary Elizabeth Smith Bowen. She worked for Boles Home and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla., Edward Lewis of Cash and Jack Lewis of Plano; two daughters, Mary Bowling of Gun Barrel and Marie Love of Terrell; two brothers, Milus Bowen of Greenville and Johnny Bowen of Arkansas; a sister, Vergie; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Lewis, on Feb. 7, 1987; two grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Dorothy McCrary
LEONARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy McCrary, 68, of Greenville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Leonard with Rev. Sydney Brandon officiating. Burial will be in the Celeste Cemetery.
She died Monday in the Medical Care Center in Van Alstyne.
She was born May 1, 1930 in Grapevine, daughter of Bill and Ruth Collins. She was married to William J. McCrary in Harrison, Ark. Mrs. McCrary was a private nurse. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include daughters Carol Mazzola of Greenville and Billie Brown of Richardson; sons Jimmy Freeman of Bedford and Jay Freeman of DuQuoin, Ill.; a sister, Mary Thomas of Hope, Ark. and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Mazzola, Richard Brown, Walter Littlejohn, Danny Ray Thomas, E.L. Blackstock and Don Blackstock.

Betty Shepherd
COLUMBIA, Md. - Betty Sparkman Shepherd, 51, of Columbia, Md., formerly of Commerce, died Jan. 14 at Johns Hopkins Hospital of breast cancer. There was a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Jan. 23 at Witzke Funeral Home in Columbia.
She was born in Commerce and graduated from East Texas State University. She moved to Columbia in 1972 and taught preschool in Long Reach for two years.
After moving to Baltimore in 1974, she began restoration of her home in the Union Square District. She served for many years as the police community relations representative. She also worked with troubled adolescents.
Mrs. Shepherd taught at Morrell Park Elementary School, while becoming involved in real estate. She joined First National Bank of Baltimore in 1978 where she worked in several areas including human resources, branch administration, information systems and telecommunications. Most recently she had been involved in the integration efforts for the First National and Dauphin Bank merger. She moved to Columbia in 1989 with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Shepherd; a brother, Bill Sparkman of Grapevine; and parents Mildred and William Sparkman Jr. of Commerce.

Richelieu White
Funeral services for Richelieu Theron White of Greenville will be at 2 p.m. today at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Smith and Rev. David Stubblefield officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
She died Sunday at Greencrest Manor.
Born June 8, 1911 in Greenville, she was the daughter of George Candler and Elizabeth Jane Lewis. She was married to Hughes White on May 24, 1949 in Greenville.
Mrs. White was a retired legal secretary and a sales representative. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of Greenville; a daughter, June Benner Page of Dallas; grandchildren Lynne Elizabeth Page Clarke of The Netherlands, John Phillip Page Jr. of Dallas and Thomas Hughes Page of Dallas and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Pallbearers are J.C. Green, Bob Harwell, Erman Carnagey, Leon Boulton, Phillip Page and Tommy Page. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Fellowship Sunday School class.

FARMERSVILLE - Rosemary Blain of Garland died Sunday at Baylor Hospital at Garland. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at the Church of Christ in Farmersville with Mac LeFan and John Morgan officiating. Burial is in Fox Cemetery in Ola.
She was born May 16, 1923 in Kaufman to Columbua Hampton Priddy and Annie Laroe Priddy. She and Herbert Blain were married May 30, 1941 in Kaufman.
Mrs. Blain was a member of the Farmersville Church of Christ and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicky Carlson of Garland; a son, Nick Blain of Texarkana; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dulcy Bowers
BLUE RIDGE - Dulcy Mobe Bowers, 95, of Blue Ridge died Sunday in Farmersville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge with Rev. John Hudson and Rev. Buster Brown officiating. Burial is in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
Born April 12, 1903 in Blue Ridge, she was the daughter of Walter M. Branch and Georgia Alley Branch. She married W.A. "Red" Bowers on Sept. 4, 1921. She was a member of Blue Ridge Methodist Church. Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Johnnye M. Bowers of Blue Ridge; two sisters, Edwina Burgess of Blue Ridge and Jaquita Gay of Dessert and seven grandchildren.

Minnie Cooper
COMMERCE - Minnie Lee Little Cooper, 85, of Campbell died Monday at McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Commerce Church of Christ with David Gibson and grandson Shane Carrington officiating. Burial is in New Klondike Cemetery.
The daughter of Silas H. Woods and Lilla Dale Black, she was born April 13, 1913 in Cumby. She graduated from Klondike High School. She was married to Wylie B. Cooper in 1982.
Mrs. Cooper was a former postmaster in Klondike and she had been a dorm mother at East Texas State University. She lived in Campbell for 17 years.
Surviving are her husband of Campbell; sons and daughters-in-law Lanny Dale and Nancy Little of Plano and Fred and Linda Little of Mount Joy; a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Ted Carrington of Cooper; six grandchildren, Michael Little of Wylie, Shane Carrington of Sulphur Springs; Robin Floyd of Mount Vernon, Matthew Little of Mount Joy, Jason Little of Plano and Stacy Means of Searcy, Ark. and six great-grandchildren, Rachel and Hannah Carrington of Sulphur Springs, Nicholas and Natalie Little of Plano and Emily and Bailey Floyd of Mount Vernon.
Her first husband, Abner William Little, preceded her in death in 1950.
Pallbearers are Michael Little, Shane Carrington, Matthew Little, Jason Little, Brad Floyd and Joel Means.

Dennis O'Neal
COMMERCE - Dennis Milton O'Neal, 44, of Commerce died January 27 at Medical Center in Plano. There was a memorial service Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Stuart, Okla. with Rev. Huston Seaton and Rev. Tommy Brannon officiating. Burial is at the Little Cemetery in Little, Okla.
Born Oct. 3, 1954 in Shawnee, Okla. he was the son of Bud and Pat Newman O'Neal. He grew up in Dallas and was a 1972 graduate of Samuel High School, Dallas.
He received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in psychology and counseling from East Texas State University.
Surviving are his parents of Stuart, Okla.; two sisters, Debbie Stanberry of Midwest City and DeAnn Waggoner of Red Oak; three nephews and three nieces.
Maxine Reed
Maxine E. Reed, 88, of Greenville died Sunday at Vencor Hospital in Dallas. There will be a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. today at Memoryland Memorial Park with Dr. Bill Brenner officiating.
The daughter of Julius Luhn and Bettie Speegle, she was born Nov. 17, 1910 in Taylor. She was married to T.P. "Buddy" Reed on June 26, 1932 in Durant, Okla. Mrs. Reed was a retired secretary with International Milling Co. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean Hayes of Greenville; two sisters, Lorraine Summerfeld of Pasadena and Julia Johnson of El Paso; a grandchild, Keith Hayes of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Hayes and Shannon Hayes of Greenville and great-great-grandchildren Tyler Hayes and Cheyenne Hayes of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 2, 1968 and one brother, Martin Luhn.
Pallbearers are Keith Hayes, Jeremy Hayes, Wayne Pippin, Roger Pippin, Ray Allen and Russell Gray.
