SAN ANTONIO - Greenville native Guy Hurst, Jr., 77,died Wednesday in San Antonio. Graveside services with full military honors are at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Thompson, USAF (Ret) officiating.
Masonic services are under the auspices of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas with Grand Master W. Michael Gower presiding.
He was born October 19, 1921, to Guy Hurst, Sr. and Annie Laurie Peak Hurst in Greenville.
Mr. Hurst enlisted in the Army in 1942 an entered aviation cadet pilot training, receiving his wings in 1944. He served in numerous command and staff positions during his career and was one of the first Air Force officers chosen for exchange duty with the United States Navy.
Mr. Hurst served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, received numerous awards and decorations and retired in 1974 as a Brigadier General in the United States Air Force.
He was a Mason and was elected Grand Master of Masons in Colorado January, 1991. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Order of the Daedalions.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie J. Hurst; daughter Patricia Genest of Colorado Springs; brother Joseph N. Hurst of Houston; sisters Ann Neighbors of Houston, Jane Taylor of Royse City and Elizabeth Randle of Irving; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Louise Johnson
EMORY - Louise Johnson, 87, of Emory died Saturday at the Sunrise Health Care Center in DeSoto. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Miller officiating. Burial is in Emory City Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 28, 1911, in Emory; the daughter of Emma Lee and Giles Moody Sr. She was married to Arthur Joihnson on Dec. 8, 1929, in Dallas.
She was a retired underwriter and a member of the Emory Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Carl Johnson and Douglas Johnson, both of Emory; daughter, Billie Bennett of Duncanville; brothers, Bill Moody of Pasadena and Alvin Moody of Conroe; sisters, Marilyn Moody of Houston and Mavis Adabaugh of Houston; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and a daughter in 1945.
Grandsons are pallbearers.

Elbert Murdock
Elbert D. Murdock, 82, of Greenville died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services are at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home at 2 p.m. today with Rev. Marvin McDaniel and Rev. Glendle Rains officiating. Burial is in Tidwell Cemetery.
He was born in Hunt County on April 27, 1916 to Volney F. Murdock and Bessie Lee Stafford Murdock. He married Ida Mae Spoonemore on July 19, 1947 in Greenville.
Mr. Murdock served with the United States Army in World War II. He worked as a shipping and receiving clerk at E-Systems.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons Kenny Murdock of Commerce and Lee Murdock of Rockwall; daughter Norma Reynolds of Garland; sister Melba Cawthon of Greenville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alton Murdock, and sisters Rosie Moss and Lena Rogers.
Pallbearers are Mickey Money, Ronnie Blaske, Joe Halliburton, Rev. John Davis, Chuck Precopia and Paul Stricklin.
Guy Payne
CADDO MILLS - Guy Malone Payne, 87, of Caddo Mills died Thursday in Greenville. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Bible Church in Caddo Mills with Glen Steed, Rev. David Stern and Rev. Butch Bruton officiating. Burial is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
The son of Flavy Malone Payne and Sally Ella Arp Payne, he was born July 26, 1911 in the community of Caddo Mills. He and Geraldyne Gossett were married June 26, 1937 in Caddo Mills.
Mr. Payne was a grocer, rancher and realtor. He owned Payne's Supermarket for more than 50 years. He was Caddo Mills' Citizen of the Year in 1979. He helped organize the Caddo Mills Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of the Caddo Mills Riding Club, Soil Conservation Board, Cattlemen's Association and Lion's Club.
He was a member of Faith Bible Church.
Surviving are his wife of Caddo Mills; son Dusty Payne of Sherman; son and daughter-in-law Danny and Susan Payne of Quinlan; daughter and son-in-law Jerry Gail and Bill Dawson of Caddo Mills; a brother, Harold Payne of Caddo Mills; grandchildren Rowdy Payne, Jay Dawson, Tracy Payne, Steve Dawson, Courtney Painter, Josh Payne and Jeb Payne and seven great-grandchildren.
A sister preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Thomas Paul Jenkins, Jimmy Thomason, George Helton, Joe Gilmore, Jack Fleming, Jack Burkett, Hurley Jenkins and Joe C. Johnson. J.W. Farr, Bus Newman, Lawrence Ayers, Buel Bentley, Tommy Vaughan and J.E. Forehand are honorary pallbearers.

R.D. Bass
EMORY - R.D. Bass, 71, of Yantis died Friday at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arlis Banks officiating. Burial is in Yantis Cemetery.
Mr. Bass was born April 11, 1927, in Lockett; the son of George and Margaret Bass. He married Yvonne Redden on Jan. 24, 1975, in Abilene.
Mr. Bass was a retired mechanic and a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of Yantis; sons, Daniel Bass of Hurst and Craig Bass of Fort Worth; step-son, Danny Knox of Yantis; daughter, Jana Balderas of Bossirt City, La.; step-daughters, Dianna Short and Sherry Davis, both of Garland; brother, George Bass Jr. of Gun Barrell City; sister, Lawanda Wheeler of Lewisville; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and great-grandsons are pallbearers.

Mary Barnett
FARMERSVILLE - Mary Catherine Barnett of Fort Worth died Thursday in Canton. Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Princeton with Rev. Roger D. Garbs officiating.
Born in Fort Worth on Oct. 5, 1922, she was the daughter of Bunn C. Mulinax and Sallie F. Millican Mulinax. She was a bookkeeper and a Baptist.
Surviving are a son, Pat StCyr and grandchildren, Patricia StCyr, Winston StCyr, Jerry Anderson, Sam Axson, Sallie Dobecka, Daniel Dobecka, Jimy Dobecka, Mary Malone and Melissa Chance and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Treva Rodger and husband Bill Abey.

Romie Hennen
EMORY - Romie W. Hennen, 83, of Emory died Thursday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Burial is in Elm Cemetery.
Born Oct. 27, 1915 in Hopkins County, he was the son of Willie C. and Molly V. Mills Hennen. He married Vivian Lorene Pennebaker on March 2, 1935 in Rains County.
Mr. Hennen was a heavy duty equipment operator and retired from Hopkins County. He served eight years as Commissioner of Rains County Precinct No. 1.
He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and he was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife of Emory; a daughter, Vaunita Blanton of Emory; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Reda Hennen and a brother, Roby Dell Hennen.
Pallbearers are Paul Ray Adams, James McMahan, Bill Potts, Shelby Abercrombie, Cliff Johnston and Raymond Clifton. Honorary pallbearers will be Lovell Donaldson, Robert Garmon, Ivan Alexander, Woodrow Asbill and Joe Dale Hoover.
Emma McDowell
EMORY - Funeral services for Emma Fay McDowell, 77, of Emory are at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Potts officiating. Burial is Emory City Cemetery. She died Thursday at her home.
Mrs. McDowell was born in Alabama on July 10, 1921 to George Washington and Elizabeth Bates Callahan. In 1967 she married S.W. McDowell in Dallas. Mrs. McDowell was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband of Emory; sons, Danny Bridges of Dallas and Skipper McDowell of Oklahoma; daughters, Susan Stevens of Colorado, Linda Achilles of Burleson and Sandra McDowell of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Loyd Beadles
SULPHUR SPRINGS - Funeral services for Loyd F. "Doodle" Beadles, 67, of Sulphur Springs will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. Cletis Speed officiating. Burial is in Posey Cemetery.
He died Wednesday at Hopkins County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
The son of Louie E. and Dollie Dell Robertson Beadles, he was born Sept. 4, 1931 in Peerless. He attended North Hopkins High School and was a former longtime resident of Arlington before returning to Hopkins County.
He married Jo Ann Dixon in Hopkins County on Aug. 31, 1952; she preceded him in death on June 22, 1989. He married Beth Johnson in the Posey Community on July 4, 1990.
Mr. Beadles was employed in the Paint Department of General Motors Corp.; retiring after 30 years' service. He then began a career in dairy farming and cattle trading. He was a member of the Baptist Church and attended Posey Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rick and Patti Beadles of Garland, Rodney and Cindy Beadles of Arlington and David Beadles of Fort Worth; adopted son Jeff Shoemaker of Fort Worth; stepsons and their wives, Larry and Helen Moss, Danny Ray and Kaylyn Moss and Scott and Amber Moss, all of Como; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Gene and Mary Beadles of Sulphur Springs; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and Joe Marlar of Garland and Geraldine and Dave Day of Campbell; two stepbrothers and their wives, T. H. and Patsy Burks of Pickton and Wiley and Dera Burks of Corpus Christi; three stepsisters and their husbands, Vera Mae and Weldon Glossup, Sue and Leiland Walker and Modene and Roy Sims, all of Sulphur Springs and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Lowell Beadles, in 1971.
Pallbearers are Blake Beadles, Brad Norris, Kelly Dixon, Chris Dixon, Larry Norton, Larry Speed, Gary Speed and Richard Pryor.

John Henderson
COMMERCE - John H. Henderson, 61, of Commerce died March 18 at Columbia Medical Center in McKinney. Funeral services are at noon Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses with Durwin Hohhertz officating. Burial is in Floyd Valley Cemetery in Marietta.
Mr. Henderson was born May 13, 1937, in Marietta; the son H.D. and May Henderson. He was married to Mildred Allen on Jan. 2, 1960, in East Texas. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
Surviving are his mother; sons, Ricky Henderson and John Henderson Jr., both of Dallas; daughters, Cathy Graves, Tersa Franks and Debra West, all of Dallas; and Barbara Harrison of Commerce; brothers, Clentie Henderson of Marietta and Oscar Henderson of Douglasville; sisters, Myrtlee Henderson of Texarkana, Texas and Nellie Simms of Dallas; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Jacks
DALLAS - Kenneth Lester Jacks, 70, of Mesquite died Monday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman. Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Restland Memorial Chapel with Gary Troxell and Vic Bass officiating.
Mr. Jacks was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Quinlan to G.B. and Lorene Jacks. He was married to Joyce Norris on June 18, 1951.
Mr. Jacks worked for Freeman Oldsmobile and was later self-employed at Ken's Used Cars in Mesquite before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Surviving are his wife of Mesquite; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Jodie Poston of Mesquite and Earla and Mike Rodgers of Plano; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. and Deanne Jacks of Garland; six grandchildren; brothers, J.W. Jacks of Quinlan, Clifford Jacks of Elmo, Clovis Jacks of Whitesboro; and sisters, Dorothy Carpenter of Whitesboro and Fern Hamm of Sherman.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Jason Poston and Michael Rodgers; and nephews, David Hamm, Steve Hamm, Dwayne Jacks, Cody Luna, David Luna, Don Earl Armstrong and Jack Armstrong.

Mary Frances Potter, 53, of Arlington died Wednesday at her residence. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan Cemetery in Campbell with Rev. Jim Slocomb officiating.
She was born on May 14, 1945 in Lone Oak to Edward Miller and Mary Hatchett Miller. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her father of Arlington; three sons, John Lawing, Raymond Lawing and Charles Lawing, all of Arlington; a brother, Jimmy Miller of Tyler and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one daughter, Chalina Lawing in 1980.

Robert Pugh
Robert Daniel Pugh, 72, of Celeste, formerly of Dallas, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Celeste with Rev. James Ralson officiating. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Born in Dallas on June 3, 1926, he was the son of John William Pugh and Ola Katherine Walling Pugh. He married Betty Harrison on Jan. 16, 1948 in Dallas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Pugh was a retired salesman for General Electric. He was a member of the Celeste Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife of Celeste; his mother of Dallas; a son, Greg Pugh of Dallas; a daughter, Barbara Jackson of Lewisville; a daughter-in-law, Louise Pugh of Rowlett; a brother, John Walling Pugh of Dallas; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Pugh, in 1987 and his father in 1964.
Pallbearers are Kip Jackson, David Meyer, Johnny Moore, John Allen Pugh, Mark Harrison and Jimmy Patterson.

Born in Clinton on Jan. 13, 1914, she was the daughter of G.E. Melton and Fannie Jones Melton. She married Sam Ard on April 13, 1929 in Greenville.
Mrs. Ard was a homemaker. She was a member of Floyd Methodist Church.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law George Carroll and Glenda Ard of Wylie and Samuel Ray and Imogene Ard of Clinton; brother and sister-in-law G.E. and Marion Melton of Tyler; grandchildren Patti and Richard Baker, Leslie and Steve Jones, Shannon and Kevin Morgan, Krista and Dan Lewis, Stephen and Michelle Ard, Wade and Brenda Womack and Chad and Dani Womack and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
