DALLAS - Marjorie Fleming Mitchell of Dallas, formerly of Quinlan, died Saturday at her Autumn Leaves home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Quinlan Methodist Church in Quinlan. Burial isin the family plot at Brigham Cemetery in Campbell.
Mrs. Mitchell was born Oct. 3, 1916 in Voca. She received bachelor and master of science degrees in education from Texas Tech University. She served 18 months in Europe during World War II with the rank of Captain in the Women's Army Corps.
Mrs. Mitchell returned to Texas and taught home economics in Ralls and Lubbock, retiring in 1977 as Vocational Education Administrator for the Lubbock Independent School District.
She and her husband then moved to Quinlan where she became active in that community, serving as the first woman member of the Quinlan Methodist Church building committee. She had lived in Dallas for the past 14 months.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Norris of Dallas; grandchildren Sarah and James of Dallas; sisters Mildred Dixon of Waco and Martha Jane Morris of Denver, Colo. and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John Norris Mitchell of Campbell.
Pallbearers are Sarah Mitchell, James Mitchell, Marian Funderburk, James Curry, Sherrel Mulvaney, Allen Huckabee and Frank Fehmel.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the building fund of the Quinlan Methodist Church.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home in Quinlan.
Opal Steger
Ruth Opal Decker Hale Steger, 91, of Greenville died Sunday at her home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born Feb. 9, 1908 in Quinlan, daughter of Annie Williams Decker and Robert Owen Decker, who settled on Goose Creek in Hunt County in 1896. She married Claude H. Hale on Oct. 23, 1927 in Quinlan; he preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1967. She married J.D. Steger on June 6, 1969 in Greenville and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1971.
Mrs. Steger was a retired cattle rancher and homemaker, church clerk for the Friendship Baptist Church and was a charter member of the former Mexico Friendship Club. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Greenville.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth C. Hale of Greenville; a grandson, K. Kirk Hale of Richardson; a granddaughter, Holly and John Gotcher and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Owen N. "Boss" Decker, Hubert L. Decker and Ewin Decker and sisters Mae Dell Smith, Stella Lea Samford, Mildred Watkins and Jewell Willett.
Pallbearers are Clifton Smith, Robert Wayne Smith, George Shipp, Doyle Howle, Beno Smith and Robert Willett Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Chumley, Joe Bob Decker, Carson Hale, Steve Hale and Walter Thomas Hunt Jr.
Memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Dorothy Pearl Babb
Dorothy Pearl Babb, 71, of Campbell died Saturday in Deport. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Campbell with Rev. Robert Baldridge and Rev. Cary Kinnaird officiating. Burial will be in Brigham Cemetery.
Mrs. Babb was born on Nov. 4, 1927, in Wolfe Creek, Texas, to Albert and Juanita Taylor Williams. She married Delmar Dean Babb on May 10, 1947, in Greenville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Campbell.
Surviving are her husband; her mother, Juanita Taylor Williams of Campbell; a daughter, Karla Burke of Campbell; a son, Harvey M. Babb of Victoria; sisters Jessie Flowers of Duncanville, Tootsy Lovelace of Mesquite and Barbara Tippit of Greenville and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.
Ballbearers will be Jimmy Babb, Steve Tippit, Larry Tippit, Vick Flowers, Rick Flowers and Tim Lovelace. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Prince, W.B. Barnett, Harold Garrett, Wylie Cooper, Paul Babb and Billy Ford.

Joseph Brown
Joseph Brown of Greenville died Thursday. Services will be at 1 p.m. tuesday at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Aimes officiation. Burial will be in East Mount Cemetery.
He was born on Nov. 14, 1943, in Grleenville to George and Mary Brown. He attended Fred Douglas Elementary School and graduated from Carver High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1965.
Surviving are three aunts, Louise Peppers of Hooks, Dorothy Hurndon of Arlington and Ella Mae Moore of Daingerfield; uncles Leon James of Fort Worth and Robert James of California; a double cousin, Alma Jean Brown of Denver, Colo., and a sister-in-law, Betty Brown of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James N. Brown, and a sister, Billye Blaylack.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wilkerson, Roger Dale Smith, Ronnie Carter, Aubrey Elder, James Ashford and Wayne Polk.

Tena Dougherty
SULPHUR SPRINGS - Services for former Emory resident Mrs. Tena Dougherty, 81, of Sulphur Springs, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Murray-Orwasky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Earl Kerns officiating. Burial will be in the Dougherty Cemetery.
Mrs. Dougherty died Sunday morning in the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1917, in Ace to Thomas Arthur and Gracie Dowden Duke. She married Samuel Alford Dougherty on Feb. 23, 1931, in Durant, Okla.
Survivors are three daughters, Bobbye Blackmon of Sulphur Springs, Sammie Holthe of Atlus, Okla., and Diane Clayton of Greenville; two sisters, Velma Bender of Baytown and Dorothy Tamborelle of Houston; three brothers, Thomas Arthur Duke Jr. of Arlington, Bonnie Duke of Houston and Robert Edward Duke of Cashatta, La.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, two sons, three sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers are Jim Shivers, Sma Holthe, Clint Gowin, Avon Coates, Sam Robinson and Rogert Welch. John Holthe will be an honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Jenna Leeann Gracy
CADDO MILLS - Jenna Leeann Gracy, infant daughter of Jeremi and Jenny Lee Ashley Gracy of Caddo Mills, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rentfrow Funeral Home with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. Richard Hamm officiated.
She was born and died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Surviving are her parents and two sisters, Jamie Gracy and Jaylynn Gracy of Caddo Mills.
Pearl Shelton
FRIONA - Greenville native Pearl Shelton, 81, of Friona, died Friday in a Friona nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Friona with Rev. Don Boran and Dr. Ed Robb of Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery.
She was born on March 3, 1918, in Greenville. She married Ralph Shelton on March 12, 1938, in Hugo, Okla. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Friona and an active member of the UMW. She and her husband moved from Greenville to Friona on Dec. 26, 1952.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Kyle Shelton of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Tammi K. Drietz of Ivanhoe, MN.; two sisters, Annie Rayburn of Grand Saline and Nellie Parish of Dallas and four grandchildren.
The family asks memorials be made to Prairie Acres Nursing Home of Friona.
'Shorty' Thrash
Aurelius Y. "Shorty" Thrash of Greenville died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel AME Church with Elder Herbert Scott officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Neylandville.
Mr. Thrash was born in Greenville on March 19, 1947, to Aurelius Y. and Helen Dee Mallard Thrash. he married Theresa West on Sept. 18, 1969, in Neylandville. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of New Bethel CME Church of Neylandville.
Surviving are his wife; his parents; a grandmother, Susie Thrash of Neylandville; a daughter, Becky Washington of Greenville; two brothers, Norman W. Thrash of Dallas and Lynn Douglas Thrash of Neylandville; sisters Shirley Champion of Glenn Heights, Laverla Hayes of Dallas and Emily Lorraine Brown of Sugarland, and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Frank Hale, J.C. Rhoden, Willie Rhoden, Glenn Rhoden, Wayne Miles andGeorge Henry Jr.

CELESTE - Funeral services for Patricia (Pat) L. Gregory, 60, of Celeste, will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Celeste under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Dr. James Ralson and Rev. Bo Thompson officiating. Burial will be in McWright Cemetery. She died Friday in Greenville.
Born in Hunt County on Jan. 5, 1939, she was the daughter of J. H. Sargent and Beula Crain Bradshaw. She marred H. E. Gregory in Durant Okla. on Aug. 26, 1954. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church in Celeste.
She is survived by her mother, Beula Swindell of Greenville; two sons, Eugene Gregory of Lone Oak and Michael Gregory of Celeste; daughter Patsy Cowan of Fort Worth; brother Stanley Sargent of Fort Worth; grandchildren Cambra Colver, Shauna Cowan and Kristine Gregory and great-grandchildren Alexis Tolly, Christopher Holloway and Dalton Colver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on March 31, 1984 and by her father.

Funeral services for Dudley Austin Hayes, 62, of Greenville, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Glenn Cook Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Nance officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Bogata Cemetery in Bogata. He died Friday at his residence.
Born in Dallas on Jan. 1, 1937, he was the son of Jesse Lee Hayes and Ada Ellis Hayes. He married Jeanette Presswood in Dallas on July 2, 1954. He was a self-employed building contractor and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hayes of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Lynn and Allen Miller of Point, Debbie Elaine and Jim Henry of Grand Prairie and Kathie Sue Cook of Mesquite; brothers, Jesse Lee Hayes Jr. of West Attleboro, Mass., David Eugene Hayes of Dallas and Daniel Ray Hayes of Royse City; sisters, Billie Onita Wortham of Canton, Darlene Proctor of DeKalb, Peggy Love of Dallas, Brenda Chumbley of Little Elm, Trula Mae Russell of Aubry and Benny Anita DeMauro of Dallas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Johnny Evans of Greenville; grandchildren, Russell Miller, Shonnda Miller, Lisa Rojas, Michael Morgan, Mary Morgan, Lindi Morgan, Michelle Henry, Jimmy Henry Jr. and Jennifer Henry.

Dennis Holley
SULPHUR SPRINGS - Funeral services for Dennis R. Holley, 71, of Sulphur Springs will be 2 p.m. today at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Commerce. He died Friday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Commerce on July 5, 1927, he was the son of Addison and Mary Imer Woodard Holley. He married Betty Follis Jetton in Hugo, Okla. on Nov. 1, 1978.
Holley had resided in Hopkins County since 1978 where he had served as a deputy sheriff from 1978 until 1987. Holley was the former Police Chief in Farmersville and had been employed in law enforcement for 30 years, from 1957 until 1987, having served in Greenville, Richardson, Plano, and Sulphur Springs.
He was a member of South Liberty Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, of Sulphur Springs; two sons, Randy Holley of Garland and Darryl Holley of Plano; two step-sons, Ricky Jetton of Sulphur Springs and Jerry Jetton of Winnsboro; one step-daughter, Joy Shing of Sulphur Springs; one sister, Frances McFarland of Rockwall and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by four brothers and four sisters.

Jim Johnson
FARMERSVILLE - Graveside services for Jim Ed Johnson, 32, of Farmersville, will be 11 a.m. Monday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. He died Friday in Princeton.
Born in Sacramento, Calif. on Sept. 20, 1966, he was the son of Edgar and Glenda Johnson. He married Rhonda Johnson in McKinney on Oct. 31, 1996. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a plumber and a Methodist.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Johnson of Anna; his parents, Edgar and Glenda Johnson of Farmersville and his grandparents, Glenn and Louise Miller of Melissa.

Ruth Richardson
Graveside services for Ruth Boles Richardson, 80, of Greenville, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas with Rev. Jeff Fisher officiating. She died Friday in Greenville.
Born in Streetman on May 8, 1918, she was the daughter of George and Lena Whitehead Sherrard. She married Joe Richardson on Aug. 16, 1975. She was a retired beauty operator and a member of Merit Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Richardson of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Kenneth Wright of Merit and Doris and Larry Donihoo of McKinney; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Phyllis Richardson of Blue Ridge and Dick and Sharon Richardson of Josephine; sisters Ruby Boles of Rowlett (twin) and Lena Holley of Houston; brother, Russell Sherrard of Houston; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

David Sikes
ROCKWALL - Funeral services for David Thrasher Sikes, 58, of Rockwall, will be 2:30 p.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall with Rev. Fred Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. He died Friday.
Born on Nov. 26, 1940, he was the son of L. B. T. and Geraldine Sikes. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rockwall and had worked as an engineer with Raytheon E-Systems in Greenville, retiring in October of 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Gay Sikes of Rockwall; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jeannie Sikes of Poetry; mother Geraldine Sikes of San Angelo; brother Richard Sikes of San Angelo; sister Betsy Sikes of Pecos and grandchildren Kyle Sikes and Brittney Sturrock of Poetry.

Geraldine Thurman
LEONARD - Graveside services for Geraldine Thurman, 92, of Leonard, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Rev. Wally Williams and Charles Wrenn officiating. She died Friday in Leonard Nursing Home.
Born in Chalk Mountain on Nov. 7, 1906, she was the daughter of Will West and Annie Hamic West. She marred Roy Thurman in Celeste in 1926. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1988. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Leonard and a homemaker.
She is survived by a brother, Tom West of Raymondville; sisters, Molly Macon and Allene McClendon, both of Leonard and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dan West, Tommy West, Fred Gaulden, Eugene Kegans, Dr. Allen Spies and W. C. Griffitt.

Rachel Chaffin
Rachel Nicole Chaffin, 16, of Cordova, Tenn. died Wednesday at her residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Ross Worley officiating. Burial is in Sullivan Cemetery in Campbell.
The daughter of Marvin Isaac Chaffin and Shelly Lynn Glasscock, she was born Dec. 8, 1982 in Atlanta. She was a student and was a member of First Baptist Church in Moores Lane, Texarkana, Tex.
Surviving are her father and stepmother, Marvin Isaac and Crystal Chaffin of Texarkana; mother and stepfather, Shelly Lynn and Mike Tobin of Cordova, Tenn.; grandparents Charles and Bess Glasscock of Celeste, M.B. and Dorothia Chaffin of Campbell, Mill and B.C. Cobb of Heafer, Ark., Ernest Tobin of San Antonio and Dorothy Price of New Boston; a brother, Jacob Chaffin of Arkadelphia, Ark.; stepbrothers Chris Tobin and Troy Tobin, both of Cordova, Tenn. and Sean Bellotte of Texarkana, Tx. and three stepsisters, Beth Tobin of Columbus, Ohio, Shannon Bellotte of Texarkana and Amanda Glover.
