LEONARD - Erwin E. "Jack" Heller, 76, of Leonard, died Saturday in the Leonard Nursing Home. No service is planned.
Born in Nettleton, Ark. on May 29, 1922, he was the son of Frank and Mary Nelson Heller. He married Virginia Middleswart in Lebanon, Mo., on March 15, 1947. He was a Methodist and was retired from the Frisco Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Jen Heller of Leonard; daughter Cindy Kaufman of Leonard; son Randy Heller of Denison; sister, Peggy Goins of Vidor; brothers, Joe Heller of Roscoe, Ill. and Steve Heller of Hammond, La. and one grandson.
Memorials may be made to Home Hospice.

CADDO MILLS - Milton James "Rooster" Hughes, 83, of Caddo Mills died Friday at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rentfrow Funeral Home in Caddo Mills with Ray Hunter, Tim Rector and Danny Davis officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Born Aug. 1, 1915 in Paradise Community, he was the son of Clarence Elvin and Clemie Woodall Hughes. On June 28, 1931, he married Mary Bostick in Vansickle. Mr. Hughes was a press operator for Mann Made.
Survivors include his wife of Caddo Mills; a son, Don Hughes of Wylie; two daughters, Peggy McAbee and Cecilia Ayers of Caddo Mills; a brother, J. W. Hughes of Caddo Mills; sisters, Birdie Pitts and Betty McCasland of Caddo Mills and Wanda McCasland of Rockwall; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Odessa Burkett; a brother, Clarence Hughes and twin grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Burkett, Steve Hughes, Jerry Sumrow, Kenneth McCasland, Ronnie McCasland and Jimmy Wayne Hughes.
Edgar Humphries
SHERMAN - Services for Edgar H. "Ed" Humphries, 78, of Commerce, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Houston Garner officiating. Burial will be in the West Hill Cemetery. He died Friday at the Dallas V. A. Hospital.
Born in Savoy on Sept. 2, 1920, he was the son of Joseph Edgar and Laura Ethel O'Daniel Humphries. He graduated from Grayson County College. He married Dorothy Marie Hornsby on Dec. 21, 1947 in Sherman.
He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict, was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He was employed a a security guard.
He was a member of the V. F. W. and was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Humphries of Commerce; sons, Ed Humphries of Atlanta, Ga. and Terry Humphries of Commerce; daughter Debbie Adkins of Greenville; mother, Lois Humphries of Whitewright; half-brother, Wilbert Humphries of Austin; step-brothers, Joe Smith of Farmersville; step-sisters, Helen Nobles of Houston and Jeanette Hall of Layne, Okla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 735, Sherman, Texas, 75091.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
William Kerby
LAVON - Graveside services for William Berman Kerby, 88, of Lavon, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Royse City Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Bridges and the Tannehill Masonic Lodge officiating. He died Friday.
Born in Farmersville on Aug. 5, 1910, he was the son of John Ed and Cora Rollins Kerby. He married Cleo McGee on Oct. 9, 1961, and she preceded him in death on May 23, 1989. He was a member of Royse City Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the Tannehill Masonic Lodge No. 52. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Regina Borchardt of Lavon; son, Berman Mark Kerby of Rowlett; sister, Ladia Backus of Campbell; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Royse City, which is in charge of arrangements.
George Thomson
George Linn "Wink" Thomson, 58, of Greenville died Thursday at Baylor Hospital of Dallas. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Monday at Peniel Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Marvin McDaniel and Rev. John Davis officiating. A headstone will be placed in Progress, Texas.
Mr. Thomson's body has been donated to Southwestern Medical School.
Son of John William Thomson and Ada Alexander, he was born Feb. 10, 1941 in Ingleside. He was a plastics and diecast engineer for HPM Corporation. Mr. Thomson was a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Texas.
He is survived by a son, Dennis Paul Thomson of Alabama; a daughter, Kendra JoLynn Thomson of Bethany, Okla.; a brother, Jim Thomson of King George, Va.; three sisters, Jon Ann Crow, Pat Hicks and Kaye Long, all of Canyon and one grandchild, David Paul Thomson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Thomson.

Kathy L. Teague, 32, of Princeton, died Friday in a McKinney hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fielder-Baker Chapel in Farmersville with Rev. R.B. Reed officiating. Burial will be in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1967, to Thadis Maddox and Ida Samples Stracener. She was employed in the home health care business.
Surviving are a daughter, Tiffany Teague of Princeton; son Chris Moyer and his father Paul Moyer of Princeton; her mother of Princeton and brothers Billy Maddox and Ricky Maddox of Princeton.
Wilma Day Wyatt
Wilma Day Wyatt of Princeton died Friday in a McKinney hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Step of Faith Church in Farmersville with Rev. Rick Riddle and Rev. Mike Teeples officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Princeton.
She was born in Climax on Dec. 8, 1927, to Tonce and Belva McAdams Daniels. She married Bill Wyatt on Dec. 24, 1943, in McKinney. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of Step of Faith Church and was employed by Haggar Pant Company.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Margaret Ann Cox of Princeton; sisters Opal McDonald of Copeville and Bettey Helen Payton of Fort Worth; a brother, Roy Lee Daniels of Seven Points; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Field-Baker Funeral Home.

Daughter of Bob and Ellen Bryant, she was born Nov. 2, 1910 in Galveston. She married Jim Lyons Boughton on Aug. 28, 1925 in Rockwall. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Boughton was a member of Copeville Baptist Church.

Eleanor L. Murphy
LEONARD - Services for Eleanor L. Murphy, 81, of Leonard, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Leonard with Wally Williams officiating. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery in Trenton. Mrs. Murphy died Thursday in a Denison healthcare facility.
She was born April 26, 1918, in Trenton, the oldest of eight children of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Wilson. She graduated from Trenton High School and attended the University of North Texas and Draughns Business College in Sherman. She was married to Ray Murphy on April 24, 1943, in Madison, Wisc., where he was stationed as an instructor in the United States Army. Upon his discharge they moved to Sherman where she worked at First National Bank before moving to Leonard.
The Murphys owned and operated Murphy Chevrolet before retiring at Lake Palestine and Lake Fork. They moved back to Leonard before his death in 1991. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a member of the administrative board.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt Wilson and Marilyn Wilson of Memphis, Tenn; sisters and brothers-in-law Dortha and Don Kehn of Houston of Marble Falls and Jane and Sam Oliphant of Wichita Falls, Joan Wilson of Richardson and Mary Murphy of Leonard and nieces and nephews Jim and Melalee Camak of Irving, Cindy and Joe A. Stacey of Roanoke, Kelli and Bob Henderson of Southlake, Mark and Tammy Wilson of Flower Mound, David and Jackie Kehn of Colorado Springs, Colo., Donnie Kehn of Houston, John and Sheila Curlin of Wichita Falls, Jay and Donna Curlin of Austin, Carol and Jonathan Bow of Austin and Donnie and Karen Murphy of Leonard. SULPHUR SPRINGS - Services for Lois Reed, 72, of Sulphur Springs will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Murray-Orwasky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Springs Cemetery. She died Friday in a Hopkins County hospital.
Mrs. Reed was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Sulphur Springs to Elic and Jessie Lawthorn Hamiter. She married E.C. Clifford Reed on Jan. 11, 1944, in Reilly Springs. She was a member of the Davis Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Reed of Sulphyur Springs; a daughter, Laquita Horne of Sulphur Springs, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, and a son, Billy Eugene Reed.
Pallbearers will be Junior Hinton, Don Willie, Ricky Gammill, Reed Gammill, Danny Reed, Joe Reed and Morris Reed.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Giles
DUNEDIN, Fla. - Elizabeth "Liz" Hooker Giles, 83, of Dunedin, Fla., died May 8.
Graveside services are pending, but will not be prior to June 15, when her ashes will be buried beside her father, John Hooker, in the Hooker Ridge Cemetery in Lone Oak. Notification will be given about the service.
She was married to Sidney L. Giles and after retiring in Dallas, they moved to Dunedin, Fla. Her father was the grandson of Judge James Hooker who surveyed most of Northeast Texas and led in organizing the City of Greenville. He also established the site of the Courthouse for Hunt County in Greenville.
Her husband preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1995.

QUINLAN - Edgar "Edd" Jonas of Quinlan died Monday in Dallas. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church with Ron McDonald officiating. Burial is in Hooker Ridge Cemetery.
Born Dec. 22, 1929 in San Antonio, he was the son of Dan Frank Jonas and Bertha Mae Long.
Mr. Jonas was a truck driver. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Lellione "Lola" Jonas of Quinlan; sons, Tony Lynn Young of Wills Point, Tracy Myrle Young of Daingerfield, Curtiss Dawayne Young of Bogata, Michael Edward Young of Pottsboro, Eddie Dean Jonas of Lewisville, Danny Joe Jonas of Krum and James Stephen Jonas of Sanger; daughters, Mary Jonas Vest of Celina, Angela Denise Penny of Hughes Springs, Sandra Sanders of Daingerfield and Susan Renee Harris of Hughes Springs; brothers, Lewis Jonas of Indianapolis, Ind., R.B. He was born in DeKalb, Miss. to James Barefield and Mary MacArthur. On Sept. 31, 1931 he married Mary Elgie Davis in DeKalb, Miss.
Mr. Barefield received his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a master's degree from the University of Houston. He was a minister, a school principal, a basketball coach and a chemist.
Surviving are a son, Donald Ray Barefield of Mesquite; daughters Betty Watson and Peggy Dean Hardy of Royse City and Patsy Self of Caddo Mills; two sisters, Louise Fulton of Philadelphia, Miss. and Jimmie Jewel Terrell of Beaumont; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Benjamin Barefield and a sister, Chestene Barefield.
Pallbearers are James Ray Bird, Andy Barefield, Jay Self, Danny Barefield, Kenneth Hardy and Brett Bird.

Charles Caughlan
LEONARD - Memorial services for Charles Kendall Caughlan, 70, of Leonard are at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Bonham. There is a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park in McKinney.
He died Tuesday at his residence.
Born Sept. 10, 1928 in Fairfield, Iowa, he was the son of Willis Vern Caughlan and Lona Grace Koons Caughlan. He married Peggy Smith on Sept. 10, 1949 in San Antonio.
Mr. Caughlan was retired from the Air Force. He was a Catholic.
He is survived by his wife of Leonard; sons Michael Caughlan, Larry Caughlan and Mark Caughlan, all of Leonard, Charles Caughlan Jr. of Wylie and John Caughlan of Anna; daughters Inalynn Terry of Melissa, Peggy Susan Sherman of Austin and Kimberly Triplett of Dallas; a sister, Marian Umsted of Missouri; brothers Jack Caughlan of Cleveland, Mo. and Tom Caughlan of Kentucky and 14 grandchildren.

Patricia Elkins
AUSTIN - Patricia "Patsy" Crouch Elkins, 78, of Austin, formerly of Greenville, died March 14 after a sudden illness. There was a private burial.
Mrs. Elkins was born in Killeen on Jan. 10, 1921; she grew up in Killeen. She lived in Dallas and Greenville before moving to Austin.
She was married to William F. Elkins for 54 years; he was a former mayor of Greenville.
Surviving are a sister, Virginia Crouch Vincent; a brother, Larry Crouch; five children, Billy Elkins of London, England; Ellen Elkins Grimes of Houston, Patricia Elkins of Philadelphia, Pa. and Steve Elkins and Mike Elkins, both of Austin and 11 grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death.
