Yvonne Bass

EMORY - Yvonne Bass, 69, of Yantis died Saturday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arlis Banks officiating. Burial is in Yantis Cemetery.

Mrs. Bass was born July 12, 1929, in McKinney; the daughter of Artemix and Lula Mae Pruitt Redden. She was married to R.D. Bass on Jan. 24, 1975, in Abilene.

Mrs. Bass was a retired electronic assembler at LTV and a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are son, Danny Knox of Yantis; daughters, Dianne Short and Sherry Davis, both of Garland; step-sons, Craig Bass of Fort Worth and Daniel Bass of Hurst; step-daughter, Janie Balders of Bossier, La.; brother, Raymond Redden of Farmersville; sisters, Kathleen Sanders of Houston and Wanda Drake of Waco; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 25, 1999.

Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.

Mary Clarke

HUBBARD - Mary Etta Clarke, 97, of Hubbard died Saturday in Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L.E. Crabtree officiating. Burial is in Coolidge Cemetery in Hubbard.

Mrs. Clarke was born Nov. 23, 1901, in Normangee; the daughter of Lee Charles and Rhonda Spikes Green. She was married to Charles A. Clarke on July 3, 1920, in Dawson.

She was a seamstress and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hubbard.

Surviving are a son, Thurman Clarke of Hillsboro; daughter and son-in-law, Addie and Gordon Etheredge of Quinlan; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 9, 1978.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Willie Hogan

LEONARD - Willie Eugene Hogan, 53, of Leonard died Saturday at his residence. Burial is in the Leonard Cemetery following cremation.

Mr. Hogan was born Nov. 2, 1945, in Dallas; the son of Willie Dalanie Hogan Jr. and Nina Walls. He worked in maintenance at an apartment complex.

Surviving are his mother of Leonard; and two daughters, Joy Williams and Kay Edwards.

Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James Lowry Jr.

James DeFee "Jake" Lowry Jr., 66, of Keller died Saturday at North Richland Hills. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Bill Reisor officiating. Burial is in Webb Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Lowry was born Nov. 8, 1932, in the White Rock community; the son of James DeFee and Nattie Byrd Lowry Sr. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired quality control engineer for Raytheon.

A former Greenville resident, Mr. Lowry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville and an avid golfer at Oak Creek Country Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Janea Lowry of Keller; a grandson, Austin Lowry; brother and sister-in-law, William F. and Frankie Lowry of Bells; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nita and Bill Reisor of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his father on June 8, 1983, and his mother on Nov. 10, 1983.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Green, Gary Reisor, Robert Lowry, Ronnie Tidwell, William F. Lowry II, Richard Hester, Gregory Reisor and Reginald Martin.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2910 Swiss Avenue, Dallas 75204.

Audrey Causey

Audrey Mae Causey, 74, of Greenville died Saturday at her residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Mrs. Causey was born in Center Point on Aug. 13, 1924, the daughter of Joseph Allen Burchett and Retha Dennington Burchett. She married Albert Causey Sept. 25, 1938 in Caddo Mills. She was retired from a Greenville pant manufacturer. She was a member of North Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband of Greenville; a son Kenneth Causey of Wolfe City; two daughters Kathy Frazier of Greenville and Linda Taylor of Henderson; five brothers, Robert Burchett, of Trinity, Jimmy Burchett of Mesquite, Edward Burchett of Shreveport, La., Roy Burchett of Oklahoma, and Jerald Eason of Greenville; two sisters, Bonnie Ligon of Forney and Betty McGuffey of Mesquite; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Delores Causey.

Pallbearers are Byron Frazier, Scott Causey, Cary Politoski, Keith Morgan, Milow Klein, Cole Fuller, and Josh Johnson.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.

Jesse Chambliss

Jesse Edmond Chambliss, 77, of Fairfield died Thursday at his residence. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. Denmen McElroy officiating.

Mr. Chambliss was born in Greenville on April 3, 1922, the son of Louis Edmond Chambliss and LaVeda Barker. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a truck driver for Red Arrow and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Edmond Boyd Chambliss of Houston; a daughter, Judy K. Kirkland of Carrollton; a brother, William Cleveland Chambliss of Louisiana; two sisters, Dorothy Doris Lott of Malakoff and Florence Marie Couch of Garland; and five grandchildren.

Louis Duncan Jr.

HOUSTON - Louis Ellis Duncan Jr., 70, died Thursday. Services will be at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.

Mr. Duncan was born in Greenville in 1929. He served in the Marine Corps in 1945-46. In 1952, he graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce with top honors and a commission in the U.S. Air Force. He served in Korea as Navigator/Bombardier in 1952-53 and received two Flying Crosses.

He worked for Stewart & Stevenson, Services for 28 years, serving as petroleum sales engineer and later, manager of offshore drilling. Most recently he was a mortgage broker.

Survivors include a son, David Duncan of Houston; a daughter, Sue of Austin; former wife Ava Duncan of Houston; a sister, Willie Gillespie of Palacios; three brothers, Gordon Duncan of Dallas, Gary Duncan of Trenton and Danny Duncan of Commerce; and one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lindsey Gumz College Fund, 357 N. Post Oak, Houston, Texas 77024.

Gerald Hazlewood

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Gerald J. (Squirrel) Hazlewood, 63, of Dike, died Thursday in Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Bennett Cemetery at Dike with Rev. Woodrow Kirby officiating.

Mr. Hazlewood was born in Commerce April 21, 1936, the son of William Alva (Boss) Hazlewood and Tulia Koonce Hazlewood. He graduated from Commerce High School. He married Jean Bennett and was self-employed.

Survivors include a daughter Kimberly Willhite of Dike; four brothers, William R. Hazlewood of Taft, Calif., Herman Hazlewood of Bonham, Royal Hazlewood of Sulphur Springs and Bob Hazlewood of Dallas; one sister, Lizzie Nell Morris of Winnsboro; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994; two brothers, R. D. Hazlewood and Lewis Hazlewood; and by two sisters, Mary Kate Phillips and Blanche (Tiny) Prim.

Pallbearers are Don Gowen, Johnny Chester, Squirrel Wills, Mark Baker, Russell Mannon and Gene George. Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Edwards, Archie Collins, Pat Potts, Randy McMahan, Max Baxter and Bill Thomas.

West Oaks Funeral Home, Inc. in Sulphur Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Carrie Roberts

FARMERSVILLE - Carrie I. Roberts, 98, of Farmersville died Saturday at Hinton Nursing Home in Farmersville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Fielder-Baker Chapel in Farmersville with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville.

She was born Oct. 10,1900 in Cullman, Ala., the daughter of James Henrey and Sarah Jane Haynes Roberts. She was a seamstress and a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving is one sister, Marie Ivey of Dallas.

Ruby T. Turner

COMMERCE - Graveside services for Ruby T. Turner, 86, of Commerce will be at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cumby with Rev. Delbert Watson officiating. Mrs. Turner died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce.

She was born in German, Texas, on Dec. 12, 1912, to Samuel D. and Jesse Lee McWilliams Kennedy. She married William Joe Duke on April 12, 1932.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby Jo and Orval Talley of Albuquerque, N.M.; sons and daughters-in-law William Theodore and Helen Duke of Roswell, N.M., and Donny Wayne and Paula Wier of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, J.W. Ledbetter Jr.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Jones-Walker Funeral Home.

Travilla Williams

Travilla Williams, 86, of Greenville, died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Howard Strickland and Curtis Williams officiating. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas.

Born Feb. 24, 1913 in Dallas County, he was the son of Joe Williams and Julia Roberson Williams. On Nov. 9, 1935, he married Jewell Burkett in Mesquite. Mr. Williams was a self-employed carpenter. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife of Greenville; son and daughter-in-law, Willis M. and Sherial Williams of Greenville; daughter, Sue Shiels of Greenville; granddaughter and husband, Diana and Norland Crow; grandson and wife, Curtis and Robin Williams and great-grandchildren Matthew Williams, Dylan Williams and Ashley Crow.

Pallbearers are Harold Burkett, Billy Burkett, Billy Roesler, Jack Burkett and Harry Garrlngton, Norland Crow. Honorary pallbearer is J.E. Burkett.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.

Virgil Jones

CONROE - Graveside services for Virgil Rene Jones of Conroe, formerly of Greenville, were at 10 a.m. Monday at County Line Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Weeks officiating.

She died at her home June 23.

She was born Jan. 14, 1941 in McKinney. On Feb. 12, 1963 she married Arbin Wayne Jones in Dallas.

Surviving are her husband of Conroe; son Jimmy Roberts of Wichita, Kan.; daughters Sharon Casey, Vonda Jones Courtney and Holly Jones, all of Conroe; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Arbin Wayne Jones Jr.

Cashner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lucille McCormack

Lucille Baker McCormack of Garland, formerly of Greenville, died Monday at her residence. There is a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memoryland Memorial Park. Rev. Lyndol Adams will officiate.

The daughter of James B. Baker and Etta Dunn Baker, she was born June 15, 1912 in Brashear. On Aug. 14, 1937 she married Louis A. McCormack Sr. Mrs. McCormack was a Baptist.

Surviving are daughters Loretta Sellers of Bells and Vicki Reaves of Garland; grandchildren, Birl Randall Watkins Jr. and wife Mary, Lawana Merriman and husband David, Brian Watkins and Jason Reaves and great-grandchildren Michael Watkins and fiancee Elizabeth, John Randall Watkins, Kristin Morris, Amber Morris, Daniel Watkins, Kyle Watkins, Mary Elizabeth Watkins and MacKenzie Merriman.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Louis A. McCormack Jr. and son-in-law Robert A. Sellers.

Visitation is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Iliff Warren

DALLAS - Iliff V. Warren, 78, formerly of Greenville, died Monday in Dallas. There is a graveside service at 1 p.m. today at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville with Rev. Mark Ferrish officiating.

He was born March 7, 1921 in Wolfe City to William E. Warren and Rausie Lloyd. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Warren worked in shipping and receiving of aviation parts.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Tommie Warren; a daughter, Gaye Richardson; a sister, Alene Hall; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Eastgate Funeral Home of Garland is in charge of arrangements.

J.L. Green Sr.

Funeral services for J.L. Green Sr. of Quinlan are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Quinlan with Rev. Ben Smith, Rev. Larry Tinsley and Rev. David Hammond officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Mr. Green died Monday at his residence.

The son of James Thomas Green and Bessie Adkisson Green, he was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Hunt County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Green worked for Quinlan Lumber Co. and he was a builder.

Mr. Green was a member of First Baptist Church in Quinlan. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Nell Green of Quinlan; sons and daughters-in-law J.L. Green Jr. and Teya Green of Greenville; Larry and Frances Green of Greenville, Ronnie and Elizabeth Green of Greenville and Paul and Debby Kramer of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Robert Wussow of Plano and 10 grandchildren.

Two sisters preceded him in death.

Pallbearers are Dale Smith, Beno Smith, Howard Winans, Mike Downing, Billy Green and Ashton Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Arlee Butler, Paul Blair, John Cobb, Bill Ellington, W.H. Ford Jr., Eudene Green, Pete Rice and J.T. Turner Jr.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Roger Green

LONE OAK - Roger L. Green, 56, of Greenville died at his residence Sunday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lone Oak Baptist Church with Benny Chaffin and Robert Self officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery.

The son of Thurman and Edna Rogers Green, he was born April 9, 1943 in Burrow. He was a self-employed cattle rancher and was a carrier for the Greenville Herald Banner for nine years. He had lived in Greenville since 1952.

Surviving are a son, Shawn Glen Green of Greenville; two brothers, Ronald Green of Greenville and Ralph Green of Caddo Mills; and one grandchild.

His parents preceded him in death.

Pallbearers are Jerry Dickeson, Jimmy Dickeson, Gary Dickeson, Dewayne Dickeson, Royce Ray and George Gora. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Foster, Steven Ray and Jim Dickeson.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Bartley Funeral Home of Lone Oak.
