Mary E. Singleton of Gainesville died Friday at a Gainesville hospital. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Old Mount Olive Baptist Church in Gainesville with Rev. C.T. Tucker officiating. Burial is in East Mount Cemetery in Greenville.
The daughter of Hardy and Gertrude Carr Calhoun, she was born Dec. 1, 1931 in Okmulgee, Okla. She married Arthur Singleton in 1963 in Sherman. Mrs. Singleton worked as a cook. She was a member of Old Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Lewis of Richmond, Calif. and James Lewis of Gainesville; six daughters, Carolyn Jones and Evelyn Williams, both of Gainesville, Claudia Hardemon of Greenville, Edna Singleton of Irving and Wanda Lee and Dena Singleton, both of Dallas; two brothers, H.C. Calhoun of Sacramento, Calif. and Leroy Calhoun of Denton; two sisters, Ella Kidd and Gertie Calhoun, both of Gainesville; 24 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and a brother.
Friends of the family are pallbearers.

Milton Patterson
Milton Ray Patterson, 71, of Greenville died Friday at his residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Church of God in Christ with Rev. Bobby Crosby officiating. Burial is in East Mount Cemetery.
Mr. Patterson was born July 1, 1928, in Gilmer; the son of Cornelius and Mary Jeffrey Patterson. He married Roberta Griffin on Jan. 1, 1960, in Greenville.
Mr. Patterson was a sanitation worker and a member of the Shiloh Church of God in Christ.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons, John Watt of Greenville and Jasper Ross Jr. of Dallas; brothers, R.C. Patterson of Dallas and Coy Lee Patterson of Greenville; sisters, Virginia Peoples and Annie Lou Perkins, both of Dallas, and Mildred Patterson of Greenville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Donald Hill
Donald Ray Hill, 54, of West Tawakoni died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Coker-Mathews Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating.
Mr. Hill was born Oct. 4, 1944, in Lewisville to Raymond T. Hill and Neva Louise Henderson Hill. He was a former merchandising clerk with Archard Pharmacy.
Survivors include his parents of Emory, brothers Thomas Wayne Hill of Anderson, S.C., and Rick Lynn Hill of Carrollton, sister Deborah Meyers of Emory and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Roxie Hernan.
Annie Botts
Annie Mary Botts, 94, of Caddo Mills died Tuesday at Terrell Care Center. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, Ky. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro.
Born Sept. 9, 1904 in Daviess County, Ky., she was the daughter of George W. Botts and Blanche Mitchusson. She was a retired teacher. She also retired from the State of Kentucky where she was over the state's school lunch program.
Miss Botts was a member of South Frankfort Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, Ky. She was a member of Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappi Delta Phi and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are a nephew, George N. Botts of Caddo Mills and a great-niece, Mary Botts of Greenville.
A brother preceded her in death.

James Mayfield, 40, of West Tawakoni died Tuesday at his residence. Graveside services were Thursday at Memoryland Memorial Park with Dr. Raymond Anderson Boulter Jr. officiating.
Mr. Mayfield was born in Elk City, Okla. on July 5, 1959 to Jim Burnett and Ruby Burnett. He was a woodworker for Vintage Wood Works in Quinlan.
Surviving are his parents of Longview; a son, Lucas Mayfield of Greenville; daughter Randi Lea Mayfield of Greenville and a sister, Debbie Johnson of Mesquite.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Lula Lorance
Lula Belle Lorance of Richardson, longtime Farmersville resident, died Tuesday. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. today at the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville with Rev. Miller McClure and Rev. Bart Barber officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery in Copeville.
Born July 2, 1918 in Roswell, Ga., she was the daughter of William Garner and Martha V. Lingenfelt Garner. On Dec. 24, 1936 she married Robert D. Lorance in Celeste. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Farmersville.
Mrs. Lorance is survived by daughters Bobbie VanDusen of Bellaire, Betty Nicholson of Farmersville and Mary Rose Lorance of Austin; a son, Jerry Don Lorance of Farmersville; sisters Mae Bowers and Bertie Smith of Garland and Jean Doyle of North Richland Hills; a brother, Roy Garner of Madera, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Larry Thorn
FARMERSVILLE - Graveside services for Larry Bob Thorn, 53, of Greenville will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Salem Cemetery in Alba. Rev. William Potts will officiate.
Mr. Thorn died Wednesday.
Son of Artist Thorn and Annie May Roberts Thorn, he was born Jan. 1, 1946 in Lindale. He and Colleen Bennett were married Feb. 3, 1992.
Survivors include his wife of Tyler; his mother of Mineola and a sister, Joy Hughes of Farmersville.

Albert Granberry
CELESTE - Hunt County native and civic leader Albert Granberry of Dallas, died Monday in Dallas. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today with Rev. James Ralson and Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Burial is in Celeste Cemetery.
The son of S.R. and Estelle Granberry, he was born May 28, 1919, in Celeste. He married Frances Martin on April 12, 1969 in Celeste.
Mr. Granberry served in the U.S. Navy for three and a half years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste.
Mr. Granberry was president of the First National Bank in Celeste for 25 years (now First Bank of Celeste). He served as the mayor of Celeste and was on the city council. He was a member of the Hunt County Salvation Army Advisory Board.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and was a 50-year member of Miller Masonic Lodge 224 in Celeste in which he was a Past Master. He also served as a charter member and past president of the Celeste Lions Club.
Mr. Granberry was a member of Webb Hill Country Club and was a former treasurer of Celeste Cemetery.
Surviving are a stepson, Col. David Martin, retired, and wife Carol of Canton; brother , Cliff Granberry and wife Mary Helen of Dallas; sister Lorraine Lovell and husband Calvin of Dallas; sister Lucille Gholston and husband Noble of Carthage; sister-in-law Jill Granberry of Stephenville; two grandsons, Brent and Blake Martin of Canton; one great-grandchild and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1979; parents; two brothers, T.C. and Robert and one sister, Ruth Granberry.
Pallbearers are Bob Barnard, David Kent, Jimmy Williams, John Myers, John Mize and Bill Barnard. Honorary pallbearers are Gaston Alexander, Cody Pope, Brad Sloan, Chad Spiers and Larry Rowell.

Charlene Fain
DALLAS - Charlene Shoulders Baggese Fain of Garland, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday of cancer at her residence. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 3204 Fairmount, with chaplain Henry Rogers officiating.
She was born in Dallas to Thomas and Dorothy Shoulders and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She married Joseph "Sonny" August Baggese Jr. of Dallas and they were married for 19 years.
She received an Associate's Degree in Child Development and owned a childcare business for two years. She spent most of her professional life in the film industry and was currently employed by Sony Pictures Entertainment as a booker.
On July 20, 1991 she married John Stephen Fain in Campbell where they lived for six years. She was active in city service and was the first woman to be elected to the city council; she served two terms. She was also active in community service organizations.
Mrs. Fain was a longtime member of Women of the Motion Picture Industry International (W.O.M.P.I.) and held many offices, including president of the Dallas Chapter and secretary of the W.O.M.P.I. International.
Mrs. Fain was a volunteer for the organization's fundraising efforts, as well as for Variety Club and Dallas Federation of Women's Club (D.F.W.C.). She and her husband moved to Garland in November 1997.
Surviving are her husband; two children, Stephani L. Baggese and Joseph "Trey" August Baggese III and three sisters, Jean Hurst, Linda Young and Iris Figg.

Jeromy Mulanax II
QUINLAN - Memorial services for Jeromy Carroll Mulanax II are at the First Assembly of God in Quinlan from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Jeromy was stillborn on July 14 in Greenville.
Surviving are parents Jeromy and Casey Mulanax of Quinlan; grandparents Doug and Sheila Garner; great-grandparents Pat and Ed Pate and Jim and Janet Foster and a sister, Heather Jo Mulanax of Quinlan.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Justim C. Mulanax.

Hattie Jean Kimbell Pompa, 81, of Campbell died at her residence Sunday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Campbell with Rev. Robert Sexton and Rev. Cary Kinnaird officiating. Burial is in Brigham Cemetery.
The daughter of Charles Henry and Laura Lou Taylor Kimbell, she was born Sept. 28, 1917 in Campbell. She married Miguel Pompa on April 13, 1949 in Rockwall.
Mrs. Pompa was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church of Campbell. She was a published poet and historian and co-authored "Honorable Mention Early Families Hunt County Texas."
Surviving are her husband of Campbell; daughter, Laura Jean Turner Bankston of Campbell; sister, Wilda Kimbell Abbott of Campbell; a sister-in-law, Charlene Kimbell of Campbell; grandchildren, Kim and Don Whyte of Hallsville and Robin and Jeff Wheat of Cumby; great-grandchildren Taylor Whyte, Wade Whyte and Mitchell Wheat and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles H. Kimbell Jr. in 1995 and a granddaughter Paige Bankston in 1976.

Leland Smith
FARMERSVILLE - Funeral services for Leland "Doc" Smith, 77, of Garland were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville with Rev. Mike Massey officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
He died Saturday at Baylor Hospital of Garland.
Born March 24, 1927 in Culleoka, he was the son of Arthur Smith and Jessie Campbell Smith. On April 20, 1946 he married Etta Jo Hockett in Farmersville. He was employed by Roach Feed and Seed.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of Garland; daughters, Patsy Jo Starr of Kemp and Diane McLeroy of Garland; a son, Billy Wayne Smith of Garland; sisters Doris Wisdom of Farmersville and Jenny Lynn Miller of Sherman; a brother, Leon Smith of Farmersville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Derek Tanton
EMORY - Derek Tanton, 23, of Emory died Monday in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Wilds and Rev. John Robinson officiating. Burial is in Emory City Cemetery.
Mr. Tanton was born Nov. 13, 1975, in Sulphur Springs; the son of Morris E. Susan Foster Tanton. He married Lorelei Ellington on May 16, 1998, in Point. He was employed in manufacturing and was a member of the Assembly of Yahvah.
Surviving are his wife of Emory; father and step-mother, Morris and Debra Tanton of Oklahoma; mother and step-father, Susan and Cecil Flowers of Emory; grandparents, Melvin and Maxine Foster of Emory and Wayne Tanton of Waxahachie; step-grandparents, Lewis and Evelyn Flowers of New Mexico and Lorene Owen of Oklahoma; brother, Jason Jones of Oklahoma; and sisters, Taylor Tanton and Lori Rasco, both of Oklahoma, and Jennifer Jones of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jarrod Tanton, on June 7, 1996.
Pallbearers are Chad Simmons, Phillip Smith, Tim Clem, Windell Clawson, John McNeely, Douglas Gaby, Kevin Gaby and Ronnie Jones.
