Funeral services for Franklin Ray Byers, 67, of Merit are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Carlisle officiating. Burial is in Merit Cemetery.
Mr. Byers died Wednesday at his residence.
The son of Joseph Worden Byers and Virgie Mae Brooks, he was born Nov. 25, 1931 in Celeste. On Sept. 3, 1970 he married Katherine Ann Scotch in Grand Prairie.
Mr. Byers was a retired welder/roll man for Glitsch, Inc. and Gifford-Hill. He was a carrier for the Dallas Morning News in the Farmersville area. He was a member of Church of our Savior.
He is survived by his wife of Merit; a son, Richard Wayne Byers of Merit; two daughters, Michelle Renee Byers of Greenville and Teresa Mae Espinoza of Garland; a brother, Freeman Brooks Byers of Irving; a sister, Helen Hall of Greenville and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Adolia Hobbs, Lorene Swindell and Ruth Williams and brothers Worden Byers and Derward Byers.
Pallbearers are Barry Byers, David Joe Byers, Gary Byers, Ronnie Hobbs, Lonnie Ozbirn and Alan Swindell.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Alma Davis
COOPER - Alma G. Davis of Cooper died Sunday in a Fort Worth Hospital. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Doyle Meadors of Port Arthur officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, a resident of Delta County most of her life, was born in Delta County on Nov. 28, 1909. She was the daughter of William Bennett Chambers and Ada Lee Dewitt Chambers. On Aug. 25, 1928 she married G. Mack Davis. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cooper.
Surviving are three sons, Jack Davis of Houston and Charles Davis and Benny Davis, both of Cooper; three daughters, Evelyn Mexia of Greenville, Norma Burton of Fort Worth and Mary Sewell of Sulphur Springs; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 1, 1988 and a daughter, Velma Carter, in 1980.
Grandsons were pallbearers.
Joe Remediz
MESQUITE - Joe Remediz, 74, of Balch Springs died Wednesday. Services are at 10 a.m. today at Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home Chapel in Mesquite with Rev. Harry Seabolt officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
He was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Celeste.
Mr. Remediz is survived by his wife, Frances P. Remediz; two daughters, Priscilla A. Hughes and Debra J. Allen; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Thelma Clack
There is a memorial service for Thelma Jo Clack, 73, of Caddo Mills at 2 p.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville. Rev. Lois Cooper will officiate.
Mrs. Clack died at her residence Monday following a long battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 3, 1926 in Caddo Mills, she was the daughter of Pearl Loving Killough and Jerry Killough. She married Maurice Clack on Oct. 16, 1945. Mrs. Clack was a homemaker. She had been a member of United Methodist Church of Caddo Mills for 59 years.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Ronnie and Debby Clack of Caddo Mills, Gary and Judy Clack of Houston and Jimmy and Connie Clack of Caddo Mills; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Howard Vervalin, Francis Killough, Gordon and Geven Clack, Lois Stanley and Donny and Betty Whitlock and grandchildren Lance, Nathan, Jon, Matthew, Ashley, Crystal, Grace, Robin, Clay, Jared and Cody.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Earl Killough and a sister, Florence Vervalin.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation is at 7 p.m. today at the home of Jo Clack.
Martha Loder
COOPER Martha Jo Loder of Cooper died Thursday in Denton Regional Hospital. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with James Weir officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
Born in Sulphur Springs on Aug. 18, 1927, she was the daughter of Marvin Jackson Reiger and Grace Baker Reiger. She had lived in Cooper since 1982 and was Delta County District Clerk.
Mrs. Loder was married to Robert C. Holder for 30 years. She later married Ron Loder.
Surviving are sons Robert C. Holder Jr. of Daingerfield, Marvin Jackson Holder of Greenville and Stephan Joe Holder of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Kathryn Grace Fay of Argyle; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Loder preceded her in death in 1982.

Mary McCloud
LEONARD A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McCloud, 92, of Farmersville, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Leonard with Rev. Wally Williams officiating. Burial will be in Merit Cemetery.
She died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Childress, she was born Nov. 28, 1906. On Nov. 30, 1924 she married Jesse Erwin McCloud in Greenville.
Mrs. McCloud is survived by four granddaughters, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death on May 25, 1992.
Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Irene Murray
Irene "Bowee" Murray of Greenville died Sept. 24 in a Rowlett hospital. There is a funeral service at 1 p.m. today at Clark Street Christian Church with Rev. Charles Faulkner officiating. Burial is in Peniel Cemetery.
The daughter of Edgar and Mary Reynold Robinson, she was born in Greenville on Sept. 8, 1915. She was married to Henry Murray in Hunt County. Mrs. Murray was a homemaker and a member of Clark Street Christian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Murray of Greenville and Harl Murray of Pasadena, Calif.; two daughters, Jo Ann Carter of Greenville and Dorothy Lee of Rowlett; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a grandson and 11 sisters and brothers.
Pallbearers are Ollie Frank Stevenson, Eddie Davis, James Gipson, Robert Miles Sr., William Smith and John Beecham.

Guy Morgan
QUINLAN Guy "JR" Morgan, 76, of DeSoto died Wednesday in Longview. Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan was born in Cover Bend, Ark. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated Morgan Courier Service.
Mr. Morgan is survived by a son, Stephen Morgan of Iowa Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Morgan, and a brother.

Claude Smart
SULPHUR SPRINGS Funeral services for Claude C. Smart, 79, of Cumby, are at 10 a.m. Friday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Hall officiating. Burial is in Restlawn Memorial Park.
He died Monday at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas.
Mr. Smart was born July 24, 1920 in Mason to Harbey and Lena Griffith Smart. He married Bessie Lorrayne Baugh; she preceded him in death in 1964. He married Ruth Smith and she died in 1989.
Mr. Smart was retired from Millwright. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Gladys Waunelle Laird of Greencoat Springs, Fla.; three sons, Clinton Ray Smart of Midlothian, Claude Duane Smart of Mayslick, Ken. and Ernest Lee Smart; four brothers, Ben Smart of Sadler, E.B. Smart of Tuscon, Ariz;., Marvin Smart of Graham and John Smart of Lockland, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Pallbearers are Jackie Moore, Chester Lewis Moore, Thomas Raymond Smart, David Smart, Donald Smart, Marvin Smart Jr. and Randy Joe Hein.

COMMERCE Mary O. Weems, 96, of Houston, died Tuesday in Houston. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Pemberton Funeral Home with Rev. Donald E. Wright officiating. Burial is in Rosemound Cemetery.
The daughter of John R. Stooksberry and Pearl Blair, she was born Aug. 16, 1903 in Needmore Community, Delta County.
Mrs. Weems was a former resident of Commerce and had lived in Houston for 40 years. She was a member of the Westberry Baptist Church, Houston.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-laws Ovetra Covin of Houston, Norma Hardy of Houston, Jo Ann and Charles Keith of Houston and Frieda and Shirley Hooten of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law John Ed and Virginia Weems of Arlington; brothers, Howard Stooksberry, Hubert Stooksberry, Joe Stooksberry, Waydell Stooksberry and Finis Stooksberry; a sister, Edna Ruth White; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis E. Weems and one son, Winfred E. Weems.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Margaret Clark
CADDO MILLS Margaret Ailene Clark, 60, of Caddo Mills died Monday in Greenville. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rentfrow Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Graham officiating. There is a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery in Detroit.
Born in Verdon, Okla. on Sept. 1, 1939, she was the daughter of Marshall Norwood and Mary Curry Norwood. On Sept. 2, 1957 she married Harold Clark in Dallas. Mrs. Clark worked as a meat wrapper for Paynes Supermarket.
Surviving are her husband of Caddo Mills; sons Michael and Roger Clark of Mesquite, Ronald Clark of Greenville and Scott Clark of Rowlett; a brother, Albert Curry Norwood of Quinlan; a sister, Arneta Bailey of Plano and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Edwina Norwood and Adda Jean Jackson.
Pallbearers are Michael Clark, Joshua Clark, Robert Clark, Amanda Clark, David Winkle and Barry Winkle.

Karen Enslow
COMMERCE Karen Joyce Enslow of Commerce died Sept. 22 at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Burial was in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Texarkana.
Born in 1949, she was the daughter of Lloyd Briscoe Sr. and Mary Briscoe. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce.
Surviving are her husband, Steve Enslow of Commerce; two daughters, Shelly Sourber of Farmersville and Sheila Foster of Oklahoma; two brothers, Lloyd Briscoe Jr. of Commerce and Keith Briscoe of Colorado and four grandchildren.
A sister, Elaine Sommers, preceded her in death.

Lois Rudd
Lois I. Rudd of Greenville died Tuesday in Sherman. There is a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating.
The daughter of Clyde Williams and Gertrude Brooks Williams, she was born April 10, 1913 in Terrell. Mrs. Rudd was a presser for Wright's and Patterson's dry cleaners. She was a member of Hillside Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Archie Parish of Greenville; two brothers, Elmon Williams of Greenville and Raymond Spruill of Campbell; a sister, Sue Sandlin of Dallas; one grandchild and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Rudd, on Oct. 12, 1959 and a brother.

Sybil Bowman
Sybil Lue Bowman, 84, of Paris, Texas and formerly of Greenville, died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital in Paris. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home. Burial is in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowman was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Princiton, Ala.; the daughter Joe and Ella Hinshaw Reed. She was married in 1931 to William Jackson Bowman in Lone Oak.
Surviving are sons, Tommy Bowman, of Quinlan; daughters, Rita Owens of Fredonia, Kans. and Carolyn Jordan of Paris; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Billy Bowman and Ronny Bowman.
Pallbearers are Benny Bowman, Jimmy Bowman, Ray Jordon, James Smoot, Dwayne Bowman and Danny Bowman.
