Florence Hardeway died August 27 at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at noon today at Clark Street Christian Church with Rev. W.D. Hines officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
She was born April 25, 1925 in Royse City; the daughter of Frank and Amanda Grant Armstrong.
Surviving are a daughter, Manre Williams of Fresno, Calif.; brother, Lonze Armstrong of Fresno, Calif; sister, Lurline Whytus of Greenville; eight grandchildren; 25 grandchildren and four great-greatchildren.

Robert Rudd Jr.
Robert L. Rudd Jr., 73, of Greenville died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Louise Banner, Rev. Martha M. Hammack and Raymond Turner officiating. There will be a military graveside service at Forest Park Cemetery.
Born in Lone Oak on June 1, 1926, he was the son of Robert L. Rudd Sr. and Alice Roberts. He married Miriam Theo Jeffcoat in Greenville on March 19, 1943.
Mr. Rudd served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS New Jersey. He owned and operated Zenith Cleaners in the 1950s and retired from E-Systems. He was a life member of VFW Post 4011.
Surviving are his wife "T.J." of Greenville; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Darlene Rudd of Greenville, Jerry and Sandy Rudd of Greenville and Gary and Alicia Rudd of Longview; daughter and son-in-law Janette and Jack Read of Kingston; a sister, Mary Jo Ray of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, his parents and a grandson.
Pallbearers are Bill Britton, Steve Chapman, Bob Wright, Bob McCasland, Valton Wineinger and Buford Hammond. Grandsons Fred Roy, Kenneth Coplinger and Don Wright will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Walter Grady
Walter C. Grady, 86, of Greenville died Wednesday at his residence. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Nichols and Rev. David Blackmon officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born in Lockesburg, Ark. on Aug. 23, 1913, he was the son of Walter C. Grady Sr. and Fannie Mae Vaughn Grady. On April 16, 1938 he married Rosemary Cecil in Denton.
Mr. Grady attended high school in Shamrock and received a degree from University of North Texas in Denton, graduating in 1937. He opened Grady Chevrolet Co. in 1959.
Mr. Grady was a member of the Greenville's board of development for many years. He was a former director of First Greenville National Bank which is now Bank of America. He was active in fund drives and other activities of the YMCA, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts and United Way.
Mr. Grady also served as a member of the "Yes for Youth School Committee" which helped promote a bond package to finance renovation of all buildings in the Greenville Independent School District and served on the Greenville City Charter Revision Commission.
Mr. Grady was awarded the Worthy Citizen Award by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce in 1983.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Emily Grady of Greenville and Pat and Carol Grady of Rockwall; grandchildren Caroline Platt of New York, N.Y., Kristen Grady of Dallas, Melissa Holliman of Rockwall and Michael Grady of Marina del Rey, Calif.; great-grandchildren Jake Grady and Robert Brenner Holliman and a sister, Sunny Perry of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Employees of Grady Chevrolet of Greenville will serve as pallbearers.

Ludia Backus
Ludia Louise Frances Kerby Backus, 93, of Campbell died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 11:30 a.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benny Chaffin and Rev. Cary Kinnaird officiating. Burial is at Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born June 2, 1906 in the Bethlehem Community to John Ed Kerby and Cora Ann Elena Rollins Kerby. On Jan. 6, 1927 she married Percy Dewel Backus in Odell.
Mrs. Backus received masters degrees in math, English and science from East Texas State Teachers College and East Texas State University. She taught at Odell High School, Goodlett, Paintown (Hunt County), Dry Creek, Ashton Chapel (Collin County), Goose Neck (Hunt County), Battle Ax, Blockdale, Celeste and Campbell and retired after 36 years.
Mrs. Backus was a member of First Baptist Church in Campbell.
Surviving are daughter, Louise Foote of Campbell; sons, Kerby Backus of Austin, Wayne Backus of Rockwall, Mason Backus of San Angelo and Thomas Backus of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; one son, Henry Backus in 1993; two sisters and five brothers.
Grandsons are pallbearers.
Katherine Coats
BETHESDA, Md. - Services for Katherine Elizabeth Coats, 87, of Bethesda, Md., formerly of Greenville, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville with Dr. William Benner officiating with a private burial in Rosemont Cemetery in Commerce. She died Sunday.
A long time resident of Greenville, Mrs. Coats taught Music and Art at Travis Elementary School in Greenville. She received a Bachelor of Arts from East Texas State College where her father, James M. Bledsoe, served as Chairman of the Math Department for many years.
She also earned a Masters in Music from Peabody Institute, now a part of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
She is survived by three children, William M. Coats Jr. of Houston, James S. Coats of Tacoma, Wash. and Frances Corbins of Gaithersburg, Md.; and 10 grandchildren, Nikolai and Anthony Corbins of Gaithersburg, Md., Emily Jungen of Austin, Cecelia Coats of Denver, Colo., Stephen Coats of Houston, Anthony Coats of Dallas, Christopher and Peter Coats of Arlington and William and Anne Coats of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edna Frances Stone Bledsoe; her husband, William M. Coats; three brothers, A. Paul Bledsoe, James M. Bledsoe and Arthur M. Boyd; her stepmother, Vivian Boyd Bledsoe and by a son who died as an infant, William James Coats.
Grandchildren are as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.

Nathan Harris
CANTON - Nathan Lee Harris, 45, of Merit died Saturday in Pilot Point following a short illness. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Rev. Roger Amstutz officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.
Born Jan. 5, 1954 in Grapevine, he was the son of Wayland Wayne Harris and Thelma Winona Land Harris.
Mr. Harris grew up in Oklahoma and served three years in the U.S. Army. He worked as a nurse at various nursing homes in North Texas. He was a Pentecostal.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosie Harris of Wolfe City; a son, Wesley Harris of Wolfe City; father and stepmother, Wayne and Shirley Harris of Merit; his mother of Roundup, Mont.; two brothers, Paul Harris and Richard Harris, both of Roundup, Mont.; four sisters, Patricia Higgins of Roundup, Elaine Minor of Rusk and Edith Watkins and Evon Reagon, both of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Kirkland
Elizabeth Bailey Kirkland, 67, of Houston, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday at West Houston Medical Center. Funeral services are at 3 p.m Thursday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.
The daughter of Virgil Brown and Zona Rice Bailey, she was born Dec. 27, 1931 in Greenville. She worked as a nursing home cook.
Surviving are sons Randy Travis See of Houston and James D. See of Brisbane, Australia; a daughter, L. Renee See of Brisbane, Australia and six grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Effie Casper
Effie Mae Casper, 88, of Greenville died Monday in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Enterprise.
Miss Casper was born Feb. 20, 1911, in Rusk County; the daughter of Will and Emmie Cogburn Casper. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dearl D. Graves
Dearl D. Graves, 64, of Commerce, died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Mr. Graves was plant manager at Dresser Industrial in Commerce.
Services will be at Jones Memorial Chapel today at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Horton Cemetery.
Mr. Graves was born in Pleasant Hill, La., on Feb. 4, 1935, to Odis Elton and Ruthie Christine Anders Graves. He married Ginger Cohea on Aug. 3, 1977, in Durant, Okla. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife; sons Ronald Graves of Point and Kenneth Graves of Bedford; step-children Gaylon Steel of San Diego, Calif., Leland Steel of Joplin, Mo., Selina Steel of Granbury, Melisa Pope of Commerce and Bill Hanes of Hurst; eight grandchildren; brothers Don Graves of Irving, James Graves of Pleasant Hill, La., Travis Graves of Waco, Terry Graves of Grand Prairie and Odis Graves of Irving. He was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Graves, and a sister, Ruthie Vernell Carter.
Pallbearers will be Bill Mellott, David Graves, Dennis Graves, Jim Anders, Daniel Weaver and Reggie Anders.
Opal McAree
ALBA - Opal McAree, 87, of Alba, died Sunday at Home Place in Tyler. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson-Orwasky Chapel in Emory with Rev. Earl Kernes and Rev. Joe Stebeck officiating. Burial will be in Colony Cemetery.
Mrs. McAree was born on June 9, 1912, to Edd and Sally Souther Felty. She married Horace Oval McAree in Quitman on Jan. 28, 1933. She was a Baptist.
Surviving are sons, Donald McAree and Glenn McAree of Alba; sisters Grace Brown of Alba and Lena Wright of Emory; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 26, 1999; a son, Paul Lennis McAree and a brother, Fred Felty.
Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Hollis Whitworth, Howard Felty, steve Felty, Kenneth Felty, Jerry Gene Owens and Lloyd Hopkins.

Rosemary Prince
Services for Rosemary Prince, 75, of Campbell will be at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Campbell with Rev. Jan Denny officiating. Burial will be in Brigham Cemetery,
Mrs. Prince died Saturday evening in Greenville following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Greenville on Feb. 8, 1924, the daughter of Marvin and Marie Jones Turner. She was married to Billie Prince on June 4, 1942, in Campbell.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Larry Prince of Campbell and Billy Jack Prince of Heath; two daughters, Rebecca Manley and Vicki Albert of Campbell, a sister, Alice Oler of Greenville; a brother, Jack Turner of Greenville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Annie Rivers
COMMERCE - Annie Boldt Rivers of Commerce, formerly of Dallas, died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bobby Tollison, Rev. Fred Rogers and Rev. Mike House officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 5, 1896 in Cuero to Wilhelm Boldt and Marie Riedesel Boldt. She was a floral designer at the Flower Mart in Dallas for more than 50 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Commerce.
Surviving are grandson Dick Walker of Commerce; great-grandsons Michael "PeeWee" Walker of Mabank and Douglas Hickson of Carrollton, great-granddaughter Marissa Walker of Mabank and caretaker Rogene McCrummen of Commerce.
Pallbearers will be co-workers at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Aaron Seely
CUMBY - Funeral services for Aaron, 21, of Cumby, will be at noon Monday at First Baptist Church in Cumby with Rev. Wes Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Cumby Cemetery. Seely died Friday in Cumby.
Seely was a 1996 graduate of Cumby High School and was working as a metal fabricator at Creative Signs in Greenville at the time of his death.
Survivors include his parents, Allin and Melanie Seely of Cumby; two brothers, Brian Seely of Cumby and Brent Seely of Campbell and maternal grandparents Mel and Shirley Burgess of Jacksonville.
Pallbearers include Weldon Hood, Justin Mason, Bo Wright, Cary Hoops, Jason Petty and Roy Reed.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Cumby Funeral Home.
Billy Jackson
Billy C. Jackson, 39, of Greenville died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. F.W. Willis officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
Mr. Jackson was born Sept. 21, 1959, in Caddo Mills; the son of Pete and Pearlie Jackson. He was a carpenter.
Surviving are his mother, Pearlie Jackson; brother, Terry Jackson of Greenville; and sisters, Arlene Davis of Greenville and Shirley Jackson of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.
