Margery Ethel Veak, 89, of Greenville died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral arrangements are pending with McLaren's Funeral Home in West Des Moines, Iowa.
The daughter of Lewell and Effie Starnater Jolly, she was born April 3, 1910 in Mount Pulaski, Ill. On Dec. 3, 1931 she married Lester G. Veak in Carthage, Ill. Mrs. Veak was a housewife.
Surviving are two sisters, three sons, Richard Veak of Norwalk, Iowa, Leonard Veak of Greenville and John Veak of Westchester, Penn.; a daughter, Mary Thornton of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Billie Bradley
McKINNEY Billie Frances Bradley, 79, of Graybill died Monday in McKinney. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Frank Everett officiating. Burial is in Elm Grove Cemetery, Anna.
She was born in Merit on Aug., 25, 1920 to Constant Boone and Jewell Duncan Butler. On Oct. 25, 1941 she was married to Joyce Weldon Bradley in Greenville.
Mrs. Bradley is survived by son Jim W. Bradley of Graybill; a daughter, Eva Carol Douglas of Omaha, Neb.; sisters Gladys Mulkey, Earline Cook, Bernice Webb and Esta Lee Watkins, all of Fort Worth; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is at 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Lola Griffin
Funeral services for Lola Mae Griffin of Merit are at 1 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lois Cooper officiating. Burial is in Merit Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Born in Attalia, Ala. on March 21, 1901, she was the daughter of William J. Ferguson and Belle Morton Ferguson. She married Charles E. Griffin on Feb. 2, 1919 in Merit. She was a member of Merit Methodist Church.
Surviving are sons Charles Griffin Jr. of Dallas and Jack Griffin of Farmersville; daughters Nita Doan of Merit, Glenda Rector of Wagner and Linda Ivy of Floyd; a sister, Flora Logan of Deborgia, Mont.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; a daughter, Jean Spradling and grandson Kevin Landrum.
Pallbearers are Buck McDonald, Jim Doan, Rick Doan, Randy Glasscock, Glenn Landrum, Steve Griffin and Michael English.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of choice.

LEONARD A graveside service for Gary Don Sowels, 50, of Greenville, formerly of Leonard, is at 2 p.m. Friday at the Leonard Cemetery with Rev. Brad Strand and Rev. Roy Martin officiating.
He died Saturday in Greenville.
The son of Robert Sowels and Gertrude Duke Sowels, he was born Nov. 28, 1948 in Greenville. He married Laura Rogers Thomison on Oct. 2, 1990 in Durant, Okla. He was a Baptist and a carpenter and painter.
Surviving are his wife of Sherman; a sister, Naoma Ridings of Greenville; brothers Larry Bob Sowels of Savoy and David Sowels of Searcy, Ark.

Doris McKay
DALLAS - Doris Pennington "Penny" McKay died Monday. Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, 2400 North Josey Lane in Carrollton, with Rev. Brent Taylor officiating. Burial is in Restland Memorial Park.
She was born Oct. 16, 1926 and graduated from St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock, Ark. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Betty JoAnn "Ann" and Carl Underwood; daughter Patricia McKay; sons John David McKay and John Oliver McKay and wife Virginia; sister, Vivian Pennington and five grandchildren, Jennifer Trevino, Catherine Leonard, Melinda Fontenot, Angela Zuniga and Timothy Zuniga and four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Yesenia Trevino and Samantha and Alexandria Leonard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.H. McKay and a son, John Steven McKay.

FARMERSVILLE - Manda Elizabeth Tennison, 92, of Farmersville died Tuesday at Pavilion Nursing Home of McKinney. There is a graveside service at 2 p.m. today at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Rev. Bart Barber officiating.
She was born Aug. 7, 1907 in Fannin County, daughter of Jack and Etta Vernon Smith. She was married to Leland Tennison.
Mrs. Tennison was a homemaker and a Baptist.
A sister, Eugene Smith of Farmersville, survives.

Sharon Weatherley
Sharon Travis Weatherley of Greenville died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Nichols, Rev. Melvin Ray, Rev. Bill Shaddox and Andy Lewis officiating. Burial will be in McWright Cemetery.
The daughter of M.L. Travis and Peggy Gibson Travis, she was born Dec. 4, 1950 in Greenville. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1969.
Mrs. Weatherley was employed by former Justice of the Peace Mickey Money's office, Collins Furniture; and for the past several years, she had worked for Family Foot Care in Greenville. She was a member of Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her parents of Greenville; daughter Robin Leann Weatherley of Greenville; a brother, Marty Travis of Arlington; sister Julie Cook of McKinney and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers are David Hamilton, Bubba Nicholson, Dr. Steven Brancheau, Dr. David Minchey, Kenneth Money and Wayne Money. Honorary pallbearers are Mickey Money, Dee Hilton, James Petty and Joel Arnold.

MAYFLOWER, Ark. Rebecca "Becky" LaMay Hogland DiVerdi, 23, of Mayflower died Sunday in a Little Rock hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Church of Christ in Greenwood, Ark. Burial will be in Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark.
Mrs. DiVerdi was a student at Hendrix College majoring in Elementary Education, specializing in teaching the deaf. She was on the dean's list. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Conway, Ark.
Surviving are her husband, John DiVerdi, Jr. of Mayflower, Ark.; daughter Bella Nicole DiVerdi of Mayflower; parents, Thomas and Kitty Attison Hogland of Longview; sisters, Tonya Roberts of Huntington, Ark. and Tammy Hermosilla of Gheisen, Germany; grandparents, Dorothy Attison of Greenville and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Hogland of Booneville, Miss. and great-grandmother Lela Hughey of Rienzi, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Harold Attison.

Billy Lewis
COMMERCE Billy Joe Lewis, 67, of Commerce, died Saturday. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Temple Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City, Okla. Burial is in Trice Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
The son of Andy Lewis and Eva Bryant Lewis, he was born Aug. 22, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Okla. He married Ella Mae Kendrick on July 22, 1977 in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Lewis was an engineer at The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas and worked part-time at the Commerce Independent School District Fieldhouse. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife of Commerce; children Jim Mahdi of Commerce, Johnny Mixon of Oklahoma City, Okla., Larry Mahdi of Dallas, Billy Joe Lewis Jr. of Oklahoma City, Andy Lewis of Oklahoma City and Eva Lewis of Oklahoma City; brothers George Lewis and Clarence Lewis, both of Oklahoma City and a sister, Evelyn Birch of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Peggy.

Kenneth Poteet
Kenneth Lee Poteet, 77, of Greenville died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 19, 1922 in Hunt County, he was the son of L.B. Poteet and Mary Elizebeth Stewart Poteet.
Mr. Poteet operated Poteet Cement and Construction, retiring in 1985. He was a Methodist.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Kim Ann and Randy Parker of Greenville; sisters Dorthy Hill and Mary Williams of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Kelly and Brittany Clark and ex-wife Joann Poteet of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 15 brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers are Billy Gene Brignon, Homer Brignon, John Poteet, Troy Poteet, Henry Grimes and Roy L. Warren.

Lee Rice
Lee Rice, 98, of Greenville died Sunday at Greenville Health and Rehabilitation Center. There is a graveside service at Bethel Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating.
Born April 12, 1901 in Hunt County, he was the son of Frank Rice and Ola Chambliss Rice. He and Maude Arrington were married Oct. 28, 1935 in Greenville.
Mr. Rice was a beekeeper in the Greenville area for more than 55 years.
He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lions Club, Texas Beekeeper Association. Mr. Rice wrote historical recollections of the Greenville area and about growing up in Hunt County.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Thurston and Glinda Rice of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law Belva and Bill Eason of Greenville and Melva and B.C. Fairchild of Holly Lake; grandchildren Russell and Philip Rice of Greenville, Deborah Sather of Mesquite, Deanna Gaughan of Chandler and Karen Tubbs of White Oak; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Maureen Scoggins of Longview and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 24, 1991; seven brothers; five sisters and one grandson, David Kuykendall of Greenville.

Lloyd Skinner
HONEY GROVE Lloyd Horace Skinner, 81, of Honey Grove died Saturday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman. Services are at 11 a.m. today at Allens Point Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial is in Allens Point Cemetery.
Mr. Skinner was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Honey Grove; the son of Washington Lee and Mamie Robertson Skinner. He married Doris Owens on April 20, 1940, in Honey Grove.
Mr. Skinner was the owner of Underwood-Skinner Insurance Agency and a member of Allens Point Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Honey Grove; son, Gary Skinner of Denison; daughter, Wanda Shaeffer of Denison; four grandchildren; and brother, Henry Skinner of Arlington.

Lyma Elsie Hayes
Lyma Elsie Hayes of Greenville died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Graveside services will be at Memoryland Memorial Park Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating.
Mrs. Hayes was born in Oklahoma on March 12, 1905, to L.C. and Amanda Wilder Timbs. She married Leo Persell Hayes in 1926 in Whitewright. She was a Baptist.
Surviving is a grandson, Keith Hayes of Greenville, two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jimmy Hayes.
Visitation will be today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Wynell Holcomb
FARMERSVILLE Wynell Holcomb, 74, of Dallas died Thursday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Ballard officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Farmersville to Herschell and Maurine Osborn Compton. On Jan. 2, 1941 she married Ewell Holcomb in Durant, Okla. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Jimmy Holcomb of Dallas; sisters Peggy Long and Paula Terrell, both of Dallas and a brother, Jerry Compton of Patterson, La.
Wesley Barton
Wesley P. Barton, USAF Major, retired, 87, of Greenville died Wednesday at Greenville Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with elder George L. Barton officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park. Military honors will be presented graveside by Sheppard Air Force Base.
He was born Oct. 16, 1912 in Antoine, Ark. to W.P. and Maze Dean Barton. He married Viola Mackey Mixon in 1936; she preceded him in death. In 1970 he married Mary Lucille Ray.
Barton served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a flight engineer on B-29's and B-36s and retired after 31 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the U.S.A.F. Association.
He is survived by a son, George L. Barton of Highland, Utah; three stepsons, Carl Ray of Greenville, Charles Ray of Greenville and Bruce Ray of San Antonio; a daughter, Judith Mobley of Sheridan, Ind.; a sister, Gena Broussard of Zavalla; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his first wife in 1968 and his second wife in 1990.
Pallbearers are Carl Ray, J.R. Sellers, Wesley Barton, Greg Ray, Charles Ray, Matthew Barton and Ryon Gilliam.

R.C. Follis
COMMERCE - R.C. Cletus Follis, 76, of Cumby, died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Cumby with Rev. Wes Dean officiating. Burial is in Cumby Cemetery.
The son of J.D. Regan Follis and Ora Mae Carpenter Follis, he was born Aug. 17, 1923 in Cumby. On Dec. 26, 1942 he married Josie Mae Hall in Greenville.
Mr. Follis served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received his master's degree from East Texas State Teachers College and taught school in the Port Neches School District for 25 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 180 and Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity.
Surviving are his wife of Cumby; a sister, Evelyn Willis of Garland; a brother, Brazeal Follis of Baytown and several nieces and nephews.

Loretta Greenwood
Loretta Greenwood, 85, of Alexandria, La. died Thursday. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday at East Mount Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating.
She was born May 29, 1914 in Dalhart, daughter of Virgil Shepherd and Charlotte Stark. Mrs. Greenwood had been employed as a secretary/bookkeeper for the Highway Department. She was a Baptist and a member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Beverly Greenwood of Alexandria, La.; a son, Gary Greenwood of Greenville; two daughters, Beverly Ann Crocker of Alexandria, La. and Ima Lee Well of Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
