DAVID MATTHEW CANO, 32, was blessed with eternal destiny on May 25, 2004, to be with God and his Angels in Heaven. Our dear son and brother, take God's hand on your beautiful journey, until we meet again. We will always love you and will miss your beautiful soul. David, we loved watching the way you lived your life. We loved your kindness toward everyone. Your love for God's creatures, big and small, was truly an inspiration for all who knew you. We loved your passion for adventure and travel. We remember the day you received your certification in scuba diving. How proud you were when you made your first solo airplane flight. David, our dearest love, you allowed us to share your enthusiasm in all your endeavors, and for that we are very thankful. Martin Robert Forman, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2004. Mr. Forman served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge with the 71st Regiment, 44th Infantry Division. He and his division captured Wernher von Braun and nine other Nazi German scientists who developed the V-2 rocket, the world's first and largest ballistic missile. Mr. Martin Forman was a volunteer at the El Paso Police Department for about nine and a half years, then became the El Paso County Sheriff's Volunteer Coordinator. Part of his duties was to initiate and carry out the Junior Deputy Sheriff Program, which now has over 40,000 Junior Deputy Sheriffs. Mr. Martin Forman owned Associated Agencies Insurance Company for 25 years. He was a member of B'Nai Zion Synagogue for 42 years, and a member of B'Rith. Mr. Martin Forman was the founder of the B'Nai Zion Men's Club, past President of Jewish War Veterans, founding member of Jewish Community Center Fundraising, he was an El Maida Shreiner, Northeast Rotary Club member, past board member of the YMCA, Lancers Club board member, and a recipient of many awards of Who's Who in the State of Texas. He founded the Community Policing Program as well as the Police and Fire Widows Association in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Martin Forman was preceded in death by his parents Max and Bessie Forman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Cherrie Forman, loving daughters Mona Forman Bloch and husband Howard, Gail Lieber, Lorrie Forman, Fern Forman, grandchildren Stephen and Danielle Bloch, Aaron and Sarah, and Michael Lieber, Nichole and Shayna Ramirez, brother Roy Leonard Forman and sister Goldie Stoller. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Congregation B'Nai Zion Cemetery with Cantor Caitlin Bromberg officiating. Martin Forman was a man of honor, conviction, strength, integrity, full of dignity and compassion for all mankind.

Robert L. Garman, 83, passed away May 18, 2004. He was born January 27, 1921 to the late Helen and Ross Garman. He is survived by his loving wife Louise Pine, of 62 years and his daughters, Diane Gragg and husband Phillip of El Paso and Karen Measels and husband Michael of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Sherry Camet and husband Matthew of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert Pruitt and wife Staci of Platteville, Illinois, Amy Measels of Nashville, Tennessee, David Pruitt and wife Ann of El Paso and Michael Measles and wife Marcy of Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by 6 great grandchildren, Brooke and Allison Camet, Andrew and Megan Pruitt and Andrew and Austin Pruitt. Robert was a member of Masonic Lodge #1111 of El Paso, Texas, El Paso Scottish Rite and El Maida Shrine. He was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Robert was inducted into the US Army from Galesburg, Illinois on March 5, 1941. He went on to serve his country proudly and retired as a Captain on November 30, 1962. He retired from the Texas Department of Public Highways and Transportation in El Paso, Texas. Services were held on Monday, May 24, 2004, 12:00 p.m. at the Hinchcliff, Pearson and West Funeral Home, Galesburg, Illinois. Burial was at the Oak Lawn Cemetery. A local memorial service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Broom officiating.

On May 25, 2004, our beloved soul Zachariah "Zachy" Johnson entered the Gates of Heaven after a courageous fight with cancer. Zachy was born in El Paso, TX on June 14, 1996. He was the most giving soul, putting all people before himself even during his struggles. Zachy was full of life, and will be remembered by the many people he touched. Zachy is survived by his mother, Kelly Johnson of El Paso, TX, father, Zach Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX, stepmother, Chrisy Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX, sister, Hunter Johnson of El Paso, TX, sister Madison Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX, and brother Dakota Moseley of El Paso, TX, grandparents and many friends. Visitation will be held Friday, May 28, 2004, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martin Chapel. Chapel Service will be Saturday, May 29, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Martin Chapel. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, stuffed animals may be donated to the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Providence Memorial Hospital.

PANSEY (PAT) KIMBLE MATTHEWS settled into the arms of God on Monday, May 24, 2004 after a long term illness. She was a long time resident of El Paso and graduated with honors from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1932 at the age of 19. Mrs. Matthews was an Army wife and mother. She served as a Red Cross Grey Lady at William Beaumont Army Medical Hospital, Head Red Cross Grey Lady at US Army hospital at Bad Constadt Germany, Red Cross Volunteer at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Daughters of the King at All Saints Episcopal Church. She was a teacher in Americus Georgia and at Ross Middle School in El Paso. She is survived by her sons, Charles Jr. and wife Linda of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gene and wife Trinky of Plano, Texas and John of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Kathryn Wilson of Dallas, Wendy Copeland of The Colony, Charles Matthews III, Roberto Matthews and Edward Matthews of Albuquerque, Frank Chavez of Albuquerque, Terresa Salazar-Dodd of Phoenix; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Matthews, Lt. Col. USA ret.; brothers, Andrew (Andy) Crosby Kimble, Edward (Eddie) Lawrence Kimble and Francis Eugene (Pete) Kimble. The family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 10:00 AM. Michael Anthony Narvaez, 40, a life long resident of El Paso, passed away on May 25, 2004. Michael is survived by his parents Dr. Thomas Narvaez Sr. and Carmen Olga Rosado Abraham. He also leaves behind his daughter Alyse Narvaez, his brother Thomas Jr., sisters Yvonne Narvaez and Joanne McCollum. IRENE MADELINE SEARS, 53, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away on May 25, 2004. She was born in Munich, Germany to Edward and Carmen Romo. Irene leaves behind her loving husband Charles L. Sears, her mother Carmen Romo, sons Zachary Pena, Richard Montoya Jr. and James Montoya, daughter Stephanie Zelenak. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers Edward Romo and David Romo, sister Ruth Romo and her three grandchildren Erica Zelenak, Tristan Zelenak and Logan Zelenak. She will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her grandmother, Mrs. Rita Limas. Survivors include her son, Juan Antonio and daughter, Abigail. Mother: Soledad Ontiveros, and Step-father, Alberto Salinas. ERIKA GRANT, 70, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2001 in El Paso. She was born in the Czech Republic in 1931. She married Lawrence C. Grant, Sr. in 1954 while he was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. She came to El Paso in 1955 and has been a resident of El Paso the past 46 years. She was a member of the American Legion #58 Ladies Auxiliary, the N.C.O. Wives Club, the V.F.W. and volunteered at the V.A. Clinic. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996 and a son, Robert L. Grant in 1995. She is survived by her son, Lawrence C. Grant, Jr. and wife, Kim of Katy, TX, daughter-in-law, Cinda Grant of Canutillo, TX, 1 sister, Edith Krischke of Germany; 4 grandchildren, Robert C. Grant, Jesse Grant, Jessica Grant and Lauren Grant and a step-grandson, Christopher Holden. Visitation will be Monday, November 26th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home Dyer Chapel. FRANK GARZA, 92, passed away Tuesday November 20, 2001 in McKinney, Texas. He was a longtime resident of El Paso before moving to McKinney. He retired from White Sands Missile Range as a Communication Engineer, member of the Knights of Columbus & past president of Pan American Optimist Club. Preceded in death by his wife Concepcion Gonzalez Garza & daughter Rosario Garza. Survivors include his daughter & son in law Susana G. & Alex Preciado of Allen, TX; son & daughter in law Frank R. & Claudia Garza of Phoenix, AZ; brother Raul Garza; granddaughter Susan P. Lovett; grandsons Alex Preciado, Jr., Matthew Preciado, David Preciado, Keith Garza & Jeffrey Garza; 9 great grandchildren. JAMES E. BELL, 73, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2001. He had been a resident of El Paso 55 yrs. He was retired from the U.S. Army and worked for Nasa for 4 years. He was a member of Sunland Masonic Lodge 1344 where he served a master and was secretary for 11 years. He has also served as D.D.G.M. of District 60-A for the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas. He was a member of the El Paso Scottish Rite Bodies, the El Paso York Rite Bodies and El Maida Shrine. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Manuela C. Bell of El Paso, daughters Anna & Emily, sons, Rich, Jim & Chuck, sister, Arlene Baartman and grandchildren, Tony, Vanessa, Haley, Jenna, Matt & Patti. Visitation will from 4 to 9 pm Monday at Mt Franklin Funeral Home with prayer services at 7 pm. Vashti G. Turnbull passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001. She was born in Washington D.C. but has called El Paso home for the past 23 years. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gottlieb, her four daughters, a son, a son-in-law, five grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and other family members. BEATRIS AZAR, 90, passed away Friday, November 23, 2001. She was a resident of El Paso for 44 years. Mrs. Azar was preceded in death by her daughter Maria Del Carmen Azar, and is survived by children: Ofelia Garcia, Guillermo Bugarini, Oscar Bugarini, Martha Lopez, seventeen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. THOMAS R. WARD, 86, (Retired Major) U.S. Army and retiree from WSMR passed away on November 17, 2001. He served his country for 44 years. He was born in Baltimore, MD. He received the Bronze Star and various other commendations. He is survived by his wife, Simone M. Ward.
