MARIA ALEMAN, 95, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in El Paso. She was longtime resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. Ms. Aleman is survived by her nephew and foster son, Angel Aleman Jr. and family. Sister, Josefina Sapien and other nieces and nephews. ROBERT (BOB) L. BRUCE, born in Roswell, New Mexico 1911, passed away November 24, 2004. He graduated from the University of New Mexico. He was associated with the Pacific Mutual Insurance Company in Albuquerque. He served as a first lieutenant with the 3rd Air Force during World War II. In El Paso, he had a long career with New England Life Insurance Company. He was active with the El Paso Chamber of Commerce, the Central YMCA, and numerous other civic organizations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thurley, his parents Thomas and Eddy Bruce, his brothers, Allen, Richard and sister Hunter. He is survived by his son Thomas Bruce and four nieces. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Central YMCA, 701 Montana, El Paso, Texas 79902.

RODNEY LEROY HERMAN JR., 35, passed away on November 23, 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rodney Leroy and Patricia Ann Herman. He is survived by his brother, T.J. Andrew Grimes; sisters, Cindy Herman, Laura Swegler and Catherine M. Chacon; brother in-law, Alex Chacon; nephew, Stephen Chacon and niece, Brianna Chacon. A Memorial Service will be at 2:30 PM Saturday, November 27, 2004 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar. Burial will be private. "When you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you". Services will be entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home - East.

Cleo D. (Taffy) Herrmann, died Friday, November 25, 2004. Taffy was born on August 24 in 1916 in Riverton, Kansas, a daughter of Fred C. and Dora Immell DeWeese. A visitation will take place at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh on Sunday, November 28 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM. Mrs. Herrmann was a member of Chapter 192, NARFE and Chapter 3689, AARP, as well as the Pullen Park Dance Club. She will be remembered for her exhibition dancing with Elizabeth Deer Dance Studio, as well as being a very popular dancer during the Big Band Era. There are no survivors. Ernest J. Gorman was born in Las Cruces, Territory of New Mexico, on February 17, 1909. He passed away at his home in Yuma, AZ, on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at the age of 95. He was raised in El Paso, TX. During World War II, he served in the U.S.Army as a Quartermaster Staff Officer. After the war, for 44 years he worked as an insurance agent for the Principal Life Insurance Company in both Albuquerque, NM, and Durango, CO. Ernest and his first wife, Maxine, shared a marriage of 51 years before her death. His dear wife of 23 years, Erika, of Yuma, AZ, now survives him. He is also survived by his stepsons Richard Beem of Casa Grande, AZ; Rodney Beem of Winterset, IA; and Karl Beem of Liberty, MO. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nell Gorman Kelly, and Patricia S. Gorman, both of El Paso, TX. Six step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. A man of great integrity who worked hard and also enjoyed life to the fullest, Ernest Gorman enjoyed golf, dancing, bowling, and fishing in the Colorado River. He was also an avid and experienced traveler. Memorial Service for Ernest was held at Faith Lutheran Church in Yuma, AZ, on Friday, November 12, 2004. He was interred at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX, on Thursday, November 18, 2004. Michael "Mike" G. Anselman, 52, of El Paso went to be with our Lord Nov. 25, 2004. Mike was a native of El Paso and a graduate of Ysleta High School. He was the proud owner of Rosebud Antiques for over 30 years. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Buddy Anselman. He is survived by his mother Jean, of El Paso; brothers: Marty and Mark; sister: Melinda Wade and dear friend and companion, Ruby Oleary. Mike had many nieces and nephews. He had many, many friends and he will be sorely missed by everyone. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mt. Franklin Funeral Home Chapel. Retired Lt. Col. U.S. Army, Jerry Mae Mantooth Benedict, born November 19, 1933 in Cierks, Arkansas, passed away on Nov. 22, 2004 in El Paso, Texas. She was a resident of El Paso for 35 years. She received her Masters in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and having served a distinguished nursing career. She was a Vietnam Veteran and received the National Defense Service, Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with Device 1960 and the Bronze Star Medal. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Edwin Allen Benedict, loving stepdaughter Mary Juneau, (Jason) Baton Rouge, LA. Grandchildren, Madeline and Samuel Juneau, sister: Billie Ruth Poole (Dumont) of Beaumont, TX., brother: Patrick Mantooth (Linda) of Hattiesburgh, MS.; nieces: Rebecca Duncan, Sara Cooper, and Melissa Pfeiffer, nephews: Jerry Poole, Jeff Poole and Randall Mantooth. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Andrew Mantooth and Ruth Emma Jackson Mantooth. FRANCISCO DAVID DE LA ROSA, 22, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2004. He is survived by his mother, Ivonne Aguirre; fathers, Rudolph Aguirre and Jose E. De La Rosa; sisters and brothers, Victoria Medina, Jose De La Rosa, Gracie, Bernadette, and Joshua; Goddaughter, Amber; nephews; cousins; uncles; aunties, and grandparents. Paul Roger Guimond, 62, born to Roger and Evelyn Guimond June 2, 1942 in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Lou Guimond, who adored him, his children Monique Nicole, Michelle Nadine, and George Charles Guimond who will miss him dearly. Mr.Guimond is also survived by two granddaughters, Caitlyn Renee Hancock and Tyler Nicole Guimond, his sisters Janet Guimond of Arizona, Dennis Ferro and Ken of Rhode Island and Bette Higgins of Ohio, nieces Kriston and Rachel and nephews Peter and Greg. He was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Roger Guimond and brother Peter Guimond. He attended La Salle Academy in Rhode Island and graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1964. He played football and wrestled and was an OCS graduate. In his 6 years in the army he served in Vietnam and Germany. He was with the 720th Military Police Battalion, the 89th Military Group and the 18th Military Brigade. He came to Ft. Bliss and served as Captain of the Military Police. He was a member of the El Paso County Sheriff's Posse for 20 years and served as president and as treasurer for many years. He was a member of V.F.W. #45. He loved his horses, fishing, hunting, handball and boating. He has many special friends who have stuck with him through his illness Ed Daley, Bobby Stallard, Jerry Halaby, Frank Alhgren, Mike McKee, George Lynch and Phil Homan and the members of the El Paso County Sheriff's Posse who will serve as honorary pallbearers. His pallbearers will be Ed Daley, Bobby Stallard, Jerry Halaby, Frank Alhgren, Pat Turtle, Mike McKee, George Lynch and George Guimond. A special thanks to Hospice of El Paso especially Gloria Schotten, Irma De La Pena and Norma Hernandez. MR. ELIAS M. HERNANDEZ, 82, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004. He was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Hernandez retired from Peyton’s Packing after 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez is survived by his sons: Elias Hernandez Jr. and wife Maribel, Enrique Hernandez and Erick Hernandez. Daughters: Elaine Valadez and companion Chuck Eichensehr and Elsa Escobedo and husband Enrique. Grandchildren: Elaine Jr., Vangie, Juan, Dusten, Elias III and Amy. Lt. Col. French G. Lewis (USA Ret.) passed away on November 27, 2004. He was born in Stilwell, OK on 18 August 1916. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1939 and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U. S. Army in March 1941. During WWII he served with the 756th Tank Battalion from North Africa through Italy, Southern France and Germany. His other assignments included: MAAG, Denmark, The Pentagon, MAAG Taiwan, Advisor to the 49th Armored Division of the Texas National Guard, MAAG Saigon, The Armored Board at Ft. Knox, KY, SETAF Italy, USAREUR Headquarters, Heidelberg, Germany. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Lewis taught Middle School in the Canutillo District for 10 years. He was an avid gardener, loved sports, and keeping up with the world events. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Lois and son, Greig. His family wishes to thank all the Doctors and the Staff at Sierra Medical Center who cared for him. Graveside services for Lt. Col. Lewis will be private at Ft. Fernando Narvaez, 70, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and a 1952 graduate of Bowie High School. Mr. Narvaez was also a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and retired from the El Paso Sheriff's Department after 17 years of service. He is preceded in death by his mother Maria Narvaez and son Fernando Narvaez, Jr. Fernando is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Josefina Narvaez, son Michael Joseph Narvaez, daughter Sandra Castro, grandchildren Erica Kristyne Castro, Jillian Adams, Valorie Nicole Castro and Gabriel Fernando Narvaez. Visitation for Mr. Narvaez will be Tuesday, November 30, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary Service at Martin Funeral Home East. MARIA MARTHA RAMIREZ, 71, born 4-3-1933 passed away 11-28-2004. Married for 49 years. Mrs. Ramirez was survived by her loving husband Mr. Isabel Ramirez, 5 sons and spouses Jose, Lorenzo and Maria Elena, Martin and Veronica, Arturo and Jennifer, Miguel and Maria, 5 daughters and spouses Gloria and Frank, Irma and Juan, Isabel and Mike, Laura, Guadalupe and Jose. They also raised grandson Manuel and like a son Florencio Vasquez. She loved her 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She had 2 brothers Gregorio and Jesus, 2 sisters Lupe and Adela. She was one extraordinary lady who loved children, music, dancing and helped people in need, never asking for anything in return. Loved by all who knew her. She was a truly special wife and mother. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Tues., Nov. 30, 2004 at San Jose Funeral Home from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM with praying of the Rosary at 11:00 AM and Christian services beginning at 12:00 PM. El Paso businessman, FRED L. AYOUB, 41, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2002 in La Jolla, California. He was a life long resident of El Paso and resided in Scottsdale, Arizona at the time of his death. His grandparents Amen and Zachia Ayoub came to El Paso from Lebanon in 1904 and founded Border Tobacco in 1933. His father Fred A. Ayoub and his mother Georgette Ayoub advanced his business career by encouraging Fred to start working in the family business at an early age. He ran his own fireworks stand at age 12. He entered the hotel business and soon after built, owned and operated the Radisson, Hawthorn Hotels at the airport, and Vancouver Suites in Las Cruces. Fred was an active member of Y.P.O. Fred enjoyed his family life above all, spending his free time hunting, fishing, skiing and four wheeling with his wife and two sons. He was an avid pilot and loved flying his own plane. He was preceded in death by his father Fred A. Ayoub. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ayoub, a beloved father of two sons Fred and Joshua Ayoub, mother Georgette Ayoub, sister Gezelle Risk and brother Amen F. Ayoub. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West, with rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Friday, November 8, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral. Mrs. Baldomera G. Castro, 98, passed away November 4, 2002. Mrs. Castro immigrated to El Paso from the state of San Luis Potosi, Mexico at the age of 12. She found and married her soul mate in El Paso where they both remained longtime residents of El Paso up until their demise. She is survived by five sons: MJ Castro, Juan Castro Jr., Hector Castro, Enrique Castro and Ricardo Castro; and three daughters: Mrs. Gloria Gomez, Mrs. Linda Russell and Mrs. Maria Yanez (deceased). Other survivors include 28 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2002 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM with Rosary being held at 6:00 PM. Mass will be held on Friday November 8 at 1:00 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert E. Tomi Lea Cavin, 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2002. Tomi Lea was born in Rodeo, NM and resided in Douglas, AZ and El Paso, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Cavin, her son, Thomas B. Cavin and her sister, Beth Willes Bonds. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Cavin, granddaughters, Ann Strozewski and Lisa Cavin-Ferriola, grandson-in-laws, Kirk Strozewski and Nick Ferriola. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren, Katharine, Benjamin, and Andrew Strozewski. Tomi Lea also left behind three sisters and a brother, Jane Nelson, Wanda Bennett, Peggy Boss, and Bennett Noland. LYNDA "MAMA LYNDA" FINNEY, 62, passed away Monday, November 4, 2002, a resident of El Paso for over 20 years. She was a member of Vista Del Sol Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church Sunday School. She was an Elementary School Teacher and a graduate of T.C.U. She is survived by her husband, Ned and her 8 children and 17 grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, November 7th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8th at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

MR. MARCEL D. LA FRANCE, 62, passed away Monday, November 4, 2002. He was a resident of Elephant Butte, New Mexico and a former resident of El Paso. Mr. La France was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, October 19, 1940 to Joseph and Irene (Levesque) La France. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Airforce. He retired as a sergeant from the El Paso Police Department and later moved to Sierra County where he was the former Undersheriff for eight years. Mr. La France was currently the Municipal Judge at Elephant Butte, New Mexico and was a member of the Elephant Butte Lion's Club, past President of the T or C Lions Club. He was the past Commander of V F W Post #1389 and a member of the Moose Lodge #2040. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Armand R. La France and Robert J. La France. Mr. La France is survived by his wife, Connie F. La France of Elephant Butte, New Mexico. Daughter, Toni La France and Son, Christopher M. La France both of El Paso, Texas. Grandchildren, Matthew Wojciechowski, Toni Wojciechowski and Samantha Fabian. Sisters, Doris Mowad of El Paso, Texas, Cecil Forand of Fall River, Massachusetts, Nannette Sasso of Swansea, Massachusetts and Claudette Barbozza of Fall River, Massachusetts. ADALAIDE M. RATNER, 84, long time El Paso resident, passed away November 5, 2002. Adalaide was born in El Paso on December 22, 1917 to Max and Lily Moye, a prominent pioneer El Paso family. Her grandparents, Jacob and Ada Calisher and Edward and Lilla Moye settled in El Paso in the early 1880's. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alfred A. Ratner. Adalaide had a deep love for El Paso and its community and was dedicated to its people and its beauty. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1935 and attended the College of Mines (now UTEP) and Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, specializing in early childhood education. Following her return to El Paso in 1939, she was active in numerous civic and Jewish - sponsored projects. Her passion was working with and helping special needs children. She was especially active in projects for visually impaired children, teaching for twenty years at Houston School in the El Paso Public School system, from which she retired in 1979. During her teaching career she was instrumental in mainstreaming her special education students into regular public education classrooms. She made sure that all of her special children were integrated into and became productive members of the community. She instilled a sense of pride in their accomplishments. In 1965, she was appointed to the State Commission for the Blind by then Governor, John Connally. In 1979, she was awarded the Hannah G. Solomon Award from the National Council of Jewish Women. She was a past president of the National Council of Jewish Women and served with the Temple Mount Sinai Sisterhood, Association for Childhood Education, Texas State Teachers Association, Council for Retarded Children, and the Council for Exceptional Children. She was also a member of Las Camadres, Delta Kappa Gamma, and El Paso Retired Teachers. She is survived by her brother and his wife Max and Carol Moye of San Mateo, CA, her sister-in-law, Jeanne Moye of El Paso, and her three children and their spouses, Linda and Richard Bateman of Breckenridge, CO, James and Janice Ratner of Amherst, MA, and Robert and Nan Ratner of Bethesda, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Cinthia Bateman of Manhasset, NY, Lila Bateman and Craig Cox of Denver, CO, Derek and Chrissy Ratner of Tampa, FL, Andrea Ratner of St. Louis MO, Jamie Ratner and Adam Ratner of Bethesda, MD. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her special friend and helper, Raquel Martinez. Visitation will be available at Harding, Orr & McDaniel at 320 Montana on Thursday, November 7 from 8 am to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, November 8, in the Krupp Chapel at Temple Mt. Sinai, 4408 N. Stanton St. Private Interment . Adalaide requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Ratner Special Education Fund at UTEP, at 1100 N. Stanton, Suite 201, El Paso, TX 79902.

John Anthony Sedillo, 65, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 4, 2002, after a short illness. He was born May 19, 1937 to Juanita and Erminio Sedillo of Old Town, Albuquerque, NM. John attended San Felipe Elementary School and St. Mary's High School. Following high school, he entered the U.S. Navy in July 1954 and was assigned to the U.S.S. George K. McKenzie. After being honorably discharged in May 1958, he was employed by Albuquerque Southern Union Gas Company. In 1974, John took a transfer to continue his career with Southern Union Gas in El Paso as Supervisor of Construction. He retired in 1996 as Superintendent, returning to Albuquerque, NM in 1999. John was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather; and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all. John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen, who was his high school sweetheart; his three daughters and their families, Christine and husband, Mike Campos and their daughters, Stephanie and Andrea of Pflugerville, TX, Marie and husband, Pete Baeza and their daughter, Lia and son, Jonathan of El Paso, and Lisa Richter and her son, Danny and daughter, Shelly of Amelia, OH. John is also mourned by his brother, Joe Sedillo; sisters, Mary Gonzales and Stella Madrid; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Margaret Sanchez. John and Helen enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world. Along the way, they made many long-lasting friends from their cruises and tours. We would especially like to give our thanks to Sun Tours for all our fond, special memories. John was very active as a volunteer in several organizations. His dedication began in El Paso at the Columbia Hospital and also as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Children's Court (C.A.S.A.). When returning to Albuquerque his volunteering service continued at St. Joseph Hospital. He loved being their mailman and being on the Medical Advisory Council. John continued as a C.A.S.A. Representative from 1997-2002. John was also on the Advisory Council for the Department of Senior Affairs from 1999-2002. He worked with the A.A.R.P. from 1998-2001 and also as a Docent for the Hispanic Cultural Center, 2000-2002. Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 7, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated, Friday, November 8, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. John will be greatly missed by all that were touched by his kindness and love. Safely Home I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still; Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. Your love will always remain in our hearts, till we meet again. Your loving wife, Helen.

LUIS YTUARTE JR., a truly beloved man, born September 7, 1925, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2002. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Ytuarte retired from Phelps Dodge after 31 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. having served during World War II. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Estela Ytuarte. Daughters, Patricia Espinosa and Sandra Saenz. Son, Luis Ytuarte. 6 Grandsons and 1 Granddaughter. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 8:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Members of the family will serve as pallbearers. Grandpa was an honorable man. We will always love you Luis, Dad, Grandpa and we will miss you. Interment will be in Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Directed by HILLLCREST FUNERAL HOME. 1060 CAROLINA DR. 598-3332.
