Linda Stump Gray, 45, died Monday morning, Aug. 25, 1997, at St. David's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was a previous resident of Elsa and graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School and had lived in the Austin area for several years. She was a hotel manager for one of the major hotel chains.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robert (Bob) Stump and Mabel Nittler Stump. She is survived by a son, Bryan Lynn Gray of Michigan; one brother, Craig Stump of Elsa; and a nephew, Michael Stump of Houston.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Emanuel Bialoncik. Cremation will follow afterward.

Margarita Zamora, 96, passed away at her Donna residence.
Mrs. Zamora was born Jan. 31, 1901 in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Marcelino and Princilana Valdez. Mrs. Zamora had resided in Donna, Texas, most of her life and was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Donna.
Mrs. Zamora is survived by daughters, Julia Zamora of Donna, Texas, Felipa Oviedo of Donna, Alejandra Garcia of Donna, and Jovita Martinez of Donna; her son Felix Zamora of Pharr, Texas; sister, Francisca Rodriguez of Sanger, Calif.; brother, Jose Valdez of Donna; 33 grandchildren; 98 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sergio Guerrero, Manuel Garcia Jr., Samuel Garcia, Armando Garcia Jr., Felix Zamora and Richard Garcia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tiburcio Zamora, in 1975; daughter, Eloisa Zamora, in 1994; and sons, Jose Zamora in 1984 and Marcelino Zamora in 1989.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today, Aug. 27, 1997, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna. The funeral procession will depart Sagmiller Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Donna City Cemetery in Donna.

Don K. Cummings of San Antonio passed away on Aug. 25, 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cummings; son, Randy K. Cummings of San Antonio; mother-in-law, Dorothy Anderson of Rio Grande City, Texas; brothers-in-law, Charles Anderson of McAllen, Texas, and Kenny Anderson and his wife, Vangie, of Rio Grande City; other children, Bill Cummings, Ralph Cummings and his wife Pam, and Lillian Nanny and her husband Clint; four grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
He coached for 18 years throughout the Valley and San Antonio and was in advertising and marketing for the last several years.
The family offers a special thanks to Dr. Allison Thurman, the staff at C.T.R.C., and the medical staff and nurses on the eighth floor at Methodist Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Aug. 27, 1997, at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jim Witt officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at the funeral home.

J. Thomas "Tom" Hulse, age 65, of Archer City, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997, in Branson, Mo., of an apparent heart attack.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at the First Baptist Church in Archer City, Texas, with arrangements under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Mr. Hulse was born April 6, 1932, in Elbert, Texas. He and Earlene Pearston were married Dec. 22, 1955, in Olney, Texas.
He began working for Bridwell Oil Company in Archer City in May 1959 as a pumper. He retired in 1994 with more than 35 years of service. He had been a rancher since 1962 and was also an independent oil producer since 1973. He and his wife spent the winter months at Alamo Palms in McAllen.
Survivors include his wife, Earlene; two sons, Jasper Hulse of Maracaibo, Venezuela and Tommy Hulse of Archer City, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials to Archer City Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 367, Archer City, Texas 76351.

John Raymond Lemon, 68, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.
Mr. Lemon was born in Enid, Okla., and had lived in McAllen for 23 years. He was a wholesale lumber broker.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris ''Dee'' Lemon of McAllen; his mother, Esther Stidham of Lawton, Okla.; one sister, Jeanean Dees of Lawton; and one brother, Ronald Lemon of Bethany, Okla.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997 at Kreidler Funeral Home on North 10th Street. Rev. Bill Hicks will officiate. McALLEN -- Louise Garrison, 65, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at McAllen Heart Hospital. Mrs. Garrison was born on Nov. 6, 1932, in Hollar Springs, Tenn. She had lived in McAllen for the past 27 years and had served for many years as President of Valley Mortgage Company.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Milton Garrison of McAllen; son, Kirk (Jenny) Garrison of Abilene; daughter, Kim (Bill) Bohls of Austin; her mother, Zadie Thomas of McAllen; three grandsons and four granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her son, Kurt Garrison.

MISSION -- Mrs. Nereyda S. Acosta, 28, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Acosta was born in McAllen, Texas, to Mr. Leandro and Mrs. Maria Dolores Sandoval on Jan. 19, 1970.
Mrs. Acosta a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, and aunt is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Eleazar Acosta of Mission; three wonderful daughters, Krystina Acosta, Krystal Acosta and Kazarah Acosta of Mission; her parents, Mr. Leandro and Mrs. Maria Dolores Sandoval of Mission; two brothers, Carlos (Sandra) Sandoval of Mission and Leandro (Marissa) Sandoval Jr. of Mission; three sisters, Mrs. Nor (Anthony ) Phillips of Mission, Mrs. Linda (Diego) Zamora of Mission and Mrs. Aracely (Albert) Rios of Mission; mother-in-law, Mrs. Maria del Refugio Mosquedo; father-in-law, Emiliano Acosta; and one niece, Myra Carbajal.

EDINBURG -- Baby Nikolas Simon Gonzalez entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen. He was the infant son of Rodrigo Jr. and Cindy Gonzalez of Edinburg.
Baby Nikolas was preceded in death by his twin brother, Brandon N. Gonzalez in April 1998.
He is survived by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Rodrigo and Aurora Gonzalez of Alamo; maternal grandmother, Maria Reyes of Edinburg; paternal great-grandmothers, Francisca Gonzalez and Victoria Rodriguez; maternal great-grandmother, Severa Alonzo.

WESLACO -- Mrs. Rosie Avila Galindo, 43, passed away Sunday, April 19, 1998, in Patterson, California. She was born on April 21, 1954, in Weslaco, Texas. She had been a lifetime resident, except for the last four years in California.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Galindo of Patterson, Calif.; her father, Casimiro Rios of Weslaco; her three daughters, Kimberlee B. Avila of Mercedes, Vanessa Galindo and Danielle Galindo, both of Patterson, Calif.; her four brothers, Felipe Rios of Gilroy, Calif., Oscar Rios of Weslaco, Pedro Rios of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Casimiro H. Rios of Weslaco; her three sisters, Guadalupe Gonzalez of Weslaco, Cris Robledo of Edinburg and Alicia Villalpando of Weslaco; her two granddaughters, Alyssa Jaramillo and Seryna Jaramillo, both of Mercedes.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jesusa C. Rios.

EDINBURG -- Cecil Everette Johnson, 62, passed away late Tuesday evening, April 21, 1998, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Johnson of Edinburg; three daughters, Yvette Johnson of Edinburg, Yvonne Johnson of Edinburg and Catherine (Michael) Pena of Portland, Texas; four grandchildren, Ashley Batot of Edinburg, Jim Batot, Lauryn Batot, and Christian Peņa, all of Portland, Texas.
No funeral services are planned at this time. Mr. Johnson was cremated Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Val Verde Memorial Gardens Crematory in Donna.

WATERLOO, Iowa -- Carl W. Bertholf, 81, of Donna, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at the home of his daughter in Nashville, Tenn. He was born Dec. 9, 1916, in Mt. Carroll, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy L. Geiger, who died June 5, 1986.

MERCEDES -- Cruz Serna, 77, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998. He was born May 3, 1921, to Luz and Francisca (Vento) Serna in Relampago, Texas.
He was a lay minister for Holy Spirit Catholic Church for many years, and spent 17 years as pastoral care volunteer for the Brownsville Catholic Diocese. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. While stationed in Memphis, Tenn., he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Josefa Serna of Mercedes; daughters, Mana Serna of McAllen, Janie (Leo) Tucker of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dora (Ruben) Serna Diaz of McAllen and Mary ''Cha Cha'' Cavazos of McAllen; grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, R.C. and Daniela; brothers, Julian (Bebe) Serna of San Benito, Isabel (Juanita) Serna of Progreso, Severo (Maria) Serna of Hollon, Mich., and Juan (Chavela) Serna of Mercedes; sisters, Seferina Castillo of Hanford, Calif., San Juanita (Nacho) Gonzalez of Ivanhoe, Calif., and Lupita (Hugo Jr.) de la Rosa of Weslaco. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luz Serna and Francisca Vento.

ALAMO -- Frederick A. H. Bessell, 81, died Thursday, August 27, 1998, at his residence in Alamo. Mr. Bessell was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Bessell of Alamo; two daughters, Sharon Rose Hanson and Linda Hoover, both of Okarche, Okla.; two sons, Fred Bessell of Camp Point, Ill., and David M. Bessell of Franklin, Ill., eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alamo at 2 p.m. There will be no burial. His wishes were to be cremated.

MISSION - Wenceslado Cantu Jr., 46, joined his beloved mother, Genoveva Salinas in eternal rest on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at Mission Hospital. Mr. Cantu was a lifelong resident of Mission, a 1970 graduate of Mission High School and a dedicated employee of Southwestern Bell for 25 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Rafaela M. Cantu of Mission; his sons, Wenceslado Cantu III, stationed at Tinker AFB, Okla., Gabriel A. (Catherine N.) Cantu, stationed at Travis AFB, Calif., and Josue R. Cantu of Mission; two sisters, Benita (Nicandro) Segovia of Pharr and Flora (Juan) Alvarez of San Antonio; one brother, Lorenzo Galarza of San Antonio; step-father, Andres Galarza; step-brother and step-sister, Armando and Erika Galarza; and mother-in-law, Gudelia Pinon, and family.

CHARLES A. OTTO
DANVILLE, Calif. -- Charles A. Otto, a retired telephone employee of 38 years, died in Danville, Calif., following hospitalization due to heart complications.
He resided in Bellevue, Mich., for 50 years prior to moving to Texas. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. During the time he was employed with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company, he was presented with the Vail Award of Heroism. He was an elected member of the Bellevue Community School Board for 12 years, and served as an active member of both the Bellevue Lions Club and Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and an active volunteer in community activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and jeeping in Colorado where he spent his summers in Ouray after retirement.
He is survived by Marjorie ''Marge'' Beckner Otto, his wife of 52 years of Mission; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Joyce Otto of Ostego, Mich., son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Janice Otto of Danville, Calif., son and daughter-in-law, William and Kristine Otto of Friendswood, Texas; two brothers, Bernard D. Otto of Bellevue, Mich., and Richard L. Otto of Bellevue, Mich.; grandchildren, Christine Decator, Paula Otto, Brian Otto, and Amanda Otto; step-grandchildren, Matthew McPherson and Melissa McPherson; great-granddaughter, Sydney Decator; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Bellevue United Methodist Church on Aug. 15, 1998, at 3 p.m. with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.

CATHRYN NICHOLS BARNETT ADERHOLD
EDINBURG -- Cathryn Nichols Barnett Aderhold died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at her home near Edinburg. Born Aug. 4, 1915, Cathryn grew up in the Big Bend country and lived most of her adult life in or near San Antonio until her marriage to Herndon Aderhold Jr. of Edinburg 10 years ago.
She was a member of the DAR, the Texas Republic, Friends of the Library, and was a past travel agent and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio.
She is survived by her husband, Herndon Aderhold Jr.; a daughter, Barbara Barnett of Karnes City; and two stepchildren, Don and wife, Dee, Aderhold, and Debbie Aderhold of Oklahoma City, Okla. Arrangements are under the direction of Skinner-Silva Funeral Home in Edinburg, pending the arrival of relatives.

Ronald R. Braun, 56
formerly of Southern Indiana, having lived in Mt. Vernon, Evansville, and Otwell and most recently residing in Weslaco, Texas
died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at 3:20 p.m. CST. He had battled severe heart disease for the past five years. His valiant battle ended at the McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen.
He is survived by his wife, Fran, and children, Mark of Vincennes, Ind., Matthew and Daniel of Evansville, Ind., Carle Silzer of Lockport, Ill., and Sherry Allotta of Los Alamitos, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Russell of Petersburg, Ind., Richard of Princeton, Ind, Roy of Evansville, Ind., and sisters, Margaret Gordon of Maple Heights, OH., Madonna Bush and Mary Braun of Velpen, Ind., and Myra Traylor of Otwell, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Sue McCaslin, and parents, Ocie and Christopher.
Mr. Braun worked for 22 years for a major oil company and had just taken an early retirement for health reasons. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Weslaco Elks Lodge, and Petersburg, Ind. Moose Lodge.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Braun's memory.

Aurelio Salinas, 43, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in Mission. He was preceded in death by his mother, Herminia V. Salinas in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Anna Salinas of Palmview; four sons, Aurelio, Michael Anthony, Eric Christopher and Jacob Daniel Salinas, all of Palmview; his father, Francisco Salinas Sr. of Los Ebanos; five brothers, Guadalupe Salinas, Francisco Salinas, Jr. and Juan Salinas, all of Sullivan City, Pedro Salinas of La Joya and Hermilo Salinas of McAllen; and two sisters, Maria Rosa Vela of Mission and Maria Cristela Perez of Sullivan City.

Judge Santos F. Saldana, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Driscoll, Texas, Judge Saldaņa was a former County Clerk from 1967-1982. He retired in 1987 after serving one term as Hidalgo County Judge. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include a son, Santos Saldaņa Jr. of Austin; three daughters, Selene Saldaņa of Houston, Texas, Sylvia Ann Treviņo of Pharr and Sonya E. Tijerina of Raymondville; four brothers, Robert Saldaņa of Driscoll, Texas, Ralph Saldana of Michigan, Juan Saldana Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas and Tony Saldaņa of Corpus Christi, Texas; three sisters, Enriqueta Cipriano of Edcouch, Eva Mata of Fresno, California, and Albesa San Miguel of Driscoll, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira C. Saldaņa, on May 4, 1996.
Pallbearers are Jesus ``Chuy'' Canales, Dr. Fernando Ortegon, Norberto Salinas, Rene Guerra, Lauro Saldana, Martin Hinojosa, Salvador Calderoni, Enrique Garza and Paul Garza. Honorary pallbearers are Jose A. Bravo and Sonny Martinez.
Visitation will start at 5 p.m. today, Feb. 11, 1998. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Father Willy Verboomen will officiate. Interment will follow at Valverde Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Donna.
