CRECENCIO M. SANCHEZ
COAHUILA — Crecencio M. Sanchez, 86, was born in Coahuila, Mexico. Mr. Sanchez was employed by Tri-Pack Machinery for 53 years. Mr. Sanchez retired in August 1998 at the age of 85.
He is survived by his wife Maria Dolores Sanchez of McAllen; four sons, Crecencio Sanchez, Jr. of Edinburg, Francisco and Jose Manuel Sanchez, both of McAllen and Anicento Sanchez of Alton; four daughters, Rosa Maria Espinosa and Maria Dolores Blanco, both of McAllen, Graciela Espinosa of Edinburg and Maria De La Luz Gonzalez of McAllen; and a sister, Maria Antonia Sanchez of McAllen; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary being recited today, Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Ceballos Funeral Home in McAllen. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, 1999, at St. Joseph the Worker in McAllen. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

DOROTHY MARY NORDMEYER
McALLEN — Dorothy Mary Nordmeyer, RN, 82, died on Friday, April 30, 1999, at Las Palmas Nursing Center in McAllen. She was born in 1916 in Hunt, Texas.
She became a Registered Nurse at the McAllen Hospital in 1937. She traveled throughout South Texas and Northern Mexico assisting Dr. Octavio Garcia in bringing medical services to rural communities. She was an Army Nurse at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio during World War II. After the death of her husband, Dr. Arthur Nordmeyer in 1969, she resumed her nursing career and retired as Director of Nurses at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in McAllen in 1990.
Mrs. Nordmeyer is survived by her three daughters, Hope Nordmeyer of Houston, Texas, Susan Nordmeyer of Santa Fe, N.M., and Sharon Nordmeyer Key and her husband Stephen of Providence, R.I. as well as two grandchildren, John Stroud of San Francisco, Calif. and Sara Stroud of Berkeley, Calif.; also a brother, Jack Hope of Joshua Tree, Calif.; a nephew, Glenn Tanner of Austin, Texas and beloved friend and "daughter" Mary Sanchez of Mission.
She was preceded in death by two other brothers, Ted and Robert Hope. She will be remembered by those who loved her and knew her for her courageous spirit, indomitable will and her commitment to service.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Kreidler Funeral Home on North 10th Street. The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, May 3, 1999, at Kreidler Memorial Chapel on North Taylor Road with Rev. Sharon Nordmeyer Key officiating and assisted by Rev. John Craig.
John Stroud, Sara Stroud, Juventino Gutierrez, Felipe Gasca, Keith Kinsolving and Stephen Key will act as pallbearers.

JOHN C. DURRENBERGER
DONNA — John C. Durrenberger, 67, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at the Comfort House in McAllen after a lengthy illness. John retired from Thermac Logging of Corpus Christi after more than 25 years of service. In 1979 he moved to the Donna area, where he lived until his death. John had great love for the Native Americans.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Connie of Donna; son, John (Precious) of Corpus Christi; daughter, Linda (Gerald) McCormick of Goliad; grandsons, Jeffery Palmer of Hawaii and Matthew Durrenberger of Goliad; father, Dr. Joseph Durrenberger of Valdosta, Ga.; and brother, Joe Warren (Isabel) Durrenberger of Arizona. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Durrenberger.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Val Verde Cemetery in Donna. The Rev. Robert Soto, pastor of the Grace Brethern Church of McAllen, will officiate. Burial will follow at Val Verde Cemetery in Donna.

JESSE LEE CHENOWETH
McALLEN — Jesse Lee Chenoweth, 88, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Briarcliff Nursing Home. Chenoweth was born in Du Quoin, Ill., to Jesse Foster Chenoweth and Grace Gammon. He had lived in the McAllen area since 1977. He came from Carbondale, Ill. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Christopher, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the Shriners Ainad Temple in Belleville, Ill., and Elks Lodge in Carbondale, Ill., and in Harlingen and McAllen. In Illinois, he coached basketball, gymnastics and golf. He was highly respected and a longtime educator in Illinois. Chenoweth was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, mushroom connoisseur and genealogist.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Chenoweth of McAllen; daughters, Melissa Jane Samford of Freemont, Calif., and Dixie Lee Goro of McAllen; five granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and one sister, Irene Vaughn of Zeigler, Ill. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Finis and Roy; and a daughter, Julianne Wester.
A memorial service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in McAllen with Jerry Ervine of Elks Lodge of McAllen officiating.
Mr. Chenoweth will be taken to Christoper, Ill. for a graveside service at Mulkeytown Cemetery in Mulkeytown, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Friends of the Library in McAllen.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Virgil Wilson Mortuary in McAllen.
RALPH ARTHUR TALBOYS
McALLEN — Ralph Arthur Talboys, 67, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at his home. He was born April 21, 1932, and had lived in the Rio Grande Valley for 29 years.He became a self-employed certified public accountant after graduating from Michigan State University.
Talboys served in the U.S. Air Force as a captain during the Korean conflict and was a military comptroller.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Abernathy Talboys of McAllen; sons, D. Lee Talboys (Lisa) of Baltimore, and Greg Talboys (Lynette) of Haleiwa, Hawaii; daughter, Melanie Talboys of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; stepdaughter, Jenny Lynn Abernathy Gruehr (Andy) of Greenfield, Ind.; brother, Lee Talboys (Margaret) of Mason, Mich.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 301 W. Pecan, in McAllen. The Rev. Jarrell Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.

HAROLD JOSEPH DONIGAN SR.
EDINBURG — Harold Joseph Donigan Sr., 79, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Edinburg Regional Hospital.
Born Dec. 15, 1919, in Millington, Mich., Harold Donigan left the snow-frosted fields at the age of 9 to begin his new life in the sunny Rio Grande Valley. After a ten-day drive, he arrived with his parents, Charles and Anna Jensen Donigan, and three sisters, Dorothy, Darlene, and Anna Marie, in December of 1928, where they made their new home in Edinburg. He worked side by side with his father farming and caring for citrus groves in the La Blanca and Raymondville area. In 1940, he began a 33-year career as a mechanic with Golden Jersey Creamery, interrupted from 1941 to 1946 by World War II and service in the United States Navy.
He later worked at Cactus Iron Works until his retirement in 1986.
A devoted father, he is survived by two sons, Harold Joseph Donigan Jr. of Edinburg, and Charles Thomas (Kathy) Donigan of Houston; and five grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda and Alex Donigan of McAllen, and Lindsay and Kyle Donigan of Houston. He is also survived by two sisters, Darlene Symm of Fort Worth, and Anna Marie Schroeder (Charles) of Renton, Wash., and one nephew and four nieces.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Skinner-Silva Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at 10 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church in Edinburg, with the Rev. Mark Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens with military honors to be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8788 in McAllen.
The family suggests that donations be made to a favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are with Skinner-Silva Funeral Home in Edinburg.
DANIEL JAVIER TREVIÑO
EDINBURG — Daniel Javier Treviño, 49, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Jesus and Mary Nieto. He had a short battle with cancer. He was originally from Chicago, Ill.
Born Dec. 3, 1949, he retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service as a master sergeant.
He is survived by his children, Caresa (Kitz) Treviño Viuya, Angela Treviño and Frank Treviño, of the Philippines; his parents, Francisco and Maria Treviño of Berwyn, Ill.; his siblings, Mary (Jesus) Nieto of Edinburg, Julia (Javier) Palos of Berwyn, Ill., Norma (Alan) Szymczak of Plainfield, Ill, Frank (Maria Elena) Treviño of Berwyn, Ill., Margaret Ermalowicz, of Berwyn, Ill., and Delilah (Mike) Icenogle of Beardstown, Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. He was preceded death by his son, Anthony Treviño in 1980.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 11, 1999, at Trinity Worship Center in Pharr, with Pastor Edward R. Haspany officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. VFW Post No. 8788 of McAllen will conduct military honors.
Funeral services are being directed by Gonzalez Funeral Home in Edinburg.
GRACE LOBERT AGAN
LAGO VISTA — Grace Lobert Agan, 79, of Lago Vista, died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Angleton-Danbury Hospital in Angleton, Texas.
Mrs. Agan was born in Walters, Okla., on Aug. 1, 1919, and was a Lago Vista resident for 20 years after previously living in Donna for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Lonnie B. Agan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam Ranck and husband, John of Arlington, and Candy Adams and husband, Michael of Angleton, Texas; and three grandchildren, Kendra Estrada, Brittny Cellars and Loni Adams; and one great-grandson, Drew Estrada.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at Beck Funeral Home Chapel in Cedar Park, Texas, with burial on Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, in Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth.

TERESA C. PINA
ELSA — Teresa C. Pina, 67, was born in Engleman Gardens on Oct. 15, 1931, and died at her residence on Feb. 10, 1999, following a lengthy illness. A beloved mother, grandmother and sister, she lived in Elsa all of her life and will be greatly missed.
Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Javier Pina Sr., in 1958; and her mother, Anna Maria Flores, in 1990. She is survived by her son, Javier Pina Jr., daughter-in-law, Mary Pina and grandchildren, Javier Pina III and Denise Pina, all of Donna; brother, Jesus Flores of Elsa; sisters, Maria Sosa of Elsa, Guadalupe De Leon of Mercedes, Ma. Socorro Lozano of Milford, Ind., and Esperanza Cantu of Dos Palos, Calif.
Visitation was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Guerra Funeral Home in Elsa. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 12, 1999, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Monte Alto. Celebrant will be the Rev. Emanuel Bialoncik. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Mauricio Cantu, Jose De Leon Jr., Jesus (Jay) Flores Jr., Alex Lozano Jr., Atilano Pina and Manuel Rivera will have the honor to serve as pallbearers and honored as honorary pallbearers will be Javier Pina III, John Serow and Alex Villarreal Jr.

DONNA — Telesfora Hernandez, 86, entered eternal rest Wednesday evening, Feb. 10, 1999, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
A lifelong resident of Donna, Mrs. Hernandez was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Y. Hernandez, who passed away on April 16, 1982.
A loving and devoted mother, she is survived by one son, Antonio (Elida) Hernandez Jr. of Donna; six daughters, Guadalupe (Jose) Escalon of Donna, Juaquina (Pedro) Gonzalez of Weslaco, Antonia (Alvedro) Sosa of Donna, Francisca (Carlos) Balderas of Stephenville, Maria (Lionel) Yanez of Donna and Juanita ( Juan) Campos of Donna; two brothers, Agustin Salinas of Kansas and Heriberto Salinas of Donna; two sisters, Elena Yanez of Donna and Bertha Alvarez of Donna; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Hernandez will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

FALCON — Felix Ramos, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, in McAllen.
Born in Falcon, Mr. Ramos was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving his tour in North Africa and Italy.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda (Jaime) Gonzalez of Falcon; one stepson, Eliseo (Leticia) Rosas of Falcon; two grandchildren, Joshua and Cody O. Gonzalez; and three other grandchildren; one sister, Arabela (Adulfo) Muñoz of Zapata; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Santa Ana Catholic Church in Falcon. The funeral procession will depart Buitron Funeral Home Chapel at 8:30 a.m. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 12, 1999, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Buitron Funeral Home Chapel in Zapata. Burial will follow at Falcon Cemetery.

OSCAR CUEVAS Sr.
EDINBURG — Oscar Cuevas Sr., 64, went to be with our Lord Feb. 13, 1999.
Mr. Cuevas was ordained a Permanent Deacon in May 1990. He served the parish of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Deacon Cuevas also served in the U.S. Army, and retired from American National Life Insurance after 24 years. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community of Edinburg; as well as all the lives he touched.
Deacon Cuevas was preceded in death by his spouse, Ernestina Cuevas in August 1999. He is survived by his children, Diana (Ron) Alaniz of Edinburg, Oscar (Cindy) Cuevas Jr. of California; his father, Pedro Cuevas; siblings, Corina (John) Clark, Ramiro (La Dean) Cuevas, Maria Elia (Jose Jesus) Ramirez, Abdiel (Rosario) Cuevas, Rachel (Manuel) Hernandez, and Nora (James) Bowell; and his grandchildren, Ronaldo Alaniz, Jr., David Eric Alaniz, James Oscar Cuevas, Ana Cuevas, and Peter Robert Cuevas.
Visitation for Deacon Cuevas will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 1999 at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A holy rosary will follow at 7 p.m. that same evening (Monday) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. MISSION – Herminio Pena, 74, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 1999 at Mission Hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1924 in Cruillas, Tamps., Mexico.
Mr. Pena is survived by his wife, Julia Pena of Mission; three sons, Ambrocio Pena of Mission, Herminio Pena Jr. of Minneapolis, MN, and Sergio Pena of St. Paul, MN; seven daughters, Virginia Davila, Maria H. Aguilar, Maria Minerva Valdez and Frances Martinez, all of Mission, Celia Aguirre and Nora Alicia Castillo, both of McAllen and Olivia Rocio of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Jose Pena and Domingo Pena, both of Reynosa, Tamps., Mexico; and a sister, Odilia Pena of Tamaulipas, Mexico; 29 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitations will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a rosary at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 1999 at Ceballos Funeral Home in McAllen. Chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

MISSION – Nassarro Palomares, 79, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1919, in Doctor Cos., Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Mr. Palomares is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Palomares of Mission; three brothers, Eliso, Juan and Humberto Palomares, all of Nuevo Leon, Mexico; and a sister, Maria Luisa Palomares of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Funeral service for Mr. Palomares will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 1999 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
