Funeral Services for Freddie Jo Purvis, 65, of Corrigan, Texas will held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Lesly Wilkinson officiating. Interment to follow in the Stryker Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs. Purvis was born April 7, 1943 in Groveton, Texas and passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a Baptist by faith. She is preceded in death by her parents: Howard & Edith (Bass) Maxey; son: Dewayne Purvis; sisters: Margaret Tatum, Barbra Watts & Noreene Maxey; great-grandson: Joseph Michael.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Cleo Purvis of Corrigan, Texas; sons & daughters-in-law: Edmond & Tonia Purvis, Kevin & Kim Purvis, Howard and Rachel Purvis all of Corrigan, Texas; Terrill Purvis of Charleston, West Virginia; brothers & sisters-in-law: Johnny & Armartha Maxey of Diboll, Texas; Howard & Betty Maxey of Huffman, Texas; grandchildren: Amber Purvis, Dewayne D. Purvis, Wesley Purvis, Ian Purvis, Adam Purvis, Evan Purvis, Alexis Purvis, Brooke Purvis, Taylor Purvis, Dylan Purvis, Zackary Purvis, Kolton Chase Parham, Amber Facundo, Skye Pounds, and Chelsea Rachal; great-grandchildren: Katelynn Chunn, Dewayne Edmond Purvis, Thomas Brandon Purvis, and Kenley Purvis.

Jesse Earl Duke Jr.
September 3, 1949 - June 23, 2008

Funeral services for Jesse Earl Duke Jr., age 58, will be held at 4:00 P.M., Friday, June 27, 2008 at Pace Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Eric Giberson and Jack Roe officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. Interment service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. He was an active member of The Church House, as well as a member of the York Wright Masons and a Vietnam Veteran. He passed away at his residence, June 23, 2008.

Jesse was born on September 3, 1949 in Livingston, Texas to Jesse Earl Duke Sr., and Georgia Earlene Shoemaker Duke. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, marathon cycling, snorkeling, scuba diving, and parachuting. Jesse was about to complete his pilot's license. Jesse Duke served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 31 January 1969 to 19 September 1970. During his service Jesse was awarded the Army Commendation medal in December 1969, the army commendation medal first oak leaf cluster in February 1970, and the Bronze star medal in March 1970, and the Bronze star first oak leaf cluster in September 1970. He also received the National Defense service medal, the Vietnam service medal, and the Vietnam Campaign medal. Jesse was attached to the 25th Infantry Division and received these awards while participating in ground operations in Vietnam and Cambodia. Jesse was preceded in death by his grandparents John Alvin and Jesse Bernice Little of Livingston; father Jesse Earl duke Sr. of Hobbs, New Mexico, nephew Sean Duke of Brazoria, aunt Opal Loftin of Livingston, and brother-in-law Raymond Bourgea of Houston. Surviving him is his wife Diane Bourgea Duke of Dayton, daughters Jennifer Hernandez of Dayton, Shannon Michelle Duke and Fiance' Carlos Solis of Damon, and Louanna and Bryan Castellano of colorado Springs, Colorado. Mother Georgia Earlene Schulz, step-father Marvin Schulz of Brazoria, one brother, Michael Ray Duke and wife Rhonda of Brazoria. Father-in-law, Ray Bourgea and Mother-in-law, Leona Bourgea of Fredericksburg, Texas. Grandchildren, Jewell Trevino of Dayton, Michael and Alexandria Hernandez of Colorado, and Antonio and Sinthiana Solis of Damon. One niece, Jessica and Husband Carl Meuth of Jones Creek, Great nephews and niece include Jody, Jayden and Cyiera of Jones Creek, and Aunt Sandra Kimes and Uncle Bobby of Livingston.

Bernice L. Todd
March 29, 1919 - June 19, 2008

Funeral services for Bernice L. Todd, age 89, were held Monday, June 23, 2008 at Pace Funeral Home, with Rev. Lindale Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in Restland Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Mrs. Todd passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Pine Ridge Health Care Center in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Todd was born in Fargo, Oklahoma, March 29, 1919 to Jess and Nellie Hendren Bennett, whom precede her in death. Also preceding her in death are her two sons, Howard R. Shapley and Jack L. Shapley: a daughter Nelda Shanks; two brothers; Glenn Bennett and Bill Bennett and one sister Leia Fordice. Mrs. Todd was a seamstress, loved to cook, and was a wonderful mother and wife.

Her survivors include her husband Elbert D. "Buck" Todd, sons; Gary J. Todd and wife Evelyn from Angleton, Doyle L. Todd from Cleveland, daughters; Gwen Wilson and husband James P. from Livingston; Martha G. Blackerby and husband Stan from Cleveland; Doylene Allen and husband Dwayne from Angleton. four sisters; Lois Callaway, Kathy Jester, Bets Summerall and Irene Phillips. Twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Rosslyn Jones, Jr.
June 8, 1942 - June 14, 2008

Funeral services for Robert Rosslyn Jones, Jr., age 66, were held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 10:00 AM, in the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Don Wilkey officiating, burial followed in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Visitation was held Tuesday evening, June 17, 2008 from six to eight.

Mr. Jones passed away at the Timberwood Nursing Home, in Livingston, Texas, June 14, 2008.

Robert was born June 8, 1942, to Robert Rosslyn and Dortha Mullndore Jones, Sr., whom precede him in death.

Robert Loved to fish. He was with Tex Marc for 30 years, belonged to the VFW, American Legion and Fire school. He belonged to the First Baptist Church of Onalaska.

His survivors include his wife, Gloris Jones; stepson, Jerry Smith and wife Tammy of Humble, Texas, Daughter, Tammara Jones; sisters, Linda Kacsito and husband John of Orange Beach, AL; Jackie McLauchlin and husband Howard of Berrien Spring, Michigan; two step-grandchildren Lauren and Sarah Smith, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were J.W. Smith, Jr., Dr. Pat LeBlanc, John Kacsito and Howard McLauchlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Foundation.

Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

July 27, 1910 - June 7, 2008

Funeral Services for Tempie Hood, 97, of Camden, Texas will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008 in the Lily Island Missionary Baptist Church in Camden, Texas with Rev. Charles Darden officiating. Interment will follow in the Lily Island Cemetery in Camden, Texas.

Mrs. Hood was born July 27, 1910 in Camden, Texas and passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 in Humble, Texas. She was homemaker and a member of the Lily Island Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by parents: Ben and Elizabeth (Freeman) Jones and son: Wallace Hood.

She is survived by her granddaughter: Tammy Williams of Hempstead, Texas; 2 great granddaughters; devoted nieces: Jewel Bailey, Helen Jermany, and Betty Jones; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Pallbearers: Ben Jones Jr., Michael Jones, Albert Wyatt, Marvin Hood, Don Stelly, and Roy Rainey.

Mrs. Purvis was born October 28, 1929 in Cleveland, Texas and passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents: William Brown & Irie (Sherman) Stephens; daughter: JoAnn Goldman; sisters: Odell Gage, Lillie Meadows, Bobbie Jean Carter, Helda Stephens; brother: J.C. Stephens; grandson: Carl Shandy Kingston; grand-daughter: Lisa Goldman.

Mrs. Myers was born June 20, 1936 in Houston, Texas and passed away Monday, June 2, 2008 in Sealy, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Catholic by faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ruby Burke; and brothers: Hugh, Joe, David, and Ed Burke.

She is survived by her son: Preston Robert Myers III of Edna, Texas; daughters and son-in-law: Renita Ruby Myers Durbin of Lafayette, Louisiana, Rhonda Beth Myers Jordan of Columbus, Texas, Rochelle Marie and Larry Paul Hoelscher; brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Joan Burke of League City, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law: Melanie and Gene Britt of Pearland, Texas, Ellen and Ted Ryan of Fulshur, Texas, Cindy and Norm Williamson of Dallas, Texas, 13 grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Frank was born September 5, 1941 in El Campo, Texas and passed away Monday, June 2, 2008 in his home in Corrigan, Texas. He was self employed as a carpenter and Episcopal by faith. He is preceded in death by parents: Henry H. and Delores (Carona) Frank; son: Terry Dean Frank; grandson: Zane Frank; granddaughter: Nancy Frank; and sister: Carolyn Pursley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Francis Barringer Frank; sons and daughter-in-law: Travis Ray Frank of Helena, Arkansas, Tim Wade Frank of Corrigan, Texas, and Thomas Aaron and Lisa Frank of Corrigan, Texas; daughters and son-in-law: Tracy Leigh Rhoden of Corrigan, Texas, and Toni JoLaine and A.D. Sailer Jr. of Trevat, Texas; brother and sister-in-law: Benny J. and Carrol Frank of Pearland, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Her survivors include her mother Cruz Dabila Young, her daughter Audrey Young of Pflugerville, TX; brothers, Joe Flores of New Caney, TX; Ellic Flores and wife Lucille of Livingston, TX, sisters. Ann Tanner and husband Don of Livingston, Peggy Kosina and husband Joey of Moscow, Lorrene Stokes and Husband John of Livingston, Tx.

Clyde was born in Hardin County, Texas, May 7, 1913 to Lalla Marcontell who precedes him in death. He passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Livingston Convalescent Center. Clyde was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Livingston. His survivors include his nephew, Dub and wife Joey Lynch, two nieces Linda Muth from Roswell, GA. and Marsha Mason from Beaumont, Tx. In Lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Foreign Missions Division of the United Pentecostal Church International.

Linda was born January 8, 1950 in Port Arthur, Tx., to parents Wade and Gloria Gillard. She married her husband David George Manning on October 21, 1989. Together they joined the Blanchard Baptist Church were she was a faithful and active member.

Linda is survived by her husband, children Kenneth Willis of Carrollton, Ky, Toby Willis of Houston, Michelle Saulters of Votaw, Tx, David W. Manning of Livingston, Tx, Debra Jackson of Tomball, Tx, Lisa Turner of Spring Branch, Tx, and Carolyn Russell of Alvin, Tx., brothers Wade Joseph Gillard Jr., of League City, Tx, James Dudley Gillard of Port Acres, Tx, sisters Patricia Ann Taylor of Bridge City, Tx, Judy Ann Dugas of Nederland, Tx, Debra Sue Huard, of Nederland. Her 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive her.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Saulters, Trey Jackson, Gerald Saulters, Bobby Russell, and James Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Willis, Chase Willis, Hunter Willis, Wayatt Williams, Garrett Saulters.
