Funeral services for Thelma Long age 82 of Livingston, Texas will be held Tuesday November 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston with Rev. Tom Owen officiating and interment to follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

She was born December 21, 1927 in Livingston, Texas the daughter of Otis & Mary Cain Warren and passed away October 29, 2010 in Houston. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Otis “Poochie” Long, and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her nephews, Don Taylor of Liberty, Texas, Floyd Carrell, Jr., of Mt. Olive, North Carolina, Larry Don Murphy, of Liberty, Texas, Mike Murphy, of Liberty, and Connie George Carrell of Conroe, Texas, Mary Lee Murphy, sister of Liberty, Alma Rainey, sister in law of Wilmer, Texas and Pauline Taylor of Liberty, Texas.

Donald Edward Purvis, age 71 of Lufkin, Texas, passed away October 29, 2010 in Lufkin, Texas.

He was born April 19, 1939 in Waller, Texas the son of William & Mildred Stuckey Purvis. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by Nancy & Michael Lightfoot, daughter & son in law of Lufkin, Texas, Mark & Patti Purvis, son and daughter in law of Pollock, Texas, George Purvis & Pat, brother & sister in law of Conroe, Texas, Marlene Purvis, wife of Canton, Texas, grandchildren; Meagan Lightfoot, J.C. Purvis, Leslie Burns, and Justin Hill, great grandchildren are; Brylee Burns, Nolan Burns and Brody Burns.

Gary Wayne Johns
October 19, 1976 - October 24, 2010

Gary Wayne Johns was Born October 19th, 1976 and Died in a tragic tractor accident on October 24th, 2010. He turned 34 years young just the week before he died. He is survived by His loving wife, Laura Johns. His Son Nickolas, 11. His Daughters Raeanna, 21, Sumer, 16, and Dakota, 15.He had one grand daughter (2), and another grand daughter on the way. He also leaves behind His Mother Linda Oliver, step-dad john Oliver. Father, Larry Johns, Brother, David Johns, sister-in-law Katie, and their son Fletcher, 11. Brother Daniel Johns, sister-in-law Jennifer, and their children Brittney, 12, Megan, 11, and Jeremy, 7.

Gary was born in Florida but he lived and died in Livingston, Texas. Gary Johns and his wife Laura are the previous owners of the well loved hot spot "DJ'S Coffee Hut". Gary was a spectacular man, he was spunky, funny, and straight forwardly blunt. He Believed in family, fun and hard work. Honesty's' the best policy type of guy. He was a bit of a trouble maker growing up, however the Navy made him into a man. His primary specialty while in the Navy was, Field calibration activity technician(Electrical/Electronic). While in the navy he received the Expert rifleman metal, and the Good conduct Metal. His military Education includes Avionics common core, Gcams, AV "I" level, and B and D. He received an honorable discharge after 7 years of splendid service to his country. His service in the navy made him into the man we all knew and love.

Gary learned and lived (as well as preached) his favorite saying, "Seize every moment in your life, tomorrow you may die...". He had a heart to heart with a 12 year old boy about life and the lessons you learn through out life. As well as living every day as if it were your last, because tomorrow you may not be here; This talk was just an hour before he died. Gary Johns believed that he was here to teach everyone in his life something. We learned something new from him EVERYDAY. He taught me quite a bit, He will be loved and missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Memorial services to be held on October 31, 2010 at noon. Services will be held at Pedigo Park in Livingston Texas on the 59 freeway, (north of town on the south bound side), between the hospital and Wal-Mart.

A Come one come all, "Pot Luck" Fund Raiser, will be held For the family From 10:00AM - Unknown, This will be held at the same location, (in Pedigo Park), on November 6th, 2010, along with a military honors, preformed by the local VFW #8568 Honor Guard. Any food and/Or Donations will be accepted and appreciated.

Gary had some special friends that really meant a lot to him. We would like to take the time to thank each and everyone of them for their continued love, friendship, and support through out this, the hardest part of our life’s. Dustin, Bill, Brandon Logan, Angie and Russell, Jean and Pat, Amy, Gary, TJ, Shane, Becky, David and Susan (&Family), Donald, Jonathan, John and Elaine (and Family). Connie, C. J. Tina, Doug, Tommy and Leslie. Along with all his friends from Twitter, Facebook, and the customers of DJ’s Coffee Hut.

Randal Verdell “Randy” Bridges
August 21, 1958 - October 23, 2010

Funeral services for Randal Verdell “Randy” Bridges, 52, of Corrigan, will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Jones, Tom Selman and Kent Henson officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Bridges was born August 21, 1958, in Lufkin, Texas. He died Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Cherokee County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Bridges was a retired lieutenant for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and was currently employed as Assistant Manager for Cavender’s. Mr. Bridges was also a former Angelina County Sheriff’s Department sergeant. He was a 1976 graduate of Lufkin High School, and a graduate of the Police Academy in Kilgore. He was also a Law Enforcement instructor for Angelina College. Mr. Bridges was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed deejaying at special events, hunting, fishing, playing golf and softball, and coaching and officiating baseball. Formerly of Lufkin, he had resided in Corrigan for the past 12 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Kacie Bridges of Dallas; his son, Shane Bridges of College Station; father and mother, Buddy and Juanita Bridges of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Nita Jo and Randy Farr of Venton, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Cindy Bridges of Apple Springs; grandmother, Artis Morris of Lufkin; mother of his children, Vanessa Bridges of Lufkin; a number of nieces and nephews who called him “Uncle Bub;” as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Winnie Bridges, and Verdell Morris.

Pallbearers will be Mike Capps, Reggie Bridges, Brian Squyres, Chad Doucet, Scott Bridges, Jeremy Farr, Brad Farr, Trey Purvis and Terry Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be Angelina County and Polk County Law Enforcement Officers, Matt Hughes, Marlon Hughes, and Kendall Hughes.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

James Carlton Cox, Jr
September 1, 1942 - October 24, 2010

James Carlton Cox, Jr. went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his residence in Huntsville, Texas. Mr. Cox was born September 1, 1942 in El Paso, Texas to James Carlton Sr. and Dorothy Faye Hitchcock. Mr. Cox was a proud veteran of the Marine Corp. and worked for the San Jacinto County Sheriff department, he belonged to the Harvest Field Church in Carlos, Texas. He is survived by his father, James Carlton Sr.; his Children, Kimberly Ann Cox, Kathleen Nicole Cox, Crystal Lee Pool, Shannon Marie Torcoletti, James Carlton Cox III, John Corlis Cox; brother Phillip Curtis Cox, Fifteen grandchildren and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Faye Hitchcock. Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00pm Wednesday at the Raven Hill Homestead. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Knudsen

John Knudsen age 62 of Shepherd passed away October 24, 2010 in Kingwood, Texas.

He was born March 20, 1948 in Wassau, WI., the son of Luther & Jean Beckett Knudsen.

Evelyn Rasberry

She marriage Carel Rasberry and they moved to Livingston in 1955 and shortly thereafter, they opened their business, Farmers Supply, on Highway 59, and operated for over 30 years until Carel’s death in 1996.

Evelyn was a founding member of the Livingston Country Club and a life time member of the Methodist church, where she also served as secretary of the Endowment Fund. She and Carel were also founding members of the Polk County Youth Rodeo, along with numerous other civic and community projects.

She is survived by, Greg & Sadie Rasberry, son and daughter in law, Roselyn & Joe Shirley, daughter & son in law, Guy & Cynthia Rasberry, son and daughter in law and Carolyn Einkauf, daughter. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rachel & Justin Cude, Carson Einkauf, Sarah & James Arnett, Gary & Robbie Kessler and Mindy Potor, several great and great great grandchildren also survive.

Robert Alfred Emerson, Jr.
December 31, 1925 - October 17, 2010

Funeral services for Robert Alfred Emerson, Jr., age 84 of Livingston will be held Friday October 22, 2010 in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas at 1:00 PM with Homer Anderson officiating and interment to follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska. Pallbearers will be Bobby Kelley, Walker Fletcher, Jason Fletcher, Jerry Hallmark, Dale Hyatt and Joe Emerson.

He was born December 31, 1925 in Hartburg, Texas the son of Robert A. Emerson, Sr., and Gertrude Brown Emerson and passed away October 17, 2010 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances Elizabeth Emerson, sisters, Dolly Ruth Newell and Marie Long, brothers, Kenneth Emerson and Bill Emerson and grandson Steven Hyatt.

He lived in Houston until 25 years ago when he retired and moved to Onalaska to fish. He went peacefully with his family by his bedside.

He is survived by Del & Shirley Hyatt, son and daughter in law of Missouri City, Texas, Mary & Jerry Hallmark, daughter and son in law of Onalaska, Texas, Judy & Jeff Savitt, daughter & son in law of Toms River, New Jersey, Jimmy & Anita Emerson, brother & sister in law of Cooper, Texas, grandchildren; Bobby Lee Kelley, Walker Fletcher, Jason Fletcher, Elizabeth Ellyson Lyndsey Savitt Inzano and Brandon Savitt, great grandchildren; Christopher Lee Kelley, Keith Ryan Kelley, Brittany Ann Kelley, Faith Elizabeth Fletcher, Elena Ellyson, Josh Ellyson and Marisa Ellyson, great great grandchildren; Landon, Sadie and Kadence.

November 29, 1938 - October 18, 2010

Drue Layton Moon, 71, went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 18, 2010 at her residence in Livingston, Texas. She was born November 29, 1938 to Bert Arthur and Mattie Mae Menees in LasCruces, New Mexico. She was an avid book reader. She is survived by her sons, Robert McArthur, Scott Moon and Adam Moon; daughter, Kelly McArthur; brother, Sonny Menees, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moon and her sister Shirley Davis. A Celebration of Dure’s life will begin at 2:00 PM Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Wet Deck on 350 South. Bernie Mae Robinson

Funeral services for Bernie Mae Robinson, age 89 of Onalaska, Texas will be held Wednesday October 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Onalaska Church Of Christ in Onalaska, Texas, where she was a founding member, with Tony Lallie and Homer Anderson officiating, interment to follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.

She was born July 12, 1923 in Jewett, Texas the daughter of Luther Mullins and Lorena Simpson Mullins and passed away October 16, 2010 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marie Murry and her brothers, Zolan Mullins, Herman, Mullins, Marshall Mullinds and Bernise Mullins.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Robinson, of Onalaska, Texas, Don & Thuy Robinson, son and daughter in law of Onalaska, James Robinson, son of Onalaska, Eric & Colanda Robinson, grandson and wife of Webster, Texas, Dawn Coe, granddaughter of Royal Center, Indiana, Desiree Coe, great granddaughter, Damon Coe, great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was born July 29, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Leander E. Biggs and Opal Wade Biggs. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Elanor Mae Biggs.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Biggs, Gary Lee Biggs, son, Georgia Mae Ellis, daughter, Dr. Gina Renee Thompson, daughter, Gregory Scott Biggs, son, Gigi Lynette Wellot, daughter, Ginger Rae Jones, daughter, Galen Edward Biggs, daughter, Gwen Denise Hardin, daughter, Grant Randall Biggs, son, Clifford Biggs, brother, and Thomas Dyer, Michael Dyer, Stephen Dyer, and Timothy Dyer, stepsons, 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Douglas Barnett, 63, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at his residence in Livingston, Texas. He was born February 11, 1947, to Fred and Lena Tillman Barnett in Detroit Michigan. He was a Machinist for several years in the Houston area. He is survived by his wife Ina Marsh; sons, Rev. Raymond Marsh and wife Leslie of Silsbee, Texas, Doug Barnett of McDonough, Georgia; daughters Mae Barnett and husband Steve Tony of McDonough, Georgia and April Barnett of Gastonia, North Carolina. Mr.Barnett will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life was held at Beech Creek Assembly Of God Church, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 5:00 PM with Bro. Don Goodwin officiating. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Visitation was held Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Pace Funeral Home. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Hudson
February 10, 1947 - October 13, 2010

Funeral services for Jimmy Hudson age 63, of Goodrich will be held Sunday October 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston with Rev. Frank Hood officiating and interment to follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Pallbearers will be Eddie Chatman, Casey Tucker, Thomas Robbins, Chance Hudson, Mike Crim, Jerry Odom, Wayne Tucker and Robert Kelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be Troy Tucker, Mike Robbins, Zack Johnson, Jessie Crim and Michael Crim.

He was born February 10, 1947 in Leggett, Texas the son of Jim Hudson and Maggie Hilton Hudson and passed away October 13, 2010 at his home in Goodrich, Texas.

Jimmy was a life long resident of Polk County where he working in the forestry industry until his retirement. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren was what made life go on for him. He was marriage to his loving wife, Louise, for 45 years and thought the sun rose and set on her. As children, he was the best dad that could have been ask for. He never raised his voice, because he never had to, just a snap of his fingers and “that” look was all that was needed. He always said “I called my wife, kids and dogs the same way, with just a whistle.”

He is survived by his wife Louise Hudson, Cathy & Mike Robbins, daughter & son in law, Carol & Troy Tucker, daughter & son in law, Curt Hudson, son, Minnie Evelyn Odom, sister, James & Debra Hudson, brother & sister in law, grandchildren; Eddie Chatman, Thomas Robbins, Timber Robbins, Casey and Savannah Tucker, Heather Tucker and Chance Hudson, great grandchildren are Alexis and Katey Chatman. Numerous nieces, nephews, and community friends also survive.
