Funeral services for Frank Lowrie, 83, of Onalaska, Texas were held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Don Wilkey Officiating. Interment was held at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX. Pallbearers were Andy Lowrie, Roger Lowrie, Clifton Lowrie, Cotye Lowrie, John Mitchum and Grant Richey. Visitation was held on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home.

He was born September 14, 1927 in Fairview, TX to Richmond and Irene Williams Lowrie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richmond and Irene Williams Lowrie, wife, Rilla Mae Lowrie, sons, Tommy and Timothy Lowrie, sister, Eveline Tucker, brothers, Floyd and Clifton Lowrie. He was retired from the U.S Army.

He is survived by Clifton & Shannon Lowrie, son & daughter-in-law of San Augustine, TX., Andy & Cassandra Lowrie, son & daughter-in-law of Onalaska, TX., Roger & Jeanette Lowrie, son & daughter-in-law of Trinity, TX., Frank Phillip Lowrie, son of California, Donna Sue Parson, daughter of California, Nancy Ann Lowrie, daughter of California, Annie Mae Straughter, sister of Call, TX., Janie Jones, sister of Cleveland, TX., Floyd Jones, brother of Cleveland, TX., 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Edna Taylor White

Edna Taylor White, born January 3, 1919 in Leggett, Texas to Clifton and Zella Taylor, passed away June 16, 2011 in Beaumont, Texas at the age of 92. Edna enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved children to which she fostered around two hundred over a thirty year period. God put her on this earth to take care of children and play 42. She is survived by her son, Arlis Ray White and wife Gladys of Livingston; daughters, Cynthia Hammersly of Onalaska, Dolores Chandler of Beaumont, Lois Kay Arriaga of Houston, Carlene White of Zavalla and Teresa White of Livingston; sister, Ollie Lavern Love of Seattle, Washington; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. White is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dock Eugene; son, Darrell Glenn White; brother, Wilburn Taylor and sister Florida Faye Gay. Visitation will be held Monday, June 20, 2011 from 5-9pm at Pace Funeral Home. A Celebration of Edna’s Life will begin, Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10:00am at Pace Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Isaacs officiating. Interment to follow at Jones Prairie Cemetery in Leggett, Texas.

Clyde Armond Starns

Memorial services for Clyde Armond Starns, 79, of Teauge, Texas will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. David Gatlin officiating.

He was born June 4, 1931 in Independence, Louisiana to Clarence Starns and Edna Moran Starns and passed away on May 21, 2011 in Teauge, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Starns and Edna Moran Starns, brother, Clarence Starns, Jr., sisters, Claudia and Johnny King, brother-in-law, Gail Sanderson.

Clyde is survived by Pauline Sanderson, sister of Cleveland, Texas, Al and Glenda Starns. Cochran Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sister Susie, Betty Alexander

Sister Susie, Betty Alexander, was born in Trinity, TX, Jan 4, 1944. During last years of her life she lived in Onalaska, Tx as she was able to build her home on the very lots of which her family had lived for many years before. She was a truly committed Christian and a founder of her church, for 33 years. She loved her pastor and his family as they so enriched her life in so many ways. (Sister) Susie was well known by her spiritual and holy beliefs in the Pentecostal fellowship. She never shied away from any duties of the church. She was truly in service to her church and to her Lord. Susie is survived by her daughter, Kelly Day and husband Mike; grandchildren, Tyler, Kayley, Matthew and uncle Thomas and wife Lorene Gross. Services were held at The Pentecostal Light house in Schwab City on the corner of FM 943 and State Hwy 146 South. Visitation was held on June, 18, 2011 at 10AM to 12:00 noon, following a celebration of Susie’s life held at 12:30PM, with Pastor Mark Herridge officiating. Interment will be at Alexander Cemetery following the Church service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pentecostal Lighthouse, 7822 State Hwy. 146 S., Livingston, TX 77351 in memory of the holy and spiritual life Susie lead. Waymon “Ray” Votaw, Sr.

Waymon “Ray” Votaw, Sr. was born in Kenefick, Texas on June 3, 1938 and passed away at home after a lengthy illness on June 15, 2011. Ray was the eldest son of the late Thorpe Masterson Votaw and Hazel Ashworth Votaw.

Ray was a graduate of Dayton High School (1956) and Sam Houston State University (1960). He joined the Army as an Engineer officer through the ROTC program and attended the Army‘s aviation school to become a fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He left the military as a Captain and returned to Dayton, Texas to teach and build homes for several years. In 1974, he and his family moved to Livingston, Texas to continue his love of construction, cabinetry and trim carpentry. He also flew fire patrol for the Texas Forest Service.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pamela. He leaves his wife of 49 years Dora, daughter Candace Campenni, her husband Thomas and their children Cary Logan and Caitlyn Rae Vailes of Dallas, Pennsylvania. Son, Waymon Jr., his wife Teresa Buff Votaw, and their children Anna Claire and Christian Votaw of Surgarland, Texas, brothers, Clyde ( and Loretta) Votaw and Gwinn Votaw, nephew, Mike (and Denise) Votaw, and cousin and friend George Votaw and wife Iva and many more relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the team of caregivers from Lighthouse Hospice for their care, support and compassion with a special debt of gratitude to Denise Nellsch and Dennis McClain. The family also thanks the Honor Guard of VFW Post 8568 and the pallbearers, Thom Bruning, Thomas Campenni, Doug Griffin, Edward Munson, Wesley Smith, and Cary Vailes.

Vistitation will be held from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at French Cemetery in Dayton-Kenefick.

She was born September 18, 1935 in Waco, Texas to Hebert M Hiser and Lola Mae Sparks Hiser and passed away on June 13, 2011 in Conroe, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hebert M Hiser and Lola Mae Sparks Hiser, Husband, Perry Jordan, Sister, Daughter, Debra McElmurry, Brother, Donald Hiser.

James Alfred McClain

Funeral Services for James Alfred McClain, 82 of Livingston, Texas will be held Wednesday June 15, 2011 at Central Baptist Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Savage officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

He was born August 2, 1928 in Centralia, Texas to Vhoid Hille McClain and Dorris Winnie Kee and passed away on June 13, 2011 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vhoid Hille McClain and Dorris Winnie Kee and Son, James Earl McClain.

Mr. McClain is survived by Wilma Jean Atwood McClain, Wife of Livingston, Texas, Deborah Kay Parton and husband David of Plano, Texas, Stella Embry, Sister of Pasadena, Texas, Odessa Hudson, Sister of Tomball, Texas, Darlene McClain, Daughter-In-Law of Webster, Texas, Grandchildren, Melody, Jeffrey, Brian and Britton. Roy R. Nelson

Roy R. Nelson born April 27, 1913, in Wallis, Texas, passed away June 10, 2011 in Livingston, Texas at the age of 98. Roy was an Army and Navy veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Geraldine Slocum of Houston; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Woodrow W. Nelson and wife Merle of Livingston; sisters, Iona of Tyler, and Lurline Wilson of Montana. Mr. Nelson is preceded in death by his wife, Sybol Nelson; brothers, Ray Nelson and R.D. Nelson; and sister Dorine Eldridge. Graveside services were held Monday, June 13, 2011 at Bold Springs Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Eva Marie Witherspoon Smith

Funeral services for Eva Marie Witherspoon Smith, 88, of Deer Park, Texas, will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Danny Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Bethel Cemetery in Gary, Texas at 3:00 PM. Pallbearers are Jason Lee Welch, David Pass, Marcus Witherspoon, Ronnie Witherspoon, Scott Anstee, James Langford. Honorary Pallbearers are Bradley James Welch and James Witherspoon.

She was born August 5, 1922 in Panola County, Texas to Marcus L. Witherspoon and Alabama Byrd Witherspoon and passed from this life on June 10, 2011 after a long battle Alzheimer’s disease and lung cancer in Deer Park, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcus L. Witherspoon and Alabama Byrd Witherspoon, sister, Rosa Bell Pass, brother, Woolsey Witherspoon, sister, Emma Joyce “Peggy“ Powell, brother, Burke Witherspoon, sister, Bertie White, and brother, Alton Witherspoon.

Marie is survived by Marcus Earl Welch and Elaine Welch, son and daughter-in-law of Pasadena, Texas, Jason Lee Welch and Kristi Welch, grandson and wife of Pasadena, Texas, Bradley James Welch, great grandson of Pasadena, Texas, Kelly Renee Welch, granddaughter of San Antonio, Texas, Sandra Smith Tedford, step daughter of Pearl, Mississippi, step granddaughters, Kathy and Daneille of Pearl, Mississippi, numerous nieces and nephews of Livingston and Carthage, Texas.

She was a long time resident of Livingston, Texas. She was marriage to Jessie Smith (deceased) and they owned several small businesses over the years. They established a wholesale bait business in the early 1970’s when Lake Livingston opened and provided minnows to numerous marinas and bait shops around the lake.

Marie will be forever in our memory as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to cook for her family, well known for her chocolate fudge, pecan pies, and homemade biscuits. She loved animals and her family often teasingly called her “Ellie Mae.”

His grandchildren, Lynn Humphreys of Livingston, Brian Humphreys of Jesup, Ga., Jennifer Jacobs of Waycross, Ga., Candace Hill of Magnolia, Tx., Ashley Martin of Huntsville, Tx., Eddie Martin of Houston, Tx., Nathan Martone of Prescott, Az., Christina Grassmuck of Waxahachie, Tx., Angela Shahan of Ennis, Tx. and 16 great grandchildren. Reva Nell Norman

Funeral services for Reva Nell Norman age 86 of Onalaska, Texas were held Friday June 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Onalaska with Rev. Don Wilkey officiating interment followed in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.

She was born May 19, 1925 in Union County, Arkansas the daughter of Courtney Roberson and Clyde Harrell Roberson and passed away May 30, 2011 in Livingston, Texas.

She is survived by Harrell & Evelyn Roberson, brother and sister in law of Natchitoches, Louisiana, nieces and nephews; Don and Karen Norman, of Purvis, MS, Carolyn & Bob Nance of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Ginger & Mark Jordan, Florien, LA., Becky & Mark Shoemaker, of Houston, Texas, Derick & Barbara Norman of Purvis, LA, Dwayne & Jackie Norman of Purvis, LA, and Claudia Lebeaux of Purvis, LA. Ronald Petrich

Ronald Petrich, 71, of Onalaska, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Ronald was born August 3, 1939 in Houston, TX., the son of William and Lucile Petrich. He is preceded in death by his parents. Ronald has lived in this area for 10 years, prior he has lived in Markham, TX. (Matagorda County.) Ronald proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he began working as a Pipefitter for Pipefitters Local #211 in Houston, TX. He was a pipefitter for 47 years. Ronald was known as someone who helped others and loved the company of his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Petrich of Onalaska; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Daphne Petrich of Markham, TX.; stepchildren, Amanda Hurta of Onalaska, TX, and Dawn Bordowvsky of Houston, TX, Lee Tipton and wife Heather Tipton of Conroe and Keith Tipton of Alvin, TX. He has 3 grandchildren; Kately N. Hurta and Bryce Hurta of Onalaska, TX and Aaron Young-Tipton of Poplar Bluff, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Dale and Al Hurt of Houston, TX. He has many nieces and nephews and their families. Ronald was known as a man with a lot of spunk and agitation to his special friends on his block. He will be truly missed by all. She was born May 8, 1933 in Poteet, Texas the daughter of Theodore Qualls and Vera Neill Qualls and passed away June 7, 2011 in Lufkin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Qualls and Vera Neill Qualls, husbands, Alonzo Ray Maxwell, Dale G. Rolin, and brother, Ted Qualls.

Lois is survived by son, C. J. Nipper, Jr. of Alvin, Texas, daughter, Rhetta Arasin of Hardin, Texas, sisters, Janice Atwood, Shirley Conner, Patti Nix, brother, Daylon Qualls, granddaughters, Latisha Nipper Cook, Melissa Arasin, Vanessa Arasin and husband Daniel Hadsel, Andrea Nipper, great grandchildren, Jeremy Nipper, Beaux Carriere, Alice Marie Hadsel, and Austin Cole Nipper.
