Gwyn Elaine Norman

Gwyn Elaine Norman, age 65, of Onalaska, Texas, passed away on March 22, 2013 in Lufkin, Texas. She was born on August 17, 1947, in Rotan, Texas to parents, Curtis Terrell, and Wilba Barker Moore.

Gwyn is preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister, P. Betty Massengil. She is survived by her husband, Bill Norman, of Onalska; daughter and son-in-law, Trisha and Tony Martinez; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Lisa Carney and James and Selma Carney; eight grandchildren, Matthew and Shelby Ross, Kevin Carney, Kyle Carney, Katelynn Carney, Aiden Carney, Angelita Carney and Theodore Ross; one great-grandchild, Madalyne Ross; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Dorothy Terrell. Numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas. Rev. Larry Davis will be officiating the service.

Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Ray Smith
Billy Ray Smith born on March 16, 1956 in Houston, Texas to Mickey and Phyllis Mae Lassen Smith passed away on March 21, 2013 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 57.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Thami Smith; grandmother Marietta Smith; sisters, Kathleen Boren, Nancy Gumm and Susan Williams; brother, Randy Michael Smith; numerous other nieces, nephews; other relatives and host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Billy proudly served in The United States Marines from 1975 to 1978.

A Celebration of Billy’s life will be on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bluff Creek cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor Joe McDonald.

Leola Ramah Miller

Funeral Services for Leola Ramah Miller, 93, of Hemphill, Texas will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Ralph Johnston officiating. Interment icon will follow in the Union Springs cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held before the service on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Miller was born September 4, 1919 in Buffalo, Texas and passed away March 20, 2013 in Hemphill, Texas. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed her life with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a Baptist by faith. She is preceded in death by her husband: Charles Benton Miller Jr.; parents: Charlie Robertson and Ramah Leola (Dodd) Robertson; brother: Cecil Robertson.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her sons: Lynn Miller of Hemphill, Texas, Donald Miller of Homeland, California, David Miller of Orange, Texas; brother-in-law: Gene Miller of Kountze, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Dale Miller, Gregory Miller, Jay Bernheim, John McClean, Jacob McClean, Klint Miller.

Susie Margaret Sample

Susie Margaret Sample born on August 30, 1919 in Spurger, Texas to John Arthur and Mary Alice Winkle passed away on March 19, 2013 at the age of 93. Susie is survived by sons, Robert “Bob” Sample and wife Frances and Earl Sample; daughters, Sue Pate and husband Morris, Wanda Parnell; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Norvell, Madeline Minter and Samantha “Dimp” Levins; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Rev. John Sample; son, Leon Sample; four brothers and two sisters. Susie was a faithful Assembly of God pastor’s wife. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed cooking and working in her yard tending to her flowers. Visitation will be from 6-9P.M.at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas on March 21, 2013. A Celebration of Susie’s Life will be at 10:30 A.M. at Pace Funeral Home on March 22, 2013. Officiating will be Pastor Don Goodman and Pastor Glen Mead. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 P.M. at Turner Branch cemetery in Spurger, Texas.

Cecil Earl Loper, Jr.

Jr. Loper, age 53, passed away on March 19, 2013 in Livingston, Texas. He was born on November 23, 1959, in Houston, Texas, to parents Cecil Earl Loper, Sr. and Marie Smith Fuller.

Jr. Loper is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Loper, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Donna Loper, of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Jolene Smith, of Esterwood, Louisiana; son, Steven Loper, of Batson, Texas; son, Ryan Howard, of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Amber Granger, of Batson, Texas; son, Ronnie Lee Loper, of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Haily, Aleyse, Amory, Brennan, Holden, Aubrey, Mattison, Ada, Brantley; mother, Marie Fuller, of Livingston, Texas; step-mother, Nelda Loper, of Livingston, Texas; sister, Marilyn Sanders, Sandra Smith, Martha O’Bannon, Theresa Richardson, Tracy Hutto, Patricia Rowe, Christy Ferro; brother, Ronnie Loper; and very special pet, Chloe.

Jr. will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Steve King, Steven O’Bannon, Allen Carlile, Keith Howard, Howard Smith, Kevin Smith, Josh Burrows, and Garon Fleetwood. Bob Rowe will be an honorary pallbearer.

Funeral services for Jr. Loper will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013, at 2:00 PM, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Bro. Howard Daniel will be officiating the service. Interment icon will follow the services at Forest Hill cemetery, in Livingston, Texas.

A visitation will be held, Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 5:00 PM, also at Cochran Funeral Home.

Nancy Lee Cranford born on March 13, 1941 to Lionel Joseph and Roma Julia Moran LaVergne in Detroit Michigan passed away on March 17, 2013 at the age of 72. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years Billy Jack Cranford; children Cathy Campbell, Richard Beebe and Vicki Harrigian. Celebration of Nancy’s life will be at 10:00 A.M. on March 19, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Livingston, Texas with Reverend Clifton Labbe, S.V.D.

Albert “Big Sonny” Peters, age 59, of Livingston, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2013, in Conroe, Texas. He was born on September 13, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Albert John Peters, Jr. and Renee’ Bell.

Albert is preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Peters, of Livingston, Texas; son, Albert “Little Sonny” Peters IV, of Livingston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Natisha and Richard Dickerson, of Alvin, Texas; grandson and granddaughter, Bryce Dickerson and Alysa Dickerson, both of Alvin, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Ronnie Whitley, of Pasadena, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Pat Polston, of Livingston, Texas; father and wife, Albert John Peters, Jr., and Joyce, of Farmersville, Louisiana; father-in-law, Charles Dillard, of Livingston, Texas; brother, Noel Jennings, of Dickinson, Texas; niece, Janie Polston, of Livingston, Texas; nephew and wife, Timothy Polston and Jessica, of Livingston, Texas; brother-in-law, Curtis Wood, of Livingston, Texas; sister-in-law and husband, Dorothy and Michael Velasco, of Goodrich, Texas; brother-in-law and wife, Nelson Sucarichi and Janice, of Alvin, Texas; brother-in-law and wife, George Sucarichi and Marsha, of Mt. Belvieu, Texas; brother-in-law, Richard Shane Dillard, of San Antonio, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services for Albert “Big Sonny” Peters will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 3:00 PM, at Cochran Funeral Home, in Livingston, Texas.

A visitation will be held the evening before, on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 5:00 PM, also at Cochran Funeral Home.

Charles Hoyt Lee

Charles Hoyt Lee, age 63 of Livingston, Texas, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, March 18, 2013. He was born on August 3, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to parents Calvin Cleatus Lee and Ellen Ellise Garner Lee. Charles served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Conflict.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin C. and Ellen Garner Lee; brother, Billy A. Lee; and sister, Betty Jean Kovar. Charles is survived by his wife, Leslie Lee; three daughters and two sons, Stacy, Crystal, Brandon, Christopher and Brittani; five grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Pat Tucker; and “Rider” Brothers, Duck and Carla Daigle, Bill and Denise Moreton, Bob and Cheryl Howard, Paul and Donna Smith and Laurance and Becky Howard.

Graveside and Interment icon service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Camp Ruby cemetery in Polk County, Texas. Rev. Harold Isaacs will conduct the service. Military Honors will be provided by US Marine Honor Guard.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

Franklin Pierce McQueen

Franklin Pierce McQueen was born on March 14, 1929, at Oakland, Illinois, to Samuel Clinton and Ida Ellen McQueen, the youngest of eight Children. He is survived by wife, Nora Elizabeth Hon McQueen of sixty years; son, Frankie Lee McQueen and wife, Tammy; daughter, Janet McQueen Wiggins and husband, Ronnie; grandchildren, Julie Wiggins Lowe Boehm and husband, Kevin, Jared Wiggins, Jody McQueen and wife, Casey, Jeff McQueen and wife Randi; great grandchildren, Grant and Ava Boehm, Kenley and Kaselee McQueen; sister, Maxine Roedder and husband, Ken of Tusacola, Illinois; brother-in-law, David Hon and wife Flaudie V; sister-in-law, Barbara Stuckey and husband Joe; sister-in-law, Rita Hon; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He met his beloved wife, Nora Hon in 1952. Frank worked for Crown Oil Co. in Pasadena, Texas, before returning to Livingston. He was the owner of McQueen Motors and had the Dodge Dealership for several years. Frank was currently an honorary member, past active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Livingston, also is a Paul Harris Fellow. He had the honor of inducting his daughter, Janet in 1992, to the Rotary Club of Livingston. Frank was active in many areas of First Baptist Church from 1958 until 2008, when his health began to fail. He served on the Polk County Appraisal Board, when Lake Livingston was being developed and was involved in many community activities.

Frank enjoyed hunting, RV’ing, playing 84, repairing and carpentry.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Rev. Orval Barger and Rev. Rusty Schuler will conduct the services. Interment icon will follow the chapel service at Center Grove cemetery in Livingston. Pallbearers are grandchildren and great grandchildren, Julie, Kevin, Grant and Ava Boehm; Jared Wiggins and Heather Hunter; Jody, Casey, Kenley and Kaselee McQueen; Jeff and Randi McQueen; special friends, Don and Frances Golden, Perry and Candace Tornquist. Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews: Davie Lee McQueen, Doug and Lynn McQueen, Lee and Julianna Hon, Laura and Terry Webb, Joey and Debbie Stuckey, Kathy Stuckey, Cindy Hon, Karen and Glenn Matthews and Discipleship Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2013, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

Lonnie Stewart Weatherly, Sr.
June 30, 1926-March 16, 2013

Lonnie Stewart Weatherly, Sr., age 86, formerly of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 16, 2013 in Livingston, Texas. He was born on June 30, 1926, in New Waverly, Texas to parents, Thomas Clark Weatherly, Sr., and Eula Estell Stewart Weatherly. Mr. Weatherly was the former owner of the Pasadena Nissan-Subaru dealership.

Lonnie is preceded in death by both of his parents; brother, T.C Weatherly. Jr.; and sister, Geneva Weatherly. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Weatherly; son, Glenn Weatherly, of the Highlands; son, Stewart Weatherly, Jr., and wife Teresa, of Pasadena; daughter, Faye Weatherly, of Phoenix; grandchildren, Georgette Weatherly, Carmen Weatherly, Michael Weatherly and wife Allison, Ryan Weatherly and wife Sandra; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Weatherly, Gabriel Weatherly, Jack Weatherly, and Troy Ray-Glenn Hester. Mr. Weatherly will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Michael Weatherly, Ryan Weatherly, T.J. Hayes, Oscar Dubose, Elvin Simpson, and Matt Moffett. J.C Fenter will be an honorary pallbearer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Lindell Mitchell will be officiating the service. Interment icon will take place later that afternoon at 2:30 PM in Grandview Memorial Park cemetery in Pasadena, Texas.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 also at Cochran Funeral Home.

Eleanor Estelle Safford

Funeral services for Eleanor Estelle Safford, 97, of Corrigan, Texas, will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Larry Trest officiating. Interment icon will follow in the Carmona cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Safford was born September 11, 1915 in Polk County, Texas and passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 in a hospital in Livingston, Texas. She graduated from Corrigan High School in 1934 with the honor of salutatorian and retired from W.T. Grant in Houston, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Corrigan, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband: William (Bill) Henry Safford; parents: John Emmitt Kennedy and Anna (Reinsch) Kennedy; other family members include, Anna Kennedy Splettstosser, Willie Kennedy, Jackson Kennedy, Minnie Kennedy Lunsford, Nora Kennedy Lunsford Layne, Emma Kennedy White, Edward Kennedy, Johnnie Kennedy, Feodora Kennedy Scott, Francis Kennedy, and Dollis Kennedy Shepherd.

Mrs. Safford is survived by daughters: Barbara Illene Safford Hudson and husband Bill Hudson of Corrigan, Texas, Anna Safford Jones and husband Dr. Alvin Jones of Huntsville, Texas, Norma Louise Safford Watts and husband Terry Watts of Corrigan, Texas; grandchildren: Anna Hudson, Michael (Mike) Hudson, Dr. Alison R. Jones and Dr. Laurie Bradley, Adrienne Jones Leyva and husband Manny Leyva, Charles (Chuck) Safford Jones and wife Stephanie Jones, Andrew Joseph Sonsel and wife Michelle Morgan Sonsel; great grandchildren: Elerie Leyva, Beck Leyva, Monty Alan Sonsel, Drew Harrison Sonsel, Dylan James Rice; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Raul Gallegos Bustos

Raul Gallegos Bustos born on October 12, 1941 in Galveston, Texas to Sirildo and Amelia Gallegos Bustos passed away on March 13, 2013 at the age of 71. Raul is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Anna Cardenas Bustos; daughters, Roseann B. Irwin, Monica E. Ware and husband Keith; sons, Rudy Bustos Jr. and wife Joan and David Breitwieser; grandsons, Alex Bustos, Shawn Ware, Marcus Bustos and Caleb Ware; granddaughters, Kristin L. Richards and Drew Richards; great granddaughter, Zoey; brother, Israel Bustos and wife Nena; sisters, Dora Henry and husband Hank and Esther Sanches; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Raul is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Raul retired from CEMEX Company out of Galveston, Texas after 16 years of service as a dispatcher and loader. He and his wife moved into the area in 2006 and spent his time working within his community of Holiday Villages and fishing with his friends. Raul was a member of First Baptist Church in Onalaska, Texas. The family would like to send a special thank you to Erica Wheeler, (nurse aide) with Rose of Texas; Ann Neccessary (RN); Dr. Antoine Finianos (Tony).

A Celebration of Raul’s Life will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Onalaska, Texas with Reverend Don Wilkey officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church in Onalaska, Texas in memory of Raul Bustos.
