Lewis Payne
Lewis Payne, 71, of Baytown, TX was born "just ahead of the snow" December 21, 1935 in Grapeland, TX, and passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007 in a Houston hospice.
He was a 1954 graduate of Cedar Bayou High School and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from GEON Chemical Plant in 1999 following 39 years of dedicated service. He was an avid reader and enjoyed attending various author book signings. He was a skilled handyman and woodworker who enjoyed completing many and varied projects for his wife, daughters, grandchildren and friends. He was lovingly referred to as "Mr. Fix-It" by all who knew him. He also loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Assisted by his wife, he liked to work in his yard, as evidenced by the number of times that the Lakewood subdivision "Yard of the Month" sign was placed in their yard. He was known for his precision and mastery of lawn mowing. Out of all of things that he enjoyed, it was his family that brought him the most joy. The best gift he gave to his wife, daughters, grandchildren and extended family was uninterrupted time, love and devotion. Lewis was a very special man and was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Alma Payne and sister and brother-in-law, Noma and Johnie Durnell and is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Payne of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Terresa and Greg Katt of College Station, Lisa and Steve Watkins of Baytown, and Tracey and Bobby Baillio of Tomball; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Junior and Doris Ann Payne of Friendswood; and grandchildren, Melissa, Brandon, and Ryan Watkins, Lindsey Katt, and Zachary and Hayden Baillio.
Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Katt, Steve Watkins, Bobby Baillio, Curt Flippo, Marshall Nay, and Bennie Simkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Garnett Jones, Roy Cone and Jimmy McKey.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Melvin Marx officiating. A graveside service for his family will follow at the Field Store cemetery in Waller, TX at 3:00 p.m.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Cypress Station Hampton Hospice and the nurses at the St. Luke's ICU 5, 7 South for the love, kindness and tender care provided to our dear dad and husband. Also special thanks to the staff at the Barbers Hill Kindergarten Center, BHISD employees along with Forest Ridge Elementary and CSISD employees in College Station, TX. In addition, we express our appreciation to our family and friends for the support provided during this very difficult time.
Alex Edward Kominczak
Alex Edward Kominczak was born on July 17, 1930 in Chappell Hill, Texas, the son of Tony and Willie Mae Kominczak. Alex was the fifth of six children.
Alex was united in marriage to Aline Pechacek on November 2, 1952. Their union was blessed with three children, Deborah, Randy and Russell. For the past 40 years they made Houston, Texas their home before retiring to Pattison, Texas. Alex was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Alex passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at his home at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Aline Kominczak of Pattison; Daughter: Deborah Hauptman and her husband Ricky of Bellville; son: Randy Kominczak and his wife Karen of Houston; Daughter-in-law: Kim Komiczak Todd of Houston; 10 grandchildren: Patrick, Debbie, Eric, Cindy Hauptman; Andrea and Seth Boots; Kevin, Brian and Christopher Kominczak; 4 great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Rebecca Hauptman; Blake and Reagan Kominczak; sisters: Helen Bush and Albina Tarnowski; Brothers: Zigmond and Bill Kominczak; Caring and Loving Neighbors John and Terry Gatlin and Alonzo Burr; and many other dear friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Willie Mae Kominczak; brother Tony Kominczak; son Russell Kominczak and great-granddaughter Taylor Marie Kominczak.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment

John Harold (Hal) Wilde
John Harold (Hal) Wilde, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home January 10, 2007. He was born October 4, 1921 to Thomas John and Mary Ann MacDonald Wilde in Melville Saskatchewan, Canada.
Hal enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (1941-1944) and was a bomber pilot in the European Theater. His love for flying continued as a hobby. He graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Manitoba and an Aeronautical Engineering degree from the University of Michigan. He was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and a 47 year employee of Union Pump Co. Hal was a long time member of the San Antonio German Shorthaired Pointer Club and the Gulf Coast GSP Club where in 1980 he originated the "Dog Snake Avoidance Program". He was an avid bird dog trainer and enjoyed field trialing.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald J. Wilde. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary, of Brookshire, daughters, Julie Fred and her husband Randy of St. Mary's, Kansas, Cindy Reeves and her husband Randy of Tomball, Laura Turk and her husband Tom of Bulverde, 18 loved grandchildren, sister, Kathleen MacPherson, brothers, Hugh Wilde and his wife Marilyn and Ralph Wilde and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Hal was unique, devoted to his faith and family, and had a strong sense of honesty and pride in a job well done. He was a mentor to those with whom he worked and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Visitation was Monday January 15 from 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire. Requiem Mass was said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 16 at Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Dickinson, TX. Internment will be in St. Mary's, Kansas. Pallbearers were his brothers, cousin, sons-in-law and grandsons. Grace Blakeney
Grace Blakeney, a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in Memorial Katy Hermann Hospital at the age of 75.
She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years Delbert Blakeney of Sargent; Daughters: Doyleen Fairchild and her husband Philip of San Felipe, Doris Kimball and her husband Kim of Sealy; Sons: Doyle Blakeney and his wife Carolyn of Sealy, Daniel Blakeney of Brookshire; Brother: Glen Reue and wife Cindy of Joshua, Texas; Sister: Helen Williams and her husband Billy Don of Katy; Grandchildren: Phyllis Fairchild, David Blakeney, and Michael Kimball of Sealy, Darrell Blakeney of Lufkin; Dustin and Daniel Blakeney of Okinawa, Japan; and many other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Philip Fairchild, III. Grace was known to most as the school secretary at Royal Middle School. Grace enjoyed puzzles, traveling and spending precious time with her family. She was also a Cub Scout leader and worked in the 4-H organization.
Funeral service was held on Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Schmidt Funeral Chapel in Brookshire with Reverend Shelli Williams, officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society, 6301 Richmond Avenue, Houston, Texas 77057-5905.

Sherry Katherine Pope Hill Pendleton
Sherry Katherine Pope Hill Pendleton was born April 16, 1947 in Baytown, Texas. She was the daughter of Betty Joyce Beene and James C. Pope.
She was raised by Betty and Monk Taylor in Pattison, Texas where she started school, graduating from Royal High School in 1965. Sherry lived most of her life in the Pattison area, a community she loved. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and gardening. Her leisure time was also spent painting, crafting and working with flowers.
Sherry was a volunteer with the Brookshire-Pattison EMS in 1978 and 1979 and then became a paramedic, later working in Hempstead, Brenham and Navasota. Her caring and compassionate personality led her into the nursing field, where she became an LVN. She was also a Charge Nurse at the Brookshire Nursing Center until 1997. Sherry had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the Pattison Untied Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Troy Joseph Hill of Pattison and Angela Beth Hill Dierschke of Brookshire; grandson: Casey Q. Hill of Kerrville; mother: Betty Taylor and her husband W.C. (Monk) Taylor of Pattison; Brothers: Jackie Taylor and wife, Gwendy of Pattison and Roy Taylor and wife Susan also of Pattison; nephews: Joshua and Austin Taylor, as well as many other friends and relatives. Sherry was preceded in death by her father.
Sherry went to meet the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pattison United Methodist Church with Reverend David Davidson officiating. Interment
followed at the Pattison Methodist cemetery. pallbearer were Jimmy Hayes, Charles Hayes, Clyde Grimet, Jr., Waymond Charles King, Randal Paulas, and Ronnie Taylor.

Dean Reed Hegwer
Dean Reed Hegwer, age 81, died January 25 in a Kerrville nursing home after a long illness. Born on a farm near Rule, Texas, she grew up in Amarillo and lived much of her life in Houston, Brookshire and Fredericksburg. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School and University of Texas where she was active in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
She is survived by her husband Arnold Hegwer of Kerrville, sons Forrest and Greg Armstrong and daughter Linda Wimberly of Houston, grandchildren Holly Malone, Dusty and Heidi Armstrong, Lisa Rude, Leslie Harper, Laura Wimberly and numerous great grandchildren.
Services were held 10:30 a.m., January 28 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, followed by grave side services at 10:30 a.m. January 29 at Houston Memorial Oaks cemetery, Pastor Brassow officiating.

Earl Evans Tosh
Earl Evans Tosh was born March 22, 1928 in Batesville, Arkansas. He was the youngest son of Ross Tosh and Effie Sisk Tosh. Earl was of the Baptist faith. He came to Houston in 1944, living in East Houston until December 2002. Since that time he had lived in in the Brookshire Nursing Center. He passed away in a Houston hospital January 24, 2004 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and two days.
Earl is survived by three sisters: Veda Wall of Carthage, Evelyn Rogers of Humble and Elsie Maler of Brookshire. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ransom L. Tosh, Ross J. Tosh and Elbert Tosh.
A memorial service will be held at the Brookshire Nursing Center at a later date.

Mildred Chaney Byers
Mildred Chaney Byers was born September 15, 1919 in Waller County, Texas to parents Ted and Ethel Mikeska Chaney.
She was raised in the Monaville area where she attended school. Mildred lived in Houston and worked in beauty salons as a manicurist. She moved to Brookshire in her later years and has made her home there since that time. She enjoyed animals and especially loved taking care of her many canine friends.
Mildred passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in a Brookshire Nursing Home at the age of 84. She is survived by cousins: Lonnie Mikeska and his wife Edna of Waller; Dorsie Brown of Oklahoma; Evelyn Goesel of Houston; Janice Machac of Monaville; and Ruth Milam of Hempstead; and special friend Dinah Kobek of Spring; as well as many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service was held Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Pattison Methodist cemetery with Reverend Jim Thomson officiating.

Mrs. Van Dries is survived by daughters Katherine Ann Van Dries and Kelly Sou Van Dries Hill and two sons Michael Louis Van Dries and Gerald Thomas Van Dries; grandchildren Michael Joseph Henry, Emilie Brooke Bunch, James Wade Henry, Meghan Leigh Van Dries, Michael Logan Van Dries and Austin Louis Van Dries; brother James Buvens and stepbrother Warren Tupper.

Penn Clinton Aldrich, Jr.
Penn Clinton Aldrich, Jr. was born on September 11, 1932 to Penn Clinton Sr. and Lois Lott Aldrich at Devers, Texas. He was reared in Katy, Texas and graduated from Katy High School in 1951. Penn was in FFA and band at Katy High School and met Dottie in the Sam Houston Band. He graduated from Sam Houston University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts. On January 21, 1956 he married
Dorothy Wilkie of Palestine,Texas. P.C. served in the U.S. Army Artillery as a sergeant in Fire Directions Control from 1955-1957. He was Chief Engineer in Forged Tool and Design at Cameron Iron Works, Houston, for 38 years. He was active in church, civic club and youth group chaperoning.
He and Dottie lived in Spring Branch and Jersey Village in the Houston area where they were active members of Fair Haven Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, square dance, music, golf and bridge. After retiring to Huntsville in 1996 he escorted Dottie on many Audubon birding ventures and dulcimer music events. Penn was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Upper Room Class. During his years in Huntsville his most prevalent activity was the upkeep of their weekend log cabin (Pendadot).
Penn was a devoted son to his parents and Dottie’s mother. He adored his two grandchildren. Penn is survived by Dottie, son David and wife Melisssa, grandson, Grayson, granddaughter, Emily, Mother Lois, brother, Billy and wife Rhonda and two nieces and two newphews, several cousins.
Services were held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, December 12, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment
followed at the Addickes Addition of Oakwood cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial donations should consider the Jerry Bruce Scholarship Fund at the First United Methodist Church.
