Carol E. Schlosser
Carol E. Schlosser, was born November 4, 1933, in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Alvina Carnaghi. She grew up in Belleville and was a graduate and member of the National Honor Society at Belleville Township High School.
In 1969, Carol moved to Houston, Texas and later moved to Victoria, Texas where she lived until 1991. She returned to Belleville in 1991, to care for her elderly parents. In 2008, Carol became a resident of the Four Fountains Convalescent Center in Belleville, and in December she moved to The Oaks of Brookshire in Brookshire, Texas.
Carol greatly enjoyed cooking, but her true passion in life was her family. The times she spent with her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the most cherished moments of her life.
Carol passed away Saturday, February 14, at the age of 75 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her sons Steve Schlosser and his wife, Myra, of Houston, Texas and Jeff Schlosser and his wife, Cathy, of Cypress, Texas; mother Alvina Carnaghi of Houston; grandchildren Stephanie Zientek, Eric Schlosser, Elizabeth Bennett, Jessica Schlosser, Allison Schlosser, Tim Schlosser, and Taylor Schlosser; great grandchildren Noah Zientek, Mikayla Zientek, and Peyton Bennett; and aunts Martha Lauf and Mildred Kassing. She is also survived by many other family members and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her former husband, William “Bill” Schlosser and her father, Harry Carnaghi.
Graveside service was at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15 at Carrington cemetery, Sunnyside, Texas with Pastor Greg Deskins, Officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorials to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22538, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1538.
Royce Hopkins
Royce Hopkins, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on February 6, 2009.
He was born in Headrick, Oklahoma on May 20, 1924 to Roy and Lillie Hopkins.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corp at the age of 18 in 1943 and served until his honorable discharge in 1947 as a 1st Lieutenant.
During this time he served as a B-17 bomber pilot in the 8th Air force, 306th Bomb Group, 367th Bomb Squadron (the “Clay Pigeon Air
He flew 26 combat missions over Germany and the 306th was known as the “First over Germany.” Royce earned 4 air medals, 5 battle stars, a commendation medal for a special assignment, a purple heart and two Presidential commendations. Royce graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas with a BBA, Accounting with Honors in 1950. He was the President of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi and became a life member. He joined the Lynn Elliott Company and EIM companies in Houston, Texas in 1951 as an accountant and became General Manager of EIM. While there, he developed a unique flow valve controller which he was able to have patented. He left after 17 years and joined Texas Steel and Wire as Vice President and General Manager in 1968.
While at Texas Steel and Wire he planned and oversaw the building of a new plant and served as part of a five man executive committee which covered Houston, Dallas, New Orleans and Miami operations. In 1977 Texas Steel & Wire was sold to Davis-Walker Corporation and he became a Group Vice-President. While he was there he participated in the expansion into Memphis, Tennessee and Gulfport, Mississippi and joined the executive committee. He retired in 1981. He moved to Brookshire, Texas in 1974. Since his retirement he became active in the Republican Party where he became a Precinct Chairman and a member of the Waller County executive committee. He was active in the formation of the Waller County Economic Development Committee and he served on its Board. He was a member and director of the I-10 West Chamber of Commerce and a member of the I-10 West Economic Development Committee. Royce also supported the development of the Houston Executive Airport and assisted with helping the airport gain FAA approval.
He was also a Director of the Waller County Toll Road Authority.
Royce always supported the 306th Bomb Group Association where he served as Treasurer for a number of years and assisted with the formation of the Thurleigh Airfield 306th Bomb Group Museum. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist of Brookshire serving in various capacities, most recently as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lillie Hopkins and his brother Lemac Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife Mollie of Brookshire, daughters Sharon Harvey and her husband Peter of Topsham, Maine, Kim Montag and her husband Jeff of McAllister, Montana, Kit Hopkins of Houston and his son Mike Hopkins and his wife Andrea and grandson Chris of Cedar Park, and granddaughters Jennifer Shepherd of Longmont, Colorado, Joy McLain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Lois Ann King of Plano, his sisters Joye McLain of Oklahoma City, Lois Ann King of Plano and many nieces and nephews and friends.
He had a strong sense of honesty and doing what was right and was always willing to help out his friends and family.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation was from 4 - 6 P.M. on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Brookshire, Texas. Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 707 Cooper at 7th Street in Brookshire, Texas.
Graveside services followed on Monday at Memorial Oaks cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas. Friends and family were invited to return to the First United Methodist Church in Brookshire for a light lunch following the graveside service.

Rupert Gilbert Carroll
Rupert Gilbert Carroll of Brookshire, Texas, 77, passed away May 15, 2009 due to a tragic accident. Gil, a Korean veteran, was born in Dallas, Texas; received his Bachelor degree from Washburn University-Topeka, KS, and a Masters degree from UCLA. Gil was a well-traveled person who enjoyed sharing his adventures with family and friends.
Gil is survived by his brother, Mike McRoberts and wife Carole of Katy; cousin, Carolyn Eckert and husband Chris of Houston; nephews, Ashby McRoberts and Paul Eckert; niece, Emily Eckert; and a host of friends.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, with Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. Gil was laid to rest next to his mother, Gladys Faye Schuetz, at the Katy Magnolia cemetery.

Virginia Gamble
Virginia Gamble, age 68 of Hempstead, Texas, passed away on May 24. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Lou Johnson; and brother, Malcolm Johnson; and is survived by her son, Curtis Gamble; daughters, Debbie Jean Ly and husband Fenton, and Anita Francis Gamble; sister, Molly Johnson; grandchildren, Christine Marie Gamble, April June Carpio, Gabriel James Carpio, Stephanie Jean Ly, and Curtis Edwin Gamble Jr.; and niece, Monica Moore.

Mr. Charles Julius McDonald
Mr. Charles Julius McDonald passed away on April 25, 2009 at the age of 68 years old.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura and Jason Huddleston (Chattanooga, TN), Kara McDonald (Knoxville, TN), Deborah McDonald (San Antonio, TX), grandsons; Caien Huddleston and Cadyn Huddleson and sister; Karen and Charlie Brown (Aurora, CO)
Charles is preceeded in death by brother Stanley McDonald.

Mr. Zenophin “Mucka” Bankett
Mr. Zenophin “Mucka” Bankett, was born on May 28, 1932 and passed away on April 4, 2009. His life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Mt. Zion CME Church, located at 4998 Mt. Zion Road in Sunnyside, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to service. Interment
will be at Mount Zion CME cemetery.

MARY LOU (DA) MARTIN WILSON
MARY LOU (DA) MARTIN WILSON, was born June 9, 1926, in Tallahassee, Florida, the daughter of John E. and Mary Ella Childs Martin.
She grew up and attended schools in Tallahassee and Live Oak in North Florida, graduating from Suwanee High School in 1945.
Mary Lou was fondly known by her Florida family as ‘Pickie’.
On August 21, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dennis E. Wilson in Florida.
Dennis preceded Mary Lou in death in February 2004.
A homemaker, Mary Lou had most recently made her home in Pattison where she was a member of the Pattison United Methodist Church. A devoted mother and grandmother, her passion in life was caring for her disabled granddaughter, Amanda.
Mary Lou passed away suddenly Christmas Eve, December 24, 2008, in Pattison at the age of 82.
She is survived by her children Mark Wilson and his wife, Bette-Jane, Dennis Matthew Wilson and his wife, Dawn, and Melanie Easters and her husband, Ben; grandchildren Sara Wilson, Kate Wilson, Rebecca Wilson and Amanda Wilson; sister Jonnie Mae Martin Thompson; niece Joyce Thompson; brother-in-law Max Wilson and sister-in-law Frances Wilson Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Basil Martin and Jack Martin, sister, Eunice Martin Kent.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 2, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Pattison United Methodist Church with Reverend Herb Stallknecht officiating. PAUL LEWIS
PAUL LEWIS passed away on January 2, 2009 after a long illness. He was at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital when he passed away.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grant Memorial Church of God in Christ, located at 3726 4th Street in Brookshire, Texas. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 10 at 11 a.m. at Baily Chapel Church of God in Christ, located at 3004 Sledge Street in Brookshire, Texas.

KAREN ANN BAKER
CARROLL was born January 17, 1949, in Houston, Texas to parents Thomas J. Baker, Jr. and Lucile Boseling Baker.
Karen left this life to be with her Savior January 8, 2009, in an El Campo hospital.
Karen was baptized March 27, 1949, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy, and was confirmed in Christ Lutheran Church in Pattison. She attended the Pattison schools and SHSTU in San Marcos. On September 23, 1973, she married
James Carroll.
Karen had a great love for the elderly, and was employed at the nursing homes in Brookshire and later El Campo as the Director of Activities.
She also worked for the “Meals On Wheels” program in El Campo until her health deteriorated forcing her to retire.
She was always able to cheer up her patients with her winning smile.
Surviving are her DAUGHTER: Amie Carroll Blankenship and her husband, William, of Round Rock; her COMPANION AND FRIEND: Bobby Moore of El Campo; TWO GRANDCHILDREN: Dylan and Savannah Blankenship of Round Rock; STEPMOTHER: Gloria Yanchak and her husband, J.D. of Pattison; BROTHERS: Tommy Baker and his wife, Caren, of Belton, Michael Baker, Sr. and his wife, Malinda, and Danny Baker, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Pattison; also ONE UNCLE: Donald Baker of Pattison; and numerous other relatives and dear friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

ROGELIO R. GONZALES
ROGELIO R. GONZALES was born October 7, 1949, in Port Lavaca, Texas to parents Santiago S. and Rafaela Ruiz Gonzales.
He grew up and attended school in Port Lavaca before graduating from Houston Baptist University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Elementary education and bilingual education.
Rogelio served his country in the United States Army from 1967 - 1970, during the Vietnam War.
He married
Karen Goodrum on May 24, 1980 in Houston, Texas.
Rogelio and Karen have made their home in Brookshire since 1984 where Rogelio was employed as a teacher at Royal Middle School. He had a tremendous love of learning and passing that knowledge on to his students.
He had even set up a science lab at his house where he measured rainfall, tracked hurricanes and studied horticulture.
After his retirement, Rogelio enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009, in a Katy hospital.
He was 59 years old.
Rogelio is survived by his WIFE OF 28 YEARS: Karen Gonzales of Brookshire, his TWO SONS: Gabriel Gonzales and his wife Francesca, of Palmer, Alaska, and Nick Gonzales of Brookshire; DAUGHTER: Iliana Gonzales, also of Brookshire; and GRANDCHILDREN: Liberty and Lukas Gonzales of Palmer, Alaska. He is also survived by FIVE BROTHERS: Alex Gonzales, Robert “Bave” Gonzales, Alfred Gonzales, Richard Gonzales and Jimmy Gonzales; TWO SISTERS: Sarah Lacey and Mary DeLeon; and many other dear friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Hortencia Zapata.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, at Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire, Texas.
Funeral Service was at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14 at First Baptist Church in Brookshire, Texas with Reverend Calvin Webb, Officiating.
Interment was at Carrington cemetery in Sunnyside, Texas.
Pallbearers were Gabriel Gonzales, Nick Gonzales, Richard Wesley, Aaron Stanton, Jeff Gruetzmacher and Grant Jungeblut.
