Frankie Marie Burns
Funeral services were held for Frankie Marie Burns, 78, of Clifton, on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at 10 a.m., at Clifton Fundamental Baptist Church with Bro. George Watson officiating. Frankie Marie Kerlee was born on Sept. 22, 1923, in Cleburne, to Albert Teel and Mettie Mae Kerlee. She passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton. She married
Marshall Burns on June 8, 1939, in Meridian. The couple had two children. She was a devoted housewife and mother and an active and charter member of Clifton Fundamental Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and knowing and loving people from all walks of life. There wasn’t a better woman anywhere in the world. She touched the lives of all who knew her and left an imprint of love so deep that it lingers with even casual acquaintances. She lived a life that be summed up in one word - faithfulness. She was faithful to her Lord and Savior through her gentle kindness an good deeds showered generously upon her family, church, and friends. She graciously walked through life with a quiet dignity that belied her modest means. Her heart was so big that it had room for anyone who was in need - whether the stray cat or sick friend in need of word of cheer. She is a precious jewel and leaves a priceless legacy, said a family member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Burns; a son, Albert (Pete) Burns; and a sister, Minnie Mae Casey. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Coleman of Follet; two grandchildren, Shawn Coleman of Capitan, N.M., and Dana Ellis of Mabank; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mark Coleman, Shawn Coleman, Bruce Ellis, Butch Casey, and Larry Wallace. Interment
was in Clifton cemetery under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home.
Steven Louis Berger
Funeral services for Steven Louis Berger, 45, of Clifton, were held Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton, the Rev. Glenn Kramer officiating. Interment
followed in Trinity Lutheran cemetery. Berger died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, in Clifton. Born May 20, 1957, in Clifton, to Erwin and Sophia Berger, he was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City. He was confirmed at and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton Berger graduated from Clifton High School in 1975. He worked in construction and maintenance most of his life, including employment with Boise Cascade/Lowe’s in Clifton, Brown and Root Construction in Glen Rose, and at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. He was on medical disability at the time of his death. He was a dedicated member of the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Erwin Berger; a brother, Bobby Berger; and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors include a son, Shelton Charles Berger; his mother, Sophia Berger; a brother, Johnnie Berger; two sisters, Margie Bolling and Marsha Johnson; a brother-in-law, Harold Johnson; a sister-in-law, Jan Berger; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Pallbearers included Terrence Sinderud, David Snyder, Kraig Mullins, Randy Bolling, Jackie Bolling, and Lance Barner. David Anderson presented Berger’s eulogy during the funeral service. The family requests that memorials in loving memory of Steve Berger be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department, or the charity of one’s choice. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dolphus Dansby
Funeral services were held for Dolphus Dansby, 78, of Colleyville, on Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel in Colleyville. He passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002. Dansby graduated from Mosheim High School and attended Clifton Junior College before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II as a radarman on LST. Dansby retired from American Airlines, Fort Worth, after 31 years of service as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Dansby. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ninell Dansby; a son, Randy Dansby; nephews, Bobby Sanders, Ronnie Sanders, Mike Sanders, Don Windle, and Jerry Wood; and many friends and co-workers from American Airlines. Memorials may be made to Vitas Charitable Fund, 2501 Parkview Drive, Fort Worth 76102. Interment
was in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
Rev. Allen Hawley Brown
Memorial services will be held for the Rev. Allen Hawley Brown, 84, on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church of Clifton, with the Rev. Terri Matthews and the Rev. Pat Dietrich officiating. Memorial services will also be conducted at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church in Wichita Falls with Dr. Isaac Butterworth officiating. Rev. Brown was born Oct. 19, 1917, in Clay Center, Kansas. He died on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, in Clifton. He graduated from the College of Emporia in Emporia, Kan., and the Omaha Theological Seminary in Omaha, Neb. During his ministry, the Rev. Brown was pastor of churches in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas including Needville, Jacksboro, Brady, Lake Buchanan, Bryan, Calvert, and Wichita Falls. He also served as moderator of presbytery, as well as counselor and adviser at youth camps and conferences. An author of several books of poetry, Rev. Brown also published a daily devotional for the Christian Life entitled Lights Along the Pathway. His ministry included the radio program “Minute Meditation” and a telephone ministry called “The Daily Walk.” An amateur radio operator and an avid chess player, he was a former resident of Rolling Meadows Retirement Community in Wichita Falls. Survivors include his daughters Eileen Geeslin and husband, Bill, of Durham, N.H.; Yvonne Sinclair and husband, Bill, of San Antonio; and Doris Messer and husband, Dave, of Midland; a son Douglas Brown and wife, Melissa, of Crowley; sister Elaine Messer of Clifton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. For those desiring, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Sunset Lutheran Home, P.O. Box 71, Clifton, 76634. Arrangements were entrusted to Hampton Vaughan Crestview, of Wichita Falls.
Elsie Stanford Russell
Funeral services were held for Elsie Stanford Russell, 85, of Cranfills Gap, on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at First United Methodist Church in Cranfills Gap, with the Rev. Wayne Lewis officiating. Elsie Irene Stanford was born on Sept. 16, 1916, in Hamilton County. She passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Clifton. On Aug. 8, 1935, she married
Homer James Russell in Cranfills Gap. The couple had four children. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cranfills Gap. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer James Russell, and one son, Ronald Russell. Survivors include three sons, Jimmie, Tommie, and Stephen, and daughter-in-law Kaye Russell; grandchildren, Amy Nelson, William Russell, Lori Coakley, Christopher Russell, and Brent Russell. Pallbearers include William Russell, Christopher Russell, George Nelson, John Coakley, Brent Russell, and Marc Johnson. Interment

Patricia Ann Gustafson Linn
Funeral services for Patricia Ann Linn, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, were held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Houston, on Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, the Rev. Thomas H. Glammeyer officiating. Interment
followed at Woodlawn cemetery. She was born on Dec. 2, 1949, in Clifton, to Burton and Georgia (Anderson) Gustafson. She was baptized and confirmed into St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. She was united in holy wedlock to Kenneth Wayne Linn on March 22, 1975. To this union one son, Matthew Thomas, was born. Linn attended Cranfills Gap schools all 12 years. After graduating she went to Texas Lutheran College at Sequin. She loved children, and upon graduation she started her teaching career at Port Lavaca. She then taught at Alvin, and for many years taught at Memorial Lutheran School in Houston. She was preparing to begin her fourth year at Durkee Elementary in Houston teaching third grade. She and her family became members of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Houston, on Aug. 21, 2001. Linn was preceded in death by her father, Burton Gustafson, and sister Linda Sue Gustafson. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Linn; son, Matthew Linn; mother, Georgia Gustafson; and many relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Shelby Anderson, Bill Larson, Stephen Larson, Jeff Linn, Hugh Watson, and Bill Zychowski.
Arlene Rundell Shipp
Funeral Services will be held for Arlene Rundell Shipp, 81, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at 3 p.m., at Walnut Springs Memorial Methodist Church with internment in Russell cemetery near Walnut Springs with Rev. Linda Wimberly and Rev. Danny Niedecken officiating. Visitation will be at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Shipp was born on March 21, 1921, to parents Theo and Leone Wilie Shipp, and passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at a Clifton hospital. Shipp received her fifty year pin for the Eastern Star and was past Matron. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. She taught school in Walnut Springs, Glen Rose, and Clifton. She was united in marriage to J.W. Shipp in Walnut Springs on Nov. 25, 1942. She served as treasurer of the Methodist Church and was an avid sports fan. Survivors include her daughter Darlene Munden and husband, Phillip, of Morgan; two grandsons, Brent, and wife Gail of China Springs, and Kent Munden and wife, Kim, of Clifton; one sister, Maude Sartor of Granbury and a special friend, Nancy Page, of Iredell; and four great-grandsons, Tyler, Trent, Kade, and Kassidy Munden. Shipp was preceded in death by a daughter Theoresa Jean Shipp on April 24, 1950, and her husband J.W. Shipp on June 2, 2001. Memorials may be made to Walnut Spring Memorial Methodist Church or the American Hospice. Pallbearers will be Brent Munden, David Sartor, Kent Munden, Jack Hart, Jerry Lamb, and Theo Ray Sartor. Velma Maxine (Mackie) McDonald
Funeral services will be held for Velma Maxine (Mackie) McDonald, 70, of Laguna Park, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2002, at 1 p.m., in Prairie Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Sain and Rev. Robert Moran officiating. She was born on Oct. 6, 1923, in Mart, the daughter of the late Reuben and Velma Hollingsworth McDonald. She passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. After graduating from Mart High School in 1941, she moved to Austin and attended Nixon-Clay Business College. In 1948, she was married
to R.B. Rayton. Austin remained her home, until 1993, when she moved to Laguna Park to be near her daughter. Mackie, as she was called, gave unselfishly, loved without conditions, and was truly God’s angel. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Cable of Scott & White Hospital and Debbie Emert of Vista Care for their loving care. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Lennie Eula Golden Coffelt
Funeral services were held for Lennie Eula Golden Coffelt, 86, of Clifton, on Monday, Sept. 2, at First Baptist Church of Walnut Springs, with the Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Lennie Eula Golden was born in Iredell on Dec. 23, 1915, to Lucious Edward Golden and Mary Helen (Blue) Golden. She was the youngest of four children. She passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in Clifton. Her grandparents, Seaborn Golden and Anna (Hendricks) Golden, came to Iredell in the 1890s, he from Talapoosa County, Alabama. Her grandparents, Winfeld Scott Blue, born in Henderson County, in 1856, shortly after Texas became a state, and his wife, Samantha (Gibson) Blue, also came to Iredell in the 1890s. She attended several rural schools in Bosque County, including Midway, Fairview, Valley View, and Willow Springs. On Oct. 28, 1932, she married
Henry Gilbert (Peanuts) Coffelt, in Hamilton. They settled in the Iredell community and later in Walnut Springs, where they reared two sons. She was a member of the Willow Springs Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Walnut Springs for many years. In August 1997, she was preceded in death by Gilbert, her beloved husband of 65 years. Survivors include two sons, Robert Kenneth Coffelt and wife, Sue, and Henry Rex Coffelt and wife, Gwen; two grandchildren, Tammy Burch and husband, James Burch of Meridian, and Brad Coffelt and wife, Mellisa (Missy) of Walnut Springs; five grandchildren, Jessika and Brody Coffelt, and Krista Wyatt, and Emily Burch; along with a host of friends. Pallbearers were Brad Coffelt, James Burch, Leon Golden, Leonard Gilbreath, John Hernandez, and Bennett Morrow. Interment
