Graveside funeral services for Joel Henry Meador, 63, of Stephenville, were held Monday, March 17, 2003, at West End cemetery (Stephenville), the Rev. Emil V. Becker officiating. He died Thursday, March 13, at a residence in Stephenville. He was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Bosque County. He married
Judith Martin on Sept. 19, 1964, in Lingleville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1980, serving two tours in Vietnam, and was a Retired Major in the Army Reserves. Following his career in the Army, he taught school in the Copperas Cove and McCamey Independent School Districts. He graduated from Cranfills Gap High School in 1958. Meador earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tarleton State University in 1964, and a Master of Education Degree from Pepperdine University in 1974. Meador was a member of First Baptist Church of Cranfills Gap, and of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9181 in Stephenville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and John Wayne movies. He is survived by his wife, Judy Meador of Stephenville; daughter Jennifer Latham of Fort Worth; son Jeffrey Meador of Leander; sister Evelyn Holmes of Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. Calvin C. Petty
Graveside funeral services for Calvin C. (Coot) Petty, 76, of Turnersville, were held Thursday, May 29, 2003, in the Turnersville cemetery, with Jerry Jones officiating. Petty died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple after a long illness. He was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Belton, a son of the late Levi H. and Mary Jane Cantwell Petty. He was raised in Bell County. On July 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Francis Audrey Kelley in Burnet. Petty had lived in Turnersville for many years, where he worked on various farms and ranches before his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He was a member of the Baptist church. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Raymond L. Petty, Oscar W. Petty, Clarence R. Petty, Thomas A. Petty, and George C. Petty; and sisters Lou Gene Baker and Velma L. Reither. Petty is survived by his wife, Frances Audrey Petty of Turnersville; son Tommy L. Petty Sr. and wife Margaret Petty of Turnersville; daughters Mary F. and husband Darrel Brown of Gatesville, and Wanda J. and husband Richard Crawford of Turnersville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Myrtle M. Hoggett of Rising Star and Martha E. Renfro of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers were Tommy Petty Jr., Allen Thompson, Richard Petty Jr., Juanita Thompson, Becky Rushton, Belinda Morgan, Russell Petty, and Richard Petty Sr. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.
Edith May Timms
Funeral services for Edith May Timms, 87, of Walnut Springs, were held Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. William Lamb and the Rev. B.E. Moore officiating. Interment
followed in Morgan cemetery. Timms died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in a Fort Worth hospital. She was born April 13, 1916, in Dallas, a daughter of the late Claude Nelson and Sarah Margaret Shepherd Payne. On Nov. 28, 1931, she was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Timms in Cleburne. The couple lived in Morgan and Fort Worth before moving to their farm north of Walnut Springs in 1959. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1991. Timms worked for Williamson Dickey Manufacturing Company in Fort Worth, and retired from Walls Manufacturing Company in Clifton. She was a member of the New Life Tabernacle Church in Walnut Springs. Survivors include two daughters, Claudene and husband Carlton Sanders of Fort Worth, and Nelldian West of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren, Carl Sanders of Fort Worth, Lentius West of Tuscon, Ariz., Cliff Sanders of Fort Worth, Linda Dozier of Glen Rose, Vickie McCune of Fort Worth, Sherry Haffelder of Ruby, Ark., and Clift Sanders of Fort Worth; nine great-grandchildren, Scott Sanders, Shannon Kirstein, Sarah Alsup, Heath Dozier, Rachel Kirstein, Michael Sanders, Danielle West, Seth Dozier, and Ashley West; nieces Cliffy Wooten and Betty Morrison; and a number of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Carl Sanders, Lentius West, Cliff Sanders, Clint Sanders, Michael Sanders, Heath Dozier, and Seth Dozier. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.
Adolph Paul Dossman
Funeral services for Adolph Paul Dossman, 77, of Morgan’s Point Resort, were held Monday, June 2, 2003, at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, the Rev. Rodney Bolejack officiating. Interment
followed in Clifton cemetery. Dossman died Thursday, May 29, 2003, in a Belton nursing home. He was born Jan. 13, 1926, on a small farm near Turnersville, to Rudolph Herman and Annie Josephine (Schultz) Dossman. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was 18, and served in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters. Following the service, he began working as a carpenter. He spent most of his life in construction, working his way up to foreman and finally to superintendent. He worked for Hoffman and Borders Construction in Waco, and supervised projects throughout Texas. He also worked for Brazos Concrete Products in Waco. Dossman married
Charlene Paulk on May 7, 1948, in Waco. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He moved to Morgan’s Point Resort from Clifton in 1998, and also had lived in Moody. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bennie Dossman, and one sister, Hilma Parrish. Dossman is survived by his wife, Charlene Dossman of Morgan’s Point Resort; two sons, Loy Dossman of Allen and Danny C. Dossman of Belton; one daughter, Paula Bauerle of Arlington; three brothers, Walter Dossman of Clifton, Ernest Dossman of Gatesville, and Emil Dossman of Gatesville; one sister, Minnie Kettler of Clifton; and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, was in charge of arrangements.
June Eubanks
Funeral services for June Eubanks, 88, of Clifton, were held Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Richland Hills Church of Christ in North Richland Hills. Interment
followed in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Eubanks passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2003, in Clifton. Eubanks, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, was devout Christian and a member of Richland Hills Church of Christ for more than 25 years. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and a wonderful pianist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Eubanks, who was the first mayor of the City of Southlake. Eubanks is survived by a son, Tony and wife Brenda Eubanks of Clifton; daughters Suzanne and husband Jim Louth of Springfield, Mo., and Diane and husband Norman Bradley of Fort Worth; grandchildren Lee Ann Neill, Ginny Charlton, William Wester, Robyn Coleman, James Wester, Rebecca Colvin, Amy Maulsby, Elisa Brantley, and Bethany Knox; and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials in honor of June Eubanks be made to Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, Unit E. Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Corrine Johnson
Graveside funeral services for Corrine Vickery Johnson were held Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Valley Mills cemetery. Johnson died Sunday, May 18, 2003, following a brief illness. She was born in Mosheim to John Floyd and Belle Frances Howard Vickery. She was the granddaughter of William Weldon and Mary Robertson Vickery, pioneer farmers in Bosque and Coryell Counties. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vickery; her son, Charles Vickery, Jr.; and her daughter, Virginia Blue. She is survived by her granddaughter, Jan Blue of Marana, Ariz.; her grandson, Jay Blue of Phoenix, Ariz.; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Buster Vickery of Clifton. Kreidler Funeral Home, McAllen, was in charge of arrangements. The funeral service was under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home.
Evelyn B. Crawford
Funeral services for Evelyn B. Crawford, 81, of Turnersville, were held Friday, May 23, 2003, at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel, Brother Mike Barron officiating. Internment followed at Turnersville cemetery. Crawford died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton. She was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Elgin, Neb., to Andrew James and Lucinda Marie (Schmitt) Tierney. She married
Tommie Andrew Crawford in Raton, N.M., on July 15, 1952. They lived in Colorado Springs for 16 years before moving to Turnersville in 1968. She worked at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home for several years before retiring. She was a member of and pianist for White Hall Baptist Church. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband, and was the last surviving sibling of her six brothers and one sister. Survivors include sons Lloyd and wife Sandy Crawford of Amarillo, and Donnie Crawford of Amarillo, Garland and wife Ruth Crawford of Denver, James and wife Irene Crawford of Aurora, Colo., Richard and wife Barbara Tierney of Elgin, and Keith and wife Sharon Crawford of Turnersville; daughters Dianna Crawford of Austin, and Dorothy and husband Randy Wagoner of Turnersville, Karen and husband Allen Campbell of Turnersville, and Kathy Crawford of Turnersville; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Robbie Woodley, Bryan Necessary, Nathan Blehm, Wesley Crawford, and Harley Keefer, and family friends Tony Burke and Billy Burke. John Alex Melton
Graveside funeral services for John Alex Melton, 46, of Clifton, were held Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Bethlehem cemetery, the Rev. Garland Melton officiating. Melton died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in a Waco hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1956, in Alamagordo, N.M., the son of James R. and Lena Mae (Tice) Melton. He was a truck driver, and he liked to garden and loved to do carpentry work. He was a member of Smith Bend Baptist Church. Melton was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Wayne Melton. He is survived by his parents, James and Lena Melton of Whitney; a son, Johnny Ray and wife Tonya Melton of Hillsboro; a daughter, Virginia Lee Melton of Cleburne; a brother, James Henry Massey of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Virginia and husband Jerry Gordon of Hico, and Jo and husband Gene Bryant of Fort Worth; two granddaughters, Skyler and Madison Melton of Hillsboro; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Walter Albert Zettler
Funeral services were held for Walter Albert Zettler, 91, on Monday, May 19, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton, with Rev. Glenn Kramer officiating. Zettler was born on August 22, 1911, in Shive, Texas, to Ferdand and Anna (Rosentreter) Zettler. He passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Waco. Zettler grew up with his three sisters and one brother in Shive and attended public school there. He and his family were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shive. On Oct. 17, 1935, Zettler married
Leona Nichter at St. Paul Lutheran, Shive. While they lived in Shive, he engaged in farming. He served as a deacon of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Later, the family moved to a farm near Clifton, and Zettler continued farming. Zettler and his wife had two children, Bernice and Vernon. Vernon died of polio at the age of seven on Sept. 8, 1950. In 1960, the family moved to Clifton where Zettler worked as a painter. Leona worked in Charlie’s Cafe. They were both members of Trinity Lutheran Church. in Clifton. Zettler is remembered as a hard worker. He enjoyed his work as a painter and was well-known in the community for his excellent workmanship. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Lillie Wagner and Emma Bubert; one brother, Carl Zettler; and son, Vernon Zettler. He is survived by one sister, Pauline Peters of Hamilton; a daughter, Bernice Farmer of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Philip Johnson and Len Carter; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers included Clarence Fields, Jr., Delbert Kelm, Erwin Ray Dahl, Jerry Sather, Jamey Finstad, and Jerry McDougal. Internment was held at Clifton cemetery under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home.
