Funeral services for J.D. Williams, 76, of Osage, were held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel in McGregor, the Rev. Andy Walker and the Rev. John Wheatley officiating. Interment
followed at Osage cemetery. Williams died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004. He was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Energy (Comanche County), the son of the late John Francis and Laura Rebecca (Gore) Williams. He was a 1945 graduate of Comanche High School. From 1950 to 1951, he served his county in the U.S. Army and was decorated with the Army of Occupational Korean Service Medal. On Oct. 1, 1972, he married
Dorothy Louise Holder in Waco. Known affectionately as the “Christmas Man, ” he retired from Christmas Design Creations in 1997 after 27 years of service as a salesman. He was preceded in death by his parents; by two wives, Debbie Kilgore and Sarah Lou Shelton; and by eight half-brothers and sisters. Williams is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Louise Williams; three sons, Keith Wayne Williams of Valley Mills, Jay Douglas Williams of Crawford, and Richard Kilgore of Arlington; three daughters, Brenda Jean Hale of Moody, Shirley Kimble of Watauga, and Dee Ann Allen of Mansfield; stepdaughters Vanessa Willingham of Waco, and Diane Denise Goade of Osage; brother Freeman Williams of Midland; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Randall Chamblee, Roman Chamblee, Ryan Hale, Franz Higlnad, Jr., Kent Schmalriede, and Jason Williams. The family has designated the Osage cemetery Association, P.O. Edna Anna Lammert Mgebroff
Funeral services for Edna Anna Lammert Mgebroff, 89, of Smithville, formerly of Clifton and Giddings, were held Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with the Rev. Ralph Lein, the Rev. Ed Schwanke, and the Rev. Herb Lammert officiating. She was born on July 2, 1914, in Bosque County near the Garnersville community to Henry and Martha (Goeke) Lammert. She passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2004. She was baptised in August 1914 and confirmed in May 1928 in the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Womack. She attended school in Garnersville and graduted from Clifton High School in 1932. She married
Rev. Fred Mgebroff, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran, Clifton, and St. James Lutheran Church, Mosheim, on April 27, 1933. They had one daughter, Jo Ann. The couple served the following churches after they left Clifton: Zion Lutheran, Brenhem (1938-1946); Texas A&M; Lutheran Campus Ministry, College Station (1946-1950); Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Giddings, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dime Box (1950-1957), and Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Giddings (1957-1986). Edna served as church secretary many of those years. Following Pastor Mgebroff’s retirement, the couple made their home in Giddings for four years then moved to Clifton in 1990. Following her husband’s death, she returned to Giddings. She subsequently moved to Smithville to be near her daughter due to advancing stages of Alzheimers disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred Mgebroff; her parents, Henry and Martha Lammert; two brothers, Raymond and Herbert Lammert; two sisters, Nelda Lammert Landgraf and Lillie Lammert Aanenson, and two sons-in-law, Ronnie Sell and Wayne Nelson. Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Nelson of Smithville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild; one sister, Clara Albrecht of Clifton; one sister-in-law, Elfrieda Cook of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Hoyt Wagner, Chris Jackson, Craig Bryan, John Hart, Cody Hart, Scott Mgebroff, and Gene Albrecht. Internment followed at Giddings City Cemetary, under the direction of Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home of Giddings.
Willard David Mayo
A graveside celebration of life for Willard David Mayo, 63, of Waxahachie, was held Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery in Dallas, the Rev. Joe Langley officiating. Mayo died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. He was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Corsicana, to Willard Brink and Billie Doris (Langston) Mayo. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1958, then attended Navarro Junior College, later transferring to East Texas State University in Commerce. Mayo entered the U.S. Air Force in 1962, serving in Germany, and in Vietnam in DaNang during the Tiet Offensive. He received his honorable discharge in 1970. He married
Mary Wilson on Aug. 8, 1970, in Clifton. He was employed as a salesman/merchandise manager for Dorsey Company/McKesson Office Supply for 16 years. He enjoyed traveling and RV camping. He was a longtime member of Park Meadows Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mayo is survived by his wife, Mary Mayo of Waxahachie; sister Sue Harris of Seattle, Wash.; brother-in-law Charles and wife Elsie Wilson of Aledo; sisters-in-law Gene and husband Carrol Hogue of Mesquite, Linda and husband Roy Griffin of Longview, and Fanette and husband Jimmy Lindsey of Marietta; and by close special friends Larry and Glynda Felty, Jim and Annette Cooper, and Bob and Casey Schoolfield. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4425 West Airport Freeway, Suite 130, Irving, TX 75062. W.F. Musick, Jr.
Funeral services for W.F. Musick, Jr., 83, of Iredell, were held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Iredell, the Rev. Jerry DuBose officiating. Interment
followed at Mitchell cemetery. Musick died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at his Iredell residence. He was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Iredell. He married
Hazel Rierson on Nov. 2, 1952, in Clifton. The couple resided in Iredell. Musick served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later was a stock clerk for General Dynamics. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Musick of Iredell; daughters Karen Ann Curlee of Houston, and Susan Marie Gillentine of Iredell; sons Michael Wayne Musick of Yerrington, Nev., William Robert Musick of Houston, and Mark Timothy Musick of Iredell; and seven grandchildren, Kimberly Curlee Schaefer, Jacque Michelle Musick, Khristyon Musick, and Daniel, Matthew, Whitney, and William Gillentine. Alta Young Warren

followed at Clifton cemetery. She died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Mulberry Manor. She was born March 27, 1917, in Meridian, to G.F. and Gena Young. She attended schools in Dublin. On May 18, 1936, she married
Johnny L. Young. He preceded her in death. A housewife and clerk, she lived in Oklahoma, Levelland, Dublin, and Clifton. A member of the Baptist church, she treated people with respect and love, liked to go fishing with her husband, sisters, and brother-in-law at Lake Whitney, and enjoyed sewing. Warren is survived by niece Lawanna Roberson of Dublin; niece Laverne Nelson of Indiana; niece Olenda Stears of Tulsa, Okla.; nephew Rodney Moncrief of Floresville; sister-in-law Charlene Rutherford of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister-in-law Delma Hair of Pone. Pallbearers were Mike Roberson, Bill Parson, Chris Croft, and others. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Nicyann Frances (Fannie) Blue
Funeral services for Nicyann Frances (Fannie) Blue, 109, of Clifton, were held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at First United Methodist Church, Iredell, the Rev. Wayne Lewis, the Rev. Jerry DuBose, and Joyce Yant officiating. Interment
followed in the Mitchell cemetery. Blue had lived in three different centuries, and at the time of her death on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, she was the oldest living resident in Bosque County. She was born Sept. 5, 1894, in Clay County, Ala., the second of 11 children born to John henry and Barbara McGill Linch. At the age of nine, she moved with her family by train to Iredell, where she continued to live until entering Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home in May 1976. She attended Johnson Peak, Fairview, and Iredell schools. On Sept. 15, 1912, she married
William Charles (Bill) Blue while seated in a buggy in the shade of the tree that now stands in front of the Iredell Post Office. The couple raised three children - Otis, Cletos, and Rudell. She worked side-by-side with her husband in the fields until they retired in 1960. For a while in the 1950s, Blue also worked in Meridian, processing turkeys for the Curtis family. The remainder of her time was spent on cooking, crochet work, and piecing quilts. She was never idle, even at the Sunset Home, where she stayed busy every day with her handwork. Blue was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Iredell, and always enjoyed the visits of the pastor and the members after moving to the Sunset Home. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; her granddaughter Mickey Blue Bryan in 1985; and her son Otis Blue in 1992. Blue is survived by Cletos and wife Neva Blue of Iredell, Rudell Blue Smith of Lubbock, and Vera Blue of Clifton; grandchildren O.D. and Beverly Blue of Carl Junction, Mo., Charlie and Judy Blue of Clifton, Kenneth and Diann Kitching of Athens, Penny Blue of Fort Worth, and Donna Smith of Fort Worth; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Lillie Lammert Aanenson
Funeral services for Lillie Lammert Aanenson, 95, of Clifton, were held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton, the Rev. Herb Lammert and the Rev. Glenn Kramer officiating. The soloist at the services was Kelcey Albrecht. Interment
followed at Trinity Lutheran cemetery. Aanenson died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Clifton. She was born Nov. 21, 1908, near Crawford, to Henry and Martha Lammert. She had two brothers and three sisters. She moved with her parents to Bosque County in 1913, and attended school at Garnersville. She was baptized into the family of God on March 7, 1909, in McGregor. She was confirmed at Womack on March 25, 1923, and remained faithful to her commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ all her days. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton. She married
George Sanders Aanenson on July 4, 1937, at Saint Paul Lutheran near Clifton. To this union was born one child, Sandra Jean Aanenson. Aanenson was described as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was always concerned about her family. Family members say she was always there to help when needed, and that you could never go into her home without her offering you something wonderful to eat or drink. She was well-known for her wonderful food and sweets. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sanders Aanenson; parents Henry and Martha Lammert; brothers Raymond Lammert and Herbert Lammert; and sister Nelda Lammert Landgraf. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Jean and husband Monroe Janke of Clifton; grandson Greg Janke of Round Rock; sisters Clara Albrecht of Clifton, and Edna Mgebroff of Giddings; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were David Lammert of Temple, Sean Albrecht of Fort Worth, Clinton Albrecht of Clifton, Todd Townsend of Plano, Matt Holton of Waco, and Danny Lammert of Sagerton. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Janke, Colton Albrecht, Connor Albrecht, and Bobby Landgraf. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jerry Wayne Williams
Graveside funeral services for Jerry Wayne Williams, 58, a retired machinist from Morgan, were held Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at the Morgan cemetery, with Brother Bill Roe officiating. Williams died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at his home in Morgan after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 15, 1945, in Meridian, to Matt and Leona Williams. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on Oct. 6, 1966, and fought in the Vietnam War, earning two Bronze Service Stars and a Sharpshooters medal before his discharge on Oct. 4, 1968. He remained in the Army reserve until October 972. Williams was preceded in death by his father, Matt Williams; a brother, Dan Allen Williams; a sister, Donna Jean Williams; and a nephew, Billy Ray Williams, Jr. Survivors include his mother, Leona Williams of Morgan; a brother, Billy Ray Williams, Sr., of Morgan; a son, Jerry Wayne Williams, Jr., of Villa Rica, Ga.; two grandchildren, Dalton and Ashton Williams, both of Villa Rica, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ethel B. Sowell
Funeral services for Ethel B. Sowell, 86, of Walnut Springs, were held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Walnut Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Brett MacNelly officiating. Interment
followed in Oak Grove cemetery. Sowell dies Sunday night, Jan. 18, 2004, in a Glen Rose nursing facility following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 29, 1917, near Valley Mills, the daughter of the late James N. and Lola Baldridge Brantley. She attended Tarleton State College for two years, and later graduated from North Texas State University in Denton with degrees in history and economics. She began her teaching career in Eulogy in 1940, and later taught at Perryton, Iredell, and Walnut Springs, retiring in 1978. On Aug. 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Luther E. Sowell in Glen Rose. The couple had been residents of Walnut Springs since 1952. Sowell was an active member of Walnut Springs Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1994. Sowell is survived by son Bryan and wife Renee Sowell of Walnut Springs; grandchildren Sharon and Stephen Sowell; step-grandson Zakery Sowell; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Pallbearers were Jimmy Sowell, Douglas Sowell, Buddy Brantley, James Moore, Robert Moore, and Gene Rogers. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.
