Rev. Lawrence C. Jenson
Funeral and buriel services will be held for the Rev. Lawrence C. Jenson, 95, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in the Norse Community, Clifton, on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. The former pastor of Our Saviors Lutheran Church at Norse passed away on Aug. 21, 2004, at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. Born in Cranfills Gap, the son of Thomas and Mathilda Jenson, he attended Clifton Junior College, Luther College, and the Luther Theological Seminary. Married for 69 years to Camilla Reinertsen Jenson, he served as a Lutheran pastor in Canada, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Texas. Survivors include his loving wife, Camilla; their five children; David Jenson, Ann Jenson Surace; and three fostor children, Naomi Reinertsen Davidson, Dr. James Reinertsen, and Peter Reinertsen; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Arrangements were made through Clifton Funeral Home in Clifton.
Loye Louise Kelley
Funeral services were held for Loye Louise Kelley, 76, of Temple on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Turnersville Baptist Church of Turnersville with the Revs. Robert Pennett and Matthew Vandergriff officiating. Kelley was born to Jesse Lee and Lizzie Bell (Williams) Franklin on Nov. 26, 1927, in Natchez. She passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2004, in Fort Worth. Kelley attended nursing shool in Lubbock in 1970 and became a licensed vocational nurse. She married
Alvin Vernon Kelley on April 5, 1951. Her church affiliation was Southern Baptist. Her hobbies included music. Survivors include daughters, Audry Petty of Turnersville, Ruby Nell Dessert of Cresson, Patricia Baker of Kilgore, Paula Turex of Midland, Betty Smith of Harker Heights, and Margie Dunham of Gatesville; sons, Ray Kelley, William Kelley of Arlington, Mike Foster of Lindale, and Lee Kelley of Fort Worth; 31 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Petty, Angel Acosta, Jim Lahti, Jim Holmes, Daniel Dunham, and Ranial Kelley. Interment
was at Turnersville Memorial cemetery in Turnersville under the direction of Clifton Funeral Home.
Betty Jo Cole Plemons
Funeral services were held for Betty Jo Cole Plemons, 77, on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment
followed at Rosemound cemetery. Plemons was born in McGregor to Robert and Margaret Cole on Jan. 15, 1927. This loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Sunday, Sept. 26. She graduated from McGregor High School in 1943. She married
Vernon E. (Gene) Plemons on July 5, 1947, in McGregor. She was a homemaker and always was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church where she and Gene enjoyed many mission trips throughout the United States. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Ethel Varnell, Lula Renfro, and Alma Wilson. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Gene; sons, Bob Plemons and wife, Jo, of Abilene, Tom Plemons and wife, Kim, of League City; daughters, Karen Campbell of Waco, Jan Woosley and husband, Jeff, of Clifton; 10 grandchildren, Steve Plemons and wife, Angie, Mike Plemons and wife, Sarah, Chris Plemons, Jeremy Plemons and wife, Torrie, Michael Plemons, Russell Campbell, Dustin Campbell, Josh Woosley, Jordan Woosley and Jacob Woosley; three great-grandchildren, Mack Plemons, Ben Plemons and Kayden Plemons; brother, Robert Cole and wife, Fonceale, of San Antonio; sister, Edna Hunter of Port Arthur; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors. Elsie M. Stein
Graveside services were held of Elsie M. Stein, 93, on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Restland Memorial Park. The family will have a memorial service at Cedar Shores Baptist Church at a later date. Stein was born on March 30, 1911, in Haskell. She passed away Sept. 17, 2004, in Morgan. Preceding her in death are her parents, Justin and Annie Mary Stein, three brothers, Justin J. Stein, MD, Walter W. Stein, MD, William C. Stein. She is survived by her niece, Justine Stein Thomas and husband David. Arrangements were made through Restland Funeral Home of Dallas.
Reggie Fowler
Funeral services for Reggie Fowler, 64, of Meridian, were held Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church. Interment
followed in Meridian cemetery. Fowler died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, in Meridian. He was born May 23, 1940, to James and Edith Fowler, in Lewes, England. He married
Abbie Glosup on May 19, 1984, in Garland. Fowler is survived by his wife, Abbie Fowler of Meridian; daughters Melanie Janik of California and Tony Lorance of Mesquite; sons Andrew Fowler of England and Shawn Early of Garland; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relative, and friends. Pallbearers were Mike Binns, Matt Hull, Roby Urbanovsky, Garrett Barker, Joe West, Danny Dunn, Shawn Holmes, and Marvin Black. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.
Linda Rhea French
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at the Old Rock Church in Norse, for Linda Rhea French, 53, who died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, in Waco, following a long battle with cancer. She was born Feb, 27, 1951, in Clarksville. French was preceded in death by her father, Alvis Rhea. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth French of Norse; daughter Katrina of Norse; mother Jo Rhea of Clifton; sister Charlotte and husband Jerry Morrow of Whitewright, and their children, Steven, Valerie, and Krystal; brother Rick Rhea of Austin; father-in-law Charles and wife Mert French of Las Vega, NV; brother-in-law David and wife Rena French, and their children David and Sarah of Bullard; and sister-in-law Kathy and husband Roy Stapleford of Jacksonville. Fred Walker
Funeral services for Fred Walker, 72, of Meridian, were held Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery. Walker died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2004. He was born June 20, 1932, in Alvarado, to the late Ira and Gladys Walker. He attended schools in Alvarado, and served in the Korean War. He was a Baptist by faith. Walker is survived by a son, Fred Walker II and wife Michele Walker of Valley Mills; brother Hicks Walter of Cleburne; sisters Bettie and husband Bob Allen of Cleburne, and Claudine Logsdon of Casper, Wyo.; granddaughters Rebecca Walker, Amber Walker, Faith Walker, and Hannah Walker; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. John F. Amundson
Services were held for John F. Amundson, 66, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd Street, with military honors by the Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars; private burial will be held at a later date. Amundson was born to to Adolph George and Alvina (Grim) Amundson on Nov. 20, 1937, in Clifton. He passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Hays Medical Center. He married
Evelyn Binder on Oct. 22, 1982. He was a self-employed painter and spent most of his life in Hays. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving for 16 years and two missions in Vietnam. Suvivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Tim Amundson of Port O’Conner; a daughter, Nancy Harverth of Port o’Conner; two stepsons, David Finn of Troy, Mo., and Patrick Finn of Springfield, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Donna Bernard of Lyons, Ill., Diana Frogue of Mount Vernon, Mo., and Debbie Griffon of Springfield, Mo.; eight brothers; a sister; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cline’s Mortuary of Hays & Victoria were in charge of the arrangements.
Albert Doyle Weems
Funeral services for Albert Doyle Weems, 78, of Meridian, were held Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Harrell Memorial Chapel, Dublin, the Rev. Richard Creech officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jimmy Schmidt. Interment
followed at Mount Pleasant cemetery. Weems died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at a Clifton hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Dublin, to Albert Guy and Oma Mae (Hendrickson) Weems. On March 26, 1971, he married
Joann Gardner in Canton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Weems was a member of First Christian Church of Dublin and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Iredell. Weems was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Dwain Weems in 1995, and by sisters Pansy and Peggy Weems. He is survived by his wife, Joann Weems of Meridian; son Richard Weems of Springtown; grandsons Bryce Laughlin, and Roger Headrick of Meridian; great-granddaughters Sarah Schmidt of Clifton and Lauren Headrick of Koppell; brother Glen Weems of Dublin; sister Patsy Harvey of Dublin; stepdaughters Tony Laughlin, Laura Laughlin, and Rachel Schmidt; and stepson Jeff Laughlin. Harrell Funeral Home, Dublin, was in charge of arrangements.
Valerie Ann Wilhelmi
Funeral services were held for Valerie Ann Wilhelmi, 49, at Clifton Funeral Home with W.L. Walker officiating. Wilhelmi was born to Robert and Merrilyn Wilhelmi on Sept. 11, 1954, in Sacremento, Calif. She passed away on Aug. 28, 2004, in Clifton. She went to school in Sanwon, and married
Wallace Dean Merrow in 1974 in Napa, Calif. She was a U.S. Army nurse. Survivors include her parents, Robert W. and Merrilyn Newman; two sons, Shannon D. Merrow and Jeremy J. Edgar; two brothers, Charles Davis and Marshall J. Davis; half-brother, Anthony Wilhelmi; half-sister, Angela Jean Jenkinson; and three grandchildren.
