Billy Ray Nitcholas
Billy Ray Nitcholas, age 65, of Whitney, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, in the Veterans Adminstration Hospital in Temple.
Cremation services were provided by Lawson Funeral Home
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Billy was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Meridian, Texas. He was a son of the late Willie Ray Nitcholas and Inez Davidson Nitcholas.
He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator in road construction.
Billy served with the U. S. Army from 1961 until 1968. He was a Baptist.
On Aug. 10, 1979, he was united in marriage to Bobbie Purdue in Poteau, Okalhoma.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Nitcholas, of Whitney; children, Bonnie Nitcholas Peacock and husband, Cody, of Whitney and Robert Nitcholas of Gatesville; grandchildren, William and Wyatt Peacock; a sister, Lora Chancey of Polar, Georgia and a brother, Larry Nitcholas, of Kaufman; number of niecesx, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gary D. Goodwin
June 18, 1946 - May 25, 2013
Gary D. Goodwin, age 66, of Kopperl, passed away Saturday evening, May 25, 2013, in a Ft. Worth hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in the Kopperl First Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Crain officiating. Burial was in the Kopperl cemetery. Pallbearers were Byron Grounds, Jeff Barrett, Doug Day, Lloyd W. Kuykendall, Richard Derrick, and Kevin O'Daniel. Honorary Pallbearers were Doyle Waller, Lloyd Kuykendall, and Shane Waller.
A visitation was held from 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian.
Gary was born June 18, 1946, in Ft.Worth, Texas, where he was raised. He moved with his parents to Kopperl several years ago. Gary was a fixture in Kopperl where he was interested in the school athletics and functions. He loved his affilitation with the Kopperl Volunteer Fire Department where he was a faithful member until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Kopperl First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Margaret Ervin Goodwin.
He is survived by his sisters, JoAnn Krantz and her husband, Foy, of Kopperl and Rickie Ash of Burleson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Rosalee Allen
September 29, 1923 - May 11, 2013
Rosalee Elaine Berry Allen, age 89, of Ardmore, Oklahoma and formerly of Meridian, Texas, passed away May 11, 2013 in Oklahoma City.
Graveside funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Meridian cemetery with Rev. Don Worlow officiating. Serving as pallbearers were John Allen, Kevin Allen, Jay Small, Brandon Allen, Leslie Gray, Marcus Gray and Austin Allen.
Mrs. Allen was born September 29, 1923 in Fort Worth, Texas a daughter of Katherine Estelle Foster Berry and Thomas William Berry. She was married
to James Milford Allen on April 5, 1941 and together they shared 53 wonderful years doing pastoral ministering in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Mr. Allen preceded her in death on November 16, 1994. Mrs. Allen was a musician, singer, composer of songs, and poetic verse. She was also a very accomplished seamstress. Throughout her life, Mrs. Allen was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Church, serving where ever she went in what ever capacity she was needed.
Survivors include her daughters:
Lorece Pendleton of Henderson, Texas, Rebecca Small of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mary Allen Baker of Greenbriar, Arkansas, and Joanna Gray of Ardmore, Oklahoma
Her sons:
John M. Allen of Lubbock, Texas, and Buck W. Allen of Independence, Missouri
Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren
Mrs. Allen is also survived by a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Katherine Berry; her husband, James Milford Allen; and two sons, Timothy Twayne Allen and Alton James Allen.
A special thanks to Heartland Plaza - Armore, Oklahoma for all the wonderful love and care for the 20 months she lived there. Also, a special thanks to Integris Hospice House, Oklahoma City, for all the wonderful love and care in her short stay there.
It was one of her last wishes to have a headstone for her parents, Thomas and Katherine Berry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations go to the following for that headstone.

Archie M. Kelly
July 22, 1918 - May 19, 2013
Archie W. Kelly, age 94, of Iredell, passed away Sunday evening, May 19, 2013, in the Meridian Manor.
Visitation was from from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Lawson Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 23, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Mitchell cemetery in Iredell, Texas.
His pallbearers were Mike Adamson, Pat Adamson, Chuck Jenkins, Kelly Jenkins, Kim Kelly and Lan Kelly.
Archie was born July 22, 1918, in Killeen, Texas, where he was raised and educated. He lived in Bell County most of his life. On April 14, 1940, he was united in marriage to Dorothy D. Womble in Temple, Texas. He enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard in November of 1943 and served until February of 1946. He worked in Temple as a butcher before his miliary service and again after his discharge . He later joined Hormel Food Company in 1952 as a salesman. For the first few years, he lived in various parts before settling in Ft. Worth and retired after 30 years. Archie moved to Iredell in 1977, buying a small place where he raised and showed carneau pigeons and also raised parakeets. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed gardening and cooking out with this famiy and friends. He had been a member of the Iredell V.F.W. since 1978 where he was a lifetime member. Archie was affiliated with the Baptist church.
Survivors include his children: Susan Mingus and husband, Kenneth, of Iredell Butch Kelly of Fort Worth; Five Grandchildren; Fourteen Great-grandchildren; and Four Great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mozelle Adams of Killeen
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on January 26, 2009.

Henry (Hank) L. Van Poppel
April 29, 1939 - May 30, 2013
Hank Van Poppel, age 74, of Meridian, passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 3, 2013, in the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton with Father Tom Kennedy as officiant.
Serving as pallbearers were Scott Long, Jose Cano, Jerry Anders, Gus Hudson, Freddie Bottoms and Marc Shepard.
Hank will be taken to his home town in Ohio, where visitation will be at the Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate, Ohio, from 5 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria, Ohio, with burial in the church cemetery.

Born in Hamler, Ohio, on April 29, 1939, he was the son of Henry Van Poppel and Angeline Skipper Van Poppel. He was a graduate of Hamler High School in 1957. He married
his high school sweetheart, Janet Prigge, on Feb. 1, 1967, in Riverside, Ill.; she preceded him in death on March 12, 2005.
Hank completed his college requirements at Northwestern, served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era and was an active member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton. His life's passion was admiring the success of his sons, Scott and Todd, and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved life on earth with family and friends. Hank loved his ranch raising cattle and horses.
He is survived by his sons, Scott and wife, Chris, and their children, Cole Henry and Kate Van Poppel, all of Rotan, Texas, and Todd and wife, Alecia, and their children, Halee, Tate and Riley Van Poppel, all of Bartonville, Texas; brothers, Jim of Napoleon, Ohio, and Bob of Vass, N.C.; sisters, Ann Miller of Maumee, Ohio, Mary Klear of Continental, Ohio, Dorothy Van Poppel of Charden, Ohio, Susan Latta of Napoleon, Ohio, Evelyn Good of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Kathy Sanniti of Chargin Falls, Ohio; numberous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of great friends.

Helen L. Voiles, age 85, of Cleburne, passed away Monday evening, May 13, 2013, , in a Cleburne nursing facility.
Graveside services were held at 1:00P.M., Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Kimball cemetery on SH#174, near Kopperl. Chaplain Larry Schneider officiating. Pallbearers were: Rick Hester, Curt Voiles, Scott Voiles, Raigan Hester, Keith Hester, Chris Voiles, Lauren Hester, and Sydney Hester.
Helen was born August 15, 1927, in the Kimball area of Bosque County near Kopperl, Texas. She was a daugher of the late Frank Landon and Ruel America Capps Landon. Helen was raised in Morgan where she completed school. She married
Alton Voiles on May 18, 1946, in Weatherford. She attended Waco Beauty College in 1962 and graduated at the top of her class. Helen opened her own business in Kopperl that she operated for many years until moving to Clifton where she resided until moving to Cleburne about 10 years ago. She was a member of the Kopperl First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruel Landon; husband, Alton Voiles; grandson, Steven Lee Bivens and a brother, John Lee "Buddy" Landon.
Survivors include her children, Alton Lynn Voiles and wife, Kendra, of Cleburne and Cynthia Joyce Voiles Tharp and husband, Jerry, of Cleburne; grandchildren, Rick and Keith Hester, Chris, Scott, Curt and Logan Voiles; 12 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Amy Deanna Mantooth Adams, age 44, passed away on August 16, 2016 in Glen Rose, Texas.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 19, 2016 at the First United Pentecostal Family Church in Cleburne, Texas. Rev. Dewaun Ashley, Rev. F.L. Ashley, and Rev. W.C. Roach will officiate. Burial will be in the Brazos Point cemetery in Brazos Point. A reception will follow the burial at the Brazos Point Church fellowship hall. A visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian.
Pallbearers are Lesley Jameson, Scott Tacker, Mark Tacker, Otis Vaughn, Larry Williams, Theo Heartsill, and David Doss.
Amy Deanna Mantooth was born on May 12, 1972 in Cleburne, Texas to Harvey Lee and Sandra Joyce Barnes Mantooth. She attended and graduated from Glen Rose High School. Shortly after graduating from high school Deanna started working in the banking business. While still in school she attended the Vine Life United Pentecostal Church in Glen Rose. On July 4, 1992 she married
Michael Adams in Glen Rose, Texas. Deanna served as a ministers wife in Electra, Texas, Marlin, Texas, and also Walnut Springs, Texas. She was currently attending the First United Pentecostal Family Church in Cleburne.
She is survived by her husband, R. Michael Adams of Glen Rose; daughters, Kamie Rayanna Adams, Emilee Maranda Adams, and Allie Denae Adams all of Glen Rose; parents, Harvey and Sandra Mantooth of Glen Rose; sisters, Shelia Gail Doss and husband, David, of Glen Rose, Trudy Heartsill and husband, Theo, of Walnut Springs; nieces, Lindsey and Lauren Heartsill of Walnut Springs; and a number of other relatives and many friends.

William (Bill) R. Shields, Jr.
August 12, 1947 - August 8, 2016
William Ray (Bill) Shields, Jr., age 68, of Clifton, entered heaven on August 8, 2016, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 13, 2016, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian. Richard Norton officiating.
He was born to Ray and Christine Shields on August 12, 1947, in Odessa, Texas. The family moved to the Lake Whitney area in 1957 and he graduated from Meridian High School in 1965. In 1969, he married
Sandra Jackson and from that union a daughter, Natalie Renee, was born. In September of 1976, he married
Ellen Sommerfeld and they had 2 daughters, Nikki and Rebecca.
Bill was an antique collector and was co-founder of the Laguna Park Flea Market. There wasn't anything he couldn't sell to anyone. His love for sports in high school led him to try out for the Houston Astros as a pitcher. The 2 things he loved the most, besides his family, were being outdoors hunting and fireworks. He sold fireworks every 4th of July and Christmas for almost 50 years in Laguna Park. Bill enjoyed being out on the Greenwade Ranch hunting and fishing with his kids, grandkids, sons-in-law, nephew and numerous hunting buddies. If he wasn't at home, he was in the pasture on his 4 wheeler. When he wasn't in the pasture, he was chauffeuring around Ellen on their "ole blue" motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Sommerfled) Shields, of Clifton; daughters, Nikki Michaud and husband, Jeffrey, of Clifton, Rebecca Church and husband, Chad, of Laguna Park and Natalie Turner and husband, Vernon, of Granbury; grandchildren, Brady and Logan Michaud, McKenna, Mattelyn and Micah Church, Courtney Turner and numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Christine Shields, a brother, Ronnie Shields, a grandson, Michael Church and a niece, Dana Jorgenson.
