Funeral services for Mildred Jeanne Woods Owen, 85, of Morgan, were held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Lawson’s Funeral Home in Meridian. Interment
followed at Kimball Bend cemetery near Kopperl. Owen died at her home on Jan. 26, 2005. She was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Forsyth, Ill., the daughter of Fay and Mildred Glasgow Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Mildred Glasgow Woods; brothers Garth Woods and Harlan Woods, husbands Donald Mortimer and Arville Owen; and son Orville Owen, Jr. Owen is survived by her children, Jerry and wife Della Owen of Morgan, Jimmy Owen of Morgan, Charlie and wife Nancy Owen of Lakeside Village, Elizabeth and husband Melvin King of Lakeside Village, Ellen and husband Joe Fields of Grapevine, David Leslie of Cuba, Mo., Vernon Leslie of Springfield, Mo., and Ray Leslie of Reno, Nev.; sister-in-law Lois Woods; brother-in-law Roy and wife Dorothy Owen; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, was in charge of arrangements.
Ada Marie Warren
Funeral services were held for Ada Marie Warren, 92, of Waco on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Brother John Collier of Parkview Baptist Church, where she was a member, officiating. Warren passed away on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005. Warren was an active member of the V.F.W. Post 8564 Ladies Auxiliary and was recognized as an important part of her husband’s career as a Army recruiter in the 1970’s. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe O. Shields and daughter, Ramona Warren. Survivors include husband, William B. Warren, daughters, Bonnie J. Beagle and husband David of McGregor, Shirley A. Fernandez and husband Joe of Waco, Ruby Faye Dunlap of Great Falls, MT; sons, A.C. Shields and wife Judy of Dallas, William Warren, Jr. and wife Linda of Temple; sister, Gladys Frazier of Hurst; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Freddie Samuelson, Tommy Robinson, Mike Samuelson, Gary Samuelson, Paul Frazier and Neal Shotwell. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Norris, Foy Gilbreath and Curtis Wayne Patterson. “She is now at peace with her Father and will be greatly missed here.” The family invites friends and family to leave a message or memory in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com. Dean Dittrich
Funeral services for Willie Dean Leona Huse Dittrich, 85, of Clifton, were held Monday, March 28, 2005, in First Baptist Church of Hamilton, the Rev. Keith Felton officiating. Interment
followed in Boggy cemetery, near Cranfills Gap. Dittrich died Friday, March 25, 2005, in Clifton. She was born March 25, 1920, in Cranfills Gap, the daughter of John L. and Malinda Pederson Huse. On. Nov. 19, 1938, she was united in marriage with Ovie Dittrich in Cranfills Gap. They shared 66 years of life together. She was described as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a farmer’s wife, and called a wonderful cook and helpmate to her husband. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamilton. Dittrich was preceded death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by her husband, Ovie Dittrich of Jonesboro; son Richard Dittrich of Grapevine, Barbara Henderson of Meridian, and Ovie Dittrich, Jr., of Crossville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jenny Huse of Oklahoma City, Okla. Pallbearers were Don Dittrich, Derek Dittrich, Jon M. Henderson, David Iklebarner, Jimmy L. Huse, and Edwin W. Dittrich. Riley Funeral Home, Hamilton, was in charge of arrangements.
J.T. Lomax
J.T. Lomax, 102, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 22, 2005, in the Meridian Manor in Meridian. He was born in Meridian on Aug. 4, 1902, where he had resided his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Lee Adams Lomax and Addison Silas Lomax; sister, Ida Mae Moore; his wife of 54 years, Mary Jane Evans Lomax, (1924-1978); and his wife of 21 years, Fern White Lomax, (1981-2002), and a stepdaughter, Barbara White Neely. J.T.’s great-grandfather settled in Bosque County in 1869. Since that time there have been 67 persons bearing the Lomax name who have lived in the county, and now there are none. Most notable of these was John A. Lomax, “The Ballad Hunter, ” who was J.T.’s great uncle. J.T. attended Meridian Public School and Meridian College. During his long productive years, he contributed much to his community as mayor, city council member, board member of the Meridian Independent School District, and an active member of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce where he received a lifetime achievement award in 1995. He also served as a Deacon in the Meridian First Baptist Church for many years. J.T. was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Meridian Masonic Lodge for over 81 years. His many business activities included a feed store, livery stable, the first service station, and Ford automobile agency in Bosque County, a funeral home, Chrysler/Plymouth Agency, and a merchant banking business. J.T. will be remembered as an honest, kind, and respected gentleman by all who came in contact with him. We have lost one of the last eye witness of history, from the horse and buggy to space travel. Survivors are daughter, Jane Bolton and her husband, Paul, of Oklahoma City, and their children, Nancy Miller and husband, Randy, of Paris; Kathy O’Brien and husband, Tim, of California, and Steve Bolton and wife, Sharon, of Jones, Okla.; daughter, Ann Campbell and husband, John, of Morgan, and their children, Suzan Makins and husband, Pat, of San Angelo; John Campbell and wife, Judy, of Del Rio, and Janie Trentacosta and husband, Jeff, of Carrollton; son, Jim W. Lomax and wife, Carolyn, of Woodway, and their children, J. Addison Lomax and wife, Rachel, of Bedford and Debi Skillman and husband, Rick, of Alvin Other survivors include 13 great-grandchildren, Megan and Maranda Miller; Samantha and Stephanie Bolton; Daniel Makins and wife, Claire; Sarah Makins McAlister and husband, Chris; Kaitlyn and Matthew Campbell; Jessica and Melissa Trentacosta; Britni, Skyler Brooke and Christopher James Skillman; and one great-great-granddaughter, Hallie Grace McAlister; stepsons, Jimmie White of Meridian, David White and wife, Marilyn, of Burleson and the families of Barbara, Jimmie, and David. Also surviving is a first cousin, Sue Standifer Clendenon of Lubbock, and many other cousins throughout Texas. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 25, 2005, in the Meridian First Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Creech and the Rev. Bill Schibler officiating. Burial was in the Meridian cemetery. Visitation with the family present was from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2005, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, 803 N. Main Street in Meridian. Phyllis Marie (Foster) Anz
Phyllis Marie (Foster) Anz of Clifton, age 80 years, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m., at Providence Hospital in Waco. Mr. Clint Schofield of the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton presided. Anz was born on Aug. 15, 1925 in Shelby, Iowa to Clyde J. and Marie J. (Stuhr) Foster. She attended Kingston High School, graduating in 1943. Dec. 20, 1947, she married
Delbert C. Anz in Canton, Okla. and they had one son, Phillip. Anz resided in Whitney, Odessa, Falcon Pass, and Clifton (1965 to date). She also lived in various cities in Iowa, Okla., Wyo., Colo., Ark., and Ala. She worked as a bookkeeper/office manager for C.F. Lytle Construction; Kraft; and Goodall-Witcher Clinic of Clifton. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton and was involved with the Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW. Her public activities included choir and church secretary. Always friendly and outgoing, Anz enjoyed her pets and friends of the church, the community, and the clinic; cooking and recipes, and crocheting. Anz was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert on June 22, 2003. She is survived by Dr. Phillip and Diana Anz-Meador, her son and daughter-in-law; Tannie Anz-Meador, granddaughter, all of Prescott, Ariz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosa Lee Dahl of Waco; Dorothy and Billy Humphries, J.C. “Tucker” and Gladys Anz, Clarence and Martha Anz, Franklin and Marlene Anz, and Margie Anz, all of Clifton; as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. Pallbearers were Billy Joe Anz Jr., David Anz, Gary Anz, Ricky Benfer, Charlie Blue, and Dr. George Larson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton. The immediate family thanks all those who have blessed Phyllis with their friendship, support, and transportation during these last few years.
Astrid Camilla Jenson
Astrid Camilla Jenson, “Camilla, ” passed away on Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton. Funeral services will be held at the Norse Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Friday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m. Viewing will be at the Clifton Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. “Camilla” was born in Watertown, South Dakota in 1911, to Rev. Jens Reinertsen and Christine Hinderlie. Her parents moved to Groveton, Texas when she was six years old to serve a parish of Norwegian Lutherans. At the age of 14, she moved with her family to Oslo, in the Texas panhandle. At the age of 16, she enrolled at Clifton Lutheran Academy, where she was valedictorian of her class. After graduating from Clifton College, Camilla taught public school music and English in Gruver. She then attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota, graduating from St. Olaf with honors in English and Music. She married
Lawrence “Curley” Jenson, whom she had met at Clifton College. As the wife of Rev. Jenson, she lived in Canada, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Texas. Wherever they went, she directed choirs of children and adults, played organ and piano, and patiently taught music to hundreds of children, many of whom went on to professional careers in music. She was known for her beautiful singing voice, but she also had many other gifts. Camilla was a talented seamstress, hair stylist, furniture upholsterer and refinisher, baker, and gardener. She was a devoted mother who raised two children of her own, and later took in the three children of her brother, Luther Reinsertsen, who died in an auto accident. She and Lawrence retired in Clifton, after serving their last parish, Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Norse. They then spent their last years at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home on the Clifton College campus where they had met as teenagers. Her beloved husband died in August, 2004. They had been married
for 65 years. Camilla is survived by five children: David Jenson, Ann Jenson Surace, James Reinertsen, Peter Reinertsen, and Naomi Reinertsen Davidson; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Flora Allene Fitzpatrick Harris
Funeral services were held for Flora Allene Fitzpatrick Harris on Friday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m., at the Church of Christ with Minister Matt Martin presiding. Harris, 83, passed away on Dec. 20, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Harris was born to Floyd and Laura Lee Fitzpatrick on Sept. 7, 1922, at 5 a.m., in Lorena. Along with her brother Bill and sister Ruth, she grew up on a farm near Bruceville in McLennan County. After graduation from Lorena High School, she moved to Clifton in 1940 to attend Clifton College. Harris resided in Clifton the remaining 65 years of her life. Throughout those years, she held various clerical and secretarial positions, most recently at Rick Lundberg, C.P.A. Harris was active in church, taught Bible classes, and sang in the choir. She was also active in Clifton Community Choir, Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion Auxiliary, and Clifton Study Guild. She is survived by her brother, Bill Fitzpatrick of Cantonment, Fla., and her sister Ruth Cooke of Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver Christenson and second husband Baley Harris. Pallbearers were R.D. Hurst, Gayle Squyres, Jim Bill Harris, Don Harris, Rick Lundberg, and Jack Broodo. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran cemetery. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Annie Lee Richey
Annie Lee Richey, 83, passed away on Dec. 25, in Clifton, her home for the past six years. Richey was born in Wheeler on April 6, 1922, to the late Hardy Edwin and Loma (Long) Chapman. She went to Comanche, Okla. with her family as an infant. She began her education in Pike, Okla. and graduated from Walters High School in 1940. She married
Walter T. Richey on June 24, 1941 in Walters, Okla. She worked in the shipyards in California during World War II, after which, due to his employment with Northern Natural Gas, she and her husband lived in many states before retiring and returning to the Ringling/Wilson, Okla. area in 1983. In 1985, they operated a ranch south of Ardmore, then after the death of her husband, she moved to Clifton in 1998 to reside with her daughter. Richey was preceded in death by her father, who died Jan. 17, 1933; her mother, who died July 30, 1994; her sisters Edna Chapman on Sept. 30, 1978; Ethel Chapman and Nelda Ruth Roberts on June 2, 2001; and her brother Willis ‘Bud’ Chapman on May 7, 1988. Survivors include her three children, Walter and wife Ester of Gladstone, Mo.; Johnny and wife Rita of Overbrook, Okla; and Kay and husband Fred Baker of Clifton; five grandchildren, John and Kerrie Baker of Whitney; Liana Richey of Gladstone, Mo.; Jason and Carla Baker of Clifton; Titiana and Carl Camacho of Kansas City, Mo.; and Anna Richey; four great-grandchildren, Chris, Zack, Dacie, and Justin; and three sisters, Mildred Harris of Ringling; Winnie Owings of Ratliff City, Okla.; and Ruby Holt of Wichita, Kan. Palbearers included John Baker, Jason Baker, Carl Comacho, Johnny Parrish, Larry Wilson, and Ronald Harris. Graveside rites were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Ringling Memorial cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Duck officiating. Burial services were also held at the Ringling Memorial cemetery in Ringling, Okla.
Rev. Lauren C. Endahl
A memorial service for the Reverend Lauren C. Endahl of Clifton, 55, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton. Endahl passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. He was born on July 12, 1950, in Mitchell, S.D., to Delno and Ardith Endahl. He grew up in Mitchell and Sioux Falls, and graduated in 1968 from Washington Senior High School in Sioux Falls. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D. in 1972, and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. in 1976. Endahl served as Pastor of Immanual Lutheran Church and St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Brenham, from 1977 to 1980. He began serving as Chaplain at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton in January of 1980, and later became president of the Sunset Home, a position that he held until 2001. From 2001 to 2003, he served as Pastor of Oak Cliff Lutheran Church in Dallas. Due to his failing health, he retired in Clifton in 2003. He loved music and played the piano, organ, and keyboard. He enjoyed cooking and gathering with friends to share delicious food. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed his visits to South Dakota and trips to Holden Village, Europe, and Hong Kong. At the time of his death, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served on the Board of Worship and Music, played in the church bell choir, and assisted with the music for worship by playing the keyboard. His father, Delno, preceded him in death in 2003. Survivors include his mother, Ardith Endahl of Clifton; sisters Janalee Endahl of Pflugerville; and Julie Coats of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and nephew Jeremy Ice of Montgomery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Bell Choir and special music projects, 803 West 3rd, Clifton, TX 76634, or the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, Box 71, Clifton, TX 76634, for furnishings in the Lauren Endahl Residence Hall in Rainbow Village.
