REV. P. A. LINDLEY, age 90 of Coleman, died Thursday (December 6, 2001) at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday (December 8, 2001) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T. H. Chapman officiating assisted by Rev. ElRoy Martin. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. at Fulton cemetery near Walnut Springs in Bosque County. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Rev. Lindley was born September 20, 1911, in Cottle County, near Paducah, a son of Samuel Richard and Arunah Garner Lindley. He was raised and attended schools in Quanah. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. He married Laverne Rhodes on December 24, 1963 in Abilene. She preceded in death on April 21, 2001. He pastered several churches including Lawn before moving to Coleman in the 1960’s, where he pastered the United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Harold Lindley of Lake Leon, Texas and J. T. Lindley of Ranger; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Rev. Lindley was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter Lindley and Izetta Redwine.

Visitation will be held Friday (December 7, 2001) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the funeral home.

J. A. BOZEMAN, age 79, of Coleman, died Thursday (December 6, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Elm Street Church of Christ with Joe Hailey officiating and assisted by Fred Bozeman. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Bozeman was born January 13, 1922 in Shields, Texas and was a son of the late John Aaron and Lillie Mae Loyd Bozeman. He grew up in Coleman and attended school here. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. On September 20, 1945 he married Rena Vivian Jewell in Coleman. He owned and operated Bozeman Plumbing in Coleman for over 37 years. He was a long-time member and deacon of Elm Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Bozeman of Coleman; two daughters, Ellen Joyce Poisall (and husband Charles) of North Richland Hills, Texas and Melissa Joy Bagley (and husband Terry) of Brownwood, Texas; one son, Fred Bozeman (and wife Carol) of Rye, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Alisa Henderson (and husband J. J.) of Creedmoor, N.C., Rebecca Day (and husband Carson) of Bedford, Texas, Christopher Bozeman (and wife Teri) of Rye, Colorado, Michael Bozeman of Tyler, Texas, Tiffany, Sherry, Jeffery Bagley all of Brownwood, Michael and Gary Bagley both of Coleman; nine great-grandchildren, Emily Faith Henderson, Abigail Jordan Herderson, Bonnie Bozeman, Benjimen Bozeman, Kaitlyn Bagley, McKenzie Bagley, Caleb Bagley, Gary Bagley, Jr., Bryan Lee Bagley; two sisters, Ruby Arms of Coleman and Willie B. Medcalf of Bloomfield, New Mexico; one brother, Louie M. Bozeman of Branson, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605 or the Elm Street Church of Christ, P. O. Box 998, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Sammie Adams of Sherman, formerly of Burkett, died Monday, December 10, 2001 in Whitesboro. A private burial will be held at Adams cemetery near Burkett. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Site V.F.W. in Pottsboro. Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home. Sammie Adams was born in 1929 in Santa Anna to the late Harold and Luceill Parsons Adams. He grew up in Burkett and attended school there. He had lived in Sherman for the past 50 years where he was employed in road construction. Survivors include: one daughter - Vickie Adams of Collinsville; a cousin - Bill Slack of Coleman. Memorials an be made to Lake Site V.F.W., Pottsboro, Texas 75076.

VOYCE TURNER NOBLES, age 70, died Monday (December 10, 2001) at Coleman County Medical Center. The body was cremated and no public service is planned. Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nobles was born on June 3, 1931 in Kempner, Texas and was the daughter of the late Lydia Smith Turner and Ira Henderson Turner. She grew up in Lampasas County and attended school there. She had lived most of her life in the Lampasas and Kempner area and moved to Coleman several years ago. She was a Baptist.

She is survived by two nephews, Dale Dowden of Wharton, Texas and Lary Rose of Menard, Texas; numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, June Dowden and Frances Rose.

LUTHER EARL GOODWIN, age 80 of Coleman, died Wednesday (December 19, 2001) at Texas State Veteran’s Nursing Home in Temple. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (December 22, 2001) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Donald Williams officiating, assisted by Joe Hailey. Burial will follow in Coleman cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Goodwin was born September 24, 1921 in Voss, Coleman County, Texas a son of Thomas Ernest and Flora May Jones Goodwin. He was raised in Coleman County and attended schools in Coleman. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942, serving four years. On February 1, 1943, he married Mavis Jo Barnes in Coleman. He worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Coleman as a mechanic for 29 years, a life-time member of the Coleman Volunter Fire Department and a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ.

Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife, Mavis Goodwin of Coleman; three sons, Larry Goodwin of Temple, Randy Goodwin of Satanta, Kansas, Kary Goodwin of Coleman; one daughter, Joann (Jodi) Pate of Haltom City, Texas; four grandchildren, Daryl Pate of Saginaw, Texas, Sheila Mitchell of Hurst, Texas, Garrett Goodwin of Temple and Derek Goodwin of Coleman; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Josiah and Naomi Mitchell all of Hurst, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Homer Goodwin; one sister, Lola Mae Keeney Taylor.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (December 21, 2001) at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Coleman Volunteer Fire Department, 117 North Concho, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Kenney, Charles Graves, Ricky Barnett, Melton Kennedy, Roy Buse and Jimmie Driskell.

NORA S. CALVILLO, age 35, of Coleman, died Saturday (December 22, 2001) at an Abilene hospital. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday ( December 25, 2001) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (December 26, 2001) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Cyr officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Nora S. Calvillo was born January 9, 1966 in Abilene, Texas and was the daughter of Jose Guadalupe Sanchez and Julia Morales Sanchez. She grew up in Winters and graduated from Winters High School. On April 24, 1998 she married Antonio "Tony" Calvillo in Cuidad Acuna, Mexico. She moved to Coleman in 1997 and had been employed at Casa Cabana Restaurant in Winters. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Winters and since to moving to Coleman, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a Crusillo.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Calvillo of Coleman; one daughter, Norah Juanita Calvillo of Coleman; her parents, Jose Guadalupe and Julia Sanchez of Winters; five sisters, Yolanda Loya of Abilene, Norma Sanchez of Coleman, Monica Sanchez of Abilene, Sesilia Lugo of Winters and Esmeralda Hoyle of San Diego, California; three brothers, Jose M. Sanchez of Ballinger, Jesus Sanchez of Winters, Presiliano Sanchez of Coleman; three step-sons, Mario Calvillo of Fort Worth, Audencio and Jesus Calvillo both of Leon, Gto., Mexico; one step-daughter, Bernanda Calvillo of Leon, Gto., Mexico; several nieces and nephews.

LESLIE DREW DOBBINS, SR., age 80, of Coleman, died Thursday (December 27, 2001) at Coleman County Medical Center. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (December 30, 2001) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Northway officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Coleman cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Leslie Dobbins, Sr. was born September 27, 1921 in Coleman County, Texas and was a son of the late Drew Jackson Dobbins and Dora Jones Dobbins. He grew up in the Loss Creek community and attended school at Loss Creek. On May 25, 1942 he married Christine Mitchell in Coleman. He served in the 8th Air Corp, 305th Bomber Group during World War II as a radio operator and gunner on the B-17. He flew 35 missions over Germany and occupied France and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Dobbins owned and operated Dobbins Service Station in Coleman for over 50 years. He was a charter member and deacon of Bible Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Dobbins of Coleman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Joe Faries of Coleman and Cathye and Ted Kirby of Early; one son and daughter-in-law, Les, Jr. and Diana Dobbins of Coleman; one sister and brother-in-law, Maudie and Richard Kelley of Coleman; five grandchildren, Christina (and husband Jason) Weger of Cisco; Travis (and wife Mikki) Kirby of Brownwood, Aaron Dobbins of Coleman, Crystal Kirby of Early and Adam Dobbins of Coleman; one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Kirby of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 1015 Commercial, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

HELEN E. CARRASCO, age 73 of Coleman, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 at her son’s home in Garland. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Coleman. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Coleman City cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carrasco was born August 18, 1928 in Monahans, a daughter of Porfirio Gonzales and Maria Minerva Lujan Enriquez. She was raised and attended schools in Monahans. She married Rev. W.C. Carrasco on August 29, 1946 in Monahans. She was the director of the W.M.U. for two years, known now as the Baptist Women and was a member of the Heart of Texas Spanish Baptist Association. She moved to Coleman in 1983, where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the nursing homes and worked as a counselor for Central Texas Opportunities. She was a member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. W.C. Carrasco of Coleman; three sons, Ernesto Carrasco of Garland, Ednoi Carrasco of Houston, Eliseo Carrasco of Tyler; one daughter, Esther Carrasco of San Antonio; one sister, Stella Lujan of Tuscon, Arizona; seven grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaugher on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Carrasco was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

TED BOSS, age 74, of Allen, Texas, died Tuesday (January 1, 2002) in Bonham, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (January 5, 2002) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Interment icon at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Ted Boss was born September 9, 1927 in Wheaton, Illinois and was the son of Theodore Nelson Boss, Sr. and Bernece Watson Boss. He grew up and attended school in Glen Ellen, Illinois. He served in the U. S. Army Band during World War II. On August 15, 1953 he married Wanda Lou Watson in Abilene and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2001. He lived in Abilene until 1968 where he worked in sales for KRBC. He lived in Germany from 1968-1978; El Paso from 1978-1992; Cloudcroft, NM from 1992-2001, and moved to Allen, Texas in 2001. He was in insurance sales. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Greg and Lyn Boss of Allen, Texas and Tim Boss of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Melissa Boss of Austin, Texas; three granddaughters, Nicol Medina, Deborah Boss, Sabrina Boss; two grandsons, Eddie Melton and Michael Melton; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Medina and Morgan Grace Medina; one sister, Shirley Harrison of Anacortes, Washington.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any hospice organization.

CHARLES H. ALLEN, age 83, of Coleman, died Sunday (January 6, 2002) at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (January 9, 2002) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. G. Dean Coultas officiating and assisted by Rev. Arthur Allen. Burial with military honors will follow at Santa Anna cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Allen was born November 30, 1918 in Wright, New York and was a son of Hiram J. Allen and Jennie A. Pike Allen. He grew up and attended school in Delmar, New York. While stationed at Camp Bowie, Texas, he married Allene Talley in Santa Anna, Texas on November 26, 1943. He served in the U. S. Army, 210th Armored Division, in the European Theatre of Operations and was a participant in D-Day. Following his time in service, he lived in Delmar, New York until moving to Coleman, Texas in 1980. He worked as a truck driver for Mueller for several years and was a Methodist. He was a life-time member of the Elsmere, NY fire department.

Survivors include his wife, Allene Allen of Coleman, Texas; one son, Rev. Arthur (and wife Chris) Allen of Blooming Grove, Texas; one daughter, Charlene Bullock of Coleman, Texas; four grandchildren, S/Sgt. Patrick (and wife Beckie) Allen of Twenty Nine Palms, California, Angel (and husband S/Sgt. Timothy) Carson of Abilene, Texas, Monica (and husband Shane) Freels of Dallas, Texas and B. J. Bullock of Coleman, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Kaitlyn, Kevin, Trenton and Isabella; one brother, Bill Roney of Cobleskill, New York; two sisters, Ethel Fisher of Cobleskill, New York and Ruby Scheffel of Albany, New York.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Richard Charles Allen in 1970; one brother and one sister.

JOE C. GOLSON, age 67, of Coleman, died Tuesday (January 8, 2002) at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday (January 11, 2002) in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Burkett cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Joe C. Golson was born February 18, 1934 in Coleman, Texas and was a son of Wade and Joanna Walker Golson. He grew up in Burkett and Novice and graduated from Novice High School. On May 23, 1952 he married Hope Fuller in Novice and she preceded him in death on May 19, 1995. He lived at Burkett for many years where he farmed and ranched and operated a dairy. He also worked for 22 years for Champlain Petroleum Company as a pumper.

Survivors include two sons, Tim (and wife Suzanne) Golson of Coleman and Tony (and wife Susan) Golson of Midland, Texas; one foster son, Charles Frierson of Spring, Texas; two brothers, Pete Golson of Rankin and Roy Golson of San Antonio; one sister, Beth Kleiber of Burkett, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Tammy Golson in 1962, Tamarah Joanna Hope Golson in 1994; one son, Tracy Guy Golson in 1996 and one brother, James L. Golson in 2001.
