Hollas
CAMERON – Shirley Hollas, 69, of Cameron died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at her home. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Chamberlain and Rev. Tom Hanus officiating. Burial followed in St. Monica’s Cemetery. Mrs. Hollas was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Cameron to Wesley and Julia (Young) Scarborough. She married Louis Hollas Oct. 31, 1953. She had worked as secretary in the Milam County Veteran’s Service Office. She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and a member of the Central Texas Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Louis Hollas of Cameron; three sons, David William Hollas of Concord, CA, Dennis Paul Hollas and wife Majorie of Keller, Stephen Ray Hollas and wife Lori of College Station; two daughters, Linda Blinka and husband Patrick of Cameron, Laura Dohnalik and husband Craig of Bryan; two brothers, Billy Scarborough and wife Berniece of Cameron, Jimmy Scarborough of Conroe; two half-sisters, Gwen Smith of Conroe, Beth Nix of Conroe; and 13 grandchildren.

Delao
CAMERON – Funeral services for Nevis H. Delao, 66, of Ben Arnold, were held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial followed in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud. He died Wednesday, Sept. 14, at his home. Mr. Delao was born on Aug. 6, 1939, in Barclay to John and Juanita (Sanchez) Delao. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Marcelino Delao. Survivors include four daughters, Rose Mary Jimenez of Temple, Gloria Delao of Cameron, Becky Mendoza of Cameron, Cindy De La Rosa of Cameron; mother, Juanita Delao of Rogers; two brothers, George Delao of Cameron, Jesse Delao of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Mary Lou Jimenez of Rogers, Mary Sue Gonzales of Cameron, Linda Lara of Rosebud; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Lacken
CAMERON – Larry William Lacken, 59, of Cameron died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at his home. Services will be planned at a later date. His body will be cremated. Mr. Lacken, a chemical processing operator was born April 26, 1945, in Las Vegas, Nevada to Thomas Walter and Anne Louise (Decker) Lacken. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Lacken had also worked in the aerospace industry as a centerless grinder and he was a rancher. ’ÄÉ Survivors include his wife, Wendy Lacken of Cameron; daughter Brenda Broussard and husband Rob of Texas City; grandchildren, Andrew Broussard and Katie Broussard.

Anderson
GAUSE – Services for Florence L. Anderson, 80, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Clay Road Baptist Church. Graveside services and interment followed at 1:30 p.m. at Gause Cemetery in Gause. Mrs. Anderson died Sunday, Aug. 29. She had been an active member of Clay Road Baptist Church since 1966 and was active in her local civic club. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son, Douglas R. Anderson and wife Melanie; a granddaughter, Christine Anderson; and two grandsons, Jerry and Jason Jordan; also, numerous nieces, nephews and her many card and domino playing friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

Galbreath
Funeral services for Thomas Galbreath, 75, of Rockdale were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at St. John’s United Methodist Church where an overflow crowd of more than 350 turned out to pay final respects to the well-known civic and church leader.
Rev. John Warren, St. John’s pastor, officiated the celebration of life service. Burial followed in the Salty Cemetery.
Mr. Galbreath died about 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Richards Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born July 5, 1929, in Thorndale to Otto and Ollie Willie (Clark) Galbreath. He was a 1946 graduate of Thorndale High School. He received his bachelor of Science in 1950, his Master of Education in 1960 and his Education Administration in 1968, all from Texas A&M University.
Mr. Galbreath and Wanda Dean Walthall were married in Thorndale on Dec. 21, 1952.
He served as a vocational agriculture teacher in Taylor for 13 years and in the Valley for two years. He was principal at Goliad two years and Garwood one year. Then he served as superintendent of schools in Garwood 1967-1968, Bellville 1968-1976, Hallettsville 1976-1984 and Runge 1984-1990.
He retired from his education career in 1990 and moved to Rockdale, and worked 10 years at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, retiring in 2000.
Mr. Galbreath was a member and a lay speaker at St. John’s United Methodist Church, He was a member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge No. 414 AF&AM, and the Rockdale Noon Lions Club which he had served as president. He was a past district governor of Lions International District 2-S3. He was also a director on the board of the Texas Lions Children’s Camp at Kerrville. For the past two years, he was president of Milam County Retired Teachers.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Galbreath of Rockdale; daughters, Linda Carol Zander of Round Rock, Brenda Faye Baker and husband James David of Rockdale, and Debra Lu Wiederhold and husband Donald Ray of Round Rock; son, Brian Douglas and wife Sheila Ann of Rockdale; brother, Billy K. Galbreath and wife Lillian of Rockdale; sister, LuNan Ogea and husband Leo of Rockdale; 10 grandchildren,
Erin and Stephen Weaver, Jennifer and Colin Stanley, Chad Zander and fiancee Stephanie, Tommy and Lindsey Lumsford, Ryan Zander, Tanya Baker, Laura Baker, Daniel Wiederhold, Sabrina Beeman and Celina Galbreath; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Lumsford and Shelby Weaver.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Rockdale Noon Lions Club, or Rockdale Masonic Lodge.
Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Brannon
Services for A.W. "Wilson" Brannon, 83, of Rockdale were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Brannon died Tuesday, Aug. 3, at his home near Rockdale.
A resident of Rockdale for the past 50 years, he was born April 11, 1921, in Sandy Creek to A.P. and Willie Lee (Cloud) Brannon.
He was raised in Milam County and was a graduate of Rockdale High School.
He married Bonnie Doss on July 27, 1943, in Cameron.
Mr. Brannon worked for TP&L in Taylor, then for IGC (later Texas Utilities) in Rockdale, where he retired after 36 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockdale.
Mr. Brannon was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Hornet.
He was a member of Rockdale VFW and American Legion and he was a past member of IBEW.
Mr. Brannon enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by a brother, R.J. Brannon, and two sisters, Ann Balhorn and Gladys Adelle Ward.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie Brannon of Rockdale; a son, Ronnie Brannon and wife Barbara Jean of Hutto; a daughter, Joan Morgan and husband Charlie of Rockdale; a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Brademan of Lexington; and eight grandchildren, Lori Key, Mike Morgan, Leah Parker, Larry Morgan, Karry Morgan, Bryan Brannon, Donald Padgett, Misty Nielsen; also, 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Edelle Kirchenwitz, Charles Stolte, T.F. Gilleland, Ernest Hoffmeyer, Frank Burrough, Melvin Hirt.

Green
LEXINGTON – Services for Mary Ellen Harris Green, 61, of Dime Box, formerly of Lexington, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in Faith Temple Church in Lexington with Rev. Leon Lott officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
Mrs. Green died Sunday, Aug. 8, in an Austin hospital.
A resident of Dime Box for the past four years, she had also lived in California, Lexington and in Kirbyville for nine years.
She was born April 12, 1943, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Otto and Lola Mae (Anthony) Harris.
She married John Green on May 17, 1960.
Mrs. Green was a homemaker and worked as a nurse’s aide in Giddings for many years.
She was a member of Faith Temple in Lexington.
Preceding her in death were a grandson, Randy Green Jr., on May 8, 2003; her parents; and a sister.
Survivors are her husband, John Green of Dime Box; two sons, Rick Green and wife Rebecca, Randy Green Sr. and wife Sherry, all of Lexington; a daughter, Lynn Powell and husband Quinton Sr. of Giddings; a brother, Otis Harris and wife Nancy of Caldwell; two sisters, Pat Perry and husband Alvin of Brogan, Oregon, and Barbara Sue Johnson of Dime Box; and nine grandchildren, Angie, Chance, Jacob and Daniel Green, Amanda Green, Auttumn, Ashley, Quinton Jr. and Jimmy Powell; also, numerous nieces, nephews and 64 foster children.
Pallbearers will be Quinton Powell Sr., Randy Green Sr., Rick Green, Jacob Green, Chance Green, Anthony Harris, Jonathan Harris and Charlie Harris.
